Gil Soo-Hyun (Kim Kang-Woo) is extremely intelligent. At the age of 10, Gil Soo-Hyun attended Harvard University. After graduating there, he decided to work at the FBI and worked there for 10 years. Afterwards, he decided to come back to South Korea. He now works as the leader of the Special Missing Persons Unit. The unit deals with about 1% of special missing cases involving violent crimes. His appearance borders on perfection, but he holds a secret.

Detective Oh Dae-Young (Park Hee-Soon) joins the Special Missing Persons Unit. He has worked as a detective for 20 years and he has an obsession in observing the law. He is known as a master of missing person cases.

Notes

"Special Missing Persons Unit M" takes over OCN's Saturdays 23:00 time slot previously occupied by "Bad Guys" and followed by "My Beautiful Bride" on June 20, 2015.

Feelings Sep 05 2019 11:22 pm I hope someone will start a Petition for Season 2 cause this Drama seriously needs it I was annoyed with Oh Dae-Young at first but he doesn't deserve to end up that way. Everything Bad things happened since Ep 07 & 10 was all Park Jung-Do fault if he didn't put a seed of doubt on Dae-Young things would be different, seeing how he was being manipulated by Moon Jung-Wook the old hag ahjussi made me blame him for the things that happened with Dae-Yound. There is a lot of unsolved issues with Gil Soo past & also I need answers if he has a crush on Jin.

k92 Jun 21 2019 9:20 am Just completed this series and on the process of searching the whole internet for a season 2 news. Sadly, I have yet to find one. Nevertheless, this series was good as it was addicting. As it says, all their cases belongs to the 1% of cases being unsolved. The actor's skills in portraying there designated role was excellent. In regards to solving cases, it was quit unique, in depth and surprising. As the turn of events got me hooked, I didn't realized I was already watching the ending. Sad to say, it was not (at all) justified. So, here I am looking for that continuation.

Bel Jun 25 2018 10:27 am Seriously one of the best crime Kdramas out there! Too underrated. If you like Signal and Tunnel, you'll like Missing Noir M. Well written, finely plotting, the show is gripping and intense, with twists you never see coming. The show was compelling from the first episode to the last, and the main characters as well as many of the supporting guest characters are probably some of the best actors in South Korea today. I recommend it.

Was surprised that season 1 had low rating... one reason might be its too dark... wished their efforts to find those who were missing and to catch the bad guys had ended up with more positive fruits to add little more hope and light in this dark world.

lala Jun 22 2017 10:50 am Glad I've stumbled upon this in tvn channel.....it was beautiful and engagingly put......every episode was carefully thought out.....I agree with everyone down below.... it was like watching CSI and Mentalist in korean version.....the actors were good too..... both the main and supporting cast ...glad the scriptwriter didnt end it sloppily ...would have been nice if there were season 2 with the cast still the same...... two thumbs up......

Kat Jan 31 2017 12:43 pm definitely one of the most interesting and intriguing dramas when it comes to mystery/ suspense and crime topic among korean drama. suspense, mystery, riddles and ambiguity are easily found in each episode. the main cast as well as additional ones did really great job in presenting the feelings, emotions and crime. worth watching but its really pity its only 10 episodes. i hope they will do season 2 as it would be interesting to see what can happen next and how they would lead the plot.

the last episode reminded me about unfair drama (Japanese - also worth seeing) and the main motto: the answer to unfair is unfair... both dramas even though fictional show really good perspective and opinion about our world and society - those with money and power can do more and justice, rightnousness & humanity decrease in value...

This drama is sadly underrated, but it definitely goes in first place with thriller/suspense/crime it has. The only downfall on this drama is how there's only 10 episodes. Really?? The plot is so unique and impactful and it brings back memories from when I watched CSI and The Mentalist. I highly suggest you watch this drama if you're into unpredictable cases and if you enjoy analyzing how every piece of a case fits together.

Ginsang Jan 15 2017 7:28 am Wow...just wow! This is a refreshing transition from the overused romance-tragedy-drama series that have been flooding the Korean entertainment industry. I thought such high quality crime-thrillers from Korea were only limited to movies- I take that back.

This not one of those cheesy, cliched, run-of-the-mill drama's that you normally associate with Korean Tv Series offerings. If you are looking for the best crime/thriller/drama from Korea. this is the one for you. I recommend it to any fan of Crim/murder/thriller series. This series is on par with other similar series like CSI, Dexter, NCIS, Bones, and others.

Highly recommended, you will not be disappointed. Season one is over and I a left wanting more. I hope OCN has plans for another season this year (judging from the way the season finale ended). Otherwise, I will be very disappointed.

rome Jan 10 2017 7:58 am After all the mystery/crime dramas I've watched, I must say this drama is the only one that got me guessing wronly, re-watching and reading recaps just to finally allow me to say "oh yeah that actually makes sense and how could i have missed that?" Ep 7 (HOME) is definitely one of the best cases out there, mystery with much heart. It made me reminisce earlier seasons of CSI when Gil Grissom was still on it. This is definitely a must watch!

In case anyone else are also looking for dramas of the same genre i highly recommend - korean: i remember you(hello monster), signal, bad guys, special affairs team 10, you're all surrounded, gap dong, mrs cop, vampire detective, vampire prosecutor, the partner chinese: love me if you dare, when a snail falls in love

jin Dec 24 2016 2:19 am As an avid romance viewer, this show was very unexpected. I do like mystery dramas with plot twists, but I had an impression that it would be very generic.

I was proven wrong--this is one of the best--if not THE best kdrama I've watched (and I've seen at least 100 series at this point). My criticisms is that some cases had unnecessary details that weren't interesting, especially in the middle of this series.

The ending was brilliant. Full of plot twists, and leaving off with a cliffhanger. I doubt this will get a second season, but it lets viewers create their own ending pertaining to the characters. Definitely a underrated

LKB Oct 19 2016 5:14 am I hope a second season picks up where this one left us hanging a bit--it isn't always bad to finish without resolution but ep 10 was a bit all over the place, almost like it was going to be 12 but got shortened. Every episode felt like watching real people, not characters, which says a lot about the writing AND acting... especially the main trio (the leader Park Jung Do is the only one who really just felt like a character there to give lines as segues between scenes, him and the autopsy specialist Joo Young)... The nice thing about such a small main ensemble is that making a second season only HAS to have the trio, SHOULD have (but he could retire and be replaced as happens often with second seasons) their coordinator, and obviously the prosecutor in the last episode would, if they pick up and destroy him ideally, be there, too...

[SPOILER WARNING] Still, Park Hee Soon got the worst ending--wife missing, maybe dead, with child, killing someone via excessive force, probable badge loss/ruined career, pathway to alcohol via guilt, etc... and the lead prosecutor got his wish, the guy who had something on him dead... geesh.

friskila Apr 09 2016 6:48 am I just finished watching this drama. I think this is good drama, the cases are interesting. The last episode did seem to hang its story as there will be a sequel. Hopefully there will be Season 2. Many things that made me curious. This drama reminds me of other OCN drama titled Special Affairs Team TEN. For now I think Special Affairs Team TEN is better than Missing Noir M.

Just tonight I discovered it actually action thriller suspense Detective Crime drama..I love this genre..Just start to watch...Impressed by Kang Haneul performance.. Usually I watch Him as main or second lead..but For the first time watching him for serial killer character.. It quite refreshing... Haha..He act so well..Will come again after finishing the drama..it quite sad to see it only consist 10 episodes..wish it 16 or 20 ... ^^

MNM fans Aug 11 2015 9:54 pm @sienny, i think Joseph Joo didn't know that the one who killed his mother is Kim Seok-Jin's uncle, Kim Seok-Gyu. Joseph Joo already knew that Kim Seok-Jin and his friends did "that bad thing" to her mother, but i think while he was investigating them, he realized that they didn't kill her mother and they are not the one who steal her mother's money. That's why he take Lee Jung-Soo's sister as bait and killed Kim Seok-Jin and his friends by leaving some clues, He want the police trace his mother case deeper than what he has done and he Know Gil Soo-Hyun is a great detective who can help him to find the boss of all this. ^_^

Sienny Aug 11 2015 8:52 pm I get a little confuse here, why exactly that joseph joo commiting crime after 15 years has passed, he can get revenge once he knew her mother was missing and killed maybe not right away cause he needs to do investigation first to find who the killer was, And why does he want the police to know who is the killer of her mother while he want to kill the killer himself ? nomi Aug 09 2015 9:42 pm It was quite an impressive drama to date.I have just finished it yesterday.One has to admit that the script was strong and the way all the cast pour their abilities in it was just icing to the cake. The ending was quite unbelievable too. It was my first drama of kim kang woo and his acting was superb. He proved that one can act well without some ''monkey kong action''.

Park hee soon was also quite brilliant in his role as well as the female lead jo bo ha. The ending was satisfactory as well.It was a kind of open ending and still there is room left for more. If only they can make the second season with same cast, i hope it will be as good as this one.

 OCN makes a few dramas in a year but they always take unique projects so i always wait for their upcoming projects.

My rating will be for this one: Story: 9 OSt: 8 Rewatch value: 7

Daniel Jul 31 2015 3:27 am This is one of the best investigation drama that I had watch to date. You will expect a lot of "holes" in the script but I was wrong it was just perfect!

After each episode we will see the character development 3 of our main cast and the darker side story (past) of them. The transparency of the drama (talk about the disgusting corpse which most of the director not willing to shown on screen at such detailed manner) is just deabak. The most exciting part is the moment those murder/case is solved you would never expect the twist and turn of it.

And oh not to mention that the OST is good too.

Looking forward for season 2.

jan Jun 25 2015 1:10 pm very nice drama. characters were played very well by the actors. screenplay is superb. conflicts were well defined. only, the ending won't be great if ocn won't make a season 2 for the reason of making it with loose ends such as the undetermined whereabouts of det, oh's wife, det. oh not knowing who the high in rank person who is above the law that james was referring to and actually got away with his evil deeds, what debt was chief park inciting that was paid for when they recruited james and why did they end the drama with the message that the person james was looking for has been found. these are loose ends that a season 2 might just be in the bag. just saying.

I especially liked the way they included the L.A. riots backstory affecting the lead detective, since many Koreans were harassed during that time. Even in American dramas, it's not a story that gets a lot of attention outside of documentaries. I'm really grateful to have been introduced to the two lead actors through this show. Can't wait to see more:)

It is a little on the darker side and it gets more extreme after half of the drama. If you like an exciting crime drama full of suspense, mystery and human suffering with a handsome and overly intelligent protagonist who carries some deep wounds in his heart, this will be perfect for you.

(And don´t stop after the 2nd ep., because the drama can only be evaluated after about 4 eps. that is my opinion :D)

ahloon May 06 2015 9:29 am that's OCN style, they always finish a drama within 10-13 episodes... if you like korean crime drama, then you should check on with OCN dramas~ from Vampire Prosecutor, God's Quiz, to Ten (so far, that's the 3 I have watched), all of them finished within 12 episodes, but the good thing is they will most likely continue it with another season (God's quiz-4 seasons, Vampire Prosecutor-2 seasons, Ten-2 seasons)~ however if you wish to watch romance storyline, then I will advice you not to watch so... they do have some romance chemistry (especially in God's quiz), but they wouldn't focus on it... I'm so pulled over even only after watching the 1st 2 episodes, but at the same time, I'm quite worry as well because the setting of each character and the flow is much like Ten, which mean it is unlikely that they going to have Ten 3, at least not within this year :(

Joann Apr 17 2015 9:31 pm I've been watching K drama since 2007 and this one is amazing. The storyline is convoluted but not so much that you can't follow along. It's refreshing to be mesmerized by a drama that doesn't include the typical drama fare. The lead actors are not only eye candy but they deliver a great performance based on what I've seen so far. I wonder that they are only producing 10 episodes though. The writers are on a roll ... they need to keep up the good work and opt for additional episodes. I'm a fan and I hope that Korean dramas will have more mystery/crime based shows in the future. In the US we have plenty of these shows but this one gives them a run for their money for sure. Daebak!

Elle Apr 14 2015 3:40 am Only on episode one and it's already got me on the edge of my seat. This is as close as k-dramas can get to the American tv shows I follow (CSI, Hannibal, Criminal Minds, etc.) so how this drama continues is exciting. The lead actors have such great chemistry and the storyline is detailed; it keeps you guessing and makes you backtrack to see what you've missed... which is the mark of a good crime-centric tv show.

HS KL Apr 11 2015 8:11 pm This is the first time I am watching Kim Kang Woo & Park Hee Soon. They are both very good actors. This drama is refreshing in that it does not require a female lead. It is interesting to watch both KIm & Park making such a strong presence.that romance is not needed to keep the viewers entertained.

A suspense/thriller drama like this should have at least 16 eps! The story/plot and the actors are amazing! and it's being broadcast once a week to my dismay... ugh! writers could you please extend this drama as early as now??? Please....

Lena Xiong Jan 03 2015 12:21 am OHH!! This sounds good!! I like the cast!! I Love OCN!! The best were God's Quiz, Vampire Prosecutor and Special Affairs Team Ten. I tried Bad Guys and Dr. Frost but it just doesn't catch my attention like the other 3 OCN's dramas.
