Cheryl Jun 05 2025 7:27 pm I just finished watching this for the third time. The chemistry between Song Ji-Eun and Sung Hoon makes this a fun drama to watch. I think the two leads make this drama better than it might be with different leads. The scene with Sung Hoon finally meeting his mother again is one of my all time favorite Korean drama scenes and the series always leaves me wanting more. The OST is good too and fits the series well. It's one of those dramas that I am always a little sad to say goodbye too.

It’s just an old fashion feel good movie!!!Sung hon is my favorite male actor and have seen as much of his dramas as I can. I love Song Ji-Eun in this as well and felt the 2 had awesome chemistry! I felt bad for the guy friend who liked her because he was very handsome and kind. Unrequited love. The actor who played the mother annoyed me so she obviously acted well! Loved the flamboyant secretary and the girl he liked! And most of all…..the happy ending!

Cadita Mar 30 2023 6:36 pm Well done. It was highly entertaining with the twists and the misunderstandings. The leads had great chemistry, and the writing was surprisingly good. The secondary love story (their assistants) was quite fun, too. Male lead crossed the line a few times in harassing her at work. (the lawyer in me cringed) Did not feel at all sorry for the writer (high school friend of hers) that had the crush on her. If he was such a great guy, he could have intervened (but did not) back then when she was being bullied. So, him ending up with the (self-absorbed, annoyingly petulant) news anchor was a just punishment IMO.

queenie Jan 03 2023 8:14 am I am on my third time watching this romance K drama. I love Sung Soon. He is one of my favorite leading men and he is right up there with all the Handsome Kdrama men. Song Ji Fun was perfect for the female lead in my opinion. Really felt the chemistry between them both with makes me want to watch it over an over again. K drama's are my favorite and have seen many, but this one I at the top of my list. I have seen a lot of his works and his talent keeps me coming back for more. I look forward to him in these roles and will be looking to watch the ones I haven't seen yet. I watched the first two seasons of Love ft. Marriage and Divorce only because he didn't return. Looking forward to watching more of his work!

Michelle Dec 29 2022 4:05 pm I love Korean dramas. Unfortunately this is not one of my favorites. The acting was poor, I don’t know if it’s because that’s the way they were directed to act or if they are just poor actors. The male lead is decent looking, but he’s acting leaves a lot to be desired.

livo May 24 2022 12:29 pm male lead is gorgeous and the female is super cute, and they look good together. a bit dragging with lots of flashbacks tho. would be perfect if it is an 8 or 10 episode drama. Ost is good and the kissing scenes are abundance! I just wish they really get married at the ending scene. overall, it is entertaining.

A great storyline, a light but perfect romantic drama, nothing complicated, nice OST, a story that even when finished watching it, spins through your head. I liked the acting of all the characters but the leads, the acting so perfect and the chemistry between them is just amazing and sensual. And yes, Sung Hoon, what to say? He is steaming hot, sexy, charismatic and such an excellent actor. I really hope to see more of him. Song Ji Eun, gorgeous, beautiful and such a sweet actress. I rate this 10/10, recommend to watch it, i will definitely watch this a 2nd time!

I just loved how Jin-Wook could never forget Yoo-Mi, how he remembered everything, how that one night in his life changed him... He became better person because of her, more responsible and hardworking, and she was able to overcome her childhood fears and traumas because of him. They made each other better and complete.

That being said, I don't understand people who shipped Yoo-Mi and Hyun-Tae. I never even considered him as an option for her. From the start I was rooting for him to be with Hye-Ri.

Loved the Yoo-Mi style too. Her clothes were everything.

Loved the soundtrack too. It was really great, songs were so good and relatable.

And that scenes with Jin-Wook, Yoo-Mi and little Dong-Goo were so warm, and nice, and cute... Loved them as family, how they were walking through town holding hands, laughing, eating ice-cream... It was just perfect.

This k-drama was funny, genuine, full of love and great scenes. It had awsome characters.

After 4 years, I honestly think it's time for another drama like this. We as fans deserved it.

He just radiates sensuality.The rest of the cast did superior jobs as well. It was so neat to see glimpses of Lee Jung Shin who also sang on the sound track. This will absolutely stay in my saved movies.

After first 2 episodes, it gets extremely boring and messy. The characters are not likeable at all. Sad to say I regret watching this - waste of my time. This drama is a no.

I've watched a lot of Kdramas and most of them have the same story line, this one is actually refreshing. I would recommend this and would love to watch this again!

I always watch this drama after I have like a marathon of political dramas, war movies, criminal series, or even comedies. It just brings enjoyment and relaxation watching these two, even though I admit, it really doesn't make sense that the lead male character is abusing his power by making the lead female actor work overtime, and whoever says it's not romantic, they are so right. But this drama is okay, also the main soundtrack is really good too

The male lead was gorgeous and her little brother was adorable but honestly beyond that a lot of things didn’t really make sense. Like why did she go on a business trip with him. I love the look how clumsy she is how quirky trope being used as well. Also why was he so obsessed with her. She ran away after a one night stand and now he is obsessed? I wouldn’t recommend it it was just meh overall not the worst I’ve seen but nowhere near the top either.

I've been watching Asian dramas mostly korean for years and this drama is seriously basic, you know where the 2nd male lead acts like the boyfriend, the i'll-grab-and-protect-you-from-the-male-lead thingy things(?). I actually don't hate those kind of things but the way they deliver it is way too awkward for my liking. Some part doesn't make sense TBH. Like for example they have a meeting to expand their business (which is underwear for males) and the male lead brings the female lead to the meeting when she is a nutritionist?? Like why do you need to bring a nutritionist????? Underwear and foods ???? That part really don't make sense or any connection at all.

I don't even know how to rate this drama, I'll just give it 4/10. I won't/don't recommend you to watch this.

Eric Sep 17 2020 9:00 pm You know those slide shows at weddings that never end? The same song just repeats and it feels like hours of someone else’s memories that you don’t really care about? This show is a lot like that.

The first episode has some potential but whatever charm the show has disappears soon after. The characters become uninteresting and the whole thing is rather dreary. Worse, as it progresses, the episodes increasingly become montages of flashbacks stitching together a few minutes of story. By the end, I was hate watching it.

The production values are also pretty poor compared to most other shows. In particular, there are many issues with sound requiring frequent dubs.

It’s a shame, too, because the actors are all fine, despite having nothing to do much of the time. The premise is no worse than many Kdramas that are far more entertaining and fun to watch.

Do yourself a favor and avoid this one.

b Jun 18 2020 9:59 am boring romcom. i dont find all the characters very pleasing. cha jin wook's way of treating lee yoo mi is so bothersome since he literally abuses his power and makes yoo mi overwork herself just for his own enjoyment... it's so annoying and not at all romantic LMAO... there wasnt really much into the storyline, like everything that followed the one night stand was made out of nothing... please dont watch this... instead, just watch OCN's thriller dramas

I didn’t really like the few 3 episodes but it does pick up after a while and I did start to like it. I hardly ever watch just romance dramas but I think it is okay. Watch at least 3 episodes before you decide whether you like or hate it.

Johnny Dec 20 2018 10:46 pm Yes, this would be considered a chick-flick, and yes there were too many flashbacks but Song Ji-Eun is so adorable that it more than makes up for any series flaws. Seriously, I am a 50 year old guy and have never crushed so hard for an actress.

For a few seconds in the last episode, when Yoo-Mi is riding the scooter, I thought, "Wouldn't this be the saddest ending in the history of K-Drama if she got into a fatal accident?" Thankfully that did not happen ( upon reflection the first 12 episodes were too light and fluffy for that to be plausable.)

It is a very light hearted story, clear cut and very good help after I had just finished "Circle: 2 worlds connected", a much complicated and one-of-kind of production. Agreed that the ending can be better. Flashbacks are common in romance but too many, kill. Also think that the best scene is Sung Hoon having meal at his mother's restaurant. Very good emotion by Sung Hoon. Love all the casts...but especially love secretary Jang (Park Shin-Woon) and Kim Si-Young. The chemistry between Im Do-Yoon and Baek Seung-Hoon made me feel like joining their kitchen :)

Although I don’t speak “Hangul” (Korean) hearing the OST “Same” & “Nothing is Easy” sung by the lead actor, convey the language of love between the lead characters. Music indeed is a universal language.

Flawless Kimchi May 26 2018 4:22 am I don't care what others say about this drama but I really loved it. It was a short drama of 13 episodes only and I loved how it only focused on one story. It didn't have any other side stories and I liked how it had a proper amount of cheesy scenes in it. I kinda cringed On the first episode and I was thinking about dropping it that time but I somehow continued watching and from EP 2, I fell in love with it! The story is simple and not too complicated and I like that. I may sound quite childish and all but I like the drama the way it is. If you like complicated stories and such, this drama might not be for you. And about the production quality, it might be a bit cheap but if you watched Great Seducer, it had a great production quality but the story was bleh really annoying. Just my opinion but production quality doesn't always describe how a drama is like. If you're looking for a kdrama with a straight-forward simple story, My Secret Romance is perfect for you! <3

Amanda Blacksmith Apr 01 2018 1:49 pm Eye Candy for sure. And that is the main point tbh. I like it as a typical romance drama with a very predictable script. Good for a rainy evening. But if you want to find a more complicated plot it is not here.

What is quite annoying : flashbacks because i am sure that 40% of them are the content of that drama so I have to skip some, because seriously I will not see the same scene 4th time in a row.

A plot about mother was quite interesting. But she did such stupid things at the end that in fact I couldn't stand that. There are some ridiculous scenes. And at the end there was no point for them to be apart so it was quite forced in a script.

A very nice scene was the one with a mother in the restaurant. I love how Sung act it. It was really heart breaking and very sweet. But still I didn't get answer why she left him tbh. I wish second lead and his story was more developed and as same as the announcer's story.

Sooo if you have totally nothing to do with your time and you like sweet romance stories you can see it. Long looking into each others' eyes and that stuff. And female lead has always a face expression of scared Bambi. She is pretty, he is handsome - it works.

It is heart throbbing and at times you just want them both to get together when they just don't. The chemistry between the both is amazing and you really feel the love story come together. It isn't a series that has a massive twist or turn but i still think this is a good movie which you should give a try

Mikey Nov 04 2017 7:57 pm This is what I like to call "fast food" drama. Its real job is to give you eye candy to look at and cheesy romance scenes to make your heart flutter. Seriously, this entire drama felt like the fantasies of a teenage girl come to life. A ton of cliches, no real storyline, or conflict. It's just a bunch of arm grabbing, deep eye staring, dramatic crying, and passionate kissing. Oh, and lots of slow-motion replay with romantic ost music in the background. I enjoyed it until about the 7th episode. The issue with these type of dramas is that you often run out of stuff to show so they had to resort to using a lot and I mean A LOT of flashbacks. Watch if you just want light-hearted cute romance. Skip it if you want anything more, you'll get bored very quickly.

Mamo Oct 25 2017 4:14 am This drama is like an impotent man, it looks promising but ultimately it just fails to deliver, the script is HIGHLY lacking, it has no substance no inspiration can be drawn from it, the directing is very poor and the cheesiness is JUT TOO MUCH! Predictability of a script of a 'Kdrama can be forgiven when the script has some meaty bits but this is beyond shallow. I am so disappointed, especially considering that the lead actors have so much potential and this film didn't do them justice

gentle Sep 09 2017 4:41 am Okay fine..at this point, the criticism is getting overbearing and cliché. This drama never promised to be the pinnacle of art and model of excellent story telling. The fact that it is short should already tell you that. It his supposed to be a fun, sweet Romcom and the reason why it worked was that it did just that. The chemistry was the main strength of the drama and the reason for it's high popularity. I enjoy thrillers myself but this drama was a refreshing break from all that. If you want dramas that offer stellar story telling with all the twists and turns, there are multiple choices out there for you to choose from. This one works because it stuck to what it offered and...did it well.

I guess there's too much fast forward bcus evrythg happened so sudden tht i cant relate with. Too cliche and too predictable. Sometimes i feel so grossed about it. The story is simple and predictable but the chemistry between Lee Yoo Mi (Song Ji Eun) and Cha Jin Wook (Sung Hoon) is really amazing and i really want they date in real life. The OST is really nice as well especially the song Sung Hoon and Ji Eun sing together (The name is "same"). The background music also play at the right moments of this drama. I will definitely will watch this drama again when i have time for sure.

This is 10x better than Goblin for me .Because Goblin got that hype I watched it.I love it's OST more than drama.If you're boring because of Heavy story lines this drama can heal you.

The chemistry of the leads was amazing! Lots of realistic kissing scenes and of course the one night stand car scene was beautifully executed.

I had a lot of fun and heart fluttering feels from watching this drama. It's was very popular with international viewers and it has consistently ranked number 1 in Dramafever, just go to Youtube and they have lots of videos that has millions of views!

I definitely recommend everyone who loves a light, romantic comedy drama to watch this. Don't expect to see any amazing story or plots because this is not what this drama offers. Sometimes a simple love story is what we all need to watch once in a while.

Thanks to Sung Hoon because he saves the plot somehow this drama is boring because they fought for nothing and you just cant understand the main problem. As kdrama fan i consider this drama 4/10. 2 bonus points for Sung Hoon.

Min Jung Jun 23 2017 11:40 am I guess the only "not so good " with this drama is that there are lots of flashbacks with their kissing scenes in every episodes and I guess, it's their only way to consume the time for the drama; and also there is a lot of interactions with the main leads that it's kinda not exciting anymore. And for me, the Epilogue in every ending of episode is not so really appropriate to show what every character says what's on their mind. Overall, it is a good drama but it's kinda bit modern story.

In the first few episodes I didn't see this and immediately switched over to Chicago Typewriter which left me on the edge of my seat. I watched this drama to just pass of time. I didn't even have to follow along because the plot was very predictable. It's a lighthearted drama however and it's suitable for those who want a cliche romance drama and who find suspense too agitating. Something that contains nothing heavy but just purely romance. It's not for me though.

However, I have a general question...why do must of the lead actors wear a forward bank hairstyle. The lead actor, Sung Hoon, had a very stylish look and then they had him in the bangs in later episodes. I also notice that most of the flower boy actors have the same hairstyle. Is it a required look? I'm an American who loves Korean dramas and have always wondered about this.

After reading the plot I still gave it a try even though the description was too cliche. But no the drama is too predictable and I have read and watched a lot of books and films in the past that has exactly the same storyline as this one. I hate the absurdity and its lacking realisticity. Yes I watch A LOT of fantasy dramas but what I expect are realistic personalities of the characters and events. This drama is set in a modern era but it's honestly...just... I have no other words for it but absurd. I love Song Ji Eun And Sung Hoon but this drama is honeslty just cringing me to death. I hate the clicheness of it. I really cringed so much. I dropped this drama immediately after watching 'till episode 3. Sorry but I don't know how this drama has very high ratings and how it got really popular. But I wish that they do not publish/air dramas like these in the future.

The story was cute and so are the actors but it kinda suprised me that it only had 13 episodes and in the last episode everything got squeezed in. But omg. Lee Yoo-Mi is such a nice and stunning person, she must live such a hard life and still got the motivation to move on. And Cha Jin-Wook is as alwys an hot buissnes men that knows what he does. Even the side characters where sympathic. But yeah sometimes there were scenes that got repeated too much. But overall 9/10 ^^

Although intended to be a light hearted fluffy romance of obsession -- the title of My Secret Romance should be changed - to my one night stand - which seemed to be the overwhelming premise of the drama. Flashbacks were just not needed and took a 5 star drama down to 3.5 stars. I love the actors and actresses in this drama and this could have been a "classic romance" if not drawn out by trivial throw away scenes.

The best parts are kind of in all the clips and trailers if you find enough on youtube. Besides the obvious plot line, there is this annoying back and forth between the two leads that could have been resolved within an episode or two. Worse, the parents' roles which are usually a lot more in depth (the paying off the female lead, a mother shouting at the male lead, etc) was rather superficial. There might have been two or three scenes where something happened that you could find some kind of substenance. The actors in and of themselves probably aren't all that bad but this drama wasn't really worth spending the time...

If you're looking for a very realistic drama with elements of romance, then this drama is definitely not for you. This drama is more on the lighthearted side with less conflict. It's cliche, but not overboard and the plot has been used a lot of times. Even though it might rub off as a typical chaebol x average girl plot, the chaebol character of the lead has a different feel, almost dorky, which is one of the reasons I continued watching this.

If you're up to the lighthearted, less problematic and easygoing romance plot, this drama will be good for you.

She is really beautiful and in ep 6 when she turned her head to look at him in the office her side pic was beautiful, a lot of people when they have side shots they look different but not her and I love the way he looks. Her mother is a different story, she is some sort of piece of work and she should respect her daughter more and her little son.

The two really suit one another. Sunghoon does a phenomenal job playing Jinwook and the way he expresses Jinwook's feelings towards Yoomi is so immature but cute. I find myself falling more and more for both characters. However, I wish Yoomi's character could be more developed. And also, does anyone know why today's episode didn't air? :( I'm sad.

I think its half bcuz of the acting/the voices and sound effect and other half bcuz of the production...... Anyways i just finished eps 4 And waiting for the next eps. The acting has improved alot for sung hoon, but song ji-Eun can improve abit more.
