Youth Record follows the lives of young people in the world of modeling.

Sa Hye-Jun (Park Bo-Gum) is smart and handsome. He is a nice guy and a popular model, but what he really wants is to become an actor. He has auditioned for many acting roles, but hasn't found success yet. Unfortunately, Sa Hye-Jun doesn't have much presence as an actor. Meanwhile, An Jeong-Ha (Park So-Dam) works as a make-up artist.

I even got thrilled with the superstar stuff and hea juns career more the love story although hea jun manager was sometimes annoying, I mean she should I've learned her lesson after getting betrayed by tesu so many times but she will always fall prey of his traps. Nonetheless l still adore the movie giving it 8/10

Toney Jun 30 2022 9:26 am It was warm drama. I enjoyed watching PBG cos of his looks and warmth and I really enjoyed the bromance he had with both his friends Hae Yo and Jin U.. But the relationship tho, not so much. It mediocre, the break up worse silly, the attempt to get back together was worse, and the end well... Sucked.. I could only keep going cos of the interesting family squabbles and PBG's funny and naive manager.. But the relationship which I was rooting for just turned out whack.. 6/10 for me

Jenny May 01 2022 8:17 am Probably one of the best k-dramas for me. The chemistry btw the ML and FL was just amazing, so intense and beautiful. They got my heart fluttering left right and centre. The most amazing fact of this drama was the sincerity shown by the ML, it was refreshing. I'm tired of people lying because they think it's for the better, 1000 K-dramas later and it will still not be for the best..

Would say Hye-jun's character in pursuing in whatever he wants is more confidently believable. Jeong-ha definitely has inferiority complex. The warmth of the story almost can go like Reply 1988 but it falls short somewhere.

Sing Feb 15 2022 10:09 am I enjoyed ROY when it premiered. I am watching it for the third time with days finishing it the second viewing. Love It!!? The music is perfect! The chemistry of PBG/PSD is proportional to the characters. To cut to the chase, there Should be a season 2 with Shin Se-kyung as the woman who wins Park Bo Gum's heart. Park So Dam realizing what she selfishly gives up tries to gain his affection once again. He struggles between the two but decides the woman he wants to be with is the one who challenges him because she is unafraid to support him in every way without fear. They would be an incredibly hilarious and beautiful couple on screen. Their chemistry would indeed wake the dead. Hyeo and So Dam should end up together, but her heart still secretly belongs Park Bo Gum. His brother gets a girlfriend who doesn't take his sarcasm. What do ya'll think???

glen Jan 23 2022 8:00 am I struggled with this from the very beginning - mainly because of Park So-dam. This actress simply has not got the power and charisma required for a lead heroine - she is better suited to supporting roles - like the best friend of the heroine or her sister etc. She is sweet enough - just not memorable. The love triangle took far too long to get going and the family scenes were totally boring. I couldn't get past ep 3.

Janet Dec 04 2021 10:58 am Was very engrossed til the last 3 or 4 episodes. Their relationship should have ended sooner knowing the lack of real effort and time that Hye Jun gave to such a loyal gf. I realize he was building a career but a year plus is unrealistic. His character and his leading lady's character were very flawed and never explained to each other...not fully discussed. But the ending sucked for me because I was hoping they had matured. Maybe left hanging hoping for a second season but missed the mark for me.

Suddenly not long ago i wanna see Sa Hye Jun and rewatched roy but strange i become really in loved with roy, sa Hye Jun and the rest Character. I realised that this is a great drama with good directing, beautiful cinematography, good OST and great acting from bogum

Loved all the cameos, Park Seo Joon, Hyeri, Seo Hyun Jin and others, wonderful they gave their friendship to stars and writer, Director etc. Still can’t get used to Park Bo Gum being a male lead when he is so fragile and light, like a doll. But he tries hard and he must be the Korean style. Thought the second lead more manly and handsome but I suppose he was suited to be a rich guy. Park so Dam is a brilliant actress and versatile, can be cute too. The manager Min Jae was good and the fights between the agents interesting and funny. It fitted the title - could have drawn the ending out just another couple of minutes. Great show guys.

GG Aug 14 2021 11:05 am For me I think that may be SHJ and AJH didn’t love each other. They just met at the right time, when they were weak and just want someone who understand them. When he met AJH again after broke up, SHJ is able to be friends with AJH (unlike his ex) may be it’s because he never love AJH. He just feel comfortable when he knew she was his fan and ready to support him in every way.

Couples in romance dramas usually raise doubts, 'Aren't they really dating?' But this couple showed a chemistry that was 2% lacking to the extent that they were sure they weren't dating.

Park So-dam's acting, which was surprisingly lacking in 'everyday acting', made me feel regretful the whole time I watched it. Even the date scenes that should have been famous are the only things that remain in my memory are Park Bo-gum’s warm visuals.

It is just so unlucky that he got to paired with Sodam without starpower in dramaland; w/out magic to pull ratings. (ex, Beautiful Mind & C&4K both are failures, BM cut into shorter eps and C&4K didnt hv gotten buzzworthy). PSD shines only when he needs to shave her head like in Priest or be the dark or indecent charater like in Parasite. She is good in grp movie but she doesn't hv her solo movie yet. One more thing their visuals are far onpar. Bogummy looks doesn't deserve PSD mediocre visual. They dont hv chemistry at all in terms of looks. Well acting there is, cant deny it. Evn PSD beautifies herself to the nth degree it didnt work for her face. The character HaeHyo needs more practice in acting. He is very stiff. Well I enjoy the drama solely bec of Bogum's acting and visuals.For me 7/10

But I did cry a few times coz of how triggering it was even tho this is kind of a boring/cliche story. Haven't decided if the leads were lacking chemistry or if the script is way too cringey. PSD needs to pick more interesting roles/scripts.

Akhuna May 21 2021 5:26 pm I really love this series. It's very realistic ad it shoes so many aspects people have to deal with daily (except for being in a relationship with a upcoming star): 1. It shows family issues, relationship issues, friendship issues and business issues. 2. And it gives you lessons for life: prove who you spend your trust on, never give up a dream and believe in yourself, rely on the people you live and vise verse, accept help, stick to your principles, money and success aren't worth every sacrifice. 3. It criticizes some of the principles of the society as well as the economy and so you have to consider the consequences of the choices you made/ will make. For me it's a 10/10.

Potgirl21 May 11 2021 8:07 pm It’s a very realistic drama for me which I can relate.I had a relationship with a model turned actor now in our country.We were both young and both busy chasing our dreams.We hardly have time to see or spend time together.The time we spent together even if it is short are precious just like hye jiun and Jong ah in the drama.We drifted apart but we were able to reach our dreams.He is a successful actor now and I’m a successful nurse here in Canada. Park Bogum and Park So Dam have a great chemistry in this drama they were able to give justice to their respective roles here.The supporting characters are all great.The ending is realistic not the usual fairytale endings. Park Bo gum and Park So Dam are good actors I would continue supporting them.I hope they would have the chance to work together again in the future.They are both beautiful inside and out. I would recommend Record of Youth it’s a very realistic drama.I would be watching it again.For my rating i would give it a 10.Thank you ROY!!!!

The mom of the 2nd male lead had more screen time than him, and I didn’t enjoy her character and acting. For Park Bo Gum’s acting, I give this drama 6 stars out of 10.

Of course there are scenes that made me giggle but the flow of the plot became so draggy at the end. Love the OSTs tho. 6.5/10

Nadia Feb 01 2021 10:01 pm Honestly, I was hesitant to watch this drama because Park Bo Gum is in it. I find him stiff and disconnected as a male romantic lead and I don't enjoy his drama for that reason. He has great chemistry with parental relationships and romances, but for some reason, when it comes to romantic roles, he comes across like an android. He's a talented actor but should probably stick to movies or only do dramas where he plays intense, serious roles. No romance.

The drama was "aight". I love Park So Dam and her character was lovely. Also enjoyed Hye-Jun's brother, but otherwise this drama is a bit meh. No chemistry between the male and female lead. Jeong-Ha had way more chemistry with Hye Hyo than with Hye Jun. Hye Jun's agent was getting on my nerves. All that gumption disappeared after episode one. I couldn't believe how naive and simple-minded she became later.

This drama is a little too boring for a binge-watch but probably decent for a "watch while I wait for new episodes of a current on-air drama".

Mc Jan 06 2021 5:09 am This is a good drama. I like how these actors portrayed their characters. This isn't like other drama, it might bore some but I can see the difference. There is no two or more characters trying to win the leading actress heart which is the normal tactic of dramas to win viewers. This is really intended for mature people who wants something new and somewhat realistic.

What just surprise me is the ending , hoping that you could at least justify the 16 episodes and won't waste your viewers time with no good ending. Having a good conversation while walking after bumping to each other is not what I am expecting. Reuniting and having dinner with family which was missed when they are still together might be better. I just wanted to see how sweet they'll be ,being together again.

I discovered the fact that one has to let go in order to attain stability and achieve even better. Though it's a difficult moment to perceive but worth the wait.

Most importantly Park bogum and Park so dam sure rocked their roles. Big fan? Record of youth sure was worth the watch. Love the ost....#seveteen Love from Uganda

Dev Dec 14 2020 8:54 am The rating in SK is stable and the drama always at the top search and discussion cause they can relate and enjoy this drama. SK people are getting used to so many types of drama and they could make the differences which drama is actually good. They have been fed up with good dramas in their whole life.

But for foreigners especially the new fans of kdrama who want to watch it because it's in netfli during this pandemic, this drama is totally something new for them and didn't suit with their taste and expectation.

The drama also handles topics like self-esteem, platonic love, family-relations. I like hhow Sa Hye-Jun and An Jeong-Ha's relationship is shown in the drama : as a sum of simple but precious moments like spent eating, talking, dancing in the rain, watching tv together. Good show! would recommend it :)

The growth of the youth, the love story, how they speak togheter, their ironic, their difficoulties in lives, their relationship and the friendship. I liked the family storia top, how the mothers interact. It wasn't boring, there were many lives developing togheter like happens in a family. There areany Deep world in this drama! 9/10!!

el Nov 21 2020 10:40 am the first episode was unbearable for me. i'm not sure what's wrong with it but everything is bland and the acting from most actors are all extremely stiff. maybe it's the script writing? i had great expectations for this drama mainly because of PBG and PSD's previous works that have caught my eye. however for some reason this one is just - i'm not sure which word to use to describe it but it's such a shame :/

Byeon Woo Seok is the real surprise: he is not only beautiful, but he has a incredible and intense skill. No dubt: Park Bo Gum is an amazing, young actor. His acting skills are incredible and evolving. But this drama feels like a docu-film. And sometimes it's boring. The plot has been put aside and It focuses on too many repeat scenes and too many embarrassing compliments. Towards ep.10, there's a decline and Sa Hye Jun risks becoming obnoxious.

I don't know if this inconsistency is caused by script's fault or direction, but I think it created the real problem for this work, which could be better. I have no bad intentions saying this words. There was beautiful moments in this drama, especially those with grampa (I really love him, 'cause remember me mine). I hope have not offended anyone, but I hope can be constructive. It's just the opinion of an italian' cinema passionate.

STAN TXT Nov 08 2020 10:43 am when it was announced that park bo gum and park so dam would be in a drama together i was super excited, the first few eps were fine but as i watch the drama i became very bored and uninterested. the two main leads didn't have much chemistry and the side plots were too many. i think it would've been better if this was a movie and they cutted out the side stories.

I don't agree with the opinions regarding Park So Dam's acting. I definetely sensed when she was annoyed especially in the scenes with her mother. I found her lack of expression when she was sad or angry, in accordance to her character. Jeong Ah isn't exactly the person who let's things escalate.

The leads chemistry was cute and fine at first and later went downhill. But I want to assume that was on purpose for the plot.

My main issue is that there was too many unnecessary scenes. Specifically, the side characters like Hae-Hyo's parents took too much screen time, the scenes with the mothers together felt too repetitive and the scenes with ex manager also felt dragged. I just wished we got more out of the couple and the bromance between the three.

I also HATED that the show wasn't chronological. The way showed the 'present' but then cut back to what happened before that, was so irritating. Sometimes I couldn't understand how long ago the 'flashback' scene happened before the 'present' scene. I belive,the flashback scenes with the couple felt superficial because of this. I watched this at one go, but even that didn't make me feel that the events were happening for 2 years. I was surprised when the acticle said they've dated for almost over a year. It definitely didn't feel like it.

It is a happy ending where you know that eventually they will get back with each other. The director, the acting, OST and the cast made this awesome for me. The writing and plot could have been made edgier but still if you put it in the writers perspective, you would appreciate the story telling because you don't have expectations rather you were there invested in the story emotionally instead of watching the story and expecting something it is not and you feel disappointed. To cap my comment, as it has a good rating overall, it resonates well with those who enjoyed it

I watched it because I love Park Bo Gum for several reasons : he is not only an excellent actor, who is perfect in showing his emotions, but also a good singer and pianist, and last but not least a very handsome guy. However, I was disappointed with the storyline. For me, Encounter and Love in the Moonlight were much better as far as the storyline and the ending are concerned. If Park Bo Gum had not been the main lead, I would not have watched it.

It was interesting at first but the problem is it was so boring. I waited for it every week but I don’t really feel excited about it. I just continued watching it just because of PBG and I expected it to improve but sadly it didn’t.

Sorry not sorry but I can’t feel So Dam’s emotions. She has like one expression all the time. And I don’t feel any chemistry with PBG. Nothing. I’m sad that this is his last series before enlisting. :((

First half, she's independent character-wise, that's why her acting is bold and confident. Then we transitioned to the stoic acting of hers, because she's starting to change. She's suppressing herself little by little and so her acting became cold. That's why the break-up had to happen. Because it's starting to change the two of them, they aren't as youthful as before, they worried too much to the point that they weren't expressing their selves anymore. Had they still pushed for it they would have ended hating each other. And mind me, break ups aren't supposed to be fast, that's why it dragged until the last episode because they had to show the gruesome side of break ups, where in you dwell in sadness and feel trapped so you find ways to let your mind go (PBG's enlistment) or you use it as motivation to become someone better (PSD's continuous working). Their meeting also wasn't rushed at all. It wasn't for the sake of "happy ending" or something but more of a "let's go back to the start". Because they let go of each other in the past, they were able to redeem their selves again and laugh with each other again. PSD's cheerful acting also came back as a sign that she's happy now. PBG is also the same, he knew PSD still likes him but is denying it, just like their first meeting. Whether they repeat the same process or not, it will be up to the viewers' discretion. It will question how much youthfulness you have in yours, will you risk things and run for it again though you may end up hurting? Or will you go for the safe path, which will not hurt you but will leave you with regrets instead?

In the drama it shown how youth struggles in order to fulfil their dreams that sometimes they need to sacrifice something in order to achieve what they dream of. I may say that the lead actors didn’t end up as a lovers but somehow Sa Hye Jun marked her as a good memories because when they meet again they were good seeing each other. Yes there are some questions were hanged as to what had happened to the other characters it just that it shown there that there are a lot of journey they have to take as a youth. Record of youth so it’s just the beginning of their new chapter of their lives. It was recorded as to how they started as a youth and it will be a continuous journey as they take the path of their own lives. This is drama is therapeutic for me the conflicts are not that heavy and it gives a good mood as you watch it. Thanks Record of Youth. Thanks PBG

In Record of Youth he's a despicable, manipulative and abusive actor/fashion agent. I ended loathing the sight of him, which makes him a fantastic actor in my eyes. Chapeau! I just don't like that there are too many problems/unnecessary scenes, I noticed the scenes were like UP and DOWN, for example, something great happens then later on it goes bad then good and then bad again gosh it's repeating, and AJH keeps spending time with Whh Without SHJ's knowledge and that's cheating??? but anyways I think the ending is rushed. I expected that they'll make up with each other I mean like talk deeper about it bc of that "breakup" and then a happy ending but like I said it's rushed and I'm kinda bit disappointed bout it bc didn't meet my expectations. PBG sometimes appears to be childish rather than manly, he needs to get rid of that extra sway motion from neck up. The 2nd male lead is often stealing the show. I've watched all the 16 eps and I wonder why most of Kdrama's ending or the final episode is being rushed. I'd say ,7 stars for this show.

Romance its not main story so im okay with the ending but im sure they still have a feeling for each other. For me its a happy ending.

Always enjoyable to watch Bogum performance, he is still not perfect but i love it. Its a good drama indeed. It's okay if anyone doesn't like it because people's tastes and thoughts are different. I am happy that there are still people who like and appreciate Roy's story even though it is an open ending.

I know that in the entertainment industry of Korea, many trainees/actors have to take part in many supporting roles (sometimes don't even have any lines or have to play dead) before having a lead role and that could take 5-10 years. That's normal. But in this drama, PBG is only a model and then he has a role and then he becomes famous and then he gets the best actor award (not even the rookie award first?). Oh wow not realistic at all to me. Actually, I must say his life is quite dreamy compared to the sufferings of many other characters in similar-type dramas.

About his background? Ok, he's poor but at least he has a house to live in. He's not an orphan. He has a loving mom & grandfather. His father is strict and his brother is annoying but aren't we Asians all grow up from a family that our fathers are hot-tempered and our siblings are sometimes stupid and we had a lot of fights about work and love and future when we are in our 20s? And we never call that a tragedy or difficulties in life. That's just how families are.

And his relationship with PSD? Oh I don't even want to talk about that. This drama is a disappointment.

I’m not disappointed with the romance because it wasn’t the main point of the series. I do however feel that the last episode was disappointing. There wasn’t anything that made me feel like it was over. Sure they all stayed friends but we didn’t see any insight to that. It was very brief and I feel, it was cut too short. They honestly could have had a better ending.

Yes it is centered around hye Jun but it also did a very good job in portraying the struggles of youth and balancing love and ambitions. I wasnt disappointed by the ending. It was a way of showing how all the charecters were turning a new page in life and better things await them. Sometimes you just need different perspective to view things in a better light.

Ran Oct 30 2020 5:18 am SPOILER: The first half of the show we were introduced to JH as someone who speaks her mind and has no filter and this is one of the reasons why HJ fell in love with her. During the first half if you ask me what sort of gf will JH be to HJ, she is somebody who doesn't hold back on her feelings and will likely be the one to keep everything together when the going gets tough for them two. Somehow the strong JH we saw just dwindled and faded into "just the gf". Thanks to the writer who can't be bothered to develop and sustain her character. It was so hard to root for her reasoning during the breakup and it is up for us viewers who are rooting for them two to interpret the rationality of her decision. What annoys me the most (apart from selling this wrongly as a romantic story based on the teasers and trailers) therr was such a good build up between HJ and JH love story only for them to drop the ball just like that.

On the open ending, I know there were loads of talk about JH still wearing the shoes but HJ drama title is called Love Comes with Rain (Netflix trans)! All these subtle details to me implies that the two will get back together despite HJ saying that I have to say no when JH asked her if she wants to come in he salon.

For me, sge didnt potray her character well. Also there was no development throughout the drama, it was on plateau the whole time, well except for the grandfather. WHH had more screen time with AJ than SHJ did. I think their scenes were nicer, warmer and had less cringe like that of SHJ and AJ. AJ’s story was lacking a bit. It was somewhat empty and lacked substance. The story was going well till SHJ got his big break and the writers didn’t know how to go about the whole story.

To tell the truth, i dont have much interest on the romance between Hyejun and Jeongha, its just i just want to watched the family drama, he characters life struggles, success, the decisions they make. The story is so heartwarming. I cried so hard on the scenes when Hyejun cries alone, Hyejun's father apologize to him, when Hyejun's grandpa dedicated his achievement to his son, when Haeyo wrote a letter to his mom and his mom burst in tears.. i totally watched this drama because i can relate to the character .. 10/10

It was absurd.. The female lead was a guest star and the ajuhummas on the show had more screen time and more of a storyline than she did.. I mean is the writer and director a PSD Anti Fan.. ROY=time wasted!

Park Bo gum dazzled and so did all the costars.  It is such a great example for a youth pursuing any career that one can come from any financial class but if in right path and with right connections nothing will stop you if you develop a trust and confidence in peers and supporters.  All youth have a background given by your parents until you are 20 but you are capable to take it further or chose your own dreams rather than getting boggled down due to criticism or opposition by parents or colleagues or haters.  The confidence, hard work and of course the luck factor helps.  On the process you may lose love or leave behind your friends but if you are sincere enough at the end all come back to you when you have time as they respect your struggle.

People who take shortcut often find themselves lost in despair and jealousy when things do not work for them.

Record of youth showed us all of it as it portrayed different youth and their financial ability to grow or to just remain where they are.

It lived upto its name and so I am really happy with its end which shows them going to 30's where they cannot blame anyone as their own actions are responsible for where they are now. Because you took time your friends and love comes back to you now it is upto you whether you take it further or change the direction. Very very realistic.

Great work by all not a common kdrama where the girl is shown a bit weakling of two or end always has to be shown that they get back together as a couple rather here they left us to wonder.

Was so heart warming and focused more on supporting characters as well..I love the Sa family fights and conversations..the story is basically about a guy becoming a super star and the Romance is just like a chapter in the book..the story mainly focus on Bogum! I liked how they didn't change hae hyo into a bad guy! Loved how the friendship was maintained till the end..! In simple words A Heartwarming Drama With A Glimpse Of Real Life!

In real life - people don't give so easily - they don't give up on their career, on their relationships, love etc. Ending a serious relationship by just declaring it and refusing to reason is definitely not a reality.

They cannot show us that Jeong-Ha is getting better in her career and at the same time wants to break-up with Hye Jun cause he climbed the ladder quicker than her. It just doesn't match the character they built up so far. Jeong-Ha isn't that person.

They rushed the last few episodes soooo much! I don't need a fairy tale ending, but they could have had a much more realistic ending with the storyline moving at a different pace.

If the writers didn't want to show romance, they shouldn't have concentrated on it in the start. It is just confusing for the viewers on what to expect.

If you think about it, the title is "Record of Youth", and not "Record of Our Love". Sometimes, we meet people along the way, but we shouldn't expect them to be with us all the time because guess what? That's selfish thinking. Circumstances can change, and it's effect on each of us might be different. I love how this drama portrayed that we can get support from everyone around us but in the end, it's always going to be just us that could resolve our own issues. And it was actually an open ending. They might get back together again in the future—who knows?

And there's no way a work of fiction can perfectly describe how reality works. Everything about the drama was based on the writer's imagination so let's not try to justify a totally bad ending by saying it was realistic. I still commend all the actors especially Park Bo Gum and Park So Dam but this is another drama that I'll never watch again or recommend to my friends. The plot was well executed up until episode 12. From 13, it just became messy and pointless. My advice to the writernim is that when she wants to make a drama about youths again, she should make adequate research because Record of youth didn't fully portray the lives of actual youths.

If you're getting bored with the plot, it's because the realistic plot which resembles that our life actually sometimes just like going nowhere. We want to skip those episodes because they're not pleasant just like we want to skip the hard times in our life and get the happy ending. This drama help us to reflect our youth and dealing with the reality of this world. Everything doesn't have to be marvelous or dramatic just like some K-dramas always give to us and will never happened in our life. But this drama is related to so many stories for the watcher. So go for another Disney movie if you're not ready to get this anti mainstream drama.

I'm expecting for them to fight the challenges in life together, as Hye jun said Jeongha was there for his success but why can't he be there for her. I was hooked at first, when the storyline was about Jeongha having a crush to her idol Hyejun and they got into relationship, I wish the writer had a better turn of their relationship but it turns out a turn off to us fans. What a disappointment! I don't think the writer would succeed in later projects if she has this kind of mindset in making her works.

I think that's the reason why others find it boring in some episodes. But this is not a love story, that is just one part of it, this a story about the life records of the 4 youths. For awhile i became hooked with the relationship of Hyejun and Jeungha what will happen to them etc., etc., etc. without realizing that the story of this drama not only center to their love story but on the records of three youths. I highly recommending it to all youths and parents as well because it has a bonus of Parents Record as well and not to mention other life records. Some find it boring but that's life is all about, its not all a bed of roses, this drama is really very realistic. What's more important is the message and lesson you will get out of it. Other bonuses it has an excellent actor our PBG, I salute you together with the other cast and staff. You nailed it , this is truly a masterpiece, nowadays our youth needs a drama like this. Kudos

And now i looked back at the director and realized that I liked all of his works haha. I did not realize that I binge-watched his works recently, what a coincidence.

Quinn Oct 27 2020 2:40 pm SPOILERS!!! The ending was realistic because not all relationships stay together especially ones where the actor is huge. It was bittersweet but if you're the type to imagine what-if, JH was wearing the shoes he bought her.

In the end, it was a good drama. However, I'm still wondering what happened to that assumed breakup scene at JH's place? I was waiting to see if it was incorporated into the last two eps. but I didn't see it at all.

Anyway, it was a good drama to watch and realistic for celebrities and their private lives not being so private.

PBG and PSD has really good chemistry when it started and even when they started dating but at some point it became boring and we didn't even see them together anymore. I honestly didn't like how they did the 2 years later and we had to figure everything back on our own. and they didn't even explain how everyone's life went on after the 2 year. we never saw anything about the jin-u's relationship with the sister and also i believe we could have gotten more from the main leads relationships not just 5mins towards the ending to explain that. and also they never really said anything about the PSD relationship with hye hyo. all the actors payed their role perfectly in the show but the writers could have done better honestly. hopefully there is S2

When the drama started, I was so invested in their friendship, even when jeong had first met him and did his makeup, I could already feel the chemistry, and that scene where he confessed to her in the rain, my heart almost exploded but with time they started growing distant. We barely got scenes of them together after hye jun's career took off. So I feel like if this was a different drama with a different plot, we would have been able to see more of their chemistry

The main reason I started watching the drama was because of the leads (Park Bo-Gum and Park So-Dam), but we rarely got to witness their moments as a couple, the slow and awkward transition from friends to lovers, their fights and making up. The relationship itself seemed a little rushed, and once they started dating, their screen-time together felt even less. Park So-Dam barely has any screen time compared to Park Bo-Gum and her role in the drama feels minor and adds no value to it. After watching the 15th episode, I have to say that I'm disappointed with the writing. None of the characters are written in a way that they can have a character arc. Looking back, from the first episode until now, all characters have been the same and the only change is that Sa Hye Jun's career took off and he now has more problems than he used to. Breaking up now, it would seem like they have no real conflicts or irreconcilable differences, and are only breaking up due to his hectic schedule. While that is very realistic, it offers very little in terms of character growth, plot, and entertainment to the viewers. The chemistry between the leads is something that cannot be commented upon since we barely got to witness them as a couple, to even judge their chemistry. Overall, the drama has an abundance of talent in terms of the cast but did not utilize it well. Another thing I've noticed in a whole lot of k-dramas is that the first few episodes (around 6 eps) are really good and rope you in. Then some unnecessary detail or plot twist is introduced and takes up a major part of the remaining episodes and makes the drama feel dragged out and slow. This forces the viewers to watch anyway, as they are already invested in the drama and require some closure. Most k-dramas can be completed in just 8-10 episodes. The remaining time just feels like a drag. I know now to never rate or give reviews about a drama until I've completed at least 75% of it.

How do you describe in detail the connection the actors have? What factors make the actors’ interplay enhance the film? It’s that connection or harmony that is quite challenging to put into words. In my opinion, that's what's missing between Park Bo-Gum / Sa Hye Jun and Park So Dam / An Jeong Ha.

Just like "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder", the beauty of a drama (or the chemistry between or among actors) is in the "eye of the viewer". The person who views or watches the drama gets to decide "what is beautiful" or "who have on-screen chemistry". We can "agree to disagree".

Since the death of Charlie Jung, totally unnecessary plot twist or whatever the writer was trying to do to elongate the drama, the drama just became a shadow of what it used to be. Episode 15 was a total eyesore, I was not dissapointed, totally expected it. Thank God it ends tomorrow. Be ready for a tasteless and cliché ending sprinkled with some faux tears and melodrama.

I can't imagine what this drama would have looked like if anyone else played hye jun, the role looks like it was meant for bogum, it fits him so well. I probably may not have watched this if jang ki yong didn't decline

I do understand the pressure that can go with dating a celebrity but she knew oneday he would hit the jackpot. The scriptwriter should have securely made her mentally capable to deal with the issues. Breaking up seemed as though she didn't trust SA will always be there. I am glad SA was able to speak to his friends and that will probably help him. But going through a hard time he would have needed his girlfriend more in comparison to the other people to help him through it. Most likely they will get back 2gether. Another thing more power shouldn't have been given to June Agency. In real life scenarios, that agency would have been the first to be investigated(it seemed too obvious with the way he was contacting SA's people). I took time to watch these 2 episodes because I had sauced it out that Ah is going to give up. Probably it is because I am a woman and I wanted her to get her fighting spirit. Anyway, I still enjoyed watching them.

There are too many side tracks and too much emphasis on agents and reporters being vindictive and back stubber. The emphasis should be growth of success for Hye-Jun as an actor and Jeong Ha as makeup artist. After Hye-Jun success as an actor, Jeong-Ha became a supporting lead and not as Leading actress. It is a mistake because she should have a good script portraying a strong independent and supportive girlfriend with A desire to succeed in the makeup artist business. I saw her act in Cinderella with the Four Knights and Parasite. It is a shame the writers wasted her talent. It is the main reason I started watching Kdramas.

ROY Oct 20 2020 1:08 pm This drama is literally called 'Record of Youth' so I think it was pretty obvious they were going to break up, also hye jun's monologue in ep 5 hinted at that. IMO ROY has one of the most realistic plots, shows how a relationship really is, it's not always rosy and love is not enough to keep two people together. This is not your regular cliche drama were the leads get together in ep 14 and leave happily ever after

This is disappointing. Only 2 episodes are left which means they will probably rush everything in the end like every K-drama that ends with us guessing the end.

However, by episode 13 there is still no romantic chemistry. The resilient Jeong-Ha whose business is starting to take off and which should make her more positive appears depressed and going through the motions in her relationship with Hye-Jun. She now half-heartedly verbally spars with Hae-Hyo, who has become a whiny, spoiled rich kid. This drama started out interestingly but now has devolved into an unappealing mess of cliche' scenarios. What a waste of acting talent!

It’s all pretty obvious to us about the struggle actors and actresses face on daily basis but this kdrama made me realise a whole lot of things at a better level. I’ve loved the acting of all the characters and i am enjoying the plot as well because even if it’s a basic issue we all tend to forget that they are humans too ! Especially loved the cameos and will continue to support Record of Youth :) I really think people should see this kdrama and realise the struggles and the ups nd downs of it too because we all know it’s not all glamorous.

I think In real life PBG so smiley, soft heart and shy, but both idealist. But the story of SHJ, his journey to become an actor almost the same, maybe. PBG as ML Sa Hye Jun so charismatic. Byeon Woo Seok as SML actually is so handsome but still i love PBG bcs im bias ...haha. the story is ordinary and simpel but its a surprise bcs how i love it. Really. Nothing grand or fantasy but the drama tone color and directing is interesting. At korean blogs and news there are many positif/good review about ROY. Bcs of good quotes in this drama there are some korean which gained some strength and spirit in life in this corona situation. I am so glad. And PBG being praised for his amazing nano level acting. I dont know anything about a good or bad acting was but one thing for sure i can feel what he feel bcs his eyes can speak a thousand word that actually is a good sign for me. I can say ROY is a good drama although not everyone like it.

This drama isnt for anyone but dont say its bad. Bcs every drama has moral message to convey it to us as audience. Also there is korean article praised for PBG bcs of his amazing nano level acting. For some, the story might be slow and boring but for me it’s simple, yet very realistic and heartwarming.

I really love how matured Jeong Ha and Hye Jun’s relationship is. It’s so comforting and heart fluttering to watch ? Maybe because that’s the kind of relationship we are all dreaming of. A relationship that is sincere, pure, bond with honesty and trust, uplifting and inspiring each other to be a better person. And all of us can totally relate because we were all like that once (when we’re young). That’s our ideal way of love.

I think if I watched this 10 years ago, this wont be as impactful as compared to what I am feeling now. Maybe that explains as well why some of you here can’t relate to the story yet..

When the drama started I always look forward to their scenes, they were so cute and fun to watch, they way they would bicker at each other and stay out late drinking and grab coffee together but now it's just so boring watching them, I just skip their scenes, they don't even go on dates anymore but I understand because hye jun is busy. Hae hyo on the other hand, I hated his character at the beginning but now I enjoy watching him and jeong ha, i think they're more comfortable with each other. I'm rooting for hye jun and his career but not feeling the relationship, I feel it would be better if they all went their separate ways.

Episode previews are always misleading, so I think we should wait till the next episode to see if anything actually with jeong ha and hae hyo. I quite agree with some comments calling hye jun dense, it's like he doesn't know what jeong ha wants or how she feels. He doesn't act like a boyfriend to jeong ha, when he comes into her apartment they sit and stare at each other like strangers, he doesn't hold her and I'm like what's up with that? For hae hyo I'm conflicted about him, He's nice, always has been a good friend to hye jun, also seem to genuinely like and care for jeong ha. He's always there for her, now that hye jun is so busy you can imagine how boring her life would be without hae hyo because she literally doesn't have friends and I applaud him for that. But I also think he shouldn't be having feelings for his best friends girlfriend, like ji ah said hye jun would be totally disappointed if he learns that, he should fight off those feelings because that would be end of his friendship with hye jun. I just hope it's a happy ending because I don't want to see any of them get hurt, they're all so precious. Fighting ROY

candi Oct 16 2020 1:16 am I am so glad its not a reply button because I would be going off.. I like Hae Hyo, people are weird, there are plenty of villain's to hate in this show besides HH. The ex manager, Charlie Jung, the dad for his obvious favoritism. Hae Hyo is not a bad character but most of this drama has been told from HJ POV. The whole point of HH monologue in episode 6 is he never acted on his feelings with JA putting friendship before love, or did you all forget about that? Personally, I am rooting for everyone. I mean Won Hae Hyo is beautiful and Sa Hye Joon is beautiful so I don't think Ahn Jeong Ah will be at a huge loss in any capacity, she is in a win win situation.

HJ may end up with JA or HH may end up with JA, shrugs shoulders, who knows, or they all may go their separate ways. What I like about HH is how he lets JA set the pace and he doesnt push her.. HH has been doing everything HJ should have been doing. He is constantly there for Jeong Ha ( slow and steady). Jeong Ha never even looked at HH but now she is.. I knew when he finally got into her apartment that was a turning point. HJ was invited right into JA apartment like in episode 2 or 3 but it took HH a long time to get in there. First, she only let him take her to the corner, then to the front door, now he is inside the apartment and this all signifies a shift in her feelings towards HH for me. HJ doesn't put JA first, actually he barely thinks of her in some ways and that's the problem! HJ was not there for JA when he she needed him and fought with her mother, he didn't think to call her until after his family left after the big win ( she didn't even get to take part in her boyfriends big moment), Jin U had to tell him that JA would see the interview with his and Jin U again told him to go check on her ( HJ didnt even think to do this), HH introduced JA to female celebs and HJ only did it after HH did it, He forgot to call her when it rained.. I mean come on.. this guy is slipping, big time.. so yes, I cheer for HH because he seems to really love her to me..

So honestly I don't care who JA ends up with as long as its the right person for her.

There’s also nothing wrong with being friends with your boyfriend/girlfriend best friend and them hanging out in your house often. What’s wrong is knowing they have romantic feelings for you and entertaining it. Seen this in a lot of kdramas can’t believe they included it here too! Aigoo so frustrating.

It adds more to what he has to deal with so makes him change his priorities and neglets things he shouldn't. Instead of being a pilar for him, and maybe a counselor because he has no one to go seek advice to when you think about it, she's one of the person he must try to protect too. Why keep on tryng to get so close to her? To the point of getting into her house? He was mad upset when Jeong Ha told him Hye Jun is waiting her at home, he probably guessed Jeong Ha didn't come out to get back her stuff because she was with Hye Jun too, yet he keeps on trying to win her over like he's willing to take advantage of the fact that Hye Jun is neglecting her. I don't like that. I don't understand people who want them to end up together. It will be just a pain for both. Hae Hyo do not have a backbone to stand against his family. His mother already showed she doesn't want him to date her, or anyone at the moment. And even later she'll refuse her, she doesn't fit her criteria. Look at what she does with her daughter. Hea Hyo will truly realize the limit of what he can do without his parents wings and doubt he'll support it. Their relationship will never work. Jeong Ha is open with him and tell him anything and everything because she doesn't love him, she doesn't care this much about him or what he thinks, he's pretty much like a stranger to her. She'll be sad to lose him but she won't be hurt. She's been this way with him from the start. She told him first she was Hye Jun's fan, talk to him while saying things that hurt sometimes without caring. She told him a few times she's this way with him because it's him, she'll never do that or talk like that to Hye Jun because she loves him & cares about him. He's a good friend, he's been there for Hye Jun since childhood honestly. When things were good for him, he tried to help Hye Jun out too. But his mama's boy side, I can't. I get that his mom is his manager so he lets her in charge of everything but how can you think you'll achieve success without fighting on your own for your own things once? He's been raised this way so he can't doubt his mom doing, most of us don't doubt about our parents doing toward us when it seems to be for our own good. He knows his mom is living through him, and we saw it was pissing him off sometimes but well, it never did him wrong so why stop her? From an outsider point of view, his mom behavior is unacceptable. To me it's like she loves him but she doesn't want to end up being hurt so she doesn't invest himself in the relationship as mush as he does. She wants him to be open with her and talk about stuff to her first but she doesn't act this way toward him. I get that because of her parents, she's not willing to rely on someone, she's used to be very independant & on her own but that's not an excuse. It takes 2 persons to make it work. Though, I don't blame her to act the way she does with Hae Hyo. She sees him as a friend, and he's good at remain on the line without stepping over the boundaries. There's nothing wrong with seeing a friend, you're working with and who's your boyfriend bestie and inviting him over to your house when it was pouring rain and came pick you up at night. You must not forget he's a friend in her eyes. I blame Jeong Ha for not being open with Hye Jun all the time as if he's gonna leave her if she complains about how things are currently. Maybe she doesn't want to appear as a clingy uncomprehending girlfriend, and well no one does, but bottle things up is not healthy for a relationship. Learning she went to some else first because he was busy and she did want to bother him won't help & will just hurt him too. He'll just feel like she doesn't want to rely on him...

I'm not here to defend her but you must admit so far, the previews and the end of the episodes have been misleading. If they were true, they would have broke up episodes ago.

Agree with you on So Dam character and the extended family story. She was actually the reason why this drama got on my radar. The first few episodes I was really in love with her character and now she just turned into a girlfriend character which makes me angry considering that she is one of the lead star (compared to PBG's exposure). She was so cool in Parasite and I thought her character here was cool up until episode 8. I'm also annoyed how little screen time her character gets. Oh well! I just hope that PBG and PSD gets to work again in the future.

Those who are to quick to say that JH is cheating... Chill guys! There is nothing wrong in inviting someone to your house especially if they've done you a favour and with that suitcase she has. Wait for the next epi before we judge JH.

My take is that HJ loves JH and cares for her deeply but the problem is that HJ doesn't follow this through with action or simply doesn't know what JH wants. On Epi 12 it was Jinwoo who asked HJ what would JH feel if she sees the interview, it was only then that HJ remembered to call her. Again on the scene that they were supposed to meet HH together at the park JW again said shouldn't you be visiting JH again HJ is clueless. To me this imply that he loves her but he can also be absent minded (add to that the lack of skin contact after epi 8). It may be the way the show is telling us that they are bound to not be together... Ouch! On the other hand JH is on the hurting side here but she also needs to be a bit more demanding(if only..) which HJ won't mind because he is hers. I hope she finds strength in the next few episodes.

The reason why I wouldn't jump on the HH bandwagon is because this character is so pathetic. On Epi 10 he insisted to join JH so he could also see HJ when JH already made it clear that she wants the time with HJ. Again on Epi 12 he knows that JH loves HJ when she said that she is now used to waiting when she didn't used to be, but, still he is persistently intruding into his best friend girl's life.

I can't believe I'm so invested in this drama... Lels!

Jeong literally doesn't know what's going on with hye jun, she always has to ask hae hyo how he's doing or where he is. I know hye jun is busy but jeong ha is also human, she has never been in a relationship or ever being in one with a famous person so how is she supposed to handle the situation especially when she's always kept in the dark.

Also stop hating on hae hyo, yes he has feelings for his best friends girlfriend but he hasn't acted or told her about it yet, hae hyo is the one always there for jeong ha, he was the first person to get a celebrity client for her and making sure her business does well. Hye jun is always busy so the first person that comes to her mind when she needs help is hae hyo that's why she called him when she was stranded in the rain, hye jun wasn't available so I see nothing wrong with it. I don't think jeong ha is the kind of person that can cheat on hye jun, she's principled and knows what she wants. The way things are going, i honestly don't see a jeong ha and hye jun endgame

Somehow I don't blame jeong ha, she's feeling lonely and she doesn't get to spend as much time with hye jun as she used to since he became famous. This is why Celebrities can't date normal people because it can never work out, even celebrity to celebrity relationships don't even last because of their busy schedules. I honestly won't blame jeong ha, hye jun also doesn't tell her things happening to him, she has to hear from other people. She feels helpless because she can't do anything to help him. Imagine how she felt seeing his ex girlfriend coming to his rescue. Right now their relationship is so messed up, they are growing distant every second, it will be better to end it now before it gets messier imo

What happened to communication? If she wanted to go public with their relationship, she should have simply TOLD Hye Jun instead of boiling up inside. She became all sad and sulky after seeing his ex's video. She could have just simply went on with exposing their relationship on her live video if she was so sad about it but she chose not to. Then she got sulky again during HH, HJ and Lee sung lying's video call. I mean, she's his co-star and they're shooting a drama together, why did that have to be an issue? Hye Jun doesn't say anything about her hanging out with Hae Hyo all the time but tries his best to make out time for her even with his busy schedule because he knows that there's a chance of losing her to him if they grow distant. But then, just because he went on a trip and his phone is turned off one time and she doesn't like to be alone when it rained, that pretentious Jeong Ah, invited his best friend over to her home. Like wtf?? I don't think Jeong Ah 's truly in love with Hye Jun. She's just in love with the idea of being in relationship that's why she hangs out with his best friend when he's not around because she can't stand being alone. If she truly loved him, she'd have been willing to put up with his busy schedule. Since she invited his best friend over to her house because her went on a trip, I wonder what she'll do when he eventually goes to the military.

Jeong and hye jun don't act like lovers, there's no enough skinship, not enough screentime for them together, and they haven't kissed since episode six which is quite boring. I think the problem is because they got together quite early which is why most kdramas Wait till episode 10 before the main leads get together. Some fans are now leaning towards jeong ha and hae hyo because of the screentime they're getting now, tbh I wouldn't mind her ending up with him even though he's a little manipulative. I think he genuinely Likes her as well.

Jeong ha and hyejun should break up now and get back together at the end because right now I'm not feeling their relationship

What baffles me is that the 2 leads don't have enough physical affection with each other when they were suppose to be missing each other so much! What is going on?! For example on episode 10 JH came home to HJ he cooking (which was a surprise) and all HJ can muster was go wash your hands... Lol! Fans need a reason to squeal. It's a shame because I really like their banter on Epi 3 and Epi 7 kiss scene was beautifully done and same with the dancing on the rain scene. Now they have just turned into boring couple who don't touch each other anymore.

Fayesha Oct 14 2020 9:01 pm never make a reason for viewer to drop the series! whatever so impactful the scene is, locking eyes at the end of episode 12, the director must think it's a good move huh ? i'm sure couple of people will drop this series just because that scene. but the problem is, looking back to all episode before this, i can make a guess, that. nothing will happen between them, and there will be no cheating happening i hope so and hope3x so. i dare you director !!! i won't say ep 11 and 12 are bland, because the main lead interaction is so little. but i would say, this 2 episode is the bridge towards what will make this drama good or not.

Kristen Oct 14 2020 1:36 pm It has a typical k-drama premise and storyline but it is executed well (so far)! I really wanna say this is a really good drama (it is, I got hooked so fast) but there really is some major weak points and blind spots that the writers and directors missed.

1. The relationship dynamic between Hye-Jun and Jeong-Ha was not developed enough to start a dating relationship so early on in the series. It is definitely a tendency for kdramas to drag on the “should-we-date” phase, forcing you to watch more eps of their flirtations, so it is definitely something to applaud that they did not waste time on this and simply cut to the chase that they were dating. But sadly their relationship dynamic was not stable enough as a couple, it felt so sudden and forced. I really really enjoyed their friendship dynamic in the first few eps (that’s what got me binge-watching). It’s such a waste to quickly jump into a dating rship, they had such a strong friendship going on. With that being said, it’s not about starting the relationship per se- it’s how they completely changed So Dam’s character after they started dating!

2. Bad character writing for Jeong-Ha (Park So Dam) I think this is the weakest point of the drama. As mentioned, what really drew me into the series was their friendship dynamic, and this is largely due to the character of Jeong-Ha. She’s ordinary, hardworking, and witty. When she was in scenes with Bo Gum, her character shined even brighter. But right when they started dating, she instantly became this flat character- nonchalant, stoic, and just overall stupid??? It made their relationship looked super weak and one-dimensional. The lines they said also felt super scripted. I saw a lot of comments saying this but I think the root problem is the bad character development for So Dam. Which I’m so mad, bcs she is the freaking actress from Parasite. Like, Parasite. Like the one that just won an Oscar??? She was so amazing in Parasite, so it’s impossible to say that she can’t act. So I t’s definitely the character writing- why didn’t they milk her acting chops more??

3. Really, really, really unnecessary sub-plots. Even if they were necessary, they always just leave it hanging with so much loose ends left untied.

I really enjoyed Hye Jun and his family’s sub-plot especially when they showed how Hye Jun is faced with opposition within his home. That was a really interesting topic to cover in a k-drama, but as they went on...it felt kinda confusing...and unnecessary. Like the scenes about the father’s work, or the scenes about the brother’s work, or the scenes about the grandad’s modelling job (necessary, but they gave TOO MUCH screen time for that small plot). They should’ve just streamlined and stuck to the dynamic between Hye Jun’s acting dream and the rest of the family.

Then there’s the extremely unnecessary characters just to fill screen time and to create more “noise”. Like the msKim reporter? Like who tf? The ex-manager Tae-su and bitchy actor Park Do Ha? lol. Like Charlie Jung? I think first few episodes context was enough idk why they brought him back later lol and included a very weird sub-plot about gay rumours...yeah it’s not gonna age well. And a Hye-Jun’s ex LOL like we literally do not care. I might even dare say that the scenes Hae-Hyo and Jin-u was in became extremely unnecessary as they went on. Just really bad momentum overall in these sub-plots.

—————— Overall, it’s still 8/10 for me, subtracting all these weak points. You should definitely watch if you like Park Bo Gum, his character is the one that was maintained well throughout. A few was saying how this is somewhat biographical to his story, so you would definitely love him more after watching this. I also really appreciate the relationship of the leads, despite my complains. It’s really mature and easy to relate to (esp when they just started la). Watch it!

Also,,, ad-placements were not that bad. So that’s a good thing. Unlike The King ??? (((Sorry for this long ass review lmao I love it so much so I’m really mad how they did it dirty)))

RAKW Oct 14 2020 1:54 am I really wanted to like this romcom but as much as I have enjoyed the past performances of Park Bo-Gum and Park So-Dam, there is no chemistry here. It is more a brother-sister vibe than romance. The Won Hae-Hyo character is the stereotypical "I am your friend as long as I am ahead of you but I will screw you over the minute you get ahead of me" role. He is better suited to be matched with the selfish Jung Ji-A, which might have made a more interesting storyline. I hope all those involved will get better roles in the future, or at least a plot with more depth.

Unlikable Characters Oct 13 2020 2:34 pm This show is just filled with unlikable characters, like I actually get pissed off when I see the manager and the actor he manages on screen. The rich mom is so annoying as well, the actress who plays her is very bad at acting. And seeing how everyone in PBG's family acted once he became popular made me sad... his family are surrounded by entitled leaches.

PBG's character is too good of a person to be real, but I'd rather watch people too good for the world than straight-up evil people.

The girl from Parasite another Park is good too. Not sure about the story - is it really like that in K dramas and modelling?

Kad Oct 12 2020 10:54 am The girlfriend is rather stupid and its frustrating to watch...she needs to have a proper distance between her and the second lead, in ep 11 he drops her of then rings her to say that she forgot her stuff...up until that bit I was fine but the way she responded to the call pissed me off, she told him that she can't come downstairs and that he can give it to her next time...she should've told him that her boyfriend is with her so if he wants to come up and say hi or she should've sent the boyfriend down to get her stuff...the idea that a grown woman with brains can't tell that a man is into her is crazy to me she needs to sort her nonchalant attitude towards her boyfriend like he's always going to be there or something...be upfront about wanting to keep guy no.2 as an option instead of this friendship bullshit your selling?

As much as I hate to admit it there’s more chemistry between Hye hyo and Jeong ah than Hye jun and her. Finally nailed it... I knew something was missing with our lead couple. They seem forced.

Also I don’t like how homophobic everyone in the drama is. Everyone trying so hard now to justify that he’s not gay... what’s people’s problem if he is??? I know it’s an issue with the country but I don’t see how this whole concept helps, I mean introducing a whole bunch of homophobes on a character who is not even gay! Such a bad idea!

The story is really happening in real life and its good .It seems that there's need for a thrill in the acting of a woman, I do not see anything good acting jut just carried by the actor Park Bo Gum. PBG is a great actor and oppa. I love the story and its romance.

But in real fact, South Korea is still rejecting the LGBT issue. Let's see how they will give us reflection of this issue. So far, RoY always gives us so many new point of views about the daily issues that we have to handle. I love how they show us a healthy relationship between young couples, as well as so many lessons about family.

Lisa Oct 07 2020 11:02 pm Oh my gosh, I watched episode 10 and was floored by the ending. This drama is pulling at all my heartstrings. Yeah, I really wasn't expecting that ending. It was realistic though which might make it even more sad.

On Jeong-Ha and Hae-Hyo -- I thought it would be worse than what it actually was. However, for her I can see why she didn't refuse Hae-Hyo. She works for him and she could tell he was dealing with something. She knew Hye-Jun was with his family so she left. It's not like she left with the intention to go off with Hae-Hyo. Then, it got awkward with the whole phone call situation.

So yeah, she could've said let me out but that would've made that whole moment even more awkward. She decided to help out a "friend." Even if she senses that he Hae-Hyo likes her she probably doesn't give it much thought because he's her bf's best friend.

I don't think what she did was horrible but it's more of a slight lack of judgement. Hopefully, she will distance herself from Hae-Hyo without hurting the work relationship.

When they took that picture at the awards ceremony, I could tell things are going to go south in the next episodes. The friendships aren't going to last which is sad.

Tam Oct 06 2020 10:22 pm Just finished episode 8 and I don't think they'll stay together. I think this is a telling of a good memory. I just noticed a lot fo foreshadowing to their demise as a couple.

And that flash-forward scene with them on the bed...seems like that was the scene of their breakup; they both looked upset.

I appreciate the store for what it is but the writers could've done without the love square. There seems to be a few ways the storyline could've progressed without the usual best friend/ex-girlfriend plots.

I thought this was gonna be a lighthearted drama about struggles and such but it seems to be headed into betrayal and so more stuff.

I'm a huge fan of Park So Dam but have never watched a drama with the lead guys. The cast is doing a great job though.

I just wish the whole best friend plot was dropped. Also, I have a feeling their friendship circle is gonna be broken by the end of the drama.

I think Hyo liked Ji-A in the past and gave up his feelings because of Jun; so now he's like all in on So Sam's character.

Drama is worth a watch; and the ost is really pretty.

How could she leave her boyfriend on that special day to hang out with his friend. I feel like she knows about Hae hyo feelings for her but is ignoring it.

Anyways, I really like how realistic this drama is! Now that Hye Jun is becoming famous his snake of an ex is crawling back lol. Hae hyo mom Is reason why her son’s career is stagnant. She’s pressuring him and basically running his life for him. I like the way this drama is address some major issues in the entertainment industry. Many kdramas wouldn’t dare touch these topics. Kudos!

Anne Oct 06 2020 11:16 am Park Bo Gum is really a good actor and his character is showing a good range of realistic characteristics. The entire series is realistic, and it really hits close to home with all of the events happening. It really is for the youth. So I'm not really complaining about the excessive amount of screen time of Bo Gum's family here because it's too realistic.

However, aside from Bo Gum, other characters, especially So Dam's are left behind, sadly. Progress can't be grasped especially because her story isn't well-executed. And some lines of some characters are just too unnatural/scripted.

It's still a nice and chill slice-of-life genre Korean drama so it's still bearable if you don't mind the flaws. And you'll see more of Bo Gum's versatility here so I guess that's a win.

Bogum portray a wide range character through his storyline as an actor, and that is a plus point, we can see that he explores all his acting skill.. for me, I can feel goosebumps and butterflies feeling through his act, I love how his eyes seems to speak while acting. Though Park So Dam seems so bland, but actually I still manage to love their chemistry, it's like an adult romance.. not that cheesy romance we used to see. I always love to see the chemistry between Manager Lee and Actor Sa.. sooo funny.. just hope for an interesting ending plot.

The series shows the struggles, disappointments, setbacks, etc that he experiences before finally achieving success. Bo Gum triumphs in spite of the odds and has the love and support of his mother and grandfather. His girlfriend, Jeong-ha (Park So-Dam) is there to support him as well. I hope that remains.

I hope the writers let Hye Jun and Jeong-ha remain a couple.

ROY Oct 04 2020 7:25 am When I watched record of youth I focused more on bogun acting. The intonance of the voice felt different from the previous dramas. The character is made to look cool on the outside but warm on the inside. So bogum is really trying to make it different from the way he speaks, his voice and body language. I feel he looks more manly and mature. Also his acting looks more natural. I've always loved his acting style. While the story seems very realistic, there are many lessons as well. So far I enjoyed it. While the chemistry, sodam bogum so natural, their characters not cute type but sweet and realistic. Also they can still make me feel what they feel. And the dance scene in the rain don't know why it makes me so emotional. Their eyes make me understand their feelings. So that means their chemistry is good in my opinion

Also I can’t help but feel like somethings not right. Hye Jun and Jeong Ha relationship seems too good to true. It’s kdrama there’s no way everything can be going this good lol. Bo gummie and So dam have good chemistry but I agree with a comment below. Some of their interaction feels overly scripted without feelings and makes those particular scenes weird to watch. Still love the drama tho!

I think there are weak points but there are strong points as well. Let’s start with the weak points as pointed out by some fans. Too much air time for unnecessary scenes, like Hae-jun’s dad’s work and such. The apparent lack of affection towards HJ by his father is hard to watch. It gives out the vibe of “I hate you coz you’re beautiful”. Most parents would be proud of their kid’s’ accomplishments but not him. For most people, this is hard to swallow.

Not enough air time for the other actor. And when he comes on, his dialogues seems to lack substance. I think fans would rather see him more than the petty scenes in the beauty salon. It’s also annoying that although it’s obvious there’s bullying there, action for resolution by management seems to be lacking as well.

No chemistry between leads? Some fans think they’re more like friends than lovers. Personally, I tend to agree. They act more like comfortable lovers in their forties not new lovers in their twenties. Somehow lacks intensity.

The saving grace of this drama? It highlights the importance and impact of tenacity. It champions the idea of “persistence pays”.  If you fail and fall, get back up and try again. My honest opinion? Visuals are good and story line not the best but not the worst. There’s lessons to be learned and that’s good enough for me.

Park bogum have been paired with beautiful actresses but I have yet to see a really strong chemistry with one. Let’s wait and see. I’d like to see him with Im Yoona in an intense drama. What do you think?

I'm not a fan of PBG specially not PSD but i got through 4 episodes because of the content. It's low tone light hearted drama which shows particularly generation gaps mindsets. If you have a time in your hands i think this is an okay drama but if you're looking for something that will keep you watching for more i guess this is not in the top of the list. Overall I'd give this a 6/10.

I find it refreshing that the main OTP is straightforward towards each other. That's their own perspective in life. Their conversations are rather close to real life as well and that's also something I appreciate.

You're free to say that it's boring. That's your own opinion. But asking other people to feel the same way as you do is plainly bs. Let people who like it, enjoy it.

She’s a fan girl of his but she acted wayyy too cool around him. It could’ve been comic like with “Her private life” but it was just bland. After a few hours spent with him she was all “cool and casual”. No fan girl would be like that. It’s a good drama tho. Hope it gets better

Well ofc there will always bd loopholes but it's facing is quite fast and that what is so interesting. I don't like drama that's dragging. The push and pull. It's good to watch a fast faced drama plus the acting of the male lead is so on point plus being its eye candy ML. People love Bogum and there's a reason for that. Now I know why. Sodam is a bit restraint but I understand the character because she needs to earn someone's trust before she becomes so warmhearted.

I also love the parents, I never skip any scenes from them because they portray really good and they’re just being quite harsh to their children because that was parents responsible for. They’re just showing concern and care about their childrens future. And so with PBG and PSD, they’re both natural. And thats how couples actually develop their feelings and intimacy in the start of the relationship. I so like it. It’s so fresh. I really love the storyline.

Other than that, really boring. I skipped most of the other scenes. When you hire top actors such as bo-gum and so-dam, you need to be doing a lot better job than this. I hope the drama does well for the actors but it really doesnt hv much going on.

Still conflicted abt hae-hyo liking jeong-ha. It'll be interesting to see his pained, longing looks, but Idk what else to expect.

the storyline is getting boring. stop denying that it's not. especially when they dragged one scene for too long. also it's supposed to portray the youth's determination to reach their dreams, but i feel like there are too many scenes about their mothers and their families.

one thing that disappoints me the most is haehyo falling for her. if yall are gonna try to tell a story about youth than you should know that opposite genders can always be purely just friends. one doesn't have to fall for the other.

the convos aren't that great and inspirational either. lol

i get it, you want to make it realistic, with a slow burn and all. but make it interesting at least. like, my mister for example. it's realistic but not boring. and everything about it is inspirational, unlike this one.

But why is everything so attractive? Today, when dear Bogum took the " ordinary person"book and read it. I realized it was intentional. I can't say it in words, but so far this series has the hidden "sweetness of being ordinary", without even wanting to show a minimalist image of being ordinary or fake extraordinary by force. It shows what it really is but seems still attractive! And I do not know why Especially where Spoiler Bogom was confessing, without any special behavior or gesture, pay attention to his eyes, he does not make the slightest attempt to make the scene strange and special. Because it was simple-easy feeling as easy as understanding the fact which whenever they are together it rains. the scence was like you could participate in his confession, I don't know if it was the best role for Bogum or not,cause i think bogum has deep potentials we haven't seen yet, but without a doubt Bogum was the best choice for this role.

Go for it Hye-Jun rooting for you. It's really nice how they are really showing amazing character development, though I'm also curious as to the backstory of An Jeong-ha's character, why is she so sad?. The cliffhanger to Ep 4 is also the reason why I wanted to be an actor, it's only through acting that you'll get to experience rich and poor life depending on the roles given to you, though money is mostly the driving force.

I have been falling in love since i saw the teaser and publising items. Park bo gum is realy handsome and very chich to walk in the stage as model, he such a pro model. Park so is also very nice and does good job. I love so dam since watch cinderella n four knight. She never failed in her acting. I have wached episode 1-3 two times and i cant wait for next episode. Although the story is lack of plottwist but this is heartwarming drama. Simple, realise, and make my heart leap up.

I think we can all agree a high calibre of acting was expected with the actors in this drama and as usual they did not fail. When actors can make actual life scenes seem interesting then you know they're on another level altogether. I've just finished ep 3 and cannot wait to watch the next one.

Pearl Sep 12 2020 3:28 am First of all, I would like to commend Park Bogum (not because I'm his fan) He really showed us his best side as always. He portrays all the emotions perfectly well. Secondly, some of the comments below saying this drama is another love triangle, so the only thing y'all grabbed from this amazing plot is a love triangle that hasn't even started just because hae hyo and hye jun both mistook Ah jeong as their fan. I think the real message of this drama is how some youths struggle to achieve their dream while others have their paths already paved for them by due to their family background; not some meaningless love triangle. Finally, even though i absolutely love this drama, i must say the supporting actors need to improve. The two moms and even the model agency director need to improve or they'll ruin this amazing drama. Park so dam, is amazing as always but the fan girling doesn't seem very convincing. Nevertheless i love this drama. Totally recommended!

Though I appreciate his effort to execute the character. The female lead, I like the way she acts but some scenes of her needs to improve like when her bias became her client; we should see in her that she is inlove/star struck with her bias but she insists not to show it. But I see none. Just a blank face. Lastly the male lead, I salute with this man. Love the way he portrays the character. This drama definitely fits to him. And No, I'm not fan of the actors in this drama. So my judgement is equal and based on my observation.

Yes I like him a lot too especially in kill it with Nara but after watching bogum make a cameo in itaewon class I also realized I've really missed him too. I had too go back to rewatch his past dramas, He's my fave to be honest and I'm glad he'll be in this drama with Sodam who is also my fave. Bogum is rumored to be enlisting soon probably after this drama. I'm going to miss him a lot

It is good to see that he picked this kind of drama after he has already shown how good an actor he is in other dramas. If this was his first drama I would be very worried for him, since in this drama he has to pretend that he is a terrible actor. People would probably think he really can't act and not be able to separate him from the character he is portraying.
