Do Ji-Ui (Lee Jae-Wook) is a plastic surgeon and works at a university hospital. To serve as a public health doctor, which fulfills his mandatory military requirement, he quits the hospital. He wants to avoid getting assigned to work on an island, due to trauma he has about the island and the sea. Unfortunately for Do Ji-Ui, he is assigned to work in the remote island village of Pyeondong-do, which is a notorious island that every public health doctor wants to avoid. There, he meets Nurse Yuk Ha-Ri (Shin Ye-Eun), who works in the public health branch of Pyeondong-do. She used to work at a university hospital, but, for some reason, she came to Pyeondong-do and works here as a nurse. She has passion for her work and affection for her patients, but she also holds a secret.

Serving as a public health doctor in the remote island village Pyeondong-do, Do Ji-Ui helps the island villagers and learns love from them, who are full of stories and personalities.

Jillibean Jun 14 2026 2:30 am @Velle, the villagers are mellowing out more by episode four, they are apologizing for their former rudeness and warming to the doctors.

Again, remember Character Growth in Korean dramas is a staple of their storytelling technique, which is partly why Korean dramas have become so popular worldwide. It's beautiful to see that transition.

Jillibean Jun 12 2026 1:56 am The two main characters will end up healing each other as they fall in love. They both have different traumas in their lives and the way they will come to terms with those hurts will be through love.

Character growth in Korean dramas has been a staple of their drama stories for decades and it is in such sharp contrast to most television shows in America: the way characters are at the beginning of an American series is the same way they will be at the end, while in Korean dramas the characters will not be the same people at the end of the story as they were in the beginning.

If you understand this about Korean dramas you will learn to be patient while watching their storytelling process.

sf Jun 10 2026 12:45 am Yuk Ha-Ri's character is too disturbing; to me, it becomes annoying. It is all over the place. If the title of the drama is "Doctor on the Edge," then let's focus on the male lead character rather than the simple nurse. Until now, it looks like Yuk Ha-Ri is the centre of this drama.

Dr. Do seems too much stupid make thing that can be solve by communicating solve in hard way because he choose to not communicate and moreover in modern day with foldable phone in hand there is no car / bike available to be use for patients visit standby at hospital like all they have there is two feet, boat and helicopter. The actor and actress deliver good performance but the writer is too dense creating unnecessary and unnatural problem just for the sake of plot story. 3/10 for the drama based on the story writing alone. Not sure if i can watch it till finish.
