It's 1600 A.D. -- an 17-year-old orfan called Takezo lived in a farming village named Miyamoto. He participates in the Battle of Sekigahara, the historical battle that gave birth to the Tokugawa shogunate of the Edo era (1600 -1968), with his foster brother Matahachi. Happened to be on the wrong side of the battle, the two teenagers barely survive the battle and try to get home after the defeat. On their way home, Takezo and Matahachi meet two women living deep in mountains collecting swords and armors from battle fields. Matahachi falls in love with one of the women, Oko, and disappears with them. Left alone, Takezo returns home but get captured as a war criminal. Takezo tells Otsu, Matahachi's fiancee, that Matahachi died in the battle, but she receives a letter from Matahachi apologizing for the defection. Otsu rescues Takezo out of capture and leaves the village with him. However, Takezo soon gets captured by the local samurai force, and put to a house prison at Himeji Castle for three years. Takezo horns his sword skills during the three years, and upon his relearse, he receives a new name, Miyamoto Musashi, from lord Ikeda Terumasa. <br />
