Crown Prince Sajo Hyun (Park Ji-Hoon) has two different personalities. One is Sajo Hyun. While hiding his identity as the crown prince, he works as a fashion designer for a boutique store. He can’t get over the painful memory he got from his oppressive father, the king, while he was a child. His other personality is Ak-Hee (Park Ji-Hoon). He is an attractive man who can make people fall in love with him, but he is cursed that when he touches someone else, he feels extreme pain. These two personalities makes a deal to share their body for 3 days at a time.

Meanwhile, Yeon Wol (Hong Ye-Ji) was an only child and the successor of the Yeon Family, but her entire family was executed for her father committing treason. After that, she changed her name to Gye-Ra and joined an assassin group. One night, in order to kill the king and avenge her family’s deaths, she sneaks into the royal palace. Things don't go as planned and she falls into a trap. When she wakes up, she has become Crown Prince Sajo Hyun’s concubine and she doesn’t remember who she is. She faces Crown Prince Sajo Hyun and his different personality Ak-Hee.

Bagu Dec 18 2025 12:28 pm It took me a few tries to finally finish this. At some point, the Ak Hee plot annoyed me so much that there were episodes I didn’t enjoy. Still, I liked the show overall. I really liked Park Ji Hoon’s and Hong Ye Ji’s acting, and the main characters have good chemistry. The OST is the strongest point of the show—I absolutely loved it.

Cheesekimbap Mar 29 2025 6:42 am I think Park Ji-hoon's acting in this drama was so good, crazy how could of an acting performace he can pull off regardless of the role. The rest of the cast and drama is however pretty lackluster. Just another cliche historical korean drama with cursed lovers.

I really love romance and it was so disappointing to see. Even the plot of the romance was underwhelming like when the girl said to her lover to just sleep with the queen like wtf ? If sleeping with the queen meant to save the country or something like that and it was said with sadness I would have understood but no, it was for the sake of nothing.

Also to mention their acting, I love how Ji Hoon portrayed two characters, two emotions, two personalities in one series. Watch it and be satisfied.

A fun twist if R L Stevenson had decided to write a romance instead of a gothic novel. Because of this connection, I enjoyed this version as I kept seeing parallels and tropes. As a romance, of course, it had an HEA instead of a sad ending, and I found it satisfying. Park Ji-Hoon's acting was fantastic.

this last week I was reminded by a comment here that this story is originally a webtoon, and as I was already frustrated and disappointed by the series as a whole, I went to see if the webtoon was as much a dumpster fire as the adaptation, however I was absolutely surprised with a fairly good story with lots of twists that tied the whole plot and characters together and with a satisfyingly good end for every character. so the first question I pose is this: why take this story to adapt if you have no real intention to really adapt it? the story we watched in the series has at max the title and the names of the characters in the original and a faint, faint, very extremely faint shadow of some points in the original plot. otherwise everything is decidedly different. and for the worst! I won't ever be able to understand why they decided to change everything; if you already read the webtoon or has the intention to read (don't feel discouraged by the series if you found it disappointing, because the original has nothing to do with the adaptation and it's a read I recommend and find worth it if you were interested by the premise of the show) you are greeted with a story that is very much ready to go. it's not a story too absurd or full of flaws, or even a story too long or out of this world that needs to be deeply adapted to the screen; it's the opposite. I feel that this webtoon was a story that only needed to be transformed into a script. sure, some tweaks to make it video friendly would be acceptable, but what the screenwriter did with this story is madness. the extent of how much they butchered the story can only be known if you read the original. but best believe I'm not exaggerating.

(spoilers ahead)

first, I need to get the compliments out of the way. I chose to watch this firstly because of park jihoon, whom I absolutely adore and admire (and if you got to know him in this series I deeply recommend you watch him in weak hero, which I personally consider to be a masterclass in everything regarding storytelling for TV and acting and he is incredible there as is the whole cast) but the premise was really intriguing and I was very excited to see more of his acting and in that regard I was not disappointed; considering the nothing he was offered in reality with this story, he did a pretty good job with the characters. and I can extend this compliment to pretty much the whole cast; no one was really offensively bad, they did good with what was handed to them. just felt really sad to see woo heejin, whom I know from moon lovers, portraying such an annoying, futile and ridiculous side character.

now, about the show as a standalone.

pretty much by episode 6 or 7 I was already confused because I was watching many things but felt like I was running on a treadmill; the action was being made but I was not really getting somewhere. it seemed as the story was like pieces of fabric ready to be sewn together in a patchwork quilt, however they never sewn them together; so everything that happened in the episodes were there but weren't really bringing the plot together, moving the story forward, serving as anything for the overall arc. and what was it really, the overall arc? for Gyera, was the revenge that she couldn't fulfill. then the king died and we were left with nothing. the romance between the leads were out of nowhere; one time he was cold to her, the other he opened up a little and the next day she was loving him just from that. couldn't really connect with this love. oh, and how much nicer it was to watch akhui! he was more charismatic than the main personality of sajo hyun and yet was poorly used in the story (not to mention his obsession with Gyera didn't make sense like in the webtoon). another thing I don't understand is why they didn't make Gyera be torn between the two personalities not even once! she just assumed akhui wasn't the real deal and that was that, the end, cut. what a waste! and on that note, I hated when they said, at the end, that akhui's whole being and existence was out of greed! that he was a failure because he was greed incarnate. I found it ridiculous because he was fruit of sajo hyun's trauma, not greed! the way they villainized akhui at the end and he disappeared on that note was quite underwhelming. oh! and can we talk about the whole fashion designer thing that lead nowhere as well?

sajo yoong as the villain was a mess!!!! he started as one character: a guy who was displeased about his father's way of ruling and was willing to bring him down to lead the nation in a nicer path. then, when the king mocked him with the fact that he could do anything to impress the king and wouldn't change a thing because he wasn't even his real son, he changed into a prince that was greedy for the throne just because he wanted to be the crown prince. then by the last third of the story he turned into the Joker and went left and right doing an evil laughter (he was only missing the lightings and thunders behind him to be cartoonish to the full extent). and he even became dumb in the last episode, spilling the beans about how he killed the cruel late king. what was that? ridiculous. he wasn't hateful enough as a villain and his background story didn't even make sense; why would the king take him in as an adoptive son? and why did the villain king turn into someone deserving of pity just for being killed? I mean...

and how about the queen's dad going mad in the last episode for being tortured for like, ten minutes? I was lost for words but laughing at the absurdity. but more absurd than that was the queen. can we talk about how she was nothing but greedy and manipulative (but very bad at it because of how she was written in the show) and to top all of that, she violated the king's guard to get pregnant (it was more than clearly against his will: he denied her request more than once and said he preferred to die than to betray the king and was blacked out drunk when she did the deed with him; he didn't even know how she got there in his room by his side) and the series treated it like it was less than nothing? and to make matters worse her ending was being given the opportunity to run away to live with the guard she commited a heinous crime against and to be a happy family with him????? WHAT. EVEN. WAS. THAT??????? it's so beyond words unacceptable her whole story with him, it's disgusting!! (even worse if you read the webtoon and know that nothing remotely close to something this gross happens between them, and they actually have a cute romance)

well, I can safely say that this was one of, if not the worst written kdrama I have watched. they revealed everything that could've created tension and mistery in the first episode and changed the whole original story, creating this anomaly out of it that lead the story from nowhere to no place whatsoever. but lead me from good expectations to disturbing frustration and disappointment.

Mpk Feb 29 2024 8:38 pm The drama started off promisingly, but it quickly became boring. I was initially intrigued, hoping that the female lead would avenge her father’s death and claim the throne. However, the writer’s decision to portray her as weak and unable to defend herself against the crown princesses, despite being an assassin and realizing her own royal lineage, was disappointing. Additionally, making the male lead’s worst enemy his alter ego was a poor choice. I felt sorry for Akhee, the evil spirit, who disappeared without a trace in the last episode. The ending, where they argued instead of reconciling, was a letdown. Overall, watching this drama was a waste of time and didn’t meet my expectations.

Hong ye ji and Park ji hoon's acting was really impressive. I wish this drama had more ratings. I will recommend this drama to all who like to watch fantasy dramas.

The actors are good but, idk what to say about the story like WTH!! They need to change the tittle to "finding Choong-Ta" a whole episode looking for him. Im already on episode 14 and I still dont know who he is loyal to between Sajo Hyun and Ak-Hee. Is like everybody has abandon and forsaken Sajohyun except Yeon Wol well at least for now' lets see how she feels about the pregnancy.

I'm grateful that Jihoon took this script and met Yeji. they are the perfect couple. It's hard for me to enjoy the chemistry in every drama I watch, but Jihoon and Yeji's chemistry makes me melt. I really like them both, and the storyline of this drama is very good. even 1 hour duration is too fast for me, i want to see more jihoon and yeji moments. I don't care about this rating, this is the drama that will make me fall in love the most in 2024. Somehow I will find a replacement for this drama that can make me move on. I even re-watched past episodes several times. I hope Jihoon and Yeji can play again in another drama in the future

I don't even know if I can stand watching the final 4 episodes. The declining ratings shown on the episode ratings is going down for a reason. I watched because I like Park Ji-hoon, but even he can't save this crappy show.

Don't care if he's unwell, don't care if he's tired. Yeon Wol cares a bit but feel like it just because Ak-Hee shares body with Sajo Hyun. I wish others will start care for Ak-Hee too. Just sad to see it. But glad to see Sajo Hyun start to care a bit about Ak-Hee when he really wants him to disappear before. Hopefully, Ak-Hee won't completely disappear. After all, Ak-Hee is Sajo Hyun. Sajo Hyun is Ak-Hee. Love this drama. Please don't make sad ending, writer nim. Huhu! P/s: Park Ji Hoon is terrific actor. Glad writer, director give him more challenging characters like this. Hope to see him more often with different roles. He sure can act.

I am sorry to say this; But when I see her worried about Sajo Hyun... she doesn't really look like a lover and somehow in this field it seems like her acting is artificial ! :( Is this just my opinion or is it the same for the rest of you?

ciel Feb 07 2024 12:06 am this kdrama is such a well written story, Jihoon did so well potraying 2 different kind of characters. the only lack is female lead aka yeon wol, in MY honest opinion she lacks of expression and can't do sad scenes properly, she definitely need to improve that. but the rest of show's itself is 9 outta 10.

The series flow well from episode to episode and so it’s easy to watch. Period dramas are usually hard to follow but this one grabbed my attention since the first episode

Just like "Kill Me, Heal Me" and "Hyde,Jekyll,Me". They have to say good bye to the other part of them. Ak Hee isn't evil so I can't hate him. They both are so pretty and good actors. Really looking forward to next episodes. P/S: hope the shaman shows up again because he/she is funny.

Calm Oct 23 2023 3:34 am Just finished the webtoon and really anticipating the drama ver. Hope they follow the original storylines. And also hope the drama ver can portray the love of gyera towards hyun before they end the series (since the webtoon didn't actually show enough, only hyun portrayed his love). If possible, why not make it into a 2 season since the webtoon author teased us with the scene of akhee at the end of the story. Would be nice tho hehehehe
