Jung Hae-Seong (Seo Kang-Joon) is an ace field agent for the National Intelligence Service (NIS). After a big incident occurred during an operation, Jung Hae-Seong receives a demotion. He is placed into an operation to locate the whereabouts of King Gojong’s missing gold bars. For this assignment, he hides his identity and goes undercover as a student at prestigious Byeongmoon High School. There, he meets Teacher Oh Soo-A (Jin Ki-Joo) as his homeroom teacher.

Oh Soo-A is a contract Korean history teacher with an upright personality and she holds strong affection for her students. One day, Jung Hae-Seong is transferred to Byeongmoon High School and she becomes his homeroom teacher. She begins to see her first love, from her childhood days, overlap in Jung Hae-Seong. Her first love caused the biggest wound to her heart.

llou Sep 20 2025 7:54 am okay so this was really good? i haven't watched a newer kdrama in a while and i always trust in kang seo-joon's acting so i watched the first episode and it was really good! immediately binge-watched the rest and i really enjoyed the series! i'm glad they made it a 12-episodes drama and didn't try to needlessly prolong it into a 16-episodes series. the acting was great, the comedy had me crying at times(end of episode 4?? had me screaming) and all in all, the story came together great :') i saw some comments saying the romance was forced but honestly, i didn't mind! in some scenes it did seem rather extreme to go from Huge Threat On Our Lives to Silly Romance but i guess that's just the thing with most kdramas. so yeah, i do recommend this one!

All these little negative comments I cannot relate to but everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I totally agree on this being worth to watch overall. There wasn't as much romance which was fine, because I live for dramas that have a bit of everything whether it be action, romance and comedy all in one but action and crime more and this covered it all for me. Honestly in a few years i'd probably binge this again when I forget about it. Although I'd love a season two, I think the ending was great end where I don't think another season is necessary but if ever there is one of course I'm going to watch. Thank you for an amazing watch.

But apart from that I enjoyed this a lot minus the romance. I've watched Jin Ki-joo for a long time now and I always enjoy her acting. This is my first time watching Seo Kang Joon. The only time I saw him at screen was during a reality series called Roommate so I'm really surprised by his performance here.I was floored. He's a gifted actor.

roseanne23 Jul 09 2025 2:23 am first of all, i like this drama. just finished it today. i love kangjoon, i watched this because of him lol plus jin kijoo is so cute. i always end up loving her when she's in the drama i'm watching. i enjoyed this but i find the dad so stupid. it's so frustrating especially the reveal. seeing the gold pissed me off so much lmao. i'm like is his dad fcking serious. so unreasonable. anyway i dont think i'll rewatch it lol but it's good in its own way. this is just my initial thoughts after finishing the drama so it's not very organized lmao

And the plot twist they give is something that we can learn in real life. Like, we always go far away to find the treasure, but it's exactly near us, and from the process we did, you can learn something new.

I need season two! I want to see Ahn Yoo Jung work as an NIS agent alongside her father and oppa.

Bunnysoy Jun 04 2025 3:41 am I have nothing bad to say about the acting but a lot about the writing. Actors and actresses were pretty on point. They managed to portray their characters how I think they should have been played as they were written (in my opinion). My problem was the writing. I tried as hard as I could to suspend my beliefs especially in reality and logic but a lot of the situations were so forced that it became frustrating at times. I know this could just possibly be a writing tool to generate anticipation as to what will happen next but honestly it had the opposite effect on me to the point where I almost didn't want to bother finishing the series. Lady villain had so many years to solve the riddle from when the agent dad "disappeared" and the agent son took over the case but as soon as our MC took over the case lady villain suddenly became so intuitive as to how the MC will proceed and at times even beating MC to the punch in some cases. It took her that long to finally decide to just "take the place apart" in order to look for the missing gold. The part where they tried to sow doubt whether his uncle was the traitor or not was so obvious that it didn't really add too much to the story when MC cleared him of his doubts. And the way he was cleared was so lackluster it kind of made me go "that's it? you built up so much tension only to prove that the uncle was not the bad guy in such a lame way?" I'm not even going to bother with how clueless they made the teacher. Sure it made for some funny situations but there were some scenes where she was just completely devoid of any common sense. I won't say I hated it but I won't say I loved it either. Worth watching? Reluctantly, I say ok. Worth rewatching? Maybe not. Unless, of course you are a big fan of the lead/s. Because, let's face it, fan's will love their idol's work no matter what.

I know the actors are adults and their characters are adults, but the teacher crushing on her student and giving him special attention is creepy to me because she doesn't know he's undercover. From what she knows, he's underage, a minor, who is supposed to be under her care and guidance. And the undercover agent isn't helping either. He knows he's supposed to be playing the role of a high school student, but he's not very careful with his interactions with his teacher. Like he's trying to tempt her—gazing too long at her eyes, flirting by bantering, stroking her hair by removing a petal. Aside from the creepy context of homeroom teacher-student relationship, they used one of the kdrama tropes that I find super cringe and fockin annoying—the woman (teacher) tripping and grabbing the man (student), causing them both to fall on top of each other. they share an accidental kiss, and all of these happening in slow-mo.

kaito May 15 2025 6:33 am Just finished episode 3 and i'm already struggling to finish. I'm intrigued by the mystery of the 4 school ghost stories and how that might lead to the location of the treasure, but other than those and Seo Kang Joon's ridiculously gorgeous face, this series feels exhausting so far. The NIS seems incompetent and disorganized—why is a bumbling idiot the director? The supposed prestigious school seems superficial. Only the campus looks "prestigious" but it still contains unruly, vapid, cowardly sets of students and faculty like any other regular school. There's nothing to show the "prestige" of the school.

The FL character is starting to annoy me. I get that they're trying to be comedic but the exaggerated expressions she does whenever her character talks to herself and thinks out loud seem to be desperate attempts to be funny but failing. Also, it's a little creepy that she's so hung up on SKJ's undercover character. A teacher who's always thinking about one student and focusing on just him. I get that she suspects he's a bully, but instead of paying most attention to him, a suspected bully, she should be paying more attention to the victim. She already suspects that Dong Min is being bullied but instead of reaching out and watching over him, she interacts more with SKJ. I get it, he's so freakin handsome and Dong Min looks like the stereotypical outcast. No doubt the delulus would want to spend more time with SKJ, but her character was supposed to be a.fair and principled caring teacher, but with SKJ's character, she's acting more like a boy-crazy stalker. I wish they just left out the romance altogether because even though he's undercover, it's still creepy watching a teacher crushing on one of her students. She tries to act annoyed and considers him a "problem student", but the amount of time she thinks about him makes it obvious that she's crushing.

I'm continuing to watch because Seo Kang Joon is so damn beautiful and my eyes love looking at him, and also I want to hear the 4 ghost stories (I wish they just went the horror route because that fast-crawling ghost freaked me out) and intrigued at how those would lead them to finding the treasure.

joyash May 12 2025 6:29 pm The plot of Undercover High School is actually nice and promising, with the idea of infiltration and secret missions inside a school setting being quite intriguing. However, the execution falls short in many aspects.

First, the school is supposed to be a prestigious, well-known institution, yet it doesn’t feel like one. There are only a few teachers shown, and the environment doesn’t give off the vibe of a big or elite campus. It feels oddly empty and underdeveloped.

Second, the NIS (National Intelligence Service) aspect is also disappointing. It's expected to be a high-tech, well-funded, and high-caliber agency. But the headquarters looks like an old, outdated building. Their equipment and operations seem low-budget and unimpressive, which really takes away from the realism and thrill the story could have offered.

Overall, the concept is great, but the details and world-building needed more effort to be convincing.

Overall this is such a fun drama, it's been a while i had a good laugh watching a show. I just finished rewatching it because of how much i like it!

I love everything about this series bc every episode got me excited for the next one. Indonesian Viewers Apr 13 2025 8:38 pm Jin Ki Joo was the main reason I decided to watch UHS. Surprisingly, this drama filled by cool actors. Every role has their own bold character, so you will remember each of them. in UHS I really enjoy the acting of Seo Kang Joon, Kim Shin Rock, and also The NIS Triplets (haha). This drama is very entertaining and fun to watch, yet you can get crime mystery to think and discuss with your friend. Too bad it's only have 12 eps to air and less promotions. UHS might not reach the rating target from tv station, but if you're doing media monitoring in social media, I'm pretty sure that UHS deserve more attention. I wish all UHS cast & crew will make a long friendship after filming, since we can feel the warmth of their teamwork. Love from Indonesia.

Undercover High School cast of actors, All did a great job in their own perspective roles including those working behind the scenes workers. Respect to one & all for your hardwork.

Seo Kang Joon has matured into a fine actor. His charismatic positive demeanour in this drama brought out the best of him. He has shown much devotion towards his comeback drama. He is the torch of this drama. Hope to see more of his work in the future.

Jin Ki Joo is a low key actress but without doubt a very good actress. She had shown in her past drama that she could carry any role presented to her. Her persona images come from what is required by the directors & scripts which she has faithfully performed. So to describe her characters in any drama as annoying is truly unfair. Please spare a thought for her, she deserve better comments. The little romance in the drama shone & overcome the male lead loneliness in his struggle. She will excel in her acting careers in the long running years ahead.

Kim Shin Rok is a flawless & versatile actress. She nailed her role as a villain that one either likes or hates her, her on screen appearance cannot be erased. She is an important part in the drama plot.

Undercover High School on the light side is fun, entertaining & enjoyable drama to watch ease one's tension from pressure.

Bi-ah Apr 05 2025 10:49 am The first 6 episodes looked promising, the story line, the humour, the horror, the action, everything..But, it went downhill from there when the story entered the serious part, when it connected with the missing Dad story and then they also tried to incorporate romance into it. The story begins to show so many loopholes. The NIS team that was initially the main actors, became background actors. The story that started with a solid NIS team became a useless incapable team. The teacher, Oh Su-ah becomes the main actor although her role in the storyline is unclear. How come a teacher beats the NIS agents when it comes to bravery and fighting?? How come NIS agents are all so incapable of doing martial arts (except Jong Hae-song). How come the main villain Seo Myeong-ju is that powerful and there's no one could stop her till the end..Even when she was finally arrested, there was not anything spectacular about it, just happened to get the USB with voice recording. Like you wait till the end to beat her, but it was only with such a simple thing??

There are so many loopholes in the story. I think they are trying too hard to incorporate so many genres and aspects into the series that they didn't focus on building the main narrative well. They should've focused on action-comedy genre and leave the romance out of it. Also, I think using the missing Dad narrative as a way to build the emotion of the main character is a blinder. The character of Jeong Hae-song was already good as it is without needing this unnecessary background story, thanks to Seo Kang-Joon's high quality acting. I don't feel a great chemistry between SKJ and JKJ either. I don't think there should be romance in the storyline, the character of Oh Su-ah is so unnecessary, and the link to the past as a childhood friend. Too many unnecessary things they ruined an otherwise a great action comedy series.

As much as I love SKJ and admire his acting skill, I think this drama is just OK or maybe even a NO. It is too ambitious in trying to achieve so many things by incorporating so many genres and aspects altogether, but ended up failing to knit a nice story which should be the backbone of a drama.

Olya_1004 Apr 03 2025 11:31 pm I wanted to watch this drama mostly for the storyline,don't really care for Seo Kang Jun and don't know the FL actress that well. I would say that the drama can be silly at times but it's meant to be a comedy so don't take some of the scenes too seriously or it would get annoying. Also yes FL was a bit annoying in the first couple of episodes but I would say she got much better later on.

I would say that the highlight of the show was definitely our villainess Kim Shin Rok. I am not really familiar with her and haven't seen her before (at least from what I remember) but damn,her acting was on point. She portrayed a woman descending into madness quite well and it's rare to see women play such great vilians in Kdramas (I don't consider mean grannies into this category). If anything,I would recommend watching it just to see her performance but overall the drama wasn't bad,I would give it 8/10.

Vero Mar 30 2025 8:58 am Seo Kang-Joon's acting skills are superb. He is very accomplished. I was laughing that "he" was being taught how to play piano in the show. He should have his own movie franchise.

Jin Ki-Joo is also a wonderful actress, with the comedic timing of a seasoned pro. I liked her so much in "Now it's Showtime" and loved her in UHS. She has now worked with the two main love interests of "Cheese in the Trap", which I recommend for Seo Kang-Joon's acting alone.

Thank you to all who worked on UHS. It's my top show.

She exudes a different take and a different essence of a villain. She perfectly portrayed a passive-aggressive villain that we could only see few times in k dramas. I love that this series offer a blend of laughter, mystery, and action infused in a rather rom-com type of drama. Kudos to the writer and the director.

What teacher intrudes on a students home life and brings soup to them? Not sure is this drama even needs a romcom storyline. Besides that, it’s so far very entertaining. SKJ is fire!

Kim Feb 23 2025 12:10 pm I feel so old when writing this but this drama reminds me to HK star Chow Sing Chi's hit movie "Fight Back To School". Just 2 episodes but I think I'm gonna love this drama.

Happy98 Feb 23 2025 7:34 am This drama has a very big chance of success, some scenes felt good but felt like they could have been better. What kind of Students council do you want? They are neither fully bastard or good. The N.I.S? They're not really excellent on their job as mentioned by themselves. Up to the last episode, the other actors besides MC are really just like a cheerleading squad to liven things up, not really having any effect on the storyline. I will keep watching to see how it develops :)

Jenike Feb 22 2025 3:38 am I was really looking forward to watching this drama, because I like the lead actors acting skills and the mystery of plotting and uncovering. The thing that made my excitement dropped after watching the 1st episode. What are they trying to emphasize whenever the high school student “ Lee Dong Min” appears they put an emphasis on the name and the appearance of the character. The other students names are not being emphasized like that character’s name “ Lee Dong Min”…They know very well with what they’re busy with and I don’t like it so due to this…I’m not interested in continue watching this series.

lee catnip Feb 22 2025 2:03 am This drama is promising. But the twists: like his boss' daughter also studies in the that school where he'll be working as an undercover, might mess things up. Same with the brat boys in the resto. There are people who might recognize him though.

Rin Feb 22 2025 12:31 am Watched the 1st episode and it was good. The story line is okay. It has humor and not too serious. I like both main actors and their acting so It’s fun to watch. This is my first drama in 2025. I wish the plot for next episodes still entertaining and not boring. Gonna wait for other episodes!

The body figure between boys and men are different though maybe the face look young. Why always high school? But can't hardly wait to see Seo Kang joon in his new project after finishing his military service. Miss him so much!
