-Yamabuki ([[Mahiro Takasugi]]) is the eldest son in the Haneko family. Due to his younger brother's accidental death, his mother Yukino ([[Yuko Ando]]) has closed her heart and lives in fantasy world. For his mother Yukino, he has written letters to her, pretending to be his younger brother. Yamabuki's father, Jungo ([[Ken Yasuda]]), is unable to accept the change in his wife and stays with his mistress. While Yamabuki's grandfather, Shogo ([[Akira Emoto]]), speaks of his dream to build an amusement park, his grandmother Sumie ([[Kimiko Yo]]) makes a living dealing in lies at an antique shop. His older sister Beni ([[Yuka Kouri]]), who seems like the only normal person in the family, defies all of her family, declaring that she hats lies and liars. All of the Haneko family look away from the uncomfortable truth. Even though they don't want to be a part of the family any more, they still they live close to each other.
