In the rural village of Geumje in 1992, four women begin door-to-door sales of adult products. They have different reasons for getting involved in the business venture. They gain financial independence and develop friendships, through their work.

Han Jeong-Suk (Kim So-Yeon) is a housewife. She was once the 1st runner-up in a local beauty contest and she married the man who was her first love. Her life is modest and ordinary, but she suffers from financial difficulties. She is unable to afford a new bag for her only son and she worries about making her monthly rent. This provides a wake up call for her. She soon jumps into door-to-door sales of imported adult products. She discovers that she has a talent for marketing and sales.

Oh Geum-Hui (Kim Sung-Ryoung) grew up in a wealthy family and graduated from a prestigious women’s university. She got married through an arranged marriage made by her family. She moved to Geumje, which is her husband's hometown. Here, she lives a boring life. To help Han Jeong-Suk, who once worked as her housekeeper, she begins to work door-to-door sales of imported adult products. This leads her to have an unexpected self-reflection.

Seo Young-Bok (Kim Sun-Young) is a mother of 4 children. Her relationship with her husband is great and they look like a happy family, but her family suffers from poverty. The six family members sleep together in a single room. In order to provide a separate room for her 4 children, Seo Young-Bok begins to work door-to-door sales of imported adult products.

Lee Ju-Ri (Lee Se-Hee) is a single mother, who raises her son alone. She also runs a beauty parlor. She begins to do door-to-door sales of imported adult products, believing it would be a fun thing to do in her boring life. She grows as a person through her work and lifts the spirits of the other 3 women when they encounter frustrating situations.

Meanwhile, Kim Do-Hyeon (Yeon Woo-Jin) is a police officer, who grew up in a wealthy family in South Korea and gradated from an Ivy League school in the United States. After he returned to South Korea, he began to work as a police officer and was quickly promoted at the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul. He then moved to Geumje and began to work at the Geumje Police Station. He doesn't seem to have a connection with the area, but he has a secret.

Leonah Jan 18 2025 7:29 am Truly enjoyed this drama excellent acting from all the actors. Well except for the FL..maybe its just me but her portrayal of a 'demure married woman' is somehow not convincing enough.

Loved all the couples except for ML and FL i find myself skip some of their scenes lol.

Special mention...the part where ML was hugging with his bio mom. Omg his cry was so heartbreaking i cried along too sobs! Yes i agree with some that the ending was pretty rushed. And the timeline...how come it jumped to 4 years when the ML specifically mentioned he will be away for 2 years??

I’m really into the slice-of-life K-drama type (like Prison Playbook, Live, etc) the story is light but deeply moving the viewer to cry and also funny sometimes !! I Love All Of Their Character, The Plot, Their Bond1 Especially the nostalgic 1992’s retro vibes—AAAA so good! it’s giving Life on Mars K-drama set

when I found out my fave actor (Yeon Woo Jin—ever since 2014) was in it, I immediately wanted to watch + I’ve loved Kim Seo Yeon ever since My Prosecutor Princess in 2010 (though I really hated her character in Penthouse and didn’t finish the drama lol). I also recognized so many familiar faces in the Cast but I hesitated to watch because the poster only feature the 4 female characters so I assume they all settle with their family (child and husband) and I thought it would be boring. I also thought Yeon Woo Jin would be just a filler character but LUCKILY THEY MADE A LOVE LINE between my two fave cast members ! because from the beginning Jeong Suk (Kim Seo Yeon) ex-husband already gave off weird vibes, so this pairing makes me beyond happy

but even if there hadn’t a love line involving Yeon Woo Jin and Kim Seo Yeon, I knew I would’ve give some try to watch the drama because of the familiar cast (so many veteran actors and actresses!!!) and here for the comedy also. never knew they would create such a good bond between all of the character (every cast is important and have their own story). but I can’t deny I would disappointed a bit if they didn’t pair Kim Seo Yeon and Yeon Woo Jin in here because I know their character is perfect for each other and they also have a Good Chemistry they’re both awkward, quiet, serious, but occasionally funny—it’s just too cute

and ofcc!! another fave character of mine is Oh Geum Heui!!! I kept watching the drama because of her too. I don’t know how to explain it—she really gives off the vibes of elegant classy lady but is also so kind and humble, not to mention there’s a twist in her character she is not the usual type of “rich ma’am” but she loves challenging herself (even socialize with her ex-house maid, re: Jeong Suk) I felt like she felt lonely in her big house and doing her everyday routine and I’m happy she found her “fun” in the group

not to forget that I also love Seo Yeong Book and Lee Ju Ri character, the one who always make me cry with their life story, the other one always make me laugh because of her child and loving her bright nonchalant character!!

I can’t believe this is the end and I really hate the feeling of saying goodbye to the fun but thanks to PD-nim, Writer-nim, and all the staff I can enjoy a drama where every role is important and thanks for showing the tenacity to never give up even if you’re struggling at the moment, I would give the rate 11/10!!

this drama saved me from K-drama slump (alongside with Tale of The Lady Ok—which is also really good but a bit on the serious side) so if you’re more into a fun light but meaningful drama—like me, I guess A Virtuous Business is for you!!!

But ? this drama is drama, drama with friendship and love.. but loved every minute, no skipping annoying parts, no skipping episodes. Watch and you will feel exactly what they are going through. My heart hurts so much for everyone in this drama, everyone has their own story. Must watch. ✨?

VPR Nov 20 2024 6:34 am The four older couple actors were brilliant. Their stories made me cry so many times. Lee Se-Hee was the best but had too little screentime and watching Kim Jung-Jin play two very different characters in two dramas at the same tim had my jaw drop. The main FL and ML were boring in comparison but I like dhow ML looked like someone real, dark and normal. Thats been missing of late. The child actors were scenestealers. On the one hand I liked how boring they made the adult products because it makes it seem normal and much easier to accept even by my mom than if they try forcing a one-sided modernity and "western liberty" style globalization narrative.On the other hand they could have been doing business for ordinary underwear and there would be no difference. They avoided connecting with their business too much halfway through.

One of the best dramas of this year in my eyes. It was so wholesome and heartwarming. The friendship the ladies built was for sure the main focus for me and while the last episode feels kind of rushed,I think its best to end it at 12 ep instead of dragging it on.

Intae overheared Jongsuk and Seongsoo arguing and learned the baby was not his. He had been letting Seongsoo live with them for months and he loses it and beats Seongsoo up. He lost his wife, child and two childhood best friends in one go. Not only did this good man not get justice this time, even Seongsoo disappeared from his sons life post divorce. I'll make up my own headcanon that Intae walked in on them cheating and threw them out and they left town and are living miserably.

So far I enjoy the story about these beautiful women's friendship, their bold venture into the erotic business and the mystery surrounded the missing babies and children. I hope tonight the detective will be reunited with his biological parents or if not, at least a satisfying ending for anyone. However I'm not particularly enjoy the love story between the detective and Jeong suk; well I don't mind at all a relationship between a single and a divorcee, there is no sin about it. Just knowing that Kim So-Yeon is married to one of the handsomest actors in South Korea so I just can't whenever the detective keeps stealing longing glance at her, "I know she's pretty but you're looking at someone else's wife, man!" LOL

He's not one of the victim of kidnapping but victim of fire in that hospital and his parents believed he died at the hospital so they are not looking for him. Someone save him in that fire, when do hyeon dream of the fire a woman came and save a baby so it could be him that baby. But a big question who save that baby.

At first, I thought it might be too slow or that the topic was not interesting, but I decided to try anyway. I'm so happy I did. There were times that I laughed, times that I cried, and times that I was mad. I'm going to miss them when the drama is finished.

You will fall in love with The Ladies and ML as well as the entire cast as the casting is superb! I love to laugh and sure did watching this drama as The Ladies navigate this new or perhaps old world of adult sex toys and risqué nighties. Just a very solid well done drama in the hands of pros who know what they’re doing. Very enjoyable viewing. Don’t miss it!

I love how kdramas/ k comedies are delving into way more interesting plots now and I love dramas with a female focus. I have really high hopes for this drama, the recent collection of kdrama rom coms have been so disappointing so this is really nice and refreshing to watch.

She had believed she should be a modest wife and mother but as she is lured by the steady pay for being a Bangpan saleswoman she struggles between chagrin and the despearation to buy her son a new bag and pay the landlord on time. Kang Ae Shim is cast as Jung Sook's mother and Choi Ja Woon as her son. - Geum Hee had an arranged marraige with Choi Won Bong(Kim Won Hae) through a matchmaker. She leads a lonely humdrum life due to her blunt husband’s old-fashioned views who tells her to take up noble hobbies like flower arranging which bore her. Her english degree comes in handy with reading the manual for the imported adult goods and brings excitement to her life. - Young Bok is the most passoniate one married to the lovey-dovey good-for-nothing Park Jong Seon(Lim Chul Soo) who still calls her sexier than Madonna but they live in poverty with their four children in a one-room apartment. While people are envious of her marital relation, it feels like a divine punishment to Young Bok. She fears going on having kids its inevitable to end up beggars is true and they can't even afford to buy a desk for her eldest daughter who should be studying well. She starts even looking up specialized words from a dictionary to better make money and get a second room for her kids. - Joo Ri is the youngest and single mom to her son(Jung Min Joon) who runs a hair salon. She is the it girl of the town who constantly faces judgement for her fashionable outfit but holds her own. Kim Jung Jin plays Uhm Dae Geun who is the son of a wealthy who the townspeople can’t stand, and is a reckless man who works part-time at the town pharmacy. He is interested in Joo Ri.

Do Hyun's fellow officers at Geumje Police Station are played by actors Seo Hyun Chul and Jung Soon Won.
