A romance takes place between Kang Ji-Sung aka Louis and Ko Bok-Sil. Louis is from a rich family, but he has lost his memory. Ko Bok-Sil is a woman with a heart like an angel. Louis learns about true love after meeting Ko Bok-Sil.

Erika Aug 25 2024 6:19 pm As far as I'm concerned, this drama Invented the popular tropes of the mid 2010s. It did it first and best!

The now overused (spoiler) "I loved u before I met you" was so sweet I was bawling like a baby.

The family infighting for CEO was done perfectly as a background plot and didn't take away from the fun and romance.

The "crime" plot also was not overwhelming. No serial killers here!

The secondary characters were fantastic and I actually enjoyed their scenes. It helps that they are top level talent but back then a few of them were still pretty new to dramas.

Our couple fell in love so sweetly with eyes only for each other. Eyes that they kept closed during kisses. Oh Go Bok Sil, what do I do ❤️.

They took what could have been an interesting plot and story and ruined it. Casting.. casting failed so hard, especially entire top row. Wish they cast Jo in Sung with someone else too.

ratingthisshiz Sep 13 2022 9:33 am Who cast this show? The second male lead looks to be old enough to be the main female lead's dad, and the ages and styling of the leads do not match at all. There is no chemistry between any of the leads and the main male lead character type is so unlikeable, even the best looking male actor wouldn't be able to salvage his character. This show feels like it had a lot of potential. The storyline seems interesting enough to watch but it was ruined by casting and production. Sideplot attempts were really pointless and also, some things just don't make sense? Why would the three girls who robbed them earlier run from them later on? If anything they should have been beaten up earlier to make sense of them being caught more easily later or should have been bold and came up to them to blackmail them for more money. Devil is in the details. So annoyed with this show. Also they make it painfully obvious what happened to him very early in the show so there really is no mystery. I'm halfway through and likely will not finish.

berry.bunny Jul 29 2022 3:51 am this was so cute series. I regret watching this only now yet I'm glad I still did. so simple and nice story line. can't remember how many times I got butterflies hihi. It's not really sad when halmeoni died because there's no regrets left, a must watch. and this was romcom so the serial killer was not the main focus.

I miss watching these type of kdramas and I can see weightlifting fairy ad at the top corner, made me miss more romcoms

KST Nov 11 2021 10:20 pm I just finished watching this series. I really enjoyed watching this series. It was really amazing. I thought to watch this because I like seo in guk a lot. However the drama was really funny. There was a lot of comedy and also romance. The plotline was simple but nice. The only thing that was not clear was who was the serial killer of the rooftop and why did he do like other than that the story was really interesting. The chemistry between the two main leads was really beautiful.Both Seo in guk and Nam ji hyun act very well here. Seo in guk really acting very funny here. Than his other dramas this drama's role was very different. Anyway other actors too have acted very good. I really enjoyed the whole drama. Specially the last episode was really emotional and heartfelt with love and comedy and all. This is one of the best romcoms in kdrama world. Really recommend this to all who are fond of watching romcoms !!! You too watch this and see!!!This is really a good drama!!! I miss you Louis and Bokshil!!! Saranghae !!!!!!!!

Mmz Apr 12 2021 4:18 am I'm late but I'm glad watched this after "suspicious partner". I don't really like how nam ji Hyun potrayed her character in that drama. In Shopaholic Louis I like her chemistry with Seo In Guk. Even though there many cringe moment and overact reaction, but it fun and not annoying at all. I love how In Guk potrayed Louis here. Too many coincidence in overall story and somehow I can really predict how the story will end. But it still enjoyable. Aside Louis, my favorite character here is Audrey (Mari's Mom). She is such a lovable woman.

A drama that makes me feel happy all days, all time and cant get my mind of. The world of BokSil and Louis is harsh and cruel but they always give the best shot. If it was not a drama no one would be so doomed in that situation. The plot is so simple but the way everyone acts is so perfect. BokSil naive smile could brighten the night and melt everyman heart, vice versa to Louis. My precious Ji Hyun has grown to be a wonderful actress. Im so happy to see this drama.. Really

b Jun 18 2020 12:24 pm this is one of my favorite romcoms. i never expected it to be so good and me to love this drama. the storyline isnt really the best, and the villainy isnt much portrayed, but thanks to various aspects such as seo in guk and nam ji hyun's chemistry, friendship between the cast, and comedy, i paid most of my attention to them without minding various unanswered questions. this made me fall in love with seo in guk, because he can both act like an adult or a child lol... sometimes the characters are so stupid, but i liked it for some reason, which is really unlike me... SPOILER. i was so sad about louis's grandma. she was one of my favorite grandmothers (alongside yoo hye jung's grandmother in doctors) and chaebols.

Louis is such a pathetic, whiny, good-for-nothing wuss. Couldn't stop an old lady from running away. Got beat up by high school girls. Whines about everything. Doesn't get a job. Will watch 2 more. If it's not better, I might watch American TV.

It conveys valuing people in the family related or non related... it has a unique twist in the end ... most of all i love the inserted songs hahaha. I love this! Actors and actresses worth to fit into their roles esp the 2 lead stars... I especially love the part where grandma died and she explain the worth of highheels in her life. Korean Dramas.... oh how I cherish them because of the message they leave in their viewers ... its worth watching!

davewp Apr 23 2019 4:30 pm 9/10 from eps 01 to eps 09 is awesome and smart. but why the rest suddenly awkward, annoying, and boring, and awkward again. However, this movie got a special place in me. Many story presented hit straight to my heart. i laugh so hard and then sobbing. LOL. and i don't know why i couldn't get Louie out of my head. The only thing that's always bugged me is the main actor that play Go-Bok-Sil always unable to cry at the most critical moments. Many scene's that supposed to be the blockbuster scene becomes dull like nothing happen. And then when she finally cry, it's obvious that she is acting. LOL. i don't know, maybe just me.

Miss T Apr 23 2019 4:26 am The best actor for me hand down was Yoon Sung Hyun. His character was just so cute and that clearing of the throat by the end of it i was doing it togetheir with him. The story was a bit slow for me on some parts and the villian didnt really threathen his position, makes it feel like there are no really evil pple in the world and everyone just loved Louis which i think is unrealistic. But an okay watch but not that great.

I even overlooked the fact that they still weren't asking the obvious questions about the uncle (or whoever he is that caused this all to begin with) and his daughter not recognizing Louis each time they saw him but episode 12 ridiculous storyline just flipped what was a pretty enjoyable drama, into a really really dumb drama.

Seo in Guk is pretty talented and fun to watch. Half of this drama is otherwise rubbish.

The main guy acted like a over sized baby and treated the girl like a housemaid. Was hoping for a character development but that hardly happened.

-Who is the person Mr.Kim is talking to when his looking for Louie?

-They made Ma Ri a shallow person I was hoping she would have a character redemption like apologizing to Bok-Sil's and return her Mom's Dress.

-Why does Ms.Hong have a stalker???

-I was rooting for In-Sung & Bak-Nam I wish the writer made their characters a better person. I also notice Bak-Nam is not present during Mr.Kim's wedding?

-I was also disappointed with Bok-Sil for not studying I mean she can do that while working.

-Lastly I really taught Louie would propose in the last episode, I understand his grieving but he was making subtle hint. BUT I DIDN'T HAPPEN SOMEONE MAKE A SEASON 2 AND MAKE IT HAPPEN!!!

Also I like to point out there is a lot of easter egg in this Drama like Louie's toy collection, disney reference, also the outfit in Kill Bill & Jang Geum reference.

You will learn a lot of lesson in life, just be prepare in episode 15 someone will die and I really cried a lot Why did that person have to die? I won't spoil anything please this is definitely worth watching!!!

The only thing that annoyed me is the skin color of Ko Bok-Sil the make-up department over did it.

Seo In-Guk's acting was DAEBAK!!! I was literally speechless that he can Sing more reasons to be head over hills with him. I hope we will see more of him, the Bromance between him and Oh Dae-Hwan was cute I would not be surprise since they work well together in Squad 38.

Am really jealous with Ko Bok-Sil the romance was so sweet nothing too fancy, thier chemistry was so genuine that makes my heart flutter all the time. Yoon Sang-Hyun was also funny and the cameo part of Aji-3 I mean Chae Soo-Bin was unforgettable too.

louis Dec 22 2017 11:19 am SHOPAHOLIC LOUIS DRAMA JINJJA JJANG ! ottokae this drama is really just such an amazing romcom drama i've ever seen . i just finished watch the entire episodes and i really fell in love with the main couple and i cant over with their cuteness . every episode made my heart flutter and kept me smiling everytime i watch it . i just cant get this drama out of my mind . the plot is seriously mind blowing and a lot of suprise and suspend !!!! the ost also daebak ! i really like tiger moth by monsta x . heol this is seriously the best drama and highly recommended ! i really hope there's part 2 of this drama ! louis-ya saranghae

Idrk about NJH cause she’s not my fav actress, but in this drama he’s acting was good and cute too. SIG always impressed me! First noticed him in Love Rain drama, starring Jang Geun Seok. He was as a supporting actor in that drama, and it was his first debuted too but he nailed it! Shopping King Louis is a drama worth to watch, the stroryline and all characters was perfect! My precious! :D

The story is the best you'll learn something and there are surprises. Im super inlove with this. The chemistry between bok shil and louis is superb. So much loveeee.

Fade Jul 21 2017 3:01 am I just can't hold my tears... The story flows beautifully.. I watched Suspicious Partner first then I watch this drama for seeing Nam Ji Hyun. She is just so cute and she is just so perfect for her roles in both dramas.. This drama really give me something to think about.. The osts are too awesome.. It gave me more reason to cry.. Waaah.. I can't believe my eyes. I can't stop thinking this drama. This is more than awesome. The story is great and not so heavy.. Which is I love... I hate that they finished the drama without Louie and Bok Sil married.. I can't explain.. I don't watch high rating and really popular dramas such as DotS, The K2, Goblin, The Heirs, etc. But this one is undoubtedly becoming the best drama I watch so far.. I hate the ost keeps ringing on my head, I hate that some scenes I can't forget.. Just too much for meee. I'm not mind seeing them again. :v in this drama. I hope this drama have no end

Chia Jul 02 2017 12:27 pm I love this drama, but I came to write a comment that I really like how President Baek built up his character over the drama. I think he must have done great character work beforehand. Because even though he is the bad guy, you can't really plainly hate him like in other dramas. I felt really bad for him on many occasions, and I could really tell that he didn't want this to happen the way it happened. He is not playing a bad guy, but a person that lost his way and made mistakes he didn't know how to get out of anymore. But you can tell he's not originally a bad person. That's what I really like. Great work done! I generally like the actors way of interpreting their roles and how they played them, it's really all going well together.

Sunbeam Jan 11 2017 2:19 am Did any one notice in Ep 12 -- Nam Myung-Ryul, Cha Joong-Won's father's hair went from sandy brown to black? He was in Happy Home with white hair and he looked better. But he had alot of botox for this show.

This show was the best - just a fun laugh out loud drama. All the actors were great and just loved all of it. A very pleasant and relaxing fun show to watch. Hated to see this show end. When Ep 16 came on and it said "It was the Last Show," I said "What!!!" It went by soo fast

I thought Louis and Bok-Sil were a great couple. Thought they worked well together.

I really like Kim Young-Ok. She is in alot of shows and does a fantastic acting performance in all of them.

Congratulations to the entire cast and producers, writers, the whole staff. This show should have gotten more awards.

Liz Jan 09 2017 9:52 am I am not the type of k-drama fan who posts opinions online. But I can't not say this. Shopping King Louis is one of the best romcoms. This is soooo underrated. It's a breath of fresh air for ongoing heavy dramas. It doesn't need HD effects for me to love the story as well as the stars. Well, rating sucks but I love this show regardless of its low ratings. Good thing Seo In Guk won at MBC Awards. He's one of the best actors in his generation (don't start me with his singing voice. Can't help to fall in love with this guy. ?) More projects to come. Fighting!

Sunday Nov 30 2016 4:18 pm I just finished this drama and I cried tears of happiness in the last episode. Every other minute had a funny scene. I give this drama a 10/10 because it's so heartfelt, sweet, meaningful, and hilarious. That scene with In Sung in his house, after he had that accident in Ma Ri's car, was hilarious. I laughed so much I cried. They should have shown what happened with In sung and Ma Ri but I guess they never ended up together? And they should have extended Mr. Cha's and Wang Mong Shil's relationship. Lol. But nonetheless I still LOVE this drama. Louis was so sweet.

Louie and bokshil is just cute and they complete each other. Louis is not that strong but still have charms and good qualities and bok shil is an angel without wings like how stated in ep 16. She is forgiving, sweet, pure heart. I have to say that the osts mostly jang Jane's , juniel, umji, sunbee ugh I mean all. They have peace, excitement, sad and happy type songs in this. And the background songs, mostly if not mistaken episode 2 where louis and bokshil was at the bathhouse. They used Aladin's song and shows how louie and bokshil enjoyed in the bath house. but not naked. It was in the sauna, then louie went swimming.. I cant move on from this drama but I am going to watch again while hearing the osts. Kuddos to the rookie director <3

But its turn out, this isn't ordinary drama that can be predicted easily. Every episode has unexpected plot twist, also there's always funny, and sweet moments. And at the end, this drama is worth to watch. I didn't imagine will be so attached with the character and the storyline. But i just did. I'll remember their story for a long time i guess.

Ji-Hyun is a dynamic, sunny, creative and versatile actress in her previous dramas. But here she has to contend with a shallow screenplay, a superficial director and a male partner caught into a repetitive one-track view of his "Louis the Shopping King" character. Seo In-guk (and his director) could have made Louis grow and mature in the later episodes of the drama. They do not.

There are very good moments, especially the early episodes when Kang Ji-Sung (Louis) suffers from amnesia and Ko Bok-Sil  cannot stand the thought of abandoning him to his fate.  But Nam Ji-Hyun could not pull the entire drama all by herself. I could not stick with the entire 16 episodes...

It had all the elements that make up an excellent drama. I was so happy every week and this drama made me laugh all the time. This is a hidden gem that you should watch. Their love was something you can actually feel while watching the drama and it made my heart feel so good inside just by watching them building that confidence and love. I love the way he looked at her like she was the only thing that mattered to him in the world. How he hugged her whenever he felt the need to do it and how he waited for her everyday. I was expecting a bit more of the ending, but I cant complain about it because they were together and happy and they had each other. It was a beautiful story that I will never forget. This drama will stay with me for a loooong time

It also made me like Seo In Guk (this is the first drama that i saw him in so i watched his other drama, Master's Sun) He's so cute and adorable in portraying Louis.

I'm sad when his grandma passed away :( I have also mixed emotions on the theater scene! That was so sweet and touching and sad at the same time.. T_T!

Jo In sung is my second favorite character. He's so funny and im kinda jealous on his bromance with Louis :) I can't help to wonder if he were able to snag Ma Ri, since he declared to himself that he will pursue her and will give his all no matter what.

I also love the fact that Mr. Cha found another "Bok Sil" lol. I guess, he has a thing for countryside girls since he lived in the city. Oh, and I love the fact that it is Chae Soo-Bin.. She's so gorg! I liked her in MDBC.

I like how it ended, the villain, Mr. Baek, turned himself in and asked for their forgiveness.. thank you writers for not making the story much more complicated :)

I was also wondering on the ending scene were Bok Sil and Louis kissed. Did "something" finally happened and they took their relationship to the next level (Physically) or they just turn off the lights to sleep? lol Bok Nam wasn't there so....

FINAL VERDICT: EVERYONE SHOULD GIVE THIS A TRY , IT'S WORTH IT! :)

And yes, i read smewhere that the reason this drama is loved by all is the atmosphere and spirit energy of the cast. Because even the story is normal but we love it. Writer is also incredible ♡

Louis XXV Nov 10 2016 9:44 am Firstly, this drama really lifts my spirits up with all the comedy scenes especially when Louis, Cha Joong Won and Insung are all together. Also, the CUTE romantic yet innocent scenes from Bok Sil and Louis are just too adorable and also when Louis always gives that pitiful face after he commits a mistake/sin.

The bromance in this show is also hilarious yet bonded. It seems like Joong Won is a cold guy but he is actually very caring and warm too, also FUNNY.

I must also say that even the bad characters are funny yet stupid in their own way HAHAHA.

REALLY A GREAT DRAMA TO RECOMMEND to laugh your hearts out. (Seo In Guk is SOOOOO CUTEE plus he's singing <3) It's such a pity that this drama is ending soon. :-(

Mostly the part in episode 13 where Louies grandmother was crying of happiness when Louis was singing THE MOMENT. She is happy when she saw everybody was there when before the house is silent. And Seo In Guk nailed his acting and singing skills. He is definitely the best korean actor. ♡♡

They've probably seen so much of the same typical romance dramas that they figured this drama would be the exact same, but it's far from it. Its funny but also cute at the same time and the characters chemistry just makes me want to keep on watching. Plus the music is great. I really hope this drama gets more views!

He is so innocent, ordering people but still help them, give them stars and after recovering, he give the ahjumma full building, his friend a job.

That Louie is living with Bok Sil for quite some time, he is more of an adult, he knew already how hard it is to live with someone who is poor and has no luxuries in life. If he has a good heart he should pity Bok Sil and the other people around him. He keeps on pestering people and trying to be a burden to them acting like he own them.. lol..!There are some situations that are impossible, Writer trying to make this drama a comedy but scenes are out of the line. I have watched till episode 8 because I saved all in my laptop and really i gave it a try and wanted to see if there would be changes but sadly this drama is hopeless. Now I erased the last few Eps saved. Yes, my fault, why I wasted my time. Non sense drama!I have my opinion sorry, we need to respect, this is not my cup of tea, more than below mediocre too shallow. I love it a lot and looking forward to it. It must be very hard for lois to adapt in different situation after the amnesia. Having maids and luxuries around him since small I am sure I will also not get to be comfortable living in a hard life eventhough having amnesia. Love Bok shil character also . She is strong, happy,lovely and thoughtful. I am giving 10/10 for this drama hehehehh

Having amnesia dosent mean you will forget the 20-30 years habit in just one/two months. Bok shil's character shows pureness,loving,forgiving and caring. This drama is beautiful where two opposites meet. Honestly, thos year for me this the best rom com. You can also watch the intense preview every week. I like that because it is unpredictable not like some dramas that we can predict what will happen. My heart always thumps when I watch it plus with Monsta X's song Tiger Moth. It give me the feels:) And Seo in guk, namjihyun,mr cha (i dont know the name) they are great actors too.

rheina Oct 29 2016 1:43 am why the hate? personally, i think the characters' personality are depicted correctly. i love the cuteness, innocent, guilt-free louis character that in-guk brought, it tells us the story on how he was being raised. bokshil character is also spot-on, too kind, too forgiving, just like she was described in the drama early-on. the storyline is light, heartwarming, funny, perfect for those who want to watch drama to have fun.

u might think that a plot that has amnesia on it is so boring, but give it a try and prepared to be surprised :)

Est Oct 28 2016 2:00 pm @Nial, I know there are lots of fantastic korean dramas. I myself have watched countless of amazing korean dramas that includes Reply 1997 which Seo in guk acted in and many others but I can't get my head around his Louis character in the one.

Regardless of whether Louis was used to a chabeol life, let's not forget that a sane responsible man should sit his ass up as soon as he finds himself in a difficult situation let alone someone that has amnesia and can't even remember his past life but instead of being grateful for the kindness of people around him, he finds it worthy to be commanding the same people that feeds him like a king, just because he thought he might have been rich before his amnesia.

He wouldn't even help around the house but feels so self entitled to peoples' money and their things. The facts that people are even pandering to him, even when he lavishly spent the girl's hard earned money which doesn't belong to him in the first place, makes it much more worse! What nonsense! The character is just too awful, I can't get my head around it.

What gave Louis the right to even hit Jungwon in the village is one thing I don't understand? Or the way he kept directing people all around like a self entitled princess and the fact that he won't even lift his hand to do anything yet feels he's entitled to peoples' properties?

God knows I can't be patient with such person around me. One character I hate most is a Chaebol, not to talk of a irritating useless one.

I watched the First episode without expectations, without even reading the sypnosis or plot and without knowing who the characters are. But boy, i didnt expect to love it! Watching the series and the characters interact with each other is so refreshing.. Love Seo in guk playing a rich kid with amnesia, he's like a kid in there and love bok shil's face.. I also love Jo In Sung and his Mom. When they were all together, they look like a family :)

This drama got me hooked up from the first episode, Its so light and funny , great to watch if youre stressed in your life or work.

And whenever Louis and Bok shil got romantically excited, it makes me laugh because they are so cute.. Like what Jo In Sung said, "Its good to be young and inlove"

I recommended it to my office mate and now she was hooked as well!

As someone said on the comments below, this drama is like a HIDDEN GEM in Kdrama land.. I hope it will be recognized more internationally.

The sad thing about it is that it only has 16 episodes and the end is near :(

It started of as a pastime but quickly turned into my main Kdrama of the week. One can not describe just how heartwarming and well-written it is. EVERYTHING about it is lovable. You just have to get over the first episode or so and BOOM YOU'RE IN LOVE. If you're thinking whether to start it or not stop wasting time and just GO WATCH IT. P.S Sorry for the caps I'm just really emotionally attached to this drama.

Only thing is that the ratings for this drama are low. I hope more and more people watch this drama bcz it is better than the other Kdrama which have high ratings than this show

I understand Bok Shil, since she has been looking after someone, who might have died if Bok Nam hadn't done the switch. But then again, that may not be true either.

Best thing about this kind of drama is that there won't be a sad ending, so even if they fight now, they will eventually get back together. So not gonna cry over their breakup.

This is the first time I am watching Nam Ji Hyun. She's very good. SIG and NJH made a good pair, well matched.

At first, i thought it was boring, i tried few times to watch it but yesterday i started watching this seriously and it was soo funny and good. Though Nam Ji hyun might not the prettiest actress but her character here makes her charming. This is definitely a MUST-WATCH drama for you guys out there who doubt about this drama. Enjoy guys!!

Seo in guk is really effective in portraying this role, 100% adorable. Nam ji hyun on the other hand, also fits her character to a tee. I think her eyes convey the innocence and kindness that is ko bok shil. I hope it gets more love from the ratings game,
