Son Hae-Young (Shin Min-A) is the type of person who doesn't want to lose money under any circumstance. When growing up, she had to share her mother's love with others. She often found her partners in relationships below her break even point. Now, Son Hae-Young faces the possibility of missing out on a job promotion at her workplace. To avoid such a loss, she makes a plan for a fake wedding. She recruits Kim Ji-Wook (Kim Young-Dae) to be her fiance. Kim Ji-Wook works part-time as a cashier at a convenience store. He is the type of person who can't ignore people in need and tries to do the right thing. He is smooth with every customer at the convenience store, except for one person. That person is Son Hae-Young. When she suddenly asks him to become the fake groom at her wedding, he somehow accepts her offer.

Cheryl Apr 13 2026 7:30 am Sometimes I will pick a K drama when I have nothing to watch, based on actors that I like. I am a fan of both Shin Min-A and (a new fan of) Kim Young Dae and so I thought I would give this a try. Going into it with no expectations, I was completely surprised at how much I enjoyed it. I also found the story refreshing and not the same old tropes that are often in many Korean rom-coms. Shin Min A's character is strong but also soft and Kim Young Dae brings an almost childlike innocence to his role. I would also say that the cast brings life and weight to this drama and I found myself not really knowing what was going to happen or what to expect, right up until the end. This drama is one of those examples of the talent of the cast making what could have been an okay story into something much more and I am glad I decided to watch it.

Renwa Feb 09 2026 9:41 pm Just your average k drama, a pleasant enjoyable watch until you factor in Shin Min A, one k drama’s national treasures. Shin Min A is an outstanding actress elevating any work she in…brings the viewer through a swath of emotions. Her work is always fresh and certainly does justice to this drama as she’s paired with Kim Young Dae, also an excellent albeit unique actor. I had finished this drama very late at night, was tired and momentarily forgot the drama I knew this actor from Until it came to me…Yes, the King In Forbidden Marriage, one of my all time favorites. Kim Young Dae had a unique charm like no other, his acting signiture if you will…paired with a strong competent leading lady, he at first appears reserved uncertain restrained emotionally…one wonders Until he develops his character and WA LA…an intense oh so sexy determined male lead emerges…he sure holds his own with these strong fine actresses. I shall track down his other works and enjoy watching his acting journey. Take a look yourself.

Rose Jun 24 2025 11:53 am So glad I'm not the only one glad to see Kim Young Dae and Han Ji Hyun together again! My precious Joo twins, they were genuinely the best part about Penthouse: War in Life. ㅠㅠ A few people said the ending is mid, but with a cast this good I can't resist to watch!

I've recently watched Good Boy so I'm also Very thrilled to see Lee Sang Yi. Great acting and versatility aside, it's been years since I saw an actor that fine.

Ken Robertson Oct 13 2024 8:23 pm I thoroughly enjoyed this outstanding show (No Gain No Love [2024]); so much I’ve already binge watched it again! The multiple story lines were wonderful. I especially enjoyed the extended development of characters and relationships, including the missed opportunities and missteps caused by secrets, uncertainty, and miscommunication. Seeing the characters develop, and having their past histories reveal why they act the way they do was fun to watch. I also enjoyed the humorous moments that contrasted so well with the development of relationships. The actors did a truly awesome job that they should be recognized for. I also really liked the selection of music. For me, these beautiful songs really evoked feelings consistent with the intent of each scene. I also want to recognize the excellent job that the English-language voice actors did – well done! I hope to see more of these characters, and another chapter in this story! Bravo, congrats, and well done! I wish there was an option on Amazon to purchase this so that I could more directly reward this cast and the developers; I'll keep looking for that.

Fan Oct 05 2024 10:37 pm Ok I was so into this that I binged it in 1 day, but….what in the world happened in the last 2 episodes !!!!? They really f***ed up the ending ! In episode 11 and 12 the writing went all over the place and the storyline lost it’s initially track. The other side stories get a better ending but overall nothing is fulled wrapped up and lots of plot holes are left untouched. Very disappointing ! This could have been an iconic Kdrama, but like many other great shows they doomed themselves with the rushed inconclusive ending. Hopefully they will realize this and come out with Season 2 or 2 more episodes.

At the same time, it's better than dragging it on and on and on which a lot of kdrama's suffer from. So I prefer this ending for sure. Still a very very entertaining kdrama. Han Ji-Hyun's cuteness makes my heart melt.

I felt like Hae-Young was almost unlikable towards the end, and that Ji-Wook just accepted all the trouble he went through without a question. Also, there were some plots that I felt were not fully addressed at the end. I loved the drama till I just did not. I reccomend it but I feel like some may feel a bit jipped at how rushed the ending was.

The final episode should focus on how Kim Ji-Uk and Son Hae Young build their careers and lives together, demonstrating to Kkulbee that success is possible without their help. Adding another twist of separation in the last episode is too much. Despite Shin Min-A and Kim Young-Dae's considerable talent, the plot doesn’t support them, unfortunately.

AniMoodz Oct 02 2024 1:13 am So far this is best rom-com that I watched this year. 12 episodes is not enough T^T, I need more backstory of Kim Ji-Uk, our trio friendship about how did 3 of them become bestie, etc. Agree with a comment saying that the second couple get more highlight, I didn't know if they got more screen time but I agree that their storyline is better than the main couple. It's a good thing that they shorten the duration to make the story focus but I think if they add 2 more episodes, the drama can be more complete. 8.5/10

I thought this drama is about Son Hae Young, a career woman who hates losses and never backs down from anything, and her love Kim Ji Uk who's like an angel and calm and always there for her. But what we get is she being demoted untill the end and had to grovel before the very man who unfairly demote her? And we get minimal story about Kim Ji Uk?

And it's infuriating to see the bad people who wins. Ahn Woo Jae, rising in Kkulbee. Bok Gyu, got the girl and happy ending. Bad father, got no punishment whatsoever. This drama always play bad actions as funny and never show some remorse from the bad guys.

Weird to see Bok Gyu portrayed as good while all he did besides loving Ja Yeon is abusing his power over Hae Young, Ji Uk, and Ha Jun. I keep waiting for him to say sorry and put Hae Young back where she rightfully belong but no, never, nada. He doesn't deserve being Ji Uk's hyung. Nor Hae Young's brother in law. And Ja Yeon isn't much better. How come she tolerates the very person who treated her sister like that? Maybe she's also dumb seeing her saying it's Ji Uk's fault Hae Young being demoted.

This drama is nice at first but towards the end fell worse and worse. We got fewer screentime for main leads while 2nd leads got more. Sometimes I wonder if it's not Lee Sang Yi who plays Bok Gyu will people still cheer for him.

I'll remember not to watch any dramas from this writer in the future

Denna Sep 29 2024 3:13 pm Great drama - loved the story, characters and comedy. It was all great until the show tried to make the idea of polyamorous relationships acceptable in society. Every person I’ve known to have an “open” relationship ends up regretting it in the end. Imagine being in love with multiple people who also love being with multiple people, and one of them contracts an STI without knowing and spreads it to you. This is the sh*tty reality I witnessed with two of my good friends. My other friend had kids and both her and her husband were in an open relationship - after 8 years of that nonesense, they divorced. The sad part is, the kids moved away from them when they finished university and hardly call or visit. You can’t help but wonder if they were left feeling confused about what love and being a family actually meant. Society has norms for a reason - it’s to prevent the collapse of a society for shitty reasons like this. Sorry for the rant…. That scene not only reminded me of the emotional damage my friends went through, but mine as well. Korea really needs to stop trying to be like Canada, US, and Europe. Do you guys not see how messed up we are?

Rae Sep 28 2024 9:07 pm I’m on episode 6 and I have to call it a night - my stomach hurts too much from laughing. This drama has been great since the beginning. The characters, story, and comedy is the perfect cocktail I needed. I haven’t laughed that hard in a while (and that’s purely due to the fact that I’ve been watching mainly murder-mysteries and other deep/heavy dramas) so this was such a nice fresh of air. Sure it’s not perfect, but I love the chemistry between the leads and second lead characters and just the overall flow of the drama. I haven’t felt bored once, which is rare, and so I’m excited to resume watching the next episodes tomorrow. This is definitely a must watch!

Chelsea Sep 24 2024 6:15 am I am not sure why ratings are so low and comments to be negative. This drama is wonderful. The comedy aspect of it makes it even better. Shin Min-A is doing great especially with the age gap. Moreover, Kim Young dae is great. I’ve seen people say that he’s stiff but I think it adds to the character’s personality bc at times his personality changes. Spoiler: One part that I loved was when he was he helping Shin Min-A remove her hair pins and she screamed you can tell that his jump reaction was genuine. She really scared him. I also love that the show addresses untypical kdrama themes, like the “all around the world/board game box”. There’s a slow but perfect burn between the leads. There’s also a slight sexual tension that makes it even better. The other cast is great too. I am just not fond of the ex boyfriend, hes annoying. If you want to laugh and watch a lighthearted romance this is the show!!

Never watched Kim Young Dae in anything, but he match really well with the RomCom queen Shin Min Ah!!! I'm having so much fun, and I ship their characters so much. Butterflies in my stomach and big laughs in every episode!! The second leads and the supporting casts all work really well too!! I wish there are more episodes and to have more people watching this!!! The best drama, the most joyful one this year!! Looking forward to the spinoff!

Kdrama Sep 19 2024 11:30 pm as someone who rant about kim youngdae's casting with shin mina, I found him pretty good, still there are a lot of younger actors who act better than him (except idols or guys like song kang) but I'm quite satisfied with his acting this time. honestly I'm glad lee jongwon (original ML of this drama) rejected this because LJW's acting is still green, I've been watched him in knight flower and his shortcoming is so obvious.

They both can get away with it. Just that some audience are sensitive about young and matured being in a love storyline. This is the 21st century, wake up. whether it's Shin Min-A and Young Dae, or between Sang Yi and Ji Hyun. when I watched I always thought they were just friends or even siblings, not a couple or like each other.

It's hard to explain, I just felt flat when I watched it. It's like they got lost in this drama. here the only suitable couple is Go Wook and Hye Won. for the story, it's 50:50.

They fall in love but people find out it is a sham marriage. They divorice. They find out about the guy's real backgroud and the company has problems. Eventually they get back together and marry and love and blah blah. Maybe there will be a truck involved. Spice it up. I stopped watching that mafia food company drama because it got boring.

Her mum has dementia and the wedding also signifies the first funeral for her mum so that her mum and the foster kids she took care of as well as those who her mum has helped can meet her before her health gets worse

Also, if we're talking about her company, I think she wouldn't have told them she got divorced until she achieves what she wants. In the meantime, she can pretend that she still has a husband

I'm surprised you said you feel embarrassed because I usually don't like cliche but I find this drama quite good especially the script. There are a lot of play in words that I find quite impressive and I think the plot is still building. Judging by the preview, it seems like episode 4 will be a good one

Jjoo Sep 03 2024 5:06 am I'm halfway through episode 3 and there's one idea that keeps haunting me about this drama, which is that the cast must have been blackmailed to accept it lol. I feel super embarrassed watching this drama, even though I like the cliche cheap dramas. I can't put my finger on what's exactly the off putting thing this drama. The FL seems a very stingy person who no one would like being around and her logic behind the marriage seems very off. Wedding cost is so high, yet she's willing to pay all that just to get the congratulatory money and the potential benefits in her company and then divorce? Isn't she aware that divorced women don't quite have an easy life and always the center of the gossip? Just seems counter-intuitive for me. P.S: Nothing more annoying that the aegyo of Han Ji Hyun. Aegyo doesn't suit her at all.

Sus Sep 01 2024 9:04 am I can’t see this as I only have Netflix & Amazon prime. I loved Shin Min-a in Hometown Cha Cha Cha & Our Blues. I also find her voice comforting. I also love that she stayed with her boyfriend throughout his health battle. A large age gap, in reality, can be a problem at some point, but not necessarily. It really depends on the character of both parties & the reason they fell in love in the first place. However, this is a drama, it’s fiction & they’re actors. Princess is correct, barely anyone bats an eye when the male is older, in dramas or real life. If rain & others have a problem with this age gap, they’d probably hate Witch’s Love! I loved that steamy scene between the couple with a 14 year age gap (in the drama), but a 19 year age gap in real life! Good for Park Seojun for delivering such a great performance with Uhm Jung-Hwa. She was fantastic, such an entertaining actress. She was also really good in Doctor Cha, in which another young doctor was very attracted to her. That was a 14 year gap! She was also enjoyable in Our Blues. I wonder if rain, Mimi & others were so turned off by the age gap in My Mister that they were unable to enjoy that superb drama. Lee Sun-kyun & IU had an 18 yr age gap. I hope this drama eventually gets distributed to a network I have access to.

Also love the Penthouse reunion! And Kim youngdae's acting has improved so much, I think he chose this role well since it suits him much better as compared to his previous roles

No need to mention Shin Min-a's acting since she's indeed a veteran. I had to look up the director and writer and voila, no wonder. The same director who works on Work Later Drink Now, legendary hilarious series. The first two episodes are so good even if the later episodes drops in quality it won't bring the score down too much. It's been a while since I find a 10/10 rom-com like this.

Heather Aug 27 2024 8:35 pm Saw many TikTok complaining about their age gap even before the drama airs. They're actors and so far with the 2 episodes, I like their chemistry. Maybe I'm biased because I like Shin MinA, but I also just can't fathom why are people affected by the age gap of the actors, when it doesn't really affect much the characters their playing? I mean it's weird if one is underage, and it includes intimate or kissing scenes. I feel like it also has something to do with shipping culture, coz why be affected of the actors' ages. That's why I like Shin MinA, she have chemistry w/ actors she's partnered with and she's dating, I hope other actors could do the same.

Also, I was watching this other drama where there are sisters, and people are complaining again, about the age coz the younger sister looks older according to the complaints but I'm not convinced, so out of curiosity I check their age, and the younger sister is really younger (the actor real age). So it's kinda funny about all this age thing.

Anyways, I'm glad I like the drama so far. Sometimes I get affected by the bad press/comments that I can't start watching (even if I like the actors), so I'm glad I gave it a go.

They're the opposite of what they don't like, he doesn't like pretty & smoker, I assume she doesn't like someone as kind & accommodating as her mom (a lot of foster kids), I mean he's like her mom, too kind & can't stop helping others. The side/other stories/characters are interesting too.

We don't yet know the ages of the characters; the age gap may be less. However, even if it's not, again, the actors are not their characters. Also, pointing out that he was 8 when she was 20 is ridiculous. They are both adults and their characters are adults. Just because you saw him play a high school student in Penthouse doesn't mean he is actually a teenager; he was 24.

K-drama lovers will suspend disbelief when 30 year olds play high school students but when there is an age gap suddenly they can't look past how young and how old the actors are.

Also, maybe the age difference is a factor in the plot. Maybe one reason her character chooses his is that she thinks someone at that point in their life (younger, more carefree, and no thoughts of settling down unlike a man her age) wouldn't fall for her and cause romantic complications and be able to keep it strictly business.

Even if it is real, who we are to judge?pls don’t spread the hatred before even the drama begins. I like the cast, more than that I liked the plot.
