View source for FAQ ← FAQ You do not have permission to edit this page, for the following reason: The action you have requested is limited to users in one of the groups: Users, Main_Editors. You can view and copy the source of this page: ==What is "AsianMediaWiki"== AsianMediaWiki is a website devoted to Asian films, television dramas, music (more coming later) and the performers behind these productions. ==How do I edit a page?== To edit the whole page at once, click the "edit this page" tab at the top. To edit an individual section, click the "edit" link to the right of the section heading. ==How do I create a new page?== There are several different ways to create a new page, all of which produces the same results. # Create a link to the page on a pre-existing page (that is applicable), then click on the red link which appears. # Click a preexisting red link on an article page and you can then create a new page for that red link. # Type into the search box (not the google search box) the title of the page that you want to create, if a page with that title does not exist you should see "'''There is no page titled "EXAMPLEPAGENAME". You can create this page.'''" Just click the red "create this page" link in that message. ==What format should a new page take?== New pages should follow the same format as other pages in that specific category. Movie article pages should have these sections: "Profile", "Plot" (if available), "Cast", category tags (Korean films, Japanese, Chinese films, etc). View the source of any similar page to get more details. Note sections are always created by using double equal signs (ex. <nowiki>==Example Sub-heading==</nowiki>) Actors, Actresses, and directors should also have at the minimum sections for "Profile", "Filmography" (broken down between "Movies" and "Television" if applicable), and category tags (actor or actress / country of origin etc). ==Correctly naming article pages & links== Because AsianMediaWiki links to other pages automatically, exact name spelling is crucial. Although movie titles, actors, actresses, directors may have many different ways to spell their names on AsianMediaWiki their names must be spelled in one unique manner. ===Individual Names=== ''Always'' spell individual names by First Name, Middle Name, Family Name format. As an example, although it is common to see the actress name spelled like Bae Du-na, her name on AsianMediaWik would always be spelled as Du-na Bae. In Asia, people do spell their names family name first, but for the sake of consistency and not having duplicate content, please follow First name / Family Name naming pattern. Koreans in particular will have their names spelled Firstname-middlename Family Name. ===Movie Titles=== If there is an English title given by their respective producers, we will use the English title. This is simply because it is easier to remember and search for "Memories of Matsuko " than it is to search for its respective Japanese title "Kiraware Matsuko no issho" or "Ad Lib Night" rather than its Korean title "Aju teukbyeolhan sonnim". ==How do I make links?== Simply placing double square brackets (<nowiki>[[</nowiki> and <nowiki>]]</nowiki>) around a word creates links. * As an example if you want to create a link to the Joe Odagiri page simply place double brackets around Joe Odagiri like <nowiki>[[</nowiki>Joe Odagir<nowiki>]]</nowiki> and it will automagically become [[Joe Odagiri]]. ==How do I upload images?== You must first make an account on AsianMediaWiki. Then simply look on the lower left sidebar of any AsianMediaWik page and you should see "Upload file" or "Upload Multiple Files". Click either of those links and upload your image (.jpg, .gif, and .png are supported). To add an image to a specific article page you must copy the uploaded image's entire name in this format: Image:Marine Boy.jpg and paste that into an article page. Simply pasting Marine Boy.jpg will not work. * You can add the image individually by using double brackets, the entire image name, pipe, image size, pipe, thumnail, (pipe, caption - if you chose to add caption). The added image you would input would like this: <nowiki>[[Image:Marine Boy.jpg|250px|thumb]]</nowiki> * You can also create an image gallery by following this format: <nowiki>==Image Gallery==</nowiki><br> <nowiki><gallery></nowiki><br> <nowiki>Image:Marine Boy-01.jpg</nowiki><br> <nowiki>Image:Marine Boy-02.jpg</nowiki><br> <nowiki>Image:Marine Boy-03.jpg</nowiki><br> <nowiki></gallery></nowiki><br> ==How do I make an account?== To create an account on AsianMediaWiki, simply click the "log in / create account" link on the top right of any page. Then follow the "create account" link and fill in a few details. ==How do I make my own user page?== Once you make an account you will have your own user page which is located in this manner : [[User:RamenLover|http://asianwiki.com/User:RamenLover]] Also once you make an account you can quickly access your own userpage via the link at the top of page with your username. Adding information about yourself works the same way as making / editing any other AsianMediaWiki page (use the same syntaxes). Feel free to add whatever information you want shared and other like minded users can know about you and even talk with you. ==How do I add a Comments section?== Please do not add comments sections - they will not work. AsianMediaWiki staff will place the comment section for each and every new page that is created. This is because the comments section requires access to another part of the website that only sysops have access to. ==How to place Videos== Currently you can only place youtube videos on any article page. To place a YouTube video on any page simply add a line that looks like : <nowiki>==Video Clip / Trailer==</nowiki><br> <nowiki><youtube v="i-nTO9nafCk" /></nowiki><br> replace the "i-nTO9nafCk" portion with the specific youtube video ID number you want to include (found on youtube's video url). We also have our own hosted videos but at this time only sysops can add these videos. ==How can I ask questions?== The simplest way is to contact a system administrator. Currently sysops are [[:User:RamenLover|RamenLover]] and [[:User:Raku|Raku]]. Click either of their user page and look for the discussion tab at the top of their page. Then leave your question (system is almost like writing a message on a chalkboard). We're friendly and love to talk. ==Comments== <wp:comments> wp_post_title=FAQ wp_url=http://asianwiki.com/commentsdirectory/ </wp:comments> Return to FAQ. Page Discussion View View source History
