Byeon Moo-Jin was married to Geum Ae-Yeon (Kim Ji-Soo). They had a daughter, Byeon Mi-Rae (Son Na-Eun), and son, Byeon Hyeon-Jae (Yoon San-Ha), during their marriage. Byeon Moo-Jin attempted various business ventures while married, but they all failed. His family could not take him anymore and they cut him off from them. After going through a divorce, Geum Ae-Yeon experienced difficulties raising her two children by herself. Now, 11 years later, she works part-time at a big mart. Her daughter and son are all grown up. The daughter, Byeon Mi-Rae, wanted to become a person her mother could rely on. She works as the MD at a big mart. She is also the breadwinner of the family. The son, Byeon Hyun-Jae, has a unique charm, but he also the troublemaker of the family.

One day, Byeon Moo-Jin appears in front of his family as the owner of the villa building where they live. Byeon Moo-Jin hopes to reunite with his beloved ex-wife Geum Ae-Yeon and even tries to seduce her, but the daughter, Byeon Mi-Rae, is strongly opposed to her father's idea. Unlike his sister, Byeon Hyun-Jae supports his dad's attempt for reconciliation.

Meanwhile, Byeon Mi-Rae gets involved with Nam Tae-Pyeong (Minho). He was once a member of the national taekwondo team and now works as a security at the same mart as Byeon Mi-Rae. He hides his real identity and the fact that his father is the owner of the mart.

Brian V Jan 30 2026 9:50 am I just finished episode 6 of 12. How can anyone not like this show? The end of episode 6 was priceless!! The story lines are silly and fun. The acting by the four leads is solid and believable, but some of the villa residents are overacting. Overall, it's just a fun show. Not in my top5, but worth watching.

Son Na-Eun is gorgeous, and Minho has a very distinctive face that's a bit quirky. Kim Ji-Soo has a certain charisma to her. I have to laugh every time the director does a "pose" shot of Ji Jin-Hee.

I'm from Europe who recently got introduced to KDramas. I've watched about 20 already and I am Hooked ! "Reply 1988", "CLOY", "Glory" & "Goblin" are my fav so far. "Romance in the House" wasn't to my liking though. Not sure if its because of cultural differences. I didn't like how the wife allowed her teen daughter to kick her partner to the curb (who does that?!). And how she divorced him later (unilaterally). She says its because it was the right decision for her kids. But was it? Keeping aside the fact that he was driven out of his own family, penniless & without a support system, wouldn't it have helped if he was around and shared family responsibilities with her? Didn't her kids suffer more since she was the only earning parent? Granted that he messed up big time, but keeping him around would've helped far more than going at it alone. Kicking him out & divorcing him felt more retaliatory and out of spite than rational steps. As for the daughter, I don't wish her even on my worst enemies. Oh wait, maybe I do. Let those SOBs suffer ! There were some positives. How the daughter handled her work crisis was remarkable (but whining & acting like a teenager with every product supplier was cringe). I liked the hair dresser actually. She's a free spirit and I loved her vibes ! The boyfriend character was neither here nor there. I guess they had to add him to the story for the second romance plot. And as eye candy. I guess that's alright.

It’s very annoying they have a good idea for a plot and tell a good story then everything suddenly is wrapped up in one episode. This show was ok. The plot was good and the actors did ok. I liked the mum and the ceo the best. So much opportunity for more story that just wasn’t there.

Mirae is just so pretty, and I love how they portrayed her as the responsible first daughter, taking care of the household, exactly what every first daughter does in a family. The ending was perfect, and I’m really happy with how things wrapped up for everyone! And if there’s any negative review about this drama... there’s none! I can’t imagine how anyone could find a single flaw in it everything was good!! Some of those negative comments are just pure hate for no reason! I seriously don't get it! It’s a solid 10/10!!♡♡

He was cute and funny~ very refreshing. Wish he was in it more…and that his character was better treated throughout the show. All in all, I will miss these characters.

Shawn Sep 15 2024 4:33 pm Amazing drama. Na Eun, Minho, Ji Jinhee, Kim Jisoo, and Sanha alll did an amazing job. The storyline and supporting cast were also wonderful. I wish it was longer than 12 episodes, but the storyline and character development were great. I am now a fan of Na Eun, the actress, and not just the idol.

People are sleeping on her acting skills. Her character was amazing to watch develop throughout. Tremendous growth and dare I say I can see her actually marrying Tae Pyeong if we got a 16 episode drama. I would love to see her change her stance on marriage and celibacy. I'm going to miss this drama and can't wait to see Na Eun's next project(s).

The ceaseless misogyny about women to talk about men's tender hearts being stepped on...like, grow up this is a family drama told with the women's feelings being the centre of the story and its about the daughter finally getting to have catharsis after being parentified at a young age. Her string of bad romantic relationships is pretty telling of how badly affected she is. The focus on weaning her away and making her live her own life finally by both parents is a beautiful step shown in the previous episode. The poor son's absolutely neglected upbringing is completely neglected is a different story but the dad is not the victim here people. Sorry. The father knocked up his young girlfriend and then is shown he wallows in self pity because he was self-conscious about his failures? Thats bruised ego. Those who are the type that really step up swallow the pride and compromise instead of clinging. His sign of growing up is his now listening to his wife's analysis, reflecting on the situation with his daughter and realising Aeyon is right. Aeyon didn't get her dream wedding even(they only took q photograph while she was pregnant) and compromised all her life goals for him at a tender ae and he's the victim? That was a very young daughter in elementary school being taught to cycle, he knew she overheard and never talked to a literal child who forgive and forget in a day if you just hug them and say "whats wrong sweetheart what happened to your bicycle, are you angry with daddy? Come here daddy loves you" because all she needed was his immediate attention after failing his promise so him avoiding the talk makes it seem as if his great ego was so bruised he did resent and avoid responsiblity back then if he avoided a literal child. It makes sense why she is overly attached to her mom because that's the one parent who showed her unconditional love since childhood unlike the flake. He only opens his mouth when the 30 year old adult daughter snaps at him? Please. He was with them till she was in highschool and their relationship was fraught but he never communicated with her. Everything is about his tragedy? His sister owns a restaurant and took him in after the divorce we are already told in first few episodes. He could have overtimed there because you don't need to be superich to support a family but no he was wallowing in self pity and wanted to assuage his bruised ego so he could be someone BIG like his old buddies who left him behind, always taking out loans he couldn't repay for dumb business ideas and put his wife's new business as collateral on one such dubious loan from thugs!! He just never stepped up properly all his life. Its a different matter he is a very individualistic individual and made his family his "dream" and goal but didn't want to deal with the actual struggle and conflicts and detours. His children are literally grown up adults. His personal relationship and lovelife with Aeyon is irrelevant to the consequence on the children who need to heal from both parents failures and we follow this healing and growing up. A fun uncle life would have suited him better in life than pitying himself for failing and not shown trying to learn from mistakes when he should have.

So ep7 Mu Jin’s backstory explains a lot. would imagine that many never really recover from the tragic end of a promising career. You would write and rewrite your understanding of what went wrong. You would try to blame someone else, if you could. But look at Mu Jin, facing the horror he inflicted on everyone else and taking responsibility for it. And why does the absolutely adorably brilliant Ae Yeon keep giving him chances? “And to me, my family is the only home ground.” just melted . observation about the drama. this is a family drama. It is not a romance drama.-Only me. Guess it might be generation gap. Due to age is much much older than other viewers. . So focus is on family issue. This father really try hard to win his family back. so glad the conflict get resolved. the misunderstanding for years get cleared. Good story

anonymous Sep 02 2024 10:05 am Seems the arson was most likely sucide and a miunderstanding with the daughter. The neighbouring landlord who was a youngster who suddenly got rich and bought building is more likely culprit who defrauded the landlord and made him take the difficult step so he could leave some money for his family. The only named character possibly doing a crime is the dad's tax accountant friend who is having money issues and wanting to do fraud against the dad.

Shawn Sep 02 2024 7:55 am The reason why Mi Rae was so angry at her dad is because she overheard his conversation with his friend, who stated he gave up his baseball career because of having her the same day her dad delayed teaching her how to ride a bike. When her dad showed up later to teach her how to ride a bike, it was too late and she had broken the bike, hence started hating her dad from that point on.

People really shouldn't fast forward scenes. You miss so much when that happens. As of episode 8, her hatred is softening and she's warming up to her dad. We will see how he completely melt her hatred towards him. I hope he continues to be successful and they don't make him an arsonist/killer. I don't think they will, but anything is possible in kdrama land!!

But reading the other fan comments is kinda funny to me, like skipping others scenes coz they're only watching it for Na Eun & Minho or they're only watching for Ji Jin Hee, I mean, don't get me wrong, I do that too w/ other series I watch.

But I don't think this is that kind of drama, the supporting roles are fine, both couples are fine, just feel like it's a waste to not watch parts of it but then again, that's just my opinion. But if you're ready this from the future & thinking of watching it, I definitely recommend.

It's not an award winning series, but it's fine, entertaining, it doesn't revolve in one thing only (thus great supporting characters). For me that's something I like to watch, I can't take it when they just focus on the love story, or when the side characters are there to just fill in time, which is not like in here.

I am so hyped up and pumped for this drama, let's gooooo But I don't understand why people are castigating the FL daughter, she has every right to treat her father that way, because he caused the family so much pain and turmoil. Her father used to sort of be her hero, and he allowed the family go bankrupt that the mother had to resort to doing menial jobs, so I actually get her point. And someone has to do the rejection, because it will be too good to be true and very unrealistic if the whole family members embraces the father with open arms, you get my point. But the drama seems nice overall, I just hope the father isn't an arsonist!!!
