Lee Jung-Do (Kim Woo-Bin) delivers food for his father's chicken restaurant. He seems like an ordinary guy, who likes to play video games with his pals at internet cafes and talk with his friends over drinks. Yet, he is a prodigy in the martial arts. He has achieved the highest rank in taekwondo, kendo, and judo. When he sees someone in trouble, he doesn't think twice about helping them.

One day, Lee Jung-Do happens to see a martial arts officer being attacked by a probationer wearing an ankle monito and he saves the martial arts officer. After saving the officer, Lee Jung-Do begins to fill in for the injured officer for 5 weeks. He is partnered with probation officer Kim Sun-Min (Kim Sung-Kyun). As a martial arts officer, Lee Jung-Do's job is to help during physically dangerous situations. Kim Sun-Min's manages violent offenders who are on probation. While Lee Jung-Do works with Kim Sun-Min, Kim Sun-Min notices his talent for fighting and recommends that he work full time as a martial arts officer.

Some men are really disgusting. I wish they made this into a series because 1 hour & 44 mins wasn’t enough. I really love the tandem between jung do and his manager tho (thank god he didn’t die)

I don't know, give the police some guns, guys. It's perfect that guns are forbidden in Korea, but at least the police should have some more than just a few ... Somehow it is sad to see these scenes in every other K-drama: the police not being able to really protect and they just go clubbing like back in the back old times where humans lived in caves :/ just a random thought that came up while trying to write a comment, lol ;)

Sus Sep 27 2024 10:23 pm I loved Jung-do’s kind character. Juxtaposed to his superior fighting skills made him especially interesting. Kim Sun-min was likable as well as were Jung-do’s friends & his father. However the violence was a bit too over the top for me. A little unrealistic is ok, but reining it in a bit might be good. And my husband and I are going crazy, wondering why back up hasn’t been called! If an evil, violent & predatory runaway criminal has been located, why would it be up to one martial arts expert & his three video gaming friends to fight off the violent child sex trafficking ring & the runaway criminal? So often Korean films & dramas make the Seoul police look like incompetent idiots. Still, I really like Kim Woo-bin & it’s good to bring attention to such a hideous crime against innocent children. I’m sorry that I’ve read how widespread it is & that the punishment isn’t severe. When you think of the terror & trauma those kids experienced & will live with forever, the punishment for sexual predators should be so strict that it’s not only a deterrent, but keeps women & children safe. This really did seem like a pilot film for a drama series.

I just finished watching the movie, at first I got curious with the teaser and how funny the interactions with Jung Do but as the story goes by it’s getting deeper. For me, there are no boring scenes. There are plot holes here and there but the main point of the storyline was well executed. As you can see, probation officers are officers who lead the team while martial arts officers are somehow their companion that actually fight, anyway though qualifications were not stated, but as a “martial arts” officer, Jung Do is more than qualified with his ranks and all. Last take, Jung Do is an impulsive character with a sense of justice so it makes sense that he wants to beat up those guys without him holding back so that’s where I can point why he did not call a back up with him on the last fight. It’s easier to arrest a beat up and unconscious guy after all. This has a “can’t get enough” feeling that craves for one more movie/episode. Make it a drama with series of investigations and I can say many will still watch along with it.

However, Jung Do's character could benefit from a twist—he feels too perfect, making his fight scenes a bit bland. There are many ways to improve the story, like having Jung Do enjoy the violence a bit too much, or showing him rely more on his observational skills. Another interesting angle could be making him a vigilante, posing as a regular officer on his shift and beating the shit off deviant criminal without hold himself off.

The script plays it a bit too safe, which ends up feeling predictable. With Kim Woo Bin as the lead, I expected them to really go all out. The open-ended conclusion suggests a sequel, and I hope they take the opportunity to flesh out the characters and push the story in a more daring direction--again, we got Kim Woo Bin!

Sam Sep 15 2024 8:25 am This movie doesn’t make any sense. There were so many parts where characters took unnecessary risks and the lack of common sense just took me out of the movie completely. You know how sometimes a show is refreshing because the character is smart? This is the complete opposite.

There was one point where he had the perfect opportunity to call for backup or even just tell the police where the villain was, so they could circle the place and arrest him properly. Does he call them? No. Also, how does he get the role as a martial arts officer without any prior police training???? He doesn’t have any formal training goes completely off the rails with no officer in sight. Make it make sense

Lots of opportunities to grow the movie into a sequel or series due to the story line and roles of supporting actors. Would be good to have a female lead otherwise this is a great bro/buddy movie or series.
