Heo Saek (Lee Joon-Ho) is a lovely young man. His mother was a gisaeng and he grew up at the gibang (place where gisaeng work). He becomes the first male gisaeng in Joseon, a time when women suffered from oppression. Hae-Won (Jung So-Min) is a beautiful woman with a progressive way of thinking. They try to find true love.

Donna Sep 19 2024 2:21 pm Why was Yook-Gam called Beggar King? Or King Beggar? but Yook-Gam denied it, please explain why two beggars called him Beggar King, at 31 minutes and 26 seconds into the film, what was the point of that? Was he the King of Josean diguised as a beggar? Or what?

TS Mar 13 2022 12:16 am I came across Homme Fatale by accident but really enjoyed this movie. Junho is a delight to watch every time I see him on screen. I know a lot of viewers would prefer this to be a drama so they can see more developed character backgrounds, but for a movie it was still pretty easy to invest in the story plot for an hour or so. Nice job!

CJ Dec 25 2021 12:15 pm Cute movie, but I wish it had been a drama instead of a movie, because we don't get enough time to learn about the characters and their backstory or see a more fleshed out character development. There were moments that were sad and I felt like I was supposed to cry, but I didn't cause I felt very little attachment to the characters. Maybe I just watch too many dramas idk. Maybe a few years down the road they'll make it into a drama to give the story more depth, similar to what was done with the movie Masquerade.

At first I felt this is some funny comedy they even use modernday phrases and even english . But really this movie can be enjoyed by people who love serious plot too because it is not some just funny one tthis movie actually touch some sensitive topics .

So this movie is basically light and fun at the same time its also will breake your soul. I watch this while smiling and crying. I really do expected of happy ending for both leads..however its still happy ending because they both knew their love exist even tought its in the past but they hold and embrace their memories so that they will not forget each other..

I really cannot go through the movie that has time lapse or time pass or all about time because waiting is terrible. Same with this movie

Aya Jun 14 2020 3:49 pm I decided to watch this movie, because I was looking for something light, cute and funny, but don't be fooled by the premise. This movie has some really sad moments. I do agree that this would have worked better as a drama, because that would give the characters and the story more time to develop. It doesn't mean that I didn't enjoy this though. It's an interesting story with a bittersweet ending. Definitely worth a watch.

The actors are great, the plot is also great, its almost same as what have had happened in the old times (I have read tons of Korean History archives) and I really do not expect a "happy ending" for the two main leads (I wont spoil lol) but the ending was good. I cried tho, it was very touching hahahah. And I laughed so hard when Jun-Ho started a monologue and its the lyrics of Wonder Girls' Tell Me. (Sorryyy I can't keep it to myself). Overall, I do recommend this if you want a good laugh and cry.

The premise would have been great as a series, where the story and the characters could have been given time to grow, but this was a boring mess. You can see what it could have been in the last scenes. Not much time spent on JunHo actually being a male gisaeng. The lead in scenes tell the ending...I hate when they do that. 2 stars....and that is only for the cast.
