Kim Jung-Ho (Lee Seung-Gi) is an extremely smart man. He used to work as a prosecutor, but, due to his father’s corruption scandal, he quit his job. He has been unemployed since that time. He owns a building and lives off the rent collected, while also living on the rooftop of the building. Kim Jung-Ho is good friends with Kim Yoo-Ri (Lee Se-Young). They have been friends since they were high school students about 17 years ago. Kim Jung-Ho has held a crush on Kim Yoo-Ri for a long time.

Kim Yoo-Ri is a beautiful and smart woman. She is also driven by justice. Due to a past experience with a guy, she has decided to stay single for the rest of her life. She works as a lawyer for a big law firm, but, one day, Kim Yoo-Ri quits her job. She then opens "Law Cafe" in the building that Kim Jung-Ho owns. The cafe serves coffee and legal advise. Anyone can stop by and drink coffee or get legal counseling.

Yeruchii Aug 20 2024 7:58 am I was gonna watch this after seeing Kim Seulgi in one of the snippets but it seems like she's not one of the main cast which is a bummer and the reviews aren't looking good so off I go.

Park Min Feb 04 2024 5:44 am Right off the bat the technical problems were too glaring to ignore. The washed out black levels were a true eye sore that I had to make a custom color profile for it through the media player. A big portion of the drama was shot in direct bright sun light which amplified the problem even further. Enough technicality, the drama was supposed to offer a mix of romance, comedy and law, although hints of these genres do exist but the drama did an outstanding job in failing miserably with incorporating and mixing each one of them. They may throw some cheap lines within the legal field but that wasn't enough to qualify it to slap the law genre tag, let alone its name. I find it hard to believe that someone would find this funny. I think even our primitive ancestors would have a hard time with it. Finally, anything involving the romance as a concept was unquestionably broken. They couldn't even have a chemistry running despite being the first step for any kind of romance. Lee Seung Gi shouldn't have accepted this project. For dramas that waste 90% of its runtime on absolute nothingness, this drama would have a strong placement in my Top 10. With all that being said, unfortunately, this drama isn't the worst of its kind; I've seen worse.

Wolfie Oct 18 2023 10:16 pm Hmm I thought Se Young (Jang Geum's Geum Yeong) would be great in non Joseon series. But I'm truly disappointed with this one. The story line is forced and filled with non believable details. Do Se Young really only good in historical series?

The upcoming "Park Marriage Contract" is combining her best habitat (Joseon) and the modern one. She might break a leg, I hope so.

Btw, she could be the most successful among Dae Jang Geum casts of her generation. Best wishes, *Geum Yeong* :)

So Lala Feb 14 2023 11:44 am I'll just assume both Lee Seunggi and Lee Seyoung do this just for fun. I mean, the chemistry is good guys, even with the side characters, and LSG & LSY definitely seem to be giving their best as friends-turned-couple who have loved each other for 17 years. I can see both willing to did those cringe-prone scene and give their all, but unfortunately, something about this drama itself pretty much turned down their effort; maybe the story, or the script, but it's really giving "unserious" and feels like insulting the willingness of the actors. Such a waste when the actors really did great really, even the villain. That's why I assume that, especially the big stars, just did this drama for fun in the middle of more serious projects. They did those "give-it-all" actings as their own stress-relieve, not in term of "working passionately". Honestly their acting and chemistry whether as a couple or as a group are what makes this drama bearable, at least in my own experience.

Watch-it Jan 23 2023 9:37 am This drama really melts my heart. If you're hesitating because of comments that this movie is boring, don't care, just watch it.

I'm the type of person who doesn't like to talk at length. If I had to describe it in one word, it would be "Warm".

I think what makes this drama great is the acting of the cast and their story. It has the touch quotes that I wanna save for myself.

You definitely shouldn't miss it.

Janet Jan 22 2023 9:08 pm If this drama came out in 2016-2017, it would have been extremely popular, or to anybody who is just starting to watch k-drama, this would be a good recommendation. I'm only saying this cause I've watched k-dramas for couple years and got bored cause I was predicting everything that was going to happen. Had I watched this a few years I would have been obsessed, thinking this is one of the best dramas, but I don't know. It fits the genre of Rom-Com K-dramas, that was released in that year.

Everybody got a different perspective on it, 'to each their own' I guess. I hope you understand what I'm trying to say.

Now I really enjoy this drama...lee seung gi acting is daebak..what I alway like about him is...he really can potray a guy who fall in love...his teary eye always make me fall in love with him again and again like his previous drama...korean odissey. I'm screaming when lee seung gi won daesang for this drama. Congratulations!

I usually never leave reviews on any site but i just couldn’t look pass this one, the negative comment on this site about this drama makes me wonder if we actually watched the same drama, This drama is not boring at all, neither is it slow or disappointing in any way. in fact this is one of the best kdrama this year with a beautiful plot, story line , character with a lovely and satisfying ending.

I Read the reviews before i watched,I was discouraged but thank Goddess i had faith in Lee seung gi oppa, i just knew he would never disappoint, would have missed such a heart warming, romantic and beautiful drama, don’t even get me started on the crazy chemistry and level of skin-ship between the leads??

so all in all, this is a beautiful drama 10/10, don’t let the wrong negative comment discourage you..watch the movie and enjoy, don’t watch it and you’re gonna regret it.

Yes I know there was history between them but it didn't really add anything to the show, to me it took away from the show. They should have focused more on the lawyer and court than trying to get the bad guy.

Terry Nov 01 2022 5:43 pm Ok my honest opinion of the show was that it wasn't always bored. It started off slow and there were really good parts but there was also really mediocre parts. I didn't understand the relationship with the leads at all. I understood she chased him until he was caught then decided it was too much when he wanted more. That was ridiculous and the other relationships falling apart at the same time to solidify why she didn't want to escalate the relationship was dumb. I know the action isn't up to LSG's normal standards in fact he gets hurt a lot in the series but it was just a light romcom at the end of the day. Do I plan on watching again, no. But I definitely finished it and I am glad I did.

If you're a big fan of these two leads I'm sure you will enjoy like I did.. If you're only rooting for one lead and u don't like the partner maybe it's not for u. Whatever Seyoung project I always support and never complain.. Maybe it takes a while before we can see another project from her. 8/10 for me

NamHeeJin Oct 26 2022 11:31 pm Sorry but this is Seung Gi’s worst drama ever. I watched ep 1-4 and skipped after many weeks to 16. I couldn’t stomach the romcom scenes. Maybe it’s just me but they felt forced. Couldn’t see the chemistry between the leads. For some reason they acted better apart than together. The script was meh but the villain did well. I hope they both find good dramas next time. But they really felt like brother and sister than lovers despite the cheesy scenes. Even at the wedding scene, I was more entertained by the officiant. First time it happened to me in a SG drama! Very different from SG’s previous rom dramas.

Side Note: I had dramas I didn’t like but was still able to watch the whole thing faithfully, but this one just didn’t fit. Couldn’t do it. If you liked it, good for you! (no sarcasm intended) Hope you had a great time.

Episode 8 had me screaming ? of course - for most of their lives growing up those older villagers would have grown pot & used it as a medication ?. Another mess the US inflicted on the world - pot wasn’t illegal in SK until 1979, & that was purely because of smuggling - opium was the biggest problem. I had to laugh when that doctor muttered about addiction while any medical person would know that alcohol is the biggest problem. The US is finally getting a clue at least.

K Guiley C Oct 18 2022 12:18 pm I tuned into this drama mainly because of the leads-Lee Seung-Gi and Lee Se-Young, having seen them in”Korean Odyssey” (which made me fall in love with their acting). Their chemistry in Law Cafe was awesome- and real. Lovers quarrels amongst some great kissing scenes. I love that Lee Se-Young’s character dressed sharp and was feisty. I especially adored Ahn Dong-Goo and Kim Do-Hoon in this drama. They brought the cafe together and made the cast fee like one big family. I’d love to see these actors again in lead roles. Jo Hahn-Chul represented the “bad guy” perfectly. His character was one of my favorites. His acting is supreme. Altho I enjoyed Lee Seung-Gi in this drama-he’ll always be the Monkey God to me. I’m obsessed with that portrayal even more than his performance in “Vagabond” which was amazing!. So kudos to you Lee Seung-Gi for mastering another character. You’re versatile to say the least! (And you sing? Found you on Spotify-crazy talent)!!!

Kim Yu Ri, played by Lee Se Young, is a unique character who is certainly very loud BUT very mature and knows how to self-question and analyze the situation. Her way of thinking and doing things is something remarkable that we don't often see in dramas.

This makes all its charm!

The drama is quite comedic but can be serious as well. Great watch for me! Just watch the drama without being objective, without comparing it to other drama. Maq Yusuf Sep 24 2022 10:47 am common romantic drama stories. in the past had a special relationship and suddenly meet again. I don't like it when all they do is fight. Personally, I somehow wasn't interested in the story, even though Lee Seung Gi in "Mouse" and "Vagabond" were amazing.

The other players are also less prominent and less visible. I stopped watching in episode 4. I got bored too quickly and wasn't interested anymore, again leaving the title "Law Cafe" which was only interpreted as the setting of their strange romantic story. The title is not used as the main storyline.

I stopped watching it despite Lee Seung Gi. I watched all his dramas before this and I don’t understand how he accepted this. Wait, I actually do. He wanted to act as a professional (lawyer). But the script is so bad I can’t— ?.

I love how they bicker with each other. Overall, it’s a good drama and I highly recommend it. Watch it now if you don’t want to be spoiled by others because it will have no thrill anymore.

Meantime i am curious how the viewers react on its ongoing showing and its rating.. the way i look at it the show didn't satisfy and thrilled the viewers. The pilot ep is like the crucial point that supposedly would keep and attracts (more) viewers but the rating is saying it. Seems the series is on the verge of thoughts like "to continue" or "to not continue watching" and "wow! I love to watch this" feeling of the people.. I hope the director of this show will put more efforts with his project. I had watched a lot of series that has simple plot but turned out good and i gave more credits to the directors (ofc aside from the actors). I am LeeSeungGi's fan and i would wait TLC on Netflix . I wish The Law Cafe rating will climb more..

mystery Sep 13 2022 5:39 pm It a great drama.. each cases was very remarkable and just brings so much emotion and life lessons. And the Great chemistry of main lead.. Those wo were complaining after 1-2nd episodes .. It was just the introduction of characters.. this drama is so good. We don't need to analyze it. for it is balance with realistic approach + comedy and slice of life.

I drop this after watching 2 episodes bcs imo the story is boring and it feels like something is missing so the plot feels bland. And the directing tho is just meh.

Elena Sep 11 2022 6:45 am Ufff, I like the actors but the first episode was soo boring because each time they break the 4th wall in the form of an interview it completely pulls you out of the story. I wish that they would stop with that kind of nonsense or if you want to keep it at least start with a powerful scene and continue with "let's tell you how we got here" and after that add the interview parts where they punctuate what it was on their mind at that moment.

Also, the way they introduced the characters it was boring. I think everyone would have been pulled in much faster if it would have started with the drama related to her father and why she wanted to started a law cafe.

I want to give it another chance but I'm not sure that I will have enough patience.

IWANZ Sep 09 2022 6:17 am i love this drama. it is only in ep 2, but i love the simple story, how the characters tell us the story and the their background with numerous flashback but not diusturbing the continuation of sttory in each episode. the color, the shading, lighting are so good visual. it is artistic, i dont know why but romantic comedy from KBS is always colorful, soothing and beautiful. romcom from other tv station usually cannot get the color and visual as good as kbs, only good in posters but cinematography not that satisfying, but kbs is different they are good with editing and cinematograpphy

Lee seung gi is the MVP here. he can express anger and excitement with both words and gesture corrrectly, really good and realistic, not plain not exhilarating, with handsome lok and great acting like that he can do many romance comedy nicely.

I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I watched for LSG & LSY and they didn’t fail me. Truly an interesting first episode, Seyoung is made for comedy!

I don't wanna judge the drama is refreshing since it's a slice of life I hope they will make it interesting per episode I badly waited for this.

I don't know if the succeeding episodes will be better, but LSG's acting here is so awkward. Definitely different from his other shows. Hwayugi and Mouse were so interesting from ep 1. But this one--I don't know. I don't have high hopes. Not sure if it's the storyline or the script, but both Seung Gi and Se Young are not at their best. They were so good together in Hwayugi, I don't understand why they are failing here. Oh well, I'll probably finish this just for the sake of finishing it, but definitely a no-no. Sorry Seung Gi. I tried.

The female lead in cafe minamdang is so annoying whereas in law cafe was written with a solid background. Even the male lead has some kind of transitions.. being light and happy outside but he has a serious side on him in a given scenario which is so good when you just follow the novel.
