Jillibean Dec 16 2024 11:00 am I finally was able to track this drama special down and watch it. It's a page in the life of Crown Prince Jeongjo, the son of Crown Prince Sado who was famously executed in a rice chest for various crimes against the people in the royal court (the film The Throne is based on that incident too). His childhood friend, a royal scribe, wants to preserve past historical records about what happened to the royal family when Sado was executed. The Prince, his son, wants those records destroyed. Who will win the debate, or will they both lose? No matter what happened to those records in real life it was Jeongjo's mother who wrote an autobiography later in her life detailing the whole sordid time of that Joseon era in the late 18th century. It was translated into English and I read it a few years ago. Fascinating autobiography of a royal, I think the first one ever published by a royal in Korea.
