The students of Sungjin High School Grade 3 Class 2 are now reservists and roam the city to destroy the deadly spheres that drop from the sky. Some of the reservists are driven by the promise of receiving bonus points on their CSAT exams for their military service, while other reservists are simply waiting to go home. Now, their radio has mysteriously stopped working, which makes it impossible for them to communicate with the military's command center. The reservists make the fateful decision to separate into teams and search the Yongwon Metropolitan Hospital and Yongwon Penitentiary for supplies. Kim Chi-Yeol (Kim Ki-Hae) observes his fellow reservists with his camcorder.

Az Sep 06 2024 8:53 pm I loved the first part and was excited to see they character development and improved skills at first then it got too much focus on the school exam which was stupid.. like I know it’s very important in Korea but who keep thinking about this when there is literally a war against alien and big cities are totally destroyed and people dead on the streets?? It doesn’t make any sense except for the ending build up. I suspected that the guy would start to be psycho when they started focusing too much on the canceled exam but hope they wouldn’t do it because only 3 episodes left.. it would’ve be a good ending if the drama was focusing on this topic only.

clara Jul 08 2024 9:17 pm honestly i didnt hate the ending as much as most people bc i thought it tied in well with the main theme of how merciless the korean education system is that creates mentally unstable teens..? idk but ig i thoroughly enjoyed both parts of the show n appreciated how the characters developed after working tgt. call the characters overdramatic or dumb but i loved how they survived despite being barely adults!! overall 7/10 due to some plot holes but watch this with zero expectations and you'd be quite impressed i'd say

To be fair I would rather the class get killed by something unexpected (the nerd) than the aliens. It would be disappointing to see them get killed by the aliens after they were shown to have gotten a lot better at killing them at the start of S2 (which honestly dont make sense to me, it almost seemed as if they are having a game while trying to kill them). And the whole class making it back to Seoul sounds too unbelievable.

Beside the main focus on humans being scarier than aliens which others have mentioned, I think one other major focus is on gun violence. What are the implications if a person with an unstable mind get their hands on it. I really felt the panic and fear while watching the shooting scene.

Although I quite like the ending, there were still several loopholes / questions that I really couldnt understand: 1. Like everyone has been asking, where is Wonbin? 2. How can they even think of turning on the whole amusement park and have fun when they know that it will attract the aliens? This is just stupid and I am shouting at them constantly when watching it. 3. Although the nerd has the advantage of the surprise element, it made no sense that he is able to shoot almost all of them (including a head shot) when it was shown that he wasnt the best marksman. Surely someone is capable of taking him down much earlier. 4. I was boiling when they showed a protest on the extra marks for the exam. Bruh the army lied to the students and used them, a lot of the students died for it, the surviving ones will have free membership to PTSD club, and there are people protesting about it?? I really wanted to climb into my screen and slap them. 5. I really hope the army personnel get punished. In times of emergency, it is justifiable to recruit students, but there were many points in the plot where the army personnel were shown using the students as dispensable objects. And sadly this probably is the case in real life too (for soldiers).

The writer doesnt even bother to write a proper story this time that a new plot comes and ends just like that. No explanation on the previous deaths, annoying characters just add to the uncomfortable watching experience.

We don't where Sergeant Kim is,Whether they are still in the Area where Mr Lee died. A question which still bothers me is when they all watched soo chul's death video,it was shown there were spheres which led him to falling off the window,but... didn't they have sphere detector,how did the others not find out? Plus when Chi yeol is shown waking up from a dream in normal life,before that we were shown that Young Soo detected Spheres and Jang Soo was killed when he opened the door and sphere attacked him,but when we are past that scene,it shows young soo killed him...so was the sphere killing jang soo a frigment of someone's imagination? Who imagined that? How did the 4 survivors reach Seoul after everyone was killed? There are so many mysteries about the characters too. Like why did Bo Ra dislike Ae Seol? Why did Il Ha,Young Hoon and Chi yeol fall apart if chi yeol and young hoon were friends before? And about the Spheres, What were they? What was the thing about them communicating with each other and sending signals? Why were they devouring humans? the "weapon" to kill spheres,Was it made with That chemical used to kill the spheres? Or was it something like cold killing? This show seriously didn't bother tying the loose ends,unless there is a season 3 answering these questions.

DKT May 01 2023 8:20 am I really regreted starting watching and hoping for a 'good' ending but it turned out to be one of my worse Korean series I ever watched... if you haven't started you might want to reconsider of saving of your few hour life time watching.

I mean plot are good and while reading the comments below . I watch episodes 1-5 , hearing episode 6 platoon lee die it took me sometime to watch no doubt I cried . Like seriously why do TVING make Mr Lee die and make us cry .I mean most of us hope there are some twist in the story after all in still a kdrama . in season 2 that I was hoping he will come back safety he never die etc . Watched episode 7,9,and 2nd half of the episode 10 which I watched the ending. Tbh I hate it .

There are many possibility couples on this show among the students . Including the student soyeon and platoon Lee as well . Why did the director do that to the story . And I wanted part 3

Question : So after the mass killing from that nerd . Left with 4 students alive. My question is ,rmb right before the mass killing from the nerd . The Nerd was actually holding the sphere detectors which already detect sphere is approaching them and in fact is around the school/ them. My question is left with 4 student alive . How Could They even survive?? With that amount of sphere ? Even with na Ra alive who is great in shooting . Couldn’t even make it Becuz to many spheres That’s my question . Also there is a need of an explanation where did sergeant Kim went ? (I do know he was sent to base for treating his injury ). This part need to show as well Becuz all characters have this close bonds tgth .

That’s why many of us wants part 3 to have a clear ending also happy ending next .

If there is a changed for this kdrama the most easiest was platoon lee is able to make out in time while planting the the bomb . Or Platoon lee able to came alive and found the students and appear in epsiode 7 alongside with sergeant Kim . Ending they able to get finish their sats … something like that ??????

I feel like none of you understand the ending and how it's supposed to work because you aren't able to understand the message being conveyed here. One thing is for sure, the ending was a huge plot twist and none of us expected that. Second, the students dying because of the spheres would have been too predictable. Third, I feel like we keep on forgetting but the recurring theme of this drama is that HUMANS are scarier and more frightening than unfamiliar phenomenon. This theme played throughout the drama like a leit motif. The army deceiving the kids to make them sign the consent form, the army then discharging them again to eliminate more spheres because they wanted to use the students as a reserved force, that army dude trying to escape on his own when the spheres attacked the city, the criminals who s*xu*lly h*r*ss*d No Ae Seol. From the beginning, humans were a bigger threat than the spheres and that's why, in my opinion, getting the students killed by that p*rv*rt, h*r*ss*r Guk Young Su was the best way to end the drama. They carried the theme till the very end and I guess none of you are able to see that part. I think the writing and direction was really good. The scenes and emotions all seemed really nicely aligned and perfectly in sync with the main plot. I hope this comment is able to help everyone look at the drama through another perspective.

maya Apr 28 2023 4:31 pm To those who haven't watched part 2 yet, I highly recommend watching it. All the shtty comments are just because of the ending. A little SPOILER to hint at how bad it was; one of the students decided to make a Really selfish decision. But a show isn't automatically the worst if the ending isn't good. This show was based on a webtoon, and I have really good experience with webtoon-based K-dramas. Clearly, finishing off part 1 with the ending is bad enough, so regardless, you would still have to watch part 2.

Yes, the ending is heartbreaking and disappointing, but that's part of the point. From the very beginning they were fighting a losing battle against the spheres, the adults, and each other. The situation was so skewed against them it would be a miracle if they all survived and got to Seoul in one piece.

I personally wish they hadn't altered the storyline for the opening of part 2, and just stuck to the real plot. You were never meant to feel like they were winning the war, or that somehow everything was going to end up rainbows and sunshine.

If you're considering this series ....don't. Solely b/c part 2 is pure horseshit. !SPOILERS! ---- not b/c the kids die (I mean someone had to; to keep it thrilling). Part 2 has No Plot & ALL Questions Unanswered. It's humiliating to the acting and writing of part 1. The shooting was stuppppid; I could have accepted this if they set it up waaaaay better, and didn't kill everyone a good handful fine! but all of them; made the plot and char. development of part 1 useless.

I'm not sure if the budget was not there, or the writers were over it. When I tell you it goes nowhere it goes Nowhere! No character development, no answers to the aliens, some characters in part 1 are missing, beyond stupid choices being made (the prison scene TF Was That Sh*t???), and then the good old time jump to magically the world made a "weapon" that destroyed the spheres

Never got to see this magical weapon, and not to mention the spheres were still there...soooo what was solved?? The "message" everyone says the writers are trying to send about Korea's societal pressure of testing and image...Horsesh*t; poorly portrayed. How the hell do we get from alien invasion to life lessons? I promise part 2 just shitted on the whole series... makes you really want to curse all of it, but part 1 was great and the actors/actresses did their big one; seeing as a lot of the actors/actresses are new to the screen.

If you watch... set no expectations, don't look for any answers, and don't expect anything to change. Just enjoy --- I guess

This ending is contributed by youngsoo’s mindset, because of the cancellation of csat, he went insane and was furious at everything which lead to him making dumb decisions. When you are overly academically inclined, things like this Will happen to you because your only target is to enter the University, you can don’t bother about your classmates and just focus on you, yourself. Such problems can really affect someone’s brain and thinking and make them even more dangerous because they won’t give a f*ck about you anymore and will do anything to outshine others. Additionally, with all the arguments going on and youngsoo getting treated like shit, I mean come on, the reasoning for his actions are obvious. He feels defeated yet he still wants to get his revenge on them. To conclude, the director is trying to portray how humans are actually scarier, they are willing to do anything just to get what they want.

1. I would love to see how the four survivors made it back to Seoul. And what did they do, to their friends / classmates after that traumatic scene.

2. Kinda curious how they got separated with their Platoon Sergeant of Season 1.

There are too many unexplained plots. Overall, it’s a 6/10 for me since the whole thing is kinda rush.

Also frustrating that there was no closure with Ahjussi and the 3 survivors. But I love Duty After School a lot. Even if there are a lot of characters, every single one was given time to shine. The actors were all amazing and so pretty! I have seen most of them in other youth-oriented dramas and found them amazing there. Hoping that they will all flourish in their future roles!

Iff we are talking about the plot, it was a 9/10. ending was definitely hanging us on a loose thread. however, if we take our time to analyse about what each episode is trying to tell us we can obviously find the linkages. in summary, part 1 was about building the bonds between the students and how they adapt to new changes around them, they’ve been through lots of heated arguments and learnt survival skills through their time, lots of ups and downs including heartbreaking deaths. i’m part 2, it is somewhat continuous, spheres are still present and they are currently surviving by themselves without any commander, they make their own plans and continues with their missions until they realised that despite all of their hard work, they will not be able to take their test as it was cancelled. all of them got into arguments again and eventually stopped their missions and wander off, one of the guys were really frustrated, he didn’t believe the news and eventually went insane because of how complicated the situation is now, ended up murdering one of his friends and was scared that others would find out so he wiped out 3/4 of his friends including him. everything went by so sudden and it took lots of time for me to process what actually happened. at the front, it was obvious that the reasons he wants to join the missions was to earn extra points because his focus was only to move forward to university. thus after hearing the news he was devastated and furious, he was not in the right state and his actions were commands by his brain. i’m conclusion, part 2 is all about how such situations can deeply affect people’s mental health and their brain.

If they wanted to show the stress of the exam of the Korea they should make a drama without aliens and military training. The story still has so much potential to be explored; maybe they don't have much creative freedom or something else. I was just hoping we could get the same cast in another season and explore more about the aliens. It's still a great watch, but I can only really rewatch and enjoy the first part.

The story build-up towards the end was obvious and expected to happen like that. Watch till the end for the song, it's awkward yet funny. Looking forward to rest of the casts next project!

So frustrating, they should have not added Part Two it was questionable and pointless... but I realized how we fear the spheres or perhaps those things that are strange and unexplained when the real horror, and most unpredictable predators are our own kind. the Humans. They are indeed the scariest creatures ever.

But season 2 was so short lived by 2 episodes it broke my emotional heart.... and then the ending ... what a killer. I found that it was nothing I ever expected and that a lesson I learnt was the song the even the commander rapped.... live life to its fullest in the now... tomorrow we are aware of but we live and love today... I understand that most of audience didn't like the ending, but the way i see, it must happend. Series like this is usually dindt have a good ending, and i like it that way. If you look the notes of the drama, it's based on webcomic "Banggwa Hoo Jeonjaenghwaldong”, and after reading the end of that webcomic, its pretty much applied to the Drama.

Overall it's good K-drama and i am looking forward to watched another type of drama like this.

I would've given this K-drama a 10/10, but I'm giving this a 7/10 just because of how horrible the ending was, really quite annoyed by it.

He replied that they cut his scene, and he's actually alive but returned to the main base. It's a shame they cut his scene, as he's also a vital character. I already hated the last episode, and then we were also robbed by not mentioning the whereabouts of Wonbin. He could have been with them in the classroom scene, since in the original webtoon, when Youngsoo did what he did, they also had a teacher with them. The ending was so traumatizing, since it was so close to reality. No one's happy.

Like what happened to the other trainer? Tons of stupid students who don't understand the reality that they're facing right now. Just don't bother wasting your time watching the part 2 eps. If you're really curious just head to the last ep and save urself time. Many things were stupid tbh. Like for example the students who visited the prison. They had 7 guns and they were afraid of shooting the prisoner that has the gun? Like come on just shoot the fking guy and the rest of the prisoner then release ur friend.... common sense...the most stupid part was the ending tbh.... it's honestly the most disappointing ending i have ever seen. I understand that scriptwriters may feel that always giving a good ending spoils the show. But killing almost everyone? Then changing the scene to where the guy who was dreaming in the class? Afterwards change to the scene where everyone are close w their commander and singing songs? Wtf am I watching? There are so many unanswered questions....so much more to type but I am just speechless at this point to further comment... If you're looking for happy ending just watch another show please I beg you.
