Kim Myeong-Jun (Yoon Kye-Sang) is a poor man with a warm-heart. He desperately needs money to pay for his sick daughter's operation. At this time, his ex-wife appears and offers to kidnap 11-year-old Choi Ro-Hee, who has rich parents. Kim Myeong-Jun is desperate enough that he accepts her offer. For the kidnapping, Kim Myeong-Jun drives near Choi Ro-Hee's home, but he accidentally hits someone with his car. The person he hit is Choi Ro-Hee. She has lost her memory due to the car accident.

Kim Myeong-Jun takes Choi Ro-Hee to his house and he begins to live with her. Choi Ro-Hee believes Kim Myeong-Jun is her father. She is an extremely smart girl. Meanwhile, Kim Myeong-Jun wants to return Choi Ro-Hee to her parents, but they don't answer the phone. He decides to go their house and find out why. There, Kim Myeong-Jun witnesses her parents' dead bodies being carried out of their home. Making things worse, Choi Ro-Hee realizes thatKim Myeong-Jun is not her father and he is lying about their relation.

As well as the warmth and goodness of our accidental kidnapper and the wit of "victim", Ro-hee. A comfort watch,for sure. Congratulations to the entire team for an excellent production.

Yoon Kye-Sang did such a great work here, i have seen his other drama he is totally different here, and omg Park Sung-Hoon is soo soo goood, people who hated him in Queen of tears shld watch this he nailed his role, he indeed is a great actor. Kang Young-Seok he was perfect in his role, the first time i saw him in Welcome to Samaladri i knew he would be perfect in any villain role and here he is, he was such a cutie in Welcome to Samaldri. The child actor Yu-Na nailed it, she will become very famous in future, her acting is just AMAZING. the writer did a great job. This drama is 100000/10.

@Cheng - so far I don't see anything on the news that there is a plan for season 2. The drama is based on a novel which only has one book and the story is already completed.

Even if they push to make a second season, the result might not be as good since the original story is no longer there. Furthermore, by that time, Yuna and Eunwoo (who plays Hee-ae) might already be too big to continue playing the characters they left off at the end of the first season.

@Tanty I think he's nobody, he just said he's a guy who collects anything of value. Both Myeong-jun and Ho-young tried to protect Ro-hee from him.

Olyy Oct 25 2023 11:33 pm @sf if you rewatch the episode where she shares the disease you will learn she explains her dad did some research and treatments on her that stopped the virus or something in her body ofcourse it is just a drama thing. She lives healthily all those years but virus activates again in her body. It was a poorly writren plotpoint as her treatment made no sense.

Un modeste admirateur Oct 25 2023 3:28 pm “The Kidnapping Day” is the best drama of 2023 and even 2022–2023, among those I’ve seen. Because of my busy schedule, I only watch about 20 min of it per day before going to sleep. But these 20 min are just pure pleasure, like taking a relaxing shower. Also, watching at such a slow pace, I get to appreciate even more how much is packed in every second of every minute. Not one dull moment, not one filler scene in this drama. Exquisitely scripted and filmed. And the world-class performance of Yoon Kye-Sang and Yu-Na, inevitably becoming father and daughter, sometimes with words, other times with gestures, can only be compared to the performance of Jean Reno and Natalie Portman in “Léon: The Professional,” or Jean Reno and Ryôko Hirosue in (the less known) “Wasabi.” If you wished that Luc Besson would make a great movie like these again, don’t hesitate to watch “The Kidnapping Day.”

I recommend this move to those who likes suspense and crime plot of movies and series. Also, this is the first kdrama that I enjoyed and finished due to its great plot and its actors since Law School and The Glory. This would be one of my fave along with The Glory, Law School and Dong Yi.

If there will be a season 2 which involves the present actors and actresses in this season...I will definitely wait and watch it!

Blanca Trueba Oct 20 2023 3:25 am OK, I would have to say that episode 11 is the best episode of this drama (so far, depending on what goes next in the last episode 12 next week).

The last scene of episode 11 where Ro-Hee begs Myeong-Jun not to leave her, and when they are being separated by the police, is really heartbreaking. I seldom cry in front of the TV and I cried watching the scene, even after I watched it several times, OMG.

Yuna's acting performance is really amazing. And she was still 11 years old during the filming, wondering what will she become in the next 5-10 years. A new star in the making.

Mbokne Sapi Oct 19 2023 1:49 pm At the end of ep 11, Yu Na as Ro Hee is wonderful. She must got award for her acting here, also this drama. The story line, directing, acting ects are good. Chemistry between ahjussi and Ro Hee is wow. I think most of roles here are awsome, even the vilains.

But one think is not clear yet for me, Myeong Jun is smarter than Hye Eun (Hye Eun took Myeong Jun's papper test and get adopted coz the doctor think she the smarter one), but why he is acting like he is stupid? Did i miss something?

All involved should be commended. Writers, actors, producers. Looking forward to the next few episodes. I’ve been watching dramas for more then 20 years, and this will be among my favorites.

It's very fun to watch, no boring fillers so far. I hope it will get more and more viewers in the next episodes (still in ep 4 right when I write this).

I do believe thats why she is a genius .I don´t think her father was very loving or caring towards her, the story is very nice , btw he didn´t hit her with the car. She walked and fell down and was unconcious. I love the story

the pain of watching ongoing drama is.. i need to wait every week for the new episodes to release.

so, my comment for the first 4 episodes... this drama is okay. it's just i can't accept rohee's rude and bossy behaviour.
