Plot

Episode 1 "Behind the Scenes"

For 30 years, the Seoul Hotel has enjoyed its reputation as a first-class hotel, thanks to the integrity and “happy service” mentality of its owner, CEO Choi. The changing times, however, call for expansion and adjustment in order for the hotel to survive. Before he can fully accomplish this, Choi dies of a heart attack. The hotel shareholders and creditors begin to fall down hard on Choi’s wife, Yoon Dongsook, who vows to protect the hotel her husband spent his life building. Meanwhile, the employees begin to leave the hotel, and the number of guests declines under poor management. Meanwhile, Kim Bokman, who has been continuously attempting to gain control of the hotel, bribes the general manager of the hotel. In order to implement his schemes, he hires a Korean-American by the name of Shin Donghyeok. However, things aren’t as easy as he would hope. Yoon Dongsook decides to call upon Han Taejoon for help, who left the hotel after a scandal three years ago to study hotel management in Las Vegas. Jinyoung leaves for the States to bring him back under Yoon’s request. The minute and level-headed M&A expert, Shin Donghyeok, succeeds in implementing the most lucrative hotel business of 2001, despite attacks from the most prestigious American law firms. He even visits a local prison in order to strike a successful bargain. After managing to finalize a 5 million-dollar transaction, he heads for Las Vegas for a short vacation.

Loved the story, the OSTs and woah Bae Yong and Kim seong woo and others were fantastic in their roles! I can't wait to continue the rest of the episodes as it gets more n more interesting! Worth watching indeed! These days Kdramas are not as good the way it used to be, plus there's many new faces etc. Re the love between HTJ & SJY I think HTJ made a huge mistake in professing that the two of them are just friends hence out of sheer disappointment SJY had of course fall for someone else like KYH! Lucky girl! Love love this drama!

Dream team Jul 10 2024 9:27 am As woman, sometimes I confuse with Seo Jin Young. She loved 2 men. But i think she got good decision when she choose SDH. Because SDH always try to explain even he knew, he was wrong. And this actually i hope SJY and HTJ could be together. But, when I watched this drama from first episode, HTJ never gave SJY hope. And when SJY ask HTJ to be friend, HTJ easily to say yes. Thus, when HTJ met KYH he just do the best with his life. Because his love has over to SJY.

No need Aug 15 2023 4:24 pm Song Hye Kyo and Kim seung woo are the best! They deserve an award on this drama than song yoon a. Song yoon a's acting is very OA! Seo Jin Young's character is so annoying and disgusting! Going back and forth with two men. Her attitude throughout the drama is such a bad role among other hoteliers. How can a manager of a hotel flirt with a guest while on duty and wearing her uniform. Bae Yong joon's character is very disappointing as well. These two character's love affair is unbelievably disgusting!

Park Min Nov 01 2022 2:55 pm This is the most boring "hotel" themed drama I've seen so far, neither the staff nor the guests were interesting to follow. The character Kim Yun Hee is simply the worst part about the drama. The romances, relationships, pace, characters' writing, hotel management and the individual guest cases, all of which were hovering between bad and unwatchable. I don't even wanna bother elaborating any further. Not recommended!

She was the cigarette smoking wife of CEO Choi and I thought "how cool". Then her character developed cancer in the latter episodes, and passed away. Oh wow, was it already 20 years that has passed since this drama was released? And now, Ms Youn just made history as the first Korean to be nominated for an Oscar acting category.How fast time flies!

Yamin Soe Sep 14 2020 8:15 am One of the best K Drama ever. 2001 is still beautiful at 2020 with this drama during my Stay Home period. Ms. Seo Jin Young as my inspiration of my Hotelier. Hospitality industry has no hope at this moment in this Covid periods. I want motivation that's why I see Hotelier n Now suddendly miss my busy fun working periods at Hotel. Many of my seniors in hotel industry becomes hotelier because of Seo Jin Young unnie ?. Song Yoona unnie is so natural & good in acting that's why unnie receives Top Excellent Actress award ?? among the others.

Saltanat Mar 10 2017 8:41 am Great drama!!! One of my favorite, it is different from Korean dramas of these days. I liked the ending, I liked that Seo Jin Yeon ended up together with Shin Dong Hyuk and not with Han Tae Joon as I expected. Highly recommend this drama to everyone

JJ Sep 01 2013 8:15 am i'm rewatching this drama on dvd again for __th time i can't count how many anymore - it's one of my fave kdramas of all time, it's a classic to me! all the leads were awesome, bae yong, kim seong, song yoon ah, song hye goo, park jung chul and many others involved here! there was a scene that so touching when bae yong and his sister plus their father reunited! i never get tired watching this drama & i highly recommend it! 4 stars! 2 thumbs up way up!

Eun Jung Aug 20 2013 1:40 am The reason I watched this drama was because Bae Yong-joon is in it. He is a very interesting actor with a powerful stage presence. I like seeing him in dramas more than films because dramas are longer and he gets more screen time in dramas. One reason I liked his role in Hotelier was because I felt that he had a lot of room to express various aspects to Shin Dong-hyuk’s personality. I found myself loving his character and I hoped that he would be successful with his work (but not hurt the Seoul Hotel). I also hoped he would be successful with the woman he loved. Bae Yong-joon has played impactful romantic roles in other films and dramas. I especially love Winter Sonata. However, of the romantic roles I have seen him do, his role in Hotelier affected me the most. I have a great respect for Bae Yong-joon, and seeing Hotelier made me even more impressed with him. I also liked seeing Kim Seung-woo in this drama. I saw him also in Miss Ripley. He is a great actor. I loved his role in Hotelier. He was such a good man. (He was a wonderful man in Miss Ripley, also.) I have seen Song Hye-kyo in a few other dramas and I like her. This was my first time to see Song Yoon-a. I liked seeing her also. I thought the storyline in Hotelier was good. One thing that stood out to me was how the workers at the hotel were like family. I liked seeing them work together. With the exception of an offensive, vulgar English song sung in the background near the beginning of this drama, I like this drama. I just finished the last episode tonight. And I already want to start watching it again from the beginning.
