Park Min May 19 2024 2:42 pm It's probably one of the worst non-makjang daily family drama out there. Which is really tough to get this low for a family drama but somehow they did it. You may divide the drama into 3 sections 50 episodes each, the first 50 episodes was a regular family drama with somewhat smooth progression, the second 50 episodes the drama created an impossible predicament, the last 50 episodes everything got out of control in the worst possible way. Not much more to say about the first 1/3, however, the problem it created in the second 1/3 was a big stretch when it comes to creating tension and conflict, it spent the next 100 episodes, including the ending of the drama, without overcoming what it created, what kind of writing is this? The last 1/3, every relationship became extremely complicated and unreasonable. At that point, it was impossible to salvage the drama. Even the female lead became totally irrelevant in the last 1/3. It was blatantly obvious what was happening with the writer, she was extremely disorganized and incoherent after the initial batch of episodes.

zombie Jan 23 2018 7:59 am just finished last epi i can give this drama a 5 out of 10 and thats cuz i got very disappointed with dasom few months earlier i finished sister is alive where dasom was very impressive and liked her very much maybe cuz she played a really bad awful girl perhaps bad roles are better for her and other reason for my low ratings is that concurrently with this drama i was watching dear heaven or love in heaven which was awesome awesome incredibly awsome that i got all exhausted i guess so ididnt have more room for this drama

So lovely i enjoyed. A must watch. Specially all the heart rending parts. Omaga. And.... just lovely. I could not STOP watching. What happens in da end is soooo unexpected and sad but still i like it. I hoped they would get together.. but... its different from other korean stories. ♥ saraghamnida

tharkushi Nov 08 2015 4:02 pm Sincere apologies in advance for the spoilers. After five tiresome days of binge watching this k-drama, I finally reached the ending. I am well attached to the characters so much so that it would take me a few days to let them go. The writers have done a mesmerising job, showing the fans that blood isn't a necessity to become family. The importance lies within how you raise the children rather than who brings them to the world. I loved how the leading couple overcame such gruesome hardships. The romance was beautifully portrayed so much so that I put them in a pedestal. My heart rate was at its extreme when the female lead found out she was adopted and was the daughter of a con man. I empathized with the characters and admired the strong bond the Gong family shared. Especially, I adored Suim's upright personality and how she redeemed her family, being the legitimate lawyer she is. I was simply in love with the way she carried herself. And oh my, don't get me started on her husband, such an understanding soul.

However I did not prefer the many unrealistic coincidences the three families went through. I thought it lessen the value of the concept. Also it made me feel like the writers intended the female lead's character to be a fragile victim. I wished they made her look stronger and not kept her in the dark with all the secrets for so long. It broke my heart to see how she couldn't be there for Hyun Woo as much as he was there for her. For instance, when he found out where his roots came from and when his family was involved in a fraud case.

The biggest disappointment for me was the ending. It was mortifying. I hated how the writers left the couple's destination for the fan's imagination. Maybe its because I had exceptionally high hopes for the couple, I was left in a devastated gasp. In fact, I'm going to sleep, praying to the Good Lord above that the finale be amended accordingly overnight. All in all, it was indeed a beautiful plot and I am grateful for such a production that covers most controversial aspects in life. Now that it ended, allow me to do something rather productive with my life and make my parents proud.

Watch if you just have a lot of free time and absolutely nothing else planned to view. 151 episodes is a lot and it becomes tedious if you try to marathon them to finish. The writer covers every conceivable social issue of family life and business life and throws in a few K drama regular themes. Romance is thin but yelling and frustration dominates the themes. You might try doing a flow chart to follow all of the different story lines intermingled between the families. No spoilers from me -- just remember this is a daily drama and it might be better to treat it that way to truly enjoy it. K drama writers still have a long way to go to finish dramas with memorable moments. This drama was not exceptional in its ending but tolerable.

Truth hurts Aug 18 2015 11:24 pm The main character shouts like a moron, dresses like a whore, farts in public, works nothing all day long, and I am supposed to root for her? No, thank you! The only way to save such a character would've been to hire for the role some actress that looks exactly the opposite, meaning a shy, reserved, and decent looking actress. But no, they hired an idol, which makes things even worse.

upornpan May 07 2015 8:47 am Start from this series on my cable TV, I dig into all of Baek Sung Hyun's movies, series, videos and pics which I could find on internet. He is so adorable, so natural and very talented. The whole story of "Melody of Love" is very enjoyable. The incident is revealed one by one as most of Korean dramas do. Baek Sung Hyun is the first Korean star who I fall in love with. Please have some more of his work soon as lead role. Don't make me wait for so long. I already miss him much. Anyway, traditional Korean parents are really like this????

ben Jul 01 2014 12:09 pm I knew this drama was going to be a one year later type of ending, but over all it was a great drama. I don't know why everyone thinks that Hyeonu and Deulim did not get back togather but from my point of view they did get back togather. Sure they didn't get marry but they were on stage togather for the final curtain and frankly I think everyone live happily ever after so there, take that for what it is worth.

ben Jun 24 2014 12:48 pm Looks like the last episode is going to be one year later type of episode just like how most of Korean drama's end. This drama has been great so far but I can comment about how it is until I see the ending Also what about Nari? I feel for her since she supposedly is the bread winner (head of house hold) of the family with a sick father in the hospital. They (writers) didn't get too much into that part of the story but maybe they'll get into it in the final episode.

amy May 09 2014 3:43 pm Elizabeth, there is one solution to your problem, stop watching this drama. Yes it's called a drama for a reason and I guess you just don't get it. If you want something to end quickly than go watch a movie. It'll end in two to three hours. Also if you think this drama is annoying that don't watch any of the soap opera in the USA cause does dramas never end.

I'm on episode 117 and I think it needs another, well let me see, at least 10 to 20 more episodes, maybe more to make it into a very good happy ending. Maybe it'll go all the way up to 150 episodes, who knows.

ben Apr 28 2014 4:47 am Audrey, I don't know why you've jumped from episode when Hyeonu was sick to episode 111 but I think you better find the episodes you haven't seen and see for yourself what went on. There are too many thing that happen that it is too hard to summarize. It's like a math class, if you miss a class you will be lost when you return.

ben Apr 21 2014 4:22 am I don't know which drama everyone is watching but I feel very sad for Deulim. I'm on episode 106 and I don't want to be a spoiler so I'll just leave it at that. I just hope that she will be very happy at the end cause she deserve it for all the bad things she had to go through. I hope that the writers will make it a very good ending and not a short happy ending.

Look in the middle eastern countries where there is death everywhere in the name of religion. What about LOVE? People are discriminated based on whom they choose to love. As long as people are not stealing, killing, or anything to invade your space, just mine your own business and let them be. Now that being said, lets not forget that this is a drama. Make believe. I think at the end the bad people will get what ever they deserve and the people that are meant to be together will be together.

I bet he is aware that she is the daughter of the man he sentenced to prison to cover the sins of his friend and in law. Both of them are feeling guilty. The case being reopened by Suim and Hyeon in the subsequent episodes proves this. This is an interesting drama. But Korean is only modern in looks not in culture. They are still very conservative and rigid. Why should a woman suffer and be denied the right to marry a man because she divorced, worse still people cannot marry into the same family where their relations are married into. I find it very ridiculous.Well if Koreans like it who am I to disprove.

If you look under PROFILE where it explains what the drama is about under EPISODES it is blank. It usually will have how many episodes a drama has if the production is completed. That leads me to believe that this drama is not completed yet. I could be wrong but I guess you could contact KBS directly to find out for sure.

ken Mar 19 2014 1:59 pm I don't know which drama everyone is watching but this drama is so far great. There are so many twist and turns with each episode that you don't know what is coming up next. I'm on ep 84 and saw the preview for ep 85 and well I can wait till the next episode.

Ran Mar 05 2014 9:56 pm Does this drama reflect the reality in Korean family (in general) ? if it does, what a poor country behind all that hi-tech, educated yet glamorous lifestyle. Something to be considered after watching this drama is that people should learn to listen, not only to speak up their mind. In this case, parents should listen to their children, then children would listen to their parents also. When parents failed to do that, then don't expect too much that their children will listen to them and be obedient.

They keep too many secrets which makes them act like idiots I just hope that it will get better and everybody will be happy at the end. The writing, directing, and acting are great so far but who knows what will happen in the end. .

I'm starting to get a "My One and Only" vibe where there were so many character stories to keep track of the show became paralyzed and ended up being pretty boring overall.

KSY Nov 10 2013 9:29 pm Hopefully this daily drama won't end up like the previous one (Sweet Springs which has a very ridiculous plot and crazy character's personalities) during its halfway storyline. I'm looking forward to Dasom's acting skills though I'm not a fan of daily dramas. Anyway, after seeing the teasers, I'm giving it a try to follow this daily drama. Fighting to "Melody of Love" casts! :)
