Ryohei Arisu (Kento Yamazaki) is an unemployed young man, whose life has not been very happy. One day, a mysterious light appears and, afterwards. everybody disappears except for Ryohei Arisu and his two friends. Tokyo is completely empty. Ryohei Arisu and his two friends are forced to take part in a survival game with their lives at stake. There, Ryohei Arisu meets Yuzuha Usagi (Tao Tsuchiya).

Ridi Mar 20 2026 9:25 pm with all due respect, and i respect the heck out of this series, and yes S3 also had insane visuals. But this entire season was absolutely unnecessary.

It had such an awesome ending after S2 to give a flavor to the known story, and on S3 they just ruined the whole experience of it imo. weird writing too

gin2 Jan 26 2022 9:25 am Out of Japanese action live adaption only Alice in Borderland and Rurouni kenshin are casted very well and the movies are really good in which these 2 are recognized in other countries, the rest of adaptation is too cringe and very low quality. TCan't wait for 2nd season!

My reason for watching it now is that I recently heard, second-hand (now third-hand as reported here), that it would be one of the two Japanese entries in some Korean TV competition for best series. One would think that this should be some assurance of quality. It turns out to be a heartless, mindless, senseless entertainment of cheap thrills, well represented by the party-goers at Seaside Paradise when death is at the gate, or inside the door, and by their "ruler," played by Nobuaki Kaneko, who is always so very self-conscious in his every gesture and spoken word that he tends to overact. The narration tries to sound deep about life and death and other related issues and, as a result, somewhat comical and pretentious. Frankly, I don't care for the story or, heaven-forbid, a second season. Resources could be much better and more profitably used to produce something else.

riki Sep 26 2021 5:10 am the only thing i watched at first was the trailer and knew nothing about the plot nor genre so watched it randomly when i remembered it exists and regret nothing, it was beyond good. Considering how cringe i usually find manga adaptations as live actions, this one was nowhere near cringe. The actors here did excellent performance and I'm still shook at how they made it believable that they really were shooting in an actual city but in reality it wasn't. Looking forward to Season 2

I was a little skeptical when I began the first episode because I thought the plot would be a little predictable (i.e., everyone goes missing and the remaining people have to fight eachother to survive) but by the time I reached the second episode I was in shock. I won't give away any spoilers, but this show took so many twists and turns that I really had no idea what to expect in each episode. The plot is so gripping and very unique and I fell in love with all the characters. Despite there being so many characters, each one had clearly been very well thought ought, so the show managed to pack in tonnes of thrilling action without sacrificing the plot or characters, which is where a lot of action shows fault. I cannot wait for season 2!!!

I got hooked from the start and I was excited for each episode. The characters are so good, storyline is brilliant, and I enjoyed every episode. I have many questions but am sure we will get our answers in the next season. Cannot wait for S2! I will definitely rewatch it again :D

Alice in Borderland was truly a spectacle. It was fast, chilling and exhilarating at the same time, and I was constantly on the edge of my seat. The survival games that Arisu and his friends are forced to partake in were truly the stuff of nightmares and incredibly challenging, so the story takes you for quite an epic ride.

It was so imaginitive, the characters interesting and I loved that the writers managed to keep Arisu true to his character till the very end. I binged this series overnight (I could not sleep not knowing what the next episode had in store) and then rewatched it three times afterwards because I could not get over it. The show had unforseeable plot twists, and if you love fast-paced, thrilling stories with a pinch of dark violence, Alice in Borderland is precisely your cup of tea.

Would totally recommend!

Zera Dec 23 2020 1:09 pm Woooooooo!!!! Another KentoxTao team up! I really like these 2 artists. They're both great at their job. I just finished watching this series a while ago. And it's a great thriller, puzzle, to kill or to be killed movie. I already saw Tao in the movie The Werewolf Game (2014) and another movie where she needs to kiss the other girl using a red lipstick in order to snatch the other girl's face. So when I heard that she'd be in the movie and be casted as Usagi, I thought that she'd be perfect for the role. And she is!!!! Can't wait for season 2!!!

Aozora Dec 12 2020 9:02 pm I am not into this genre, battle royale or slasher type. But, this series is good entertainment. Some of the casts are good, especially the females like Ayaka Miyoshi, etc. Some of the actions are also great, like Usagi jumping between windows. It's like the scenes from Tomb Raider and Horizon games.

Also, I wonder how they shoot an empty Tokyo. Really wondering.

Anyway, this is a good entertainment while a lot of thinga do not make any sense, but - again - nothing to expect from this genre.

Hoping for a better second season.

And I have a question for You all. I really fall in love in Karube <3 And when Karube died, ehh, I don't know what to say. I'm so, so sad. Maybe he came back on second season. Maybe his died isn't real, only fiction.

What do You think? Od maybe someone knows anythink about this character? Maybe in manga he stilo alives?

If you haven’t watched it and your reading comments to see if it’s worth it Just Watch It! You be the judge of that! But I highly doubt you won’t feel the same way as me! Please let there be a season 2 ^_^

There’s a chinese drama called ‘Legend of YunXi’ i discovered it late almost 1 year behind and i loved the leads so much that i’m feeling upset why i found that drama a bit late. Guess what they’re pairing again with new project and will be released on 2020 too same like this pair. Kyaaa 2020 must be a good year ?
