A story that depicts the lives of people at Jongno Yulje Medical Center. The professors, ob/gyn residents, and the friendships between these people are told, including first year ob/gyn resident Oh Yi-Young (Ko Yoon-Jung).

Nik Aug 20 2025 6:53 pm I come here right after finishing the last episode. At first I was a little unsure if this K-drama is something I'll like after ep 1.

But I continued to watch and I'm glad I did, because this drama is just wonderful. So Many great characters in the script played by fantastic actors, some even have not acted much yet and did such a great job.

Go Youn-Jung is so cute and always has this indifferent look on her face, it's so funny ! I did not immediately recognize Kang You-Seok after watching Black Knight not long ago. His character is someone you really like to have around and professor Ryu Jae-Hwi is a hidden hero ! And, I knew from the start how professor Seo Jung-Min ("the witch") will turn out to be later on. And I'm glad !

Episode 10 was the best IMO.

It seems you also have to watch Hospital Playlist first to get all of the connections, you might recognize the concept of each episode while watching, and some seem a little too long at some places (with characters from Hospital Playlist), but that is not making the drama bad at all. I actually was looking out for the 2 TXT members, but they just appeared in a video. I wanted to write that some things were a little too much (for example things that happen on the New Year's Eve/Jan 1st), but I think it's alright the way it is.

Ignore the not so positive comments here and watch it, I'm sure you'll enjoy this drama!

The characters in Hospital Playlist has better dynamics and there are so many entertaining interactions between all the different characters. I can see why there are people who love Hospital Playlist but dislike Resident Playbook.

But remember, in Hospital Playlist, the five Professors have been friends for a very long time. In Resident Playlist, the four first year Residents don't really know each other before they started their residency. When it comes to character dynamics, you can't really compare the four Residents with the five Professors in Hospital Playlist.

Secondly, the five Professors in Hospital Playlist are older and at the peak of their career. They are mentors and problem solvers. With years of experience, every one looks up to them for guidance. The four Residents in Resident Playbook are just starting their life as career doctors. They lacked experience, they fumble, they look to their seniors and Professors for guidance.

The difference in skills, friendship level and perspective means Resident Playbook can never follow the same formula as Hospital Playlist. In my opinion, Resident Playbook has already done a good job portraying the lives and challenges of the four Residents.

The four Residents are extremely flawed at the beginning. You probably will not like them on first episode. I got especially turned off by Sa-Bi and Yi-Young on first episode. One of them feels pretty obnoxious, the other feels very unmotivated. But as I kept watching the episodes, the four Residents start to grow into their role and by the last episode, you can see them earning praises and respect from the nurses, seniors and mentors. Resident Playbook is a show about growth. Try not to compare the show with Hospital Playlist and you will enjoy the show.

With someone we love getting promoted to Professor at Jongno Yuljae hospital, I really hope that if there is a season 2 for Resident Playbook, we get to see that newly promoted Professor in more episodes in a mentoring position to the four Residents rather than just a cameo.

we try new things, we make mistakes, we learn from it, because it's our first time of life. i personally like resident playbook with amateur side of characters more than hospital playlist with professional side of characters.

Chip Jun 18 2025 7:54 am Go Youn-Jung is one of the best actress ever but Shin is right up there with her in Resident Playbook, which is now in my top ten K-Drama list. Their is brilliant use of comedy, which is difficult to pull off in any show. Acting in comedy is considered to be one of the hardest parts but the entire cast and especially Go and Shin do it with incredible skill. The director also dersives high praise for making it all work. Over the years I think this will be foundational and a classic.

So irksome for parents this day and age to still place all their hopes on their children… I mean, your daughter’s suffering from cancer, and all you care about is if she can still be a mother in the future, or if she could go back to work after her surgery!? Zeila Jun 01 2025 2:03 pm Giving it a 5. After watching Hospital Playlist 1 and 2, I was really looking forward to this one. But it turned out boring as heck. Lead female character (not the actress herself) was extremely boring and stupid. Most of her lines consisted of "What?" or "Huh?"...got tired real fast. The R1 with the glasses? Truly irritating character all the way through. Cast was great, especially the cameos by the 5 doctors from Hospital Playlist. But the cast could not overcome a truly boring and repetitive script. I watched HP 1 and 2 twice. This one I wont.

Even though i’m big fan of Go Younjung, my favorite character in this drama is Pyo Namkyung by Shin Siah. I live the slowburn romance of OhYiyoung and Ku Dowon. Overall i love this drama so much, hoping to get another seasons.

rob May 19 2025 11:04 pm Solid 10 for me. Checked enough of the boxes with the exception of being only 12 episodes. I'd be all in for another season. Plus, the plot line would line itself into further seasons easily. I thought the cast was great. The plot line was great and the story line didn't get bogged down midway through. It wasn't your typical hospital ER scenario with car wrecks, fires, bombs, earthquakes, and etc tragedies that fill up most hospital based shows. Instead, the OB-Gyn was a completely different take and setting. I so much enjoy how many Kseries run multiple plots/relationship simultaneously. Enough said without spoilers.

Very nostalgic couple of yulje medical center came as the cameo make me really want the hospital playlist season 3. Resident playbook is very related to the young doctor now, but all the character is growing until episode 8, can't wait for episode 9. I like how her heart was set from the moment she realized she liked ML. Nothing to sway her... not even his rejection. I like that it didn't make her feel insecure. ML is pretty good actor... I have felt the clear shift in the character's emotions. Level 1. Big brother (caring but also teasing)... Level 2. Caring boss... "its business of course but I'm onyour side" Level 3. I'm confused by your confession is it right for us to cross that line Level 4. "I really really wanna cross that line but I'm scared but my emotions are getting more intense the more I think about it and I think I might just risk it all right now" ..... ❤❤❤

Well I too made mistakes initially couldnt tell the dilatation very quickly but never something like this . I dont know Im from a different country our consultant doesnt come to every delivery or didnt suture vaginal deliveries we had to do alone. Ofcourse we were trained. That idol doctor is really something haha.I couldnt stop laughing . Actually I dont know regarding skills they look more like interns rather residents

Lily Apr 16 2025 3:09 am I think K-drama viewers might not be ready to watch a drama about growth, where the characters are still making a lot of mistakes and are still amateurs. They’re used to watching shows where the characters are already experts—especially if you compare it to Hospital Playlist, which featured professors and second or third-year residents, or even fellows.

Remember, these are first-year residents—of course there will be chaos, confusion, and uncertainty.

If you’re expecting something like Hospital Playlist, then you’re watching the wrong show. You might as well go back and rewatch Hospital Playlist. This drama is more about showing their journey and growth as first-year residents.

As a Big Big fan of Hospital Playlist, I like this spin off so far. It has more drama than HP did because of the senior doctor’s bullying but the wholesomeness is still there. I like the four’s growing friendship and Yiyoung’s budding romance with Dowon (I still find it kinda weird since they’re in laws tho but yeah idk LOL lowkey also rooting for Jaeil). I can’t wait for the OSTs as well since the line up is So Good. I hope my winter garden would cameo here as well as a married couple hihi. Can’t wait for the next episodes

I'm really looking forward to seeing the character growth and how relationships will develop. Looking forward to the reveal of Oh Yiyoung's past and what disaster led her back to Jongno Yulje. Looking forward to when they finally have dinner with Um Jay. Love the catty feelings Namkyung has for Yiyoung, but can't wait to see how their friendship blooms. I'm excited and will be obsessed with this drama.

I don't know if it will be as cool as Hospital Playlist or not. So far, the story in Ep 1 is a bit stiff, I haven't found any fun points yet. There's nothing wrong with a Hospital Playlist prequel, but the cast should still be the OG 5. They showed us flashbacks with them still playing as their younger selves, so if they suddenly recast, it wouldn't be the same.

Or at least news about what happened with the couples, are they still in relationship or not. But whatever tvN will give, I can't wait for this sequel series.

angela Mar 01 2024 6:48 am For everyone being confused, Kim Song-Hee is literally the credited assistant writer for all the reply series and hospital playlist. I’m sure Lee Woojung and shin wonho pd are participating as creators of this series. It’s always nice to see the assistant writers finally being given the opportunity to shine alone and that is one of shin wonho pd aim to provide a platform for this amazing people. We have great cast too, go younjung is amazing and boys involved her great actors too. Let’s root for other two girls who is having their drama debut in this series. Hoping the for the best despite the current situation
