Asuka Nakamachi (Tsubasa Honda) is 30-years-old and single. She achieved her dream of working as a teacher, by teaching at a high school. Due to a case, she is unable to continue her teaching position. She suddenly begins work at a dormitory where 7 members of an unpopular boy group live. Her job is to do pretty much everything for the group, including cooking and cleaning. There, Asuka Nakamachi also meets her former student Dan Sagami. He is now the leader of the boy band. Even though the boy band hasn't found any success, Dan Sagami is devoted to the group and his role as the group's leader. While watching him, Asuka Nakamachi regains her passion she had as a teacher and she faces the frustration she holds.

i started watching this around the time it came out but just finished it today because i finally got myself to continue watching it (i thought they’d disband completely and didn’t want to see that happen lamo) but i Lovedddd the casting so much! i was a huge fan of takahashi fumiya (dan) and miyase ryubi (naru) before this so i was surprised to see they were acting along side each other again, and it’s safe to say they did not disappoint ! i’ve become a fan of everyone else in the group while watching the show though, especially noa (takumi) and coki yamashita (takara)!! (everyone else is absolutely amazing too)

not to mention their dorm is Soooo cute omfg i really love the design and decorations and everything and i really enjoyed their “8loom assemble!” scenes. also at one point their manager introduced his boyfriend while they were cleaning the dorm and in the first 8loom assemble scene they talked about love to help dan out with his song, and when they mention takumi dating a boy i was like wait What?! so it’s great to see some queer representation here!

i’m also SO surprised that yukiya and takara aren’t singers irl but their voices are amazing? all of them have great voices especially eiji and ryusei in my opinion and i love 8loom’s songs so much that melody was in my top 10 songs in 2022 !!

dan and asuka’s relationship was a bit weird at first to me as she was once his teacher and now his housemother but they were pretty cute we can’t lie ??‍♀️! it was nice that she was the one who told him to keep going with his dream and that he pursued her first. also it was great to see nao Finally giving into yukiya and holding his face board thing when she was watching the online concertttt ! i was sick of yukiya chasing her and her giving him some sort of angry treatment just because she only cared for dan and dan didn’t like her back !

asuka’s sister yuri was also so cute and funny though, her being a naru fan !! so real

really hoping for a season 2 though because this casting was sooo good!! hope to see them all againn !

M Apr 22 2024 2:00 am I like this series so much but I was so annoyed at Dan the whole time. It made me want to discontinue watching because he is always angry. It is so annoying.

Dani Feb 02 2024 8:18 am First of all this drama is Such a feel-good drama and has a feel of nostalgia in it. You get both a glimpse into the 20-something-aged young adults and also in the 30-year-old adults. So you can relate to a lot of situations and emotions. Also, their apartment where they live is designed so well that it really gives such a nostalgic family vibe that is Actually being lived in.

I know there will always be people focussing on the fact about the age difference between Dan and Asuka. But honestly, it didn't bother me at all because it was executed really well. Dan is most likely 22. (In Japan you usually graduate HS at 18). The romance is sweet and innocent. And for once it was refreshing to see a drama about an older female being approached by a younger male. In so many drama's it's always reversed.

Asuka's personality is so endearing and likeable (honestly she reminded me of Tohru Honda from Fruits Basket at times). I am one year away from 30 and here to say that it really is just a number. For anyone thinking she shouldn't be like this or behave more 'mature'. Her personality being like this and the way she acted made it So much more realistic and relatable. We often don't have it together by the age of 30, esp in this day and age. So it was really refreshing to see a normal picture presented of a woman in her 30's who's still struggling with life or issues.

The friendship aspect and what they go through, how they grow is so heartwarming. I am close to finishing this drama but I couldn't wait to write a review. It has caught my heart.

Mio Jan 28 2024 11:45 am Still eps 1 but I don't like the teachers characters she is too naive for her age and speak at the wrong place example when the ceo said she will terminated their contract and she suddenly interfered in the middle and shouting to the boys why they dont talk back to the ceo, it doesn't make sense to me. As a person who still dont know about the boys it doesn't feel right to say what you think right when you don't know what struggle they've been through its too irresponsible.

But well will see for the next eps hopefullu the teachers characters will not over exaggerated.

Best jdrama I ever saw it was emotional ,romantic and also we can say that it tells that how much difficulties a famous person have in their life we all think that they are nice ,they don't have any problem , we envy their lives but in all this we forget that they are also humans they also have a life we all want them to be not with anyone but they also have lives they can also like someone. We all should support them and like that but we shouldn't make their lives difficult and if any news spread like they are dating anyone we all should support them not hate them .

Fortunately director Toshio Tsuboi gave us a happy ending, otherwise we would have had to see the usual ridiculous and incomprehensible ending that many Japanese films reserves us, where it seems that the most important thing in the world, LOVE, is never possible, indeed it is literally hindered or bandit. I don't know if the caracter of Asuka Nakamachi represents the Japanese woman well, but it's not the first time I've seen a character like this in a Japanese TV-Series. It seems quite common. Very moving, the goodness, patience and sweetness that characterized her. A women lika Asuka Nakamachi her in Italy woul come sanctified immediately. Kind Regards from italy

Mina_San Aug 16 2023 9:10 am This is Soooo good!!!! I am over here kicking my legs in the air at how hot Sagami is. Anyways— I loved the context and the fact that I got a free concert in that show! The songs were great and I loved how Sagami and Asuka’s relationship developed. I ship them a little too hard now. Well anyways. The show is really well written and I found it really interesting. I do hope they make a season two though! I would love to see Sagami and Asuka have a happy ending by the end of it, too!!

Eva Mar 28 2023 4:42 pm Enjoyable series, but from a Western perspective it’s hard to understand the plot line regarding Asoka and Dan. It seems absurd and cruel that fans expect their idols to refrain from having private lives (and that the agents who promote the idols enforce this scenario instead of being the adults in the room). Fans want the idols they love to be unhappy robots that do nothing but perform for them? That is not love. As this series demonstrates, idols are merely human beings and they deserve the same consideration that all human beings deserve.

Yumeka Feb 19 2023 10:44 pm While I wish there had been more time to develop each character's back story and dive into the side plots (Asuka's sister and fiance's, for example), I really enjoyed this show. Sometimes the acting was a bit rough, and the non boyband music was a bit meh, but it still was a great story and really moved me. I legit cried a few times. Especially since I am a former high school teacher, I really felt for Asuka. There is so much pressure for teachers here. And I think it is quite common for students to fall for a young teacher like Asuka. I thought she and Dan made such a cute couple and I so wanted to see them together! I think the end scene was trying to imply with the "beginning hug" that they would date, but then the show ends and we never see them as a true couple. Even so, if its just as former teacher and student their relationship is so sweet. I loved the hanamaru. It was a lovely expression of their feelings and admiration for each other.

I really hope there is a season two. The songs are so good i cannot stop listening. Plus, I just want to see everyone grow more, and for Dan and Asuka to go on dates! I love the oneesan stories. I want to see her succeed!

Larraine H Feb 10 2023 3:53 pm It was good but slow in the beginning…. Could have more laughter… got better as it went on. I don’t usually watch Japanese because they are usually slower than Korean. Over all I give it an 8 out of 10 the actors were really good!!
