This<br /> area was the core of the huge expansion of the Japanese economy after World War II. Munakata arrives in Yako following<br /> his release from a juvenile detention center, where<br /> he has spent the past 10 years, after killing his mother<br /> when he was 15. Here he hopes to begin a new life in<br /> freedom, despite the heavy burden of guilt he still carries.<br /> He joins the workers at International Electronics Industry,<br /> making test products for precision machines, and lives in<br /> a humble company apartment. But the new life for which<br /> he has waited so long quickly becomes a mundane, normal<br /> existence lacking anything to move his heart or give him<br /> excitement.<br /> One day, a girl called Yukari visits his room. She is the<br /> daughter of Matsumura, who is a priest and runs a strange<br /> congregation called Maltel Community – Kawasaki Semi<br /> Evangelical Church. She invites him to attend the church’s<br /> Sunday services.<br /> Around the same time, Matsumura visits Munakata and<br /> asks him to do a secret job: to make a gun out of an old TV<br /> remote control. Munakata accepts the job and visits Tamura<br /> Industry to buy the parts he needs. At first he can only get<br /> faulty parts, but Kazue, the owner’s wife, exchanges them<br /> for him. Munakata starts making many of these weapons;<br /> at the same time, he starts an affair with Kazue, who reminds<br /> him of his mother.<br /> But these strange, peaceful days do not last. Munakata<br /> is plagued by memories of his crime and the words of<br /> his counselor at the juvenile detention center.
