Han Seung-Joo (Uee) is a single woman in her mid 30's and she works as a PD at a broadcasting station. She does well at her job, but she is not nearly as good when it comes to housework. Han Seung-Joo has a hard time dealing with social prejudices about single women. To get the position of a "married woman," Han Seung-Joo marries Oh Jak-Doo (Kim Kang-Woo) who lives in the mountain. Their marriage is not based on love, but their relationship develops romantically.

Ciepao Jun 25 2023 10:37 am I freaking love this drama! The past dramas I have watched have had a basic and dull romance, but this one is different!

I'll start my review with what I loved the most about this show, and the second is what I hate.

What do I like about this drama? The main leads, of course! They have a cute and lovely chemistry, and I live for their every interaction. Their need for each other is so endearing. Although some of it is cringe-worthy, it is surprising that it is not awkward. I love that they still keep Han Seung Joo (Uee) a strong woman instead of relying on her husband. I like the female lead's friendship and how she handles the men around her who think she's weak. It is so sad that women in Korea actually face these kinds of problems.

Now let's start with what I don't like about this show. Even though I like a lot of the characters in this drama, I also hate a lot of them. The family of the female lead is too much; I get annoyed every time they are on screen. And when will K-drama producers stop giving and putting a random man who always wants to kill the main lead in a romance show? Also, I love Uee, but the way they style her here is so ugly. Her clothes don't give her justice! She's the main lead, but the other female characters have better fashion and clothing than her.

I also agree with some reviews that 24 episodes are too much. I like this show, but let's be real, there are just too many filler and unnecessary scenes. This could have ended in the 16th or 18th episode without the dragging.

Overall, I still liked it, and I believe that this is recommendable. I rate this show a 9/10! Hoping to see Kim Kang Woo more in dramas!

The problem with me how is can the little brother be Seung Joo, be her younger brother and his girlfriend is playing as a younger sister. I understand her big brother is 11 years older than she is. We know that in some countries a full grown man is married to a girl who younger than a 13 years old girl.

Seung Joo, the breadwinner in her family, she was not living in the same with her mother and brother. She had lousy job, her boss really used her.

I really did not understand the movie.

The people in the they very abusive toward Uee in this movie. Who ever the director or who ever wrote this movie,they did very a poor job. I like Uee, when she was in Night Light, some of clothes I did not like. She is a cute girl , the people did the movie, should have done a better job on Uee's hair. Her clothes were ok, it wad her hair.

TQ scriptwriters & the whole of production team! I enjoyed everything about this movie. Kim Kang Woo & Uee played their part well, good chemistry too. Kim Kang Woo and Uee really potrayed their character so well. They are madly in love with each other that they accept eact other flaws. As i watch the drama i was moves by their acting and i get to feel many emotions while watching it. The sad, the happy and warm even the thrill moment. You can feel the emotion that they tried to showed viewer. Good drama good job!!

In fairness to ueee she also pulled off her character, great acting also from her for this drama.. oh the 2nd male.lead jung sang hoon.. he is so effectuve of his character here... he really made this drama hilarious.. overall this drama was well written and executed.

zombie Jul 20 2018 6:48 am dumped this drama by epi 13 usually when i dump a drama almost never pass the 5th epi i dont know why this lasted that long the storyline was difficult to understand was the writer bad or the translator missed all the clues and didnt know what was he was doing the actors were all awfull for me with only one exception han sun hwa all the rest i dont want to see them in my next drama i saw uee in ojakgyo brothers i dumped this drama by halfway too didnt like her at all the ratings are poor going up and down like crazy which means probably many people dumped it along the way sorry for the negative comments i will never recommend this drama

Kim Kang Woo who i got to discover in this drama did a great job in his interpretation of Oh Jak Doo as a country bumpkin.. OJD is my ideal husband.. He is very protective and loving husband.. Also its my first time to watch UEE.. As usual Jung Sung Hoon is funny as Eric Cho. I hope Kim Kang Woo will do more dramas of this genre .

He look so perfect in suits i wonder if he can be given a role of a rich boyfriend or biz tycoon in his next project. :)) its hard to move on to the next kdrama, i still can rmbr their heartwarming hugs and lovable kisses. Such a perfect chemistry between uee n kkw!

TYREZ PIXLEY May 31 2018 10:54 pm I give this drama a 8.5 I'm a fan of a few cast member but I've became a fan of Kim Kang-Woo I'm going to look into his other works; Uee was adorable she did a great job in this drama glad she picked up weight in manhole she looked like a stick. Episode wise this drama was too long could've been 16 eps however story great it didn't drag out problems IE the antagonist getting his just desserts in a timely manner the only problem I found with this drama IMO its not a big deal butwas the OST it didn't stand out too much but other than that it was a great watch.

He doesn’t deserve all the stress caused by the main leads. Even he started it all, but he’s still a good person.

But Uee change alot.. she looks so bright and beautiful again. the story line is refreshing... strong woman turns into soft and lovely person in front of his lovelife :) Kim Kang-Woo is such a good actor so no doubt that he will deliver his character properly and chemistry is there.. love is hard. :) kuddos to the second leads. congratulations. Recommended!!!!

Examination May 10 2018 11:49 am I'm glad that i watch this drama. This kind of drama ia such a rare material to be seen in K-Dramaland. The plot is intriguing. It makes me unable to wait for a week to watch its continuation. Moreover, it has a stable pace which is rare for a kdrama. The more you watch it, the more you get addicted. All the casts have done a great job. I'm relieved that the previous actresses rejected the offer because i can see hat Uee has done a great job and she's the most suitable for the character. The male lead and others impress me too. The only thing that i dislike is the loser brother and the mother of the female lead.

There are several plot holes indeed, but they don't affect the drama significantly, so it's still enjoyable. For me who have been bored by K-Drama for over a year, it's an interesting and a good drama.

It is sad that this drama is broadcasted only on Saturdays, I really can't wait to watch next episodes. This is my first Uee's drama that I am watching, I can see many are commenting on her acting but I can't can't understand why. I mean I have watched over 50 of kdrama and I can surely say that she is among the best of the Korean actress I had seen. I mean she is so cute and beautiful, and at the same time when she acts like a tough person she looks completely different. Looking forward for more of Uee's drama.

I couldn't finish Manhole because the story and characters were lacking depth but I'm loving her character, very kind and hardworking. As for Kim Kang Woo, wow he's freaking handsome and such an amazing actor. I first saw him in the movie, The Treacherous. The cast chemistry is real and I love it. Wish Sunhwa character can have some fun too and more lovey dover scene.

I like Uee from K pop group After School and Han Sun Hwa from Binggoo; plus supporting Kim Kang Woo from King Entertainment so I thought I would pop in and have a 5mins peep into the 1st episode and whaddya mean.....I'm HOOKED now and this is just what the Doctor ordered. I'm staying put and will binge the other 5 episodes in one hit. Very happy I've found this! What a score ❤️

Never really fancied Uee but she is really good here. Her acting is spot on and very moving. I am liking the main male lead too. He is someone who grows on you and I find him to be extremely charming. Really worth watching.

I've never heard of Kim Kang Woo before (pardon me) but he managed to steal my heart as Oh Hyuk/ Oh Jak Do. No matter how cliche the drama is, it still has its own style and uniqueness. At least it's show UEE better than her character in Manholes, perhaps lacks of chemistry with Jared Joong.Kim Kang Who again proves he is not disappointing.Gosh at 40, he still handsome and just look in his thirties. Kim Kang Woo Oppa and Queen Uee fighting..

giving it a try Mar 09 2018 7:13 pm I came here cause I wanted to watch kim kang woo. The first few minutes, Uee sounded so annoying and i literally coudnt take her face change. Well, there ends the sad story. The plot is not some drop from the sky bomb, but fine enough to keep you looking forward for next episode. And the drama doesnt bad mouth being a single lady, nope. It only shows how you get treated when your one.If your not one from asian countries be prepared for a culture shock because as an asian and a single lady I had those situations in my face except for being a target of a murderer. If you guys do not understand why she wants to get married to him, you should rewatch first 2 ep's again and remember, a drama has a bit of imagination not everyday monotonous life.

If you get divorced or become a widow, if you are an orphan or a single woman with a child you are ostracized. Too much emphasis placed on being single. Now she will marry a man she doesn't even know, and he could be a murderer.

What's wrong with a single woman? if she's easily targeted by bad guys/criminal still make sense, but the scene when her friend's husband scolded her coz his wife hang out with her (a single woman) till night was really too exaggerated & really nonsense! that's not like that in real life!

cathy Jan 21 2018 12:45 pm I'm okay with Uee tho i wish to see her more in light/romcom drama like Manhole & Hogu's Love or Mon/Tue, Wed/Thurs drama than weekend drama (melo, sad, stressful, makjang, ahjussi/ahjumma/grandpa/granny drama, very long eps kinda boring). This pairing is fine, hope the plot will be good & it's not 50 eps.. Tho weekend drama usually get good ratings but 50 eps are really too much, better watching week day drama with low/average rating

Been anticipating for Kim Kang Woo's comeback drama since his powerful acting in Goodbye Mr. Black (luv that drama tho i envisioned a better plotline) . I've also watched Uee in Marriage Contract and Manhole. MC was seriously hearwrenching and nicely-done drama and i think Uee's acting in it was so damn good. Manhole on the other hand though, the drama sucked pretty badly but Uee's acting was nice (not really a challenging role, compared to MC). I can't wait for this. I hope it won't be 50 eps tho
