Gong Ryong (Lee Min-Ho) is an obstetrician and he is the prospective son-in-law for the largest chaebol group MZ. He has a secret mission that he can't tell anyone about. For his secret mission, he pays large sum of money to travel to the space station as space tourist. At the space station, Eve Kim (Kong Hyo-Jin) is stationed there. She is an elite space scientist and is currently on her first space station mission as a commander. She is a perfectionist who strictly follows rules and doesn't tolerate a single mistake in an area where dangers lurk everywhere. Her crew members including fruit fly research scientist Kang Kang-Su (Oh Jung-Se), who is the second son of a family that runs a global financial company.

And the rest it's sometimes so and too much and so.. I am watching for the actress and Lee Min ho who is very good here

The main male lead was ok, as were a few supporting characters, but the rest of the cast was very unlikable and you couldn't root for anyone and basically didn't care what happened to the characters and some you wished misfortune upon. However, the actress that played twin sisters was endearing. The so-called "science" aspects, whether medical or space related, had no relation to reality. So aspects of "science" that the series said could not be done in space have already been proven doable and other they said could be done cannot be done. You have to suspend reality in your mind to accept the "scientific" aspects of the storyline.

Sarah May 25 2025 7:32 am I was binge watching just ignoring all the weird and unrealistic stuff, hoping it would get better and although I watched it to the end, I have to say that the ending was so far fetched and terrible. This drama had a lot more potential but extraordinarily unbelievable and disappointing. I loved some of the characters and the actors were all fantastic, the storyline was just weird and bad.

Becky Apr 20 2025 6:14 pm I knew going in that this drama had bad reviews! I heard how weird it got, and that's why I watched it! I love me an insane and unbelievable drama. If you do too, turn off your brain and enjoy. The acting and special effects were great, I think they spent all their money on that and had none left for the scriptwriter. I was laughing so hard at the unhinged plot twists by the end, it was sooo ridiculous but extremely entertaining. And really? All I want from a show it to be entertained, tbh! So it gets a thumbs up from me. Also, I have never been a Lee Minho fan but I actually liked him in this....

Its sad that the ratings in Korea were so low. Is that normal given that the kdrama is on netflix? Anyway, if you’re a LMH fan, go watch it. Its a good kdrama. The story could use some improvement but it is what it is. Overall ill rate this 3/5.

Ulap Mar 25 2025 6:53 pm I thought this Kdrama had potential with an original story of astronauts and space, but the characters were unlikable! I will start first with Eve- she appeared so self righteous and let her chief walk over her. Gong Ryong was also a human punch bag. I felt like they tried too hard to make the ending seem "artsy" but failed. I really wished I could have liked it more, since I love Lee Min Ho, but if the drama did not have likable characters, it does not make up for the fact it the drama was visually stunning.

Ahn Mar 16 2025 11:25 am For me, the ending was so ugly and beautiful at the same time. Ugly because why did she *spoiler*, but beautiful because I love how the storytelling wrapped up the drama. It's So Beautifully Executed Ugh My Heart. I don't know my favorite scene was the last 5 minutes of the drama Hahahaha. It's so heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time. Ugh it's so bittersweet ?. I cried a lot Hahahaha. I still get heartaches when listening to their ost.

Other than that, I just watched the kdrama because I have nothing else to watch during mealtime. Also, I disliked was how their relationship started and that all of the happenings were only in a span of like a week. Like what.

No shade to the actors and actresses though. They did great!

Like very illuminating how screenwriter is she thinks its so smart as foreshadowing but its very illuminating.

No More Chaebols Mar 03 2025 3:17 am It was that dumb idea of setting fire in episode 3 that was the straw that broke the camel's back. Reading the summaries for the finale I am so glad I dropped it early on. It had great potential to showcase astronaut's lives with some romance thrown in but became a shitshow that somehow not just has takes which show regressive mentality about childbirth but also women professionally as well making them seem unsuitable to such a job as liabilities. Billionaires and the risk with space tourists was a good point but honestly? Chaebol tropes need to become extinct.

Rob Feb 27 2025 8:55 pm I thought this was one of the top Kdrama I've watched. However it went from a 10 to a 7 personal rating in episodes 15 and 16. Episode 15 was like a space ship crashing into the sun and it was completely destroyed...poof! So instead of telling you how gawd awful the ending was, I'll tell what I enjoyed. I thought the cast did an outstanding job. Of special note was Santi because unlike any Kdrama I've previously seen Santi was actually a sentient life form. All previous Kdramas with a Caucasian actor remind me of what it must be like for an Asian to watch the American western Bonanza with the Chinese cook "Chopstick" written half a century ago, Lol. The only other space flix I've watched has been Firefly. Other than that I don't care for space flix genre, and have never seen a Star Trek or any similar show. I found the space ship zero gravity filming amazing as the crew navigated about the station. Anyway, this all ended with the horrendous 15/16 crating into the sun, no into the moon, as it was that bad. Such a shame. And there were multiple reasons for the final episodes to be such a disaster, so I won't bother to get into that. Tsk, tsk.

Leona Feb 24 2025 4:50 pm I had high hopes for When the Stars Gossip because I love sci-fi shows and movies about astronauts going to space—like the amazing ones from American productions. But this? This is an absolute train wreck. The storyline is beyond ridiculous, filled with unrealistic scenarios and cringe-worthy moments. Who thought having sex in space was a good idea? It completely ruined any seriousness the plot was trying to have.

The worst part? Gong Ryong. He’s an insufferable character—cheating, indecisive, and just downright frustrating. His actions make no sense, and instead of being a likable lead, he comes off as selfish and messed up. How are we supposed to root for him? His entire character arc is a disaster.

I’ve seen great sci-fi stories about astronauts exploring space, facing real dangers, and dealing with meaningful struggles. This show, however, fails completely in both sci-fi and romance. The romance? Forced. The chemistry? Non-existent. The ending? A complete letdown.

This is easily one of the worst K-dramas I’ve ever watched. Save yourself the time and skip this nonsense.

I hated Love scout I played on ×3 til the end . On this series I went with the pace the emotions they put onto this is marvelous absolutely beautiful. I can understand if a lot of people say this drama is not good, but i really like this one. I watched it because I like Oh Jung Se, but I didn't expect I really enjoy the story.

This show definitely had its ups and downs, like many netizens I also stopped watching after a few of the first eps, but gave it another go because I love KHJ so much and she hasn't done anything new for so long! Imho the writers were so daring and creative on the sci-fi aspect about a possible future of space travel and co-habitation. I admire how they thought out of the box and although they did have some misses, I'm glad they delivered this trippy exploration about humanity. Also great performances by KHJ and LMH!

I didn't like the storyline, the ending was so disappointing. the whole story was dragging. Credibility issues with the whole story. Just doesn't make sense. If you ask us to imagine - well, this is beyond my imagination. i had to fast forward many times so get to the end. So disappointing. I wonder why these great actors agreed to play in this drama, not entertaining, boring - you name it. A waste of good acting. I loved the previous dramas the actors acted ini. This one is a flop. seriously I just wanted to see the end as I liked Lee Min Ho's acting.

Actors, please find a better script next time. Do not waste your acting skills

Lost in Space Feb 23 2025 11:08 am Phenomenal acting by everyone in this drama, but even that couldn’t save this show. The writing was a hot mess! I’ll suspend disbelief and believe that all this stuff can happen in space. I have no problem with that. What I do have a problem are the character decisions that go against the character’s own nature. That’s what I found not believable. Still I continued on, but that ending was too much. Definitely not a drama I would ever rewatch. I only recommend if you’re a fan of the two leads.

I actually not a fan of the main actress, coz she seems always play the same kind of character only with different jobs. I have to say that my Asian wife told me that that the drama is really bad from the ratings and what people say about it. BUT the drama was except for episode 14 really good. And I was surprised about it. But maybe it is because I am western. And no it is not because there is more "sex" inside. I I like the idea of new ideas. Yes Korean don't have a space station. But the idea of the drama is quite refreshing.

No wonder it took two years of post editing work to give it even a tiny semblance of reality. Lol! Oh well even the best of actors can make a dud once in awhile. :) And we are supposed to think a baby conceived under the most questionable of circumstances is going to make for a totally happy ending, after all the rigamarole and lies and trauma the characters lived through together? Egad! I wish I had never even started watching this weird drama!

Bimini Feb 22 2025 11:12 am Truly thought provoking. In a way, a space fantasy, since none of us knows what would truly happen - even though we have all kinds of theories (scientific and otherwise). And the morals and the ethics, loyalties and romance. How do they skew everything? What would we do if we were there, in place of one of the characters? How would we solve it? Why are we even considering going to Mars, if humans cannot reproduce in different gravity pressures? This kdrama may be flawed (I'm not convinced that it is), but it certainly raises far more interesting questions than 'how well is the script written', or whether or not the lighting should have been different in a certain scene.

I don't have a problem at all with the other actors, they all are playing their parts really great, but OMG, the plot is so bad... It makes me skip a lot of scenes, until I find something that I'm interested in. A lot of stuff that don't make sense, it keeps on dragging over and over again... Definitely it could have been a 12 episodes drama. Honestly, I'm not surprised it has such low overall rating.

The clock is ticking and they're still squabbling over the last morula. At the end of episode 14, it seems this drama is being dragged out to require a second season. Such a feeble plot. I really expected more from this writer.

The writing is boring, the story unbelievable to the max, the pacing is very slow, LMH's lines (numerous) are the cheesiest I have ever seen in a K drama. Everything that has happened to this point could have been accomplished in the first 1 or 2 episodes if better written. I feel it's such a waste of these good actors, especially Kong Hyo Jin and 180.190.109.197! How did they ever agree to participate in this farce? Because that's what this drama is. For comparison, Vincenzo started out as a farce but developed into an interesting drama. After 14 episodes, this one seems like a flop to me.

hansmama Feb 14 2025 2:59 am I watched this series because of LMH. I was waiting for a love story what will make my heart flutter but did not get it until maybe episode 11. It also explained in episode 11 why I didnt get much “love” feeling in the first 10 episodes. They could have made the whole space setting shorter just because there wasnt really much romance in it but thats just me since I like romantic shows lols. I still recommend this show. It looks like they put in a lot of money because the quality is top notch and I see a different side of LMH too. His character here is different— total opposite of his usual characters. I love it and I hope they make it 25 episodes!

chabs Feb 11 2025 1:07 am This is definitely Black Comedy kdrama, it's not only scifi romance. I do wonder why the writer make this as scifi but also black comedy? Maybe she is also feels desperate with their own society, I don't know. Some issues related to humanity , birth growth, life and death explained in really awesome way. Not everyone's cup of tea, maybe only for adults. Like someone said this drama is for Full Developed Frontal Lobe Adults.

The story line is also so stupid it would be very difficult to believe. Both the leads are engaged to individuals who they are not in love with and there respective fiancés are not true.Within 10 days they fall into love. All this while busy working on the space station. To make it more unbelievable one of the fiancés ex lover is also on the space station. It is no wonder the ratings are in the toilet. Wasting the time of the three main leads. This wouldn’t even make a good soap opera.

Where does the opinion come from that an astronaut, a woman, should be very young. That would be absurd. Both FL and ML are almost 40, which is just the right age for advanced professionals in life, and the acting is excellent. I recommend this series to everyone.

My Dad worked on the Apollo program back in the day, met the astronauts who landed on the moon, and I know he would roll his eyes at this "far out" script - pun intended. lol I mean, taking one's clothes off in space to get warmer? Who came up with that ridiculous scene? And Gong Hyo Jin's comment that "it's protocol" made me laugh out loud! I understand that they think they might die but it's still ridiculous to have an intimate scene like that taking place in space. :) I have loved this writer's other screenplays over the years but this one is simply laughable. Maybe I will enjoy it again when they're all back down on earth and no longer in space. Then it might seem more realistic.

As unrealistic as the details may be, it’s so enjoyable. All the actors did a fine job, but I’m loving Lee Min Ho & Kong Hyo Jin’s characters & chemistry together. If Commander Eve was the typical beautiful antagonist with perfect hair & make up, it would just be another kdrama cliche. Hopefully, when they’re back on earth, she’ll remain a believable character & won’t be taking long walks in spike high heels & getting plastered on soju. (What’s up with that anyway?) I’ve only seen LMH in 3 other dramas, yet, he may be my favorite actor. While it took me forever to get through boys over flowers, I loved him in everything else. His sense of humor & decency are so enjoyable. I could only see a small portion of Pachinko, but was so impressed with LMH’s acting range. I’ll watch him in anything, he makes me feel good. I saw Kong Hyo Jin in When the Camellia Blooms, but I couldn’t get my husband to watch. I think after seeing her in When The Stars Gossip, he will be happy to watch her in anything.

Meanwhile, KHJ’s character once again manages to make everyone dislike her—she’s frustratingly annoying and obnoxious, acting like she knows everything. But maybe that’s what great acting is all about? When an actor makes the audience feel something so strongly, whether it’s love or hate, they’re doing their job well.

One thing that stood out (and not in a good way) is how easily the characters communicate between Earth and space using regular mobile phones. Isn’t that completely unrealistic? As far as I know, you can’t just call someone in space the way you would on Earth. It requires a specialized communication system that relays signals through satellites—similar to a satellite phone but with dedicated space infrastructure.

We’re only at episode 8, so I’m hoping both lead characters develop stronger chemistry and depth. So far, the supporting characters actually have more interesting interactions with each other. Let’s see how it unfolds!

Highly recommend watching this and as bonus, Lee Ming Ho's handsomeness and Gong Hyo Gin's beauty make it even better plus also they are great actors even include the OST soound bckground by Jin of BTS. The story is so rare bec the scene and concept exploring mixed in the space. Love it a rom-com story. and there is more...cheating of love there.

I cannot stand his character and especially in episode 6 when he went off on her. Even if you are a doctor,you have no idea how any of those experiments will affect an unborn child. What they are doing is very unethical especially that they haven't reached the same stage yet with mice so what makes him think that it's safe on humans? So far his character hasn't done anything even slightly redeemable but somehow people call the FL annoying? hello? she is the captain and she has to follow the rules to keep herself and her team safe and ensure they do what they came there to do.

I am watching four currently running Korean dramas right now and this one is the one I am most looking forward to watching because it's just plain fun. Gong Hyo Jin as the Commander is quite refreshing because she isn't falling instantly for Lee Min Ho's as the "tourist" character, but she is on her guard. That's what a Wise Commander would do. So the interest will come in how he can prove himself to her, that he isn't just toying with her but is sincere.

Love KHJ. If she's in a drama, I have to watch it. The cinematography is spectacular, and the inside of the space station is fascinating, even if a lot of it may be graphically enhanced. I have no idea how realistic it is, but it's a Kdrama - it's meant to be escapism! As expected with a LMH drama, all of the supporting cast are outstanding actors. So good to take a break from all the blood, guts, and gore, that seems to dominating online dramas. Thank you to the cast and crew!

This is actually such a quintessential k-drama, crazt, over the top, dramatic and totally unrealistic (ofc this is set in space, come on guys), but these elements are exactly what make it such a classic k-drama standard. Lee Min Ho is of course the king of such dramas (and he's so good here) but I'm disappointed to see so many people unaware of how Gong Hyo-Jin is literally the queen of rom-com Kdrama land. Pasta, Master's Sun, It's Okay I Love You....Miss Ma'am has always been the legendary. If you think she looks old -- Good! She is literally a queen and anyone paired with her will have to hustle to match up and gain Her attention. Not every female partner needs to be younger or "youthful" in a way that makes the male lead appear like the caretaker, she is likely throwing you off because she is actually a legend -- both as an actress, and also because her character is so accomplished! Super glad LMH is such a cute pairing with her and is so in love with her by the 3rd / 4th ep - she really commands such attention. If you're annoyed by that...idk man maybe grow up

Catastrophic scene of Dr. G in ep. 4 was so stupid, it’s like a scene from cartoons. Yeah just for entertainment. Great cast no doubt, but I am watching because I like KHJ. The first two episodes I laughed until I dropped, in the 3rd and 4th episodes I was worried that my heart almost jumped out. The acting is simply brilliant. He is 4 years apart with Kim Go Eun which acted with him on his previous drama and I'm sure no one cared. I'm watching it for Gong Hyo Jin as she is one of my favourite actresses from SK and I was even considering to not watch it cause I don't like Lee Minho's acting but she is my main charm in this show. People need to relax and understand that there are relationships in this world where people are just people and even if she looked way older than he is (she doesn't) that shouldn't be an issue.

However, I miss not being able to binge watch all episodes at once. I’ll be watching through February to it’s completion. Watching Min Ho is an enjoyable pleasure. Pachinko was only 8 episodes-not enough. I hope there is more to come for Hansu. I realize it’s a different network, however I will follow Min Ho because he is absolutely gorgeous, and I enjoy his acting, singing and dancing. All of him. Oh and he is a fashion icon.
