Jooshin High School is the most prestigious school in South Korea. The school was established by the conglomerate Jooshin Group. Normally, only students that are chosen at birth to attend Jooshin High School are allowed. Those students include Jung Jae-I (Roh Jeong-Eui), who is is the first daughter of the family that runs Jaeyool Group, Kim Ri-An (Kim Jae-Won) who is the successor of the Jooshin Group, Yoon He-Ra (Ji Hye-Won) who is the youngest daughter of trading company International Yoon, and Lee Woo-Jin (Lee Won-Jung) who is second son of a powerful politician family.

Meanwhile, Kang Ha (Lee Chae-Min) is transferred to Jooshin High School. He possesses a pure and innocent smile, but he holds a secret. Due to him, the concrete world of Jooshin High School begins to crack.

kaito Oct 29 2024 2:23 pm I hate relationships where couples dont communicate. 1st episode, chaebol girl ghosts then breaks up with chaebol bf and when asked why, she just said "you dont need a reason to like or dislike someone"—while that could be true in some cases (i found some people in my life just naturally offputting and i cant figure out why they make me feel that way), she's clearly angry at him so it's not for no reason; just communicate! so there's closure and you can both move on.

Also, I hate the cliché of men being so submissive to the women they like in these kdramas. i know it must be a fantasy for some to have beautiful slaves who are so infatuated, they will do absolutely anything for you, but oftentimes such characters just seem stupid, weak-minded, and instead of looking like strong protectors of the weak, they just look more like a collared guard dog of one b*tch.

Most of these "hero" type male characters are often portrayed as nice but they're only nice to their love interest because irl a lot of women are overly jealous and these shallow women dont want a genuinely good person who's good to everyone, they want an asshole who's only nice to them. Like, there are shallow women who would fight their partner for holding the door for others. So the fake nice or nice-only-to-their-target male characters are so prolific in inferior kdramas because they're the fantasy of shallow women.

Also, why did the writers make Ms. Han, the teacher that was having an affair with a minor so damn stupid? And by that I don't mean that technically she is raping a minor, as "Lee Won Joo" is still a kid. No, I meant when she found the hidden pen camera and discovered there is evidence that she caused the accident - why the hell did she keep it?? I mean, if I found incriminating evidence of a crime I committed, the first thing I would do is destroy it. Furthermore, despite the fact that she was having an affair with a chaeboi kid, deep down she knew their relationship wouldn't go anywhere, so why the hell did you trust Lee Won Ju??? Dumb writing, that's why! I agree with a few of the comments posted here, it was a waste of time!

The FL had the same expression throughout the 7 episodes, and the attempt at acting heartbroken by the ML was laughable. The revenge was halfhearted after he fell for a girl and instead switched to protecting her? Seriously?

1. the so-called ,,revenge" kang ha wanted to get (chanmi wannabe?) kang ha's formula of getting revenge is upside down, i think. how can you forget what your brother, Twin brother, had to experience in Jooshin, and then let him down and go after a girl who someone else is in love with? the love triangle was literally SO unnecessary and they could've sticked with ri-an + jae-i. the way he was so dumb even ju-won had to remind him what his goal was at Jooshin, and that Someone Else had to do it for him. you should expose the killer, not him-- idk what the writers were thinking when they thought of this??

2. bad acting i tried to inhale my laugh as ri-an comforted jae-i when talking about her pregnancy. i did not shed a tear at all. and that's what people do when they see good acting. it felt like they were forced to stand there and had the same expression 24/7 throughout the show, it was annoying to look at. hera and woojin carried the acting on their backs, and these actors should get some lessons asap

3. extra points for eunbin and hera as she is my CLC bias. 3/10. wasted actors

Jenny Jun 25 2024 2:01 am Unlike “Black dog” and “Melancholia” which provided a believable and informative picture of the school system in South Korea, “Hierarchy” is a fanciful depiction of a fictional school in which entitled teenagers exhibit sociopathic behavior towards less fortunate students while pretending to be adults. I wonder what the screenwriter was thinking when he put pen to paper. Thankfully, there are only 7 episodes.

Unnecessary Love triangle 3. the biggest letdown is Acting (Lee Chae-Min can't act for sure, Roh Jeong-Eui is good actress but her acting is also very flat & dull in this drama, some of them did very overacting & few of them were doing good like Choi Won-Young & Yoon Se-Ah but they have been given very little screen space) 4. It's a revenge drama so story should have been intense focusing on revenge but it lost track & Ending is not satisfactory at all.

First of all, Kang Ha is confusing about his intent being at that school. For revenge? He doesn’t show the grief I was expecting and he kinda played with a savior complex personality, but for what? BFR

He does stay as he said to become the first scholar student to graduate at that school, but it was really clear from EP1 that he only wants to know who killed his brother. And after all of that he just stays on that school? ?

A lot of questionable scenes to be honest that I can’t explain further.

Besides the revenge part, I think this series also highlights social class problems and inequalities. (I mean it’s stated on the title tho but I think no one in the comments mentioned about this)

I felt like it was too rushed and something was lacking a bit and i’m not talking about the acting. It was as if the writers and producers just decided to drop things like around episode 3? And was just trying to scramble a bit to see how to tie everything together since they made the show only 7eps. It felt like they tried to squeeze like a 12-14ep show into 7eps. It would’ve been nice to get more background on everyone, including the parents and siblings of the main characters. This felt more like a web drama versus an actual drama. Opinion on the cast & their performances: I will say that based on these comments, it seems as though everyone is jumping on the bandwagon of bashing and just being hateful. Like i don’t think those who are bashing the actors and actresses acting skills are not taking into consideration that all but one of the main cast (that are young faces) are just starting out in their careers. And if they looked at their filmography credits, it shows they are still at the beginning of their careers. So it may take time for them to improve. So for them being new and fresh, i’d say they did a pretty great job with the little experience they have compared to those who have been in the field for a while. And for the one actress who played jae-i who actually has a long list of credits, i think yes, her performance could’ve been better. But i’ve seen her in other projects and she does pretty well. Now i think the performances of the actors and actresses shouldn’t be solely judged based on the actors or actresses themselves. People need to start taking into account that maybe it could’ve been the director, producers and writers that also played a role in the performances as well as they are the ones who have the vision and direction in mind of what they are trying to convey. I just say all this because y’all are having way too high of expectations for the actors and actresses when a majority of them are still fresh and new to the industry. So some may not be season and phenomenal right out the gate as they also need to gain more experience to fine tune their skills. Not everyone is perfect or phenomenal right when they start out on anything, even the most talented people. So give the actors and actresses a break. We should be encouraging them to try to improve on their skills. Not insult them and make them feel like they shouldn’t do what i’m sure they wanted to do, finally get to do and enjoy. I say good luck, best of wishes to the cast in their next projects and hope for their success in their careers as actors and actresses. Because acting is not easy.

The supposedly plot was squeezed into 1 episode. Jae-I would have been good if only she didn't stuck herself into an obvious red flag guy. Well, out of all them, Kang Ha is the only one with the best role here and had the best acting.

The ending was just unnecessary in my opinion. They could have ended it at a „wholesome“ point, with them showing the consequences or like 5 years later and that. Shorten the season but teasing for a second doesn’t even make sense. It should have ended there, cause what do you even fighting for now, after exposing everything? He found the murderer and still wants his revenge after that … like why forcing another scenario at the end?

Over all without the irritating ending, I sonst find the acting that bad as well as the drama, it was okay.

Kedibone Jun 15 2024 4:50 pm This forms part of my top 5 Korean dramas like??I loved the entire series,the music drove crazy ,the characters were also on point.I adored how close Ri-an ,Jae-I ,He-ra and the other guy were and how the story line exposed how bullying and being rich can lead to such events.I kept on screaming whenever Ri-an got possessive ,that drove me crazy as well,im a hopeless romantic.Man this was nice ,only if it wasn't limited.

Oh dear..... Jun 15 2024 2:10 pm Usually, I'm not too fussy about the weirdness of kdramas I watch. proven from it takes me 6 episodes to finally go here and check the comments section. I am sharing some of thoughts here:

1. Weird storyline. At first, i thought "ah.. this seems interesting". But then as i keep on watching, i can't help but feel especially irritated to kang ha and jae i. Like, what the frick bro?? You came there to avenge your dead twin brother, but the heck you fell in love (and trying everything to protect) with jae i instead?? Bro? You literally only met her several times. Tf bro gets blinded by love so easily and forgot about his real motive. Bro is playing hero just get "I will listen to you and protect what i love" and "If rian got destroyed, i am too. I will shield him" sheet. Bro. Wtf. I wanted to slap him so bad.

2. Bad acting and my review on the characters. As i said before, i don't really fuss about korean dramas I watch and so i don't really pay much attention to the acting, even if others says "xx acting is really bad", sometimes i don't feel it. BUT. Even I, being like that, have felt that the acting in this drama is really bad. I just frowned during the supposed to be heartwarming scene when rian confronted jae I about her pregnancy. I just frowned when they cried and rian apologized. He sounds like he's just reading script and not really "saying" it. When i watch dramas, i cry easily when the characters cry too.

For Jae I, i don't know if it's her acting or just the blandness of her character, she's really annoying lol. I watched her in our beloved summer and 18 again, she's not that bad actually. It's just her character deserved to get a smack in the face along with kang ha too. Rian is just a sad boy hopeless romantic that tries so hard to be the "school bigass bully" but fails miserably. He didn't deserve a smack but just to let go from the role, and find other suitable role.

No comment on Woo Jin's character as he's too passive.

I personally think Hera is the best character in this drama. She's the only one with emotion, functioning logic, and while she's the "bad guy", she still has her conscience (she got mad at jae I's brother instead of supporting him, and then felt bad for Jae i). Her attitude towards jae I is also understandable, as jae I is cold and stiff like a rock to her, her bestfriend!! Even kang ha knows more about jae i, compared to hera, her childhood bestfriend. SMH.

I am on the end of episode 6.. I don't feel like wanting to continue watching but i only have 1 episode left till the end.... reading others' review doesn't help too.. I don't have much hope left for this drama..

If this show have been for about 16ep with more expansive storyline based on revenge etc., it would be great I guess. It took them 6 epispdes to get to the actual "revenge" and it was such an anticlimactic ending. The characters were pretty bland tbh and everything was rushed by episode 7. The "plot twist" signaled a second season but I'm not sure if I'm really looking forward to it as much. 6/10

Bee Jun 12 2024 1:59 am I was skeptical about this drama when i saw the trailer on Netflix because of the way it looked so American, and because i dsliked Mask Girl from Netflix but i decided to give it a try. I'll give it an 8/10 because i basically binged the show, i liked the fact that I saw fresh faces and they delivered their roles especially He-Ra and Ri-An, they delivered as well eery other person, Ki-Young ate as well. I was not satisfied with the revenge but i was so surprised at the twist of who the killer really was in the end.

I was hoping the ML would maintain his cause because 'if you stare into the abyss, it stares right back at you'. Glad he got justice but it was not as brutal as I had expected.

I look forward to seeing more of Ri-An, He-Ra and Kang Ha in more dramas.

How she break up with her ex, go to a new one who weirdly but obviously had feelings for her and then leave him for the ex After making everything public. It seemed like she didn’t know what to choose and I couldn’t stand it. I was rooting for her and kang ha to get together cause that would be epic but nope, she went back to her ex just to leave him in the end. She was so confusing. And then her little brother, what was his purpose?? If he wanted to blackmail her he could’ve easily published it himself to get money and pribalem solved. He sent that around and got mad when other ppl would turn on him or wouldn’t do his dirty work. Let’s not forget about jaei’s little friend hera. I loved her acting and character and I can understand why she didn’t want to let go of her friend but even then, why would you go through all that trouble and let things get so bad and only go back to being friends Afterit’s decided she’s gonna leave. And then the teacher? What was her purpose?? Why would she fall in love with a student. As the teacher you would think she had the upper hand but actually falling in love with ur student and loosing ur mind over him is wild. I was actually hoping that hers and him would have that typical love triangle. Where the lead actor likes the main actor but the main actor doesn’t . I felt bad for her trying to get someone she couldn’t but let’s be realistic here, liking someone since you were six and it being years after is so odd in a sense ????. And how did rian’s mother get the video and send it to him?? Like I Dont get that. And then everything is so confusing and misleading and not in the good way. I finished this within a day but with multiple stops and interventions. I understand things don’t have to be clear when working on a script but this was far too complicated to even understand it made me frustrated to say the least. Nothing makes sense and I won’t lie when I say they’ve aced the whole “not like other kdramas” thing but overall the confusion doesn’t make it enjoyable. And I forgot to mention but kang in Han?? What was his purpose.. like it started off so good, So good then ended really weirdly. + the whole “revenge” he joined cause he was curious on who would’ve killed his brother right? Then why did he go through such lengths to do so.. then him not thinking things clearly made things even worse how u wanna protect the little girl you like but already gathered up a gang?? The ending I don’t get either. A random student was killed and it was blamed on rían? Are we gonna get different seasons on them taking down each one? That would be really interesting but if that’s the case they shouldn’t make it so far apart.

Her smile wasn’t genuine and overall I just couldn’t get into it. The male lead was cute but I just didn’t get how he was so in love with someone he kissed once. Strange show. They could have left this one on the bottom shelf. Sorry Netflix…not a winner for me.

zuzu Jun 10 2024 2:38 pm I’ll be honest, it was not a good show however I think people are wrong in saying that nothing changed towards the end because the actual killer did get arrested and the principal who condoned the bullying was fired and the main bully somehow showed remorse¿ but the problem was the execution of this show. The writing just seemed lazy and I couldn’t feel Kang ha’s dying urge for his revenge like the show and the acting just felt quite empty and I’m sure a lot of you agree as well. This would have been a decent show if it was more revenge focused than westernised visuals and romance.

Just watched it for the sake of watching it. Aesthetics and production of the show was good but the acting was cringey and the story was lame.

Actors were good looking thou. I watched 18 again prior to this and I didn’t even had a clue the female lead was the same actress, i am shook!

Maybe as the setting for a drama with some real plot lines, but not as the main story. There's no creativity, no character development, no heartwarming back stories here. Besides Jeong-Eui looking absolutely gorgeous, there's not a lot of reason to watch.

dee Jun 09 2024 12:40 am Well, I wouldn't say the acting was bad (except for rian, sorry). But the writing was indeed a nightmare. It started good, like the suspense of eps 1 and 2 ending honestly made me watch it further. After that, I couldn't say much about it. Maybe I expect too much cause it reminds me of Elite, especially with Kang Ha and Jae-i went "keeping the other person in check and fall in love in the process" thing, which is very Carla and Samuel.

And yet, it's more like teenagers with much baggage and accidentally has their hands on a murder as side dish. That "Hierarchy" is none.

First off the acting was like C tier it was soo basic and had no depth even in emotional scenes and don't even get me started on jeon ji-a she was so selfish to even ask kang ha to protect ri-an, second of all, why was the show centered around revenge when he barely actually got revenge?? kang ha's character honestly wasn't the right type for a revenge drama, he ended up falling head over heels for someone who didn't mind seeing his brother getting bullied? like the drama had a confusing yet somehow boring and anti-climatic storyline. honestly i don't even understand what the directors were trying to make?? especially when the budget was so high? the cast, settings and special effects were all top tier, but it was sad to see it all go to waste.

The plot is just characters talking, talking, and just talking, they are all saying that they will do this and that but they don't do anything. Kang Ha came to revenge his brother but instead he fell so easily for Jae-i for no particular reason and wanted to protect her not knowing anything about her. I don't see Ri-an's role as anything other than just a sick romantic for Jae-i, everything he does in the drama is just for her or because of her. Don't even get me started about Woo-jin and that teacher's disgusting relatshionship. Even when Kang Ha found out his brother's true killer he did nothing to her and just let the police take care of her. I was expecting much much more from him knowing what they did to his brother but instead he just talked about justice. What would he do if Jae-i didn't give him the camera pen she got from Woo-jin?

Rian has no aura of arrogant chaebol while Kangha is giving the arrogant vibes more than Rian lol. Not to mention all the female casts including JaeI look so stiff like a stick. The emotion just not giving. It's not the plot or storyline could make the whole drama better lol

The first three episodes met my expectations, but after that it went off a cliff and clearly focused too much on the romance; I was definitely expecting more, especially for a seven-episode drama.

The budget, the aesthetics, the production, sets and props ate down but the plot was so much predictable.

It was a new level of the deepest pits low OK maybe I’m being a little extra, but it wasn’t amazing as a trailer showed but now that we’ll be at the trailer after watching this drama. It was nothing special. I just hyped it up because I thought it would be a bit like elite. it’s a bit similar at certain aspects, but it’s not gonna meet the same standards. Of course I wished I saw more of Hera and Woojin, I wanted to see their connection grow!! I mean woojin had more of a liking to her, but I was wanting to see her start to grow a liking to him, but that’s not what we got. whatever it’s a solid 5/10.

This drama had potential but the writing and acting just didn’t do anything. There was no revenge at all because the bullies didn’t get any sort of punishment and went back to live their normal lives so what was the point of Kang Ha going to the school in the first place? Jung Jae-I‘s acting was Horrible. She looked so sad and frail the whole time and had no chemistry with the male lead. I was very excited for this but the show let me down.

But I still enjoyed watching it....I liked character's like Kang-Ha and Hera, their actor played them very well

Also, the transition of scenes were not smooth. The choice of songs especially.

It’s so sad. I was really looking forward to it.
