When he was in the third grade, he developed his interest in film making using the super 8 camera. He moved to United States in order to become a film director after junior high graduation. In 1998, he graduated from the California Institute of Arts and returned to Japan next year. In 2000, his script was elected by Tsunku, a Japanese music producer, among more than 2,500 scripts, and he made his debut as a director by “Iki-jigoku” (aka Living Hell).
