A love story takes place between a grim reaper and a doctor with a special ability.

Kok-Du (Kim Jung-Hyun) once incurred the wrath of God. He was turned into a grim reaper as punishment for his action. As a grim reaper, he is cold and cruel. His job is to lead dead spirits to the after world. Every 99 years, Kok-Du comes down to this world and possess a human body that looks just like him. He kills scummy people who deserve to die. This time, he comes to this world and possess human Do Jin-Woo’s body. He then gets involved with Han Gye-Jeol (Lim Soo-Hyang).

Han Gye-Jeol works as a visiting physician. Because she graduated from the country's lowest ranked medical school, she is intimidated by people who look down on her credentials. Her mother died when she was a child and she has only her younger brother. She doesn't have anybody that really cares about her. When Do Jin-Woo appears in front of her, he is the first one in her life who takes her side. Her daily life is changed because of him.

Val Torre Apr 15 2025 6:03 am Am enjoying this so far. Kim Jung Hyun is a wonderful funny and charismatic actor. He dominates the screen in a charming way. The story is a fantasy and as such lives up to this. The FL is charming and rightly does not recognise the change in the man she loves… it is a fantasy! Something other commentators seem to have missed. When embarking on watching a series such as this the viewer should be ready to immerse themselves in a fantasy world. Cinderella didn’t actually go to the ball in a golden coach made from a pumpkin! The series may disappoint later but at the moment the entire cast upholds this story really well even though it is Fantasy. However Jung Hyun still manages to be a romantic figure as required by Korean Drama… well done

I love Kokdu’s portrayal. His love interest is beautiful quirky cute and funny! Masterful writing, masterful characters.

Finally I already finished this .its worth it for me after i delay it for many days to watch it back. All cast are done this work well . I recognize FL younger brother are from drama hello my twenties. His character really touched when he cried and talk about his hard work and got rejected in that drama.he's talented. Nice to see him again in this drama. You should give it a try to watch kokdu ?

El May 13 2023 9:43 am Thanks for belle comments on (14 march 2:23pm),the one who answered all my questioned in my mind while im watching kokdu and stop at episode 9 and already skip at ep i dont remember .i guess ,ep 11 or 12. she realize kokdu is not human.coz i feel annoying and irritated with FL character .i didnt say i hate her.but hate her character.

She's stupid .why she realize too late.its really obvious he's not human at the beginning.why realize too late.why so dumb and she mad at him kill bad people.its his task.he's not human , the task for him to kill them .she doesnt even understand that thing.i stop every minute when see her react like that.i cant even finish it this drama.honestly im watching this because of kim jung hyun.he's good potray the character like he's in waikiki. i agreed with belle ,she's good in graceful family.

This drama for me,similar like doom at your service genre .but the FL character doesnt interrupt his work,i guess.if im wrong ,forgive me .this is just my opinion.

Thats it.when this drama release i dont want to watch this.but this week i give it a try.i dont think i can finish it after read all below comments.maybe will continued later.

Second: Unfortunately there is communist propaganda in almost every episode (multiple mentions of how evil capitalism and free markets are, at least one in every episode). You would think that the people of SK would be more careful not to allow communist propaganda in their Dramas given the example of communism is what literally split their country in half not even 100 years ago, and capitalism is literally what brought SK to be one of the top powerhouses for innovation in the world. Shame on the writers of this drama!!!

I've participated in KJH's drama 3 times but so far the drama he's played is very good and of course funny. but why not here? actually I don't want to blame this guy's acting for not being good and vice versa. I feel the plot of this drama is boring. even the supporting cast like oksin etc in mr queen drama they are very funny. why don't they look funny here? it is deeply regretted. For the pretty sis, Im Soohyang, this is the second drama I've watched. sorry, I prefer you in Gangnam Beauty :') sorry if this offends others but this is my feeling every time I try to force myself to watch it hoping for a continuation for sure. sorry I stopped here. eps 1-4 was great until 5 -12 got messy, (in my opinion) the story was great but a little weird, the one that's making the problem is han gye jeol, she is annoying, selfish, naive, nvr thinks abt others, she always breaks kokdu's feeling and u know what in every problem they had it's always the FL who starts the problem and she is weird and dumb, i rly don't like the FL, if u get to know kokdu i think he is a sweet guy eventhough he started to choke the FL.

the 2nd lead was the 1st lead's bestfriend that took the 1st lead's bf and now the 2cd ead is dating the 1st lead's brother ??? that's rly messed up amd weird

ok shin, gak shin, shin hong geun, oh kyung seung (pork restaurant couple) and kokdu were the only one that made the drama fun

still rly angry abt the FL her acting was not natural it doesnt rly fit her, she fits more in graceful family and she is rly pretty ?

like omg she just realised that kokdu is not a human eventhough it rly show sign from the beginning, stupid, in one line she was like "idc if ur a docter or an chaebol, i just want u to be a human", selfish and stupid, that's wht he is, she rly got on my nerves

Errr can I watch this only with kim junghyun, kim inkwon, and cha chunghwa?

I wish they got a different female lead. Maybe if they got Shin Hye-Sun as the female lead, it would be better. They were good in Mr. Queen and they got high ratings then. I will just wait for the ending, anyway there's only 3 episodes left.

Nate Mar 04 2023 5:20 am I really enjoyed watching Kokdu: A Story of Guardian Angels, especially the performance of Kim Jung Hyun. While it may not appeal to everyone, I found it to be just right for me. The storyline was engaging and unpredictable, making each episode worth the wait. Im Sohyang, Gaksin, and Oksin also did a great job in their roles.

As an Indonesian viewer, I have a great appreciation for this drama and its talented cast. I hope to see Kim Jung Hyun, Im Sohyang, Gaksin, and Oksin return in future projects. Saranghaeeee! I have been a fan of theirs since Mr. Queen.

But i'm sorry, i'm not sure i can watch it peacefully without feeling like throwing up. You know, she just can't understand human language while acting like a naive person. The story is a bit scrambled for me but I'm glad the writer able to give answers the next episode or scenes which keeps me hooked and a lot of things happened since the first two episode which is nice and not draggy. All in all for me, this drama is so great and cant wait to see how this ends, and for me, the costumes, effects are lovely. And I'm glad Junghyun is back on his feet, and I'm a big fan of Soohyang ♡♡♡

laura jung Feb 20 2023 11:31 am han gye-jeol character is a bit annoying but sometimes she's funny too.. also the script is kinda so messy that make me bored to watch their dialogue. Kim Junghyun acting is good for Kokdu character but not with Lim Sohyang for Gye-jeol.

I more interested with Hanchul & Tae Jungwon love development, their story is funny and cute haha also Okshin & Gakshin who lift up the whole mood

The acting...feels very comical and there isn't much seriousness in the drama either. Yet, I'm enjoying it. In my opinion, the actors are doing a good job but it's just the storyline and direction of the drama calls for them to portray their characters the way that they are. It's very cringe but again not THAT bad.

As for the wardrobe I have noticed them putting too many 30 and 40 year old women in bows and granny cardigans lately in a few dramas.

Do Jin Woo was a different person. He was murdered. The Kokdo diety just took over his body for the next few months. He was horrible for not moving along into the afterlife so god decided to let him be vengeful while also looking for his beloved every now and then on earth. He is getting his sea legs.

peanut Feb 04 2023 7:32 am Im really glad I stayed after ep 1, the editing are still messy but ep 3 was like a GEM, absolutely hilarious!!! And I love how fast paced the story is. The plot is fine, but the acting and the more importantly the script is very entertaining. I just wish the director was on the same page as the writer tho, some scenes just miss.

I liked the first two episodes because it was funny and he really did justice to the 3 characters he is portraying. He is really good at action, drama, and comedy. I'm looking forward to the next episodes. As for actress im soo hyang, it's my first time watching her in a kdrama.I love her character as gye jeol she is cute. And it's a bonus that cha cheong hwa and kim in kwon are also in it, it's heartwarming to see them reunite with jung hyun in a drama after MQ. Fighting Kokdu Team! ?❤️

It's look so distrubing. After watched 2 episodes i really appreciate the main actor and actress, they had sooo much line to remember not only in one scene but almost every time they met. All the cast did a good job with their acting, but the story and production really need to be corrected.

She may be quiet but now she act like clumsy and cute. Kim Da som is so pretty in there. Ahn Woo Yeon is also good. Cha chung Hwa and Kim In kwon have great supporting role. Best supporters. Kim Jung Hyun / Kim in kwon and Cha Chung Hwa already had chemistry. Kim Jung Hyun never had lack of chemistry with his female leads. He always good together with his female leads.

Kim Jung hyun / Cha Chung Hwa after cloy and Kim In Kwon are reunion after Mr.Queen ( Highest rate drama) . Can't wait to see Cha Chung Hwa and Kim In Kwon 's chemistry too. The father was going to die so the grim reaper made a deal with him, to show him around and let him live like a human and he grants him more time on earth. I cant wait for this one.
