Genie (Kim Woo-Bin) is a spirit that comes out of lamp. He is full of emotional excess and goes back and forth between different emotions. Ga-Young (Bae Suzy) is someone who lacks emotion. She happens to call Genie out of his lamp and is granted 3 wishes to make.

Suzy and Woobin!! I know it's freaking impossible that you'll across here but if ever.. If Ever.. I just want you to know that I am so happy, jeongmalyo - because you worked again after UF that gaves me so much to remember.. Most specially, how both of you broke my heart in UF! Haha. I even cried here in Genie but I am so happy in the ending eventhough I didn't expect it. Hehe. Saranghaeyo both! I hope you work again, jebal!

Kdrama Llama Apr 25 2026 3:37 am I was persuaded to watch this show, largely due to the stellar leads…Although I was entertained and laughed in parts (mainly at KWB) and thought Suzy’s story and performance was great (and I loved her relationship with her gran) there was something lacking for me. It was too inconsistent and the product placement for Dubai too loud! Not sure this will go on my rewatch list.

But looking at the other comments, you should maybe not watch it if you're overly religious ... lol Or maybe watch US/Canadian productions first, like "Lucifer" ;)

irish Dec 30 2025 4:02 pm The first half of the drama was boring (only continued bc of suzy and woobin) but it became interesting after ep 7. Unlike other dramas that involve the leads’ past lives, i liked this one. Their past love story was heartbreaking. The people in the village also added depth to the story. Song hyekyo’s cameo was iconic and i love how they even mentioned her name and dramas like the glory and the heirs!

I almost didn't watch it because of the comments here, but after seeing the drama, I'm glad I decided to go against every negative comment and try the drama out for myself. I loved every part of it.

Some of the cast felt unnecessary, and the plot lacked proper flow; it was just all over the place. I honestly expected one of her wishes to be turning Iblis into a human. Overall, I can’t really recommend it. Being generous, I’d rate it a 4/10.

Entertaining Oct 17 2025 4:32 am It was fun to watch the series. I wouldnt call it master piece, but cant deny that each episide will keep you looking forward to the next one. In that context, all the cast did an incredible job. This is the couple been waiting to watch since uncontrollably fond. Even for ml, fl there were a miss at certain scenes. Not sure why director was satisfied and carried those scenes. All in all , it is a good time pass even if you come with expectations.

Jo han Oct 15 2025 9:36 pm Well, for me the issue is with the overall storyline, maybe the writer or the director didnt understand well or didnt study properly about what the story need or should have.. Its got less impact due to mix of cultures and actor's stiff script n story route.

Woo bin as usual being a versatile and then suzy, she ok too but sometime there were scene of her being emotionally exaggerate, rather being a thrill she become scary character .. Its spoil the drama genre which suppose to be funny. Anyhow, the drama is worth-to-watch.

It sheds light that all humanity has both evil and good in them, including spirits and seraphim. Rarely will even a celestial being find a human who is pure. Even though considered pure evil, the main female character remains true to her soul after repeated incarnations. Great cast!! Complicated storyline, bravo to the writers!!

Emma Rouge Oct 11 2025 1:45 am All in all it was an entertaining drama. I don’t know where to start. I understand why some watchers said they dropped because it was boring. Honestly it was, but only at the beginning (ep1-3) maybe. But just hang on, it definitely would change its course and starts becoming interesting. (Don’t skip ep 1-3 though because no matter how boring these episodes could be, they still hold crucial parts of the story). SPOLIER ALERT!!!!!! I don’t understand why in episode 1 (spolier), Iblis threatened ki ka young while they were at the tower, but all through-out the drama he was always afraid of her as she would just hit him with tools or what. Anyway, not very important, I was just wondering.

Kim woo-bin’s acting was actually the readon I was able to bear ep1-3’s boredom. He was funny without forcing. And Sayed (sade) was a gentle giant beast of Iblis.. Suzy’s character wasn’t so fun and her acting was robotic. I get that she doesn’t show nor feel nor convey emotions, but the way she moves, express herself or even tilting her head was like a robot. She made herself looked creepy i stead of scary. Why did she need to act so stiff in it’s only her emotions are limited?

Irem was cute and I like her style of acting. Near the end I understand the importance why Irem has to be deaf. (She has to stay Awake).

I know that Daniel Henney and Kim Ji-hoon were only guests/cameos but honestly I liked their characters and Daniel played his (poop-pi) character soooo adorable! Kim ji-hoon’s final scene (ep.12) had me teary eyed. But I wont spoil it, for me it was one of the most touching scenes in the drama.

Song hye kyo as expected was drop dead gorgeous! Her scenes were on the comedic side. It’s so kind of her making cameos like this considering her status. I just wished she had a little more scenes.

Iblis and Ijaeil always fight but noone ever loses!

Min-jin, ka young’s dentist friend was a dear friend until the end.

Episode 13 was a tear-jerker.

Please watch Genie, make a wish! It’s worth it!!!!

Kim woo Bin and Bae Suzy are good together, I’ve seen them before in something much better and many of the cast members are experienced and truly good. This drama wasted their talents. Shame.

Suzy is an incredible actress, much better in this than I've ever seen her. Woo Bin is charismatic and so handsome, played both bad boy and good boy to the hilt. Stunning visuals, and I'm so tired of CGI complaints! What is so wrong with CGI when it's done well?

My trauma and sadness in uncontrollably fond was healed, thank you very much Suzy and Woo bin for a wonderful and magical show. I love you both! I'm from the Philippines by the way and 15 years being a fan of Suzy, since her debut in Miss A, love you Suzy, if genie will be here, my first wish will be having a picture with you in person.

Bimini Oct 06 2025 4:13 pm The best actor out of this all-star cast is the little girl, Kim Yun-Seul, who projects such genuine emotions, it's hard to believe that she's acting at all. I'm continuing to watch because there's something compelling about the storyline, and being fed the real story bit by bit. And I started to watch because I am a big fan of most of the main cast members. But there seems to be a sort of lack of synchronicity between the genie and Kim Ka-Young. And I get that the psychopath character of Kim Ka-Young may be shut down emotionally and unable to connect with others, but neither star seems to be in character from the beginning. Daniel Henney was a surprise, but by the time his character leaves the storyline, I was impressed by how much he'd convinced me that his character was once a dog. Wonderful 'effects' outshine the cast members.

Everything is unexpected and it's so satisfying, especially the ending. They really cared for the viewers for this one. I shall not leave any negative impressions as they are for you to judge. This is what I imagine Kdrama when they say Kdrama, no kdrama ever did the same. This is a dream come true for my wishful mind!

Besides Bon Apetit Ive been struggling to really be excited about a show. I went in not knowing the story and I loved it. Kim Eun-Sook is a great storyteller and if you like fantasy and just crazy stuff, like Secret Garden, then this drama is for you.

Woo Bin and Suzy have great chemistry as always and their bantering is the best.

I really love the shift from 'I will kill you' to 'I will save you' between Ga-young and Genie. Not the happiest ending but feels like bittersweet for me. Not the best drama this year but the story was good enough.

Zhao Oct 05 2025 12:55 am This is actually a good drama. Even though for some people said episode 1 too mess. But for me it good because of flashback and jump to present then flashback again, make me think and to understand quick backstory of the genie and the FL.

I'm watching this because of the Woo-bin, Suzy, and a lot of good cameo. Also the screenwriter is the same who write Goblin/Guardian: The lonely and great god.

Even not as good or memorable like the Goblin/Guardian: The lonely and great god. But this drama still enjoyable to watch. The humor, the awkward moments, the fantasy-romance, and a unique storyline.

A little tips for others if you're not much of a thinker when you watch drama. Don't quickly fast forward every second, because you will miss some crucial moment. And rewind a bit if needed.

Overall it’s an enjoyable drama . Rewatchable also. There are couple of scenes it’s a bit complex to digest but watching up to 13 episode it makes sense. It’s fictional fantasy rom com

Jevypark Oct 04 2025 3:54 am The drama was really funny, and I absolutely loved it! At first, I found the whole Genie concept a little confusing, but as the episodes went on, everything became clear especially his backstory.

I honestly don’t understand why some people are saying this drama is bad, because to me, there was nothing wrong with it. It has everything you’d want in a good K-drama humor, fantasy, romance, and a unique storyline.

A lot of people criticize the female lead, calling her unrelatable or odd, but I actually think that’s what makes the show stand out. It’s a fantasy drama, after all! Having a psychopath female lead in a romantic fantasy was something new for me, and I found it really fun to watch. I laughed through most of the episodes because the comedy was fresh, quirky, and genuinely entertaining.

It’s very different from Uncontrollably Fond, and maybe that’s why some fans didn’t like it as much Uncontrollably Fond was deeply emotional, while this one is almost emotionless in comparison. But if you think about it, both dramas have completely different plots and tones, and both are great in their own ways.

So, I’d definitely recommend this drama! And if you’ve watched Uncontrollably Fond before, this one might actually help heal you from the emotional trauma of that show.

I wouldn’t say it’s the best drama of the year, but it’s definitely interesting with its supernatural theme. Suzy’s character felt a bit awkward at first, but as the story went on, she became more engaging. I also liked the jokes ,it was another good script from Kim Eun-sook. Some dialogues were a little cringy, but overall, it was still good. I really don’t get the hate this drama is getting.
