Tajuro Kiyokawa ([[Kengo Kora]]) left his domain and became a ronin. He spends his time barely making ends meet. Next door to him, Otoyo ([[Mikako Tabe]]) runs an izakaya and she has feelings for Tajuro Kiyokawa. Tajuro Kiyokawa though is oblivious to her feelings for him. One day, Tajuro Kiyokawa's younger step brother Kazuma Kiyokawa ([[Ryo Kimura]]) arrives in Kyoto. Kazuma Kiyokawa has admired his older brother since he was little. He mistakenly believes his brother left the domain to overthrow the Tokugawa shogunate.
