Due to an accident she had in her past, 30-year-old Yuri Motomiya (Fumi Nikaido) has a special telepathic ability. When she looks into someone's eyes, she can hear their innermost thoughts. She often gets hurt hearing the true feelings of people that she does not want to hear. She is afraid of hearing these feelings and also showing her true feelings to others. To protect herself, she tries to keep a distance from other people whenever possible and she has given up on ever loving someone. One day, Yuri Motomiya meets Yoon Tae-O (Chae Jong-Hyeop). He is a 26-year-old Korean student studying in Japan. He has a bright and friendly personality and gets along well with other people. Yuri Motomiya happens to make eye contact with him. What she hears from him internally is a Korean voice that she doesn’t understand at all. She starts to believe she can fall for him, because she doesn't understand what she hears from his heart.

Lunaria Feb 08 2026 12:13 pm I love this drama so much that I regretted I didn't watch it earlier. Nikaido Fumi is soo cute. I love watching her grew up from childish girl that wanted to "become adult" to psychopath serial killer and now a CEO of a small company.

I put off watching this because I've been sceptical of Korea-Japan collab romance. I was proven wrong. This IS good. With lots of secondhand embarrassment and bits of cringiness here and there, yes, but it's good.

Haters that hated the FL for her outfits or whatsoever, clearly forgot that this is a Japanese drama. Reality of a small company CEO in J-Drama and K-Drama is different.

Anyhoo, I had a good time with this drama. Otsukaresama deshita!

Kari Nov 13 2025 11:36 pm I am enjoying the series very much. I think Yuri is cute and the actress fits the role perfectly the leading actor is very handsome and really good acting the scenes. I don’t think it’s cringe at all because it’s meant to be a light romantic comedy.

Asian shows like Japanese and Korean are wonderful because they can tell a story extremely well and mix romance, drama, and comedy perfectly. No issues with the short series. Love it!

The whole plots was too weak too slow boring drama and more things the languages has been mess up. korean actress can act way better than her but her she can't act at all totally dissapointed.

Yes at first it was kinda cringe. But as the episodes went on, and love triangle started to uncover, it became more interesting. Fan of Chae Jong Hyeop, kdramas and Jdramas as well. This show is not for everyone. But just try giving it a chance.

Cartoonish Jul 27 2024 5:25 am I watched this bc I am a Chae Jong Hyeop fan but this was absolutely ridiculous. For one, they move so cartoonish. Secondly, CEO says they can’t be friends at work but constantly makes it obvious that they’re closer than they actually are. Especially in the coffee episode where she kept trying to get his attention. Didn’t you just say you shouldn’t be caught by Hanaoka?? He’s literally Right There. He can See You.

It hurts me to say but ML is a bit creepy like she said you shouldn’t be chummy in the office and he says hurry up and fall in love w me. And then in the next frame inside the elevator that the office cannot know about their relationship??? She didn’t even reply to your message that morning dude. Good thing it’s fiction

And in the end, when Hanaoka told Min Hana (the other woman who had the power) the cause of her partner’s death, I had to laugh. Like… how did she not know that? The show definitely wasn’t perfect, but I absolutely adored how the love between Yuri and Tae Oh felt so authentic and pure.

Micol Apr 19 2024 3:06 am finished the 10 episodes today and I think it's a super cute drama! I love the cross-over between Japan and South Korea! The only thing could be that I would have loved for a bit of more action, or for Yuri to understand her feelings a bit more, instead of dragging the tension for too long. But otherwise, I love the lovey-dovey vibes and the cuteness of the relationship between the main roles <3 I recommend this drama for those who love the cute romance genre :)

He says he us 26 & ahe says she is 30, but when you see him as a child, she looks much older thsn 4 years from him.

I live is USA, & Netflix has Subtitles for both Korean & Japanese. We know she is confused that she can't read his thoughts because he thinks in Korean, bur his Korean thoughts are still translated in the Subtitles for us.

I understand a lttle Japanese & a little Korean so that helps too and understand a little of their cultural differences & that is what drew me to this drama.

Typical drama with having some fight or misunderstanding, but hopefully in time it will work itself out before the drama ends.

What I hate is that there are 10 episodes & Netflix made it look like there were only 5 episodes, now I have to wait for the other 5 episodes......bit I have Viki too but it hasn't released there yet☹️

I like to wait & binge watch the whole drama...I hate waiting for new episodes to air because I need to know what happens NOW....lol

nomadlander Mar 30 2024 8:40 am Chill out Haters! The female lead is the CEO of a small company and is not filthy rich so her house and wardrobe are appropriate, especially in Japan.

If you must have a showy, over the top chaebol show, this isn't it as it is not meant to be.

If the lead actress conforms to the Park Shin Hye school of acting, that's great for her and us as her horizon for acting success is unlimited.

People commenting on how the FL lead was acting and how she was dressed should visit Japan before saying negative things about her. This is common behaviour and dress style in Japan. Only thing I didn't like was the producers not translating the Korean part I get why they did it but just wish they didn't. Just glad I was able to follow along just feel bad for those that couldn't.

Aeishi Mar 27 2024 12:31 am Hahahah all the people commenting on her clothes and mannerisms have clearly never lived in Japan or visited there. Girls wear oversized/long clothes, make sort of exaggerated gestures/speech for some things like when something is "delicious" and so on... As someone who understands Japanese and Korean and has lived in both countries, I feel like this drama was made for me and I'm not usually into romance.

Extremely wide checked clown trousers with braces and higt herls with woollen socks !!!!  Terrible !!!! I've seen over 30 Japanese series but never seen a costume this bad !!!!!!!!!

I had to cancel after the 3rd episode!!! Simply awful !!!!

Candice Mar 15 2024 12:41 pm I'm guessing the reason they didn't put subtitles for when ML *thinks* in Korean is so the audience (it's a Japanese drama) can feel the same way the FL's character does: not understanding what he's exactly thinking. You just hear his tone & see his facial expressions like she does. Also remember, she's used to understanding & hearing everyone's thoughts for 12 years now, so they probably want us to imagine how she's feeling while talking with ML.

CH2 Mar 15 2024 11:11 am the creators of this show justify not translating the korean thoughts so viewers can feel the same as the main actress not understanding what he thinks. So it is made on purpose. Chae Jong-Hyeop is basically in another golden retriever role. Which fine, I mean he is adorable. But after getting this japanese money he might consider showing some range and doing something different. I feel like he is being dangerously type casted. From my experience there are some codes in japanese dramas that can be very annoying for foreign viewers. The music is super intrusive and it is everywhere underlining every single action. The acting is more or less the same. It is so over the top, there are no subtleties. Oh the lead is super surprised! Oh the lead is super sad! Oh the lead is super clueless! The clueless expressions can be the most irritating. "what?" "huh?" "sorry?" "eh?" Specially female leads being obnoxiously clueless of being the object of affection. And mostly every adult behaving like a not very smart teenager, or even worse. What is interesting in this drama is how Chae Jong-Hyeop tries to navigate this whole mess with his more naturalistic and somehow more subtle style of acting. He basically portrays his character as a puppy. I wonder if that was literally what the japanese director asked from him "just act like a puppy". Well, he certainly did a good job.

The good thing is that I did understand a little Korean language. I hope that wasn’t the end of it. No explanation at the end. Please make more season. It was cut short. Longing for more episodes. Kudos to the actors. Great job. More episodes please!

PAUL E Goodness Mar 12 2024 8:25 am so far in this series I find that Yuri has this fear of getting close and getting hurt so she keeps her distance until Te-O creates a closeness and Yuri cannot handle Te-O's amorous confrontations to befriend her and start a serious relationship because he starts to have strong feelings for Yuri but starts to realize he might have a rival in Hanaoka for Yuri's affections but Te-O still asks Yuri if Te-O is special person to her or is Hanaoka her special someone

Can they be added? I would rewatch it if they were. I’m really into the show. The main characters Yuri and Tae-o are great together! I was a fan of Chae Jong from Castaway Diva that I finished recently. I like mixing K-Drama with J-Drama; just need subtitles!

And yes, I thought it very unfair not to include subtitles for his thoughts. I’ve seen Chae Jong-Hyeop in other films and always enjoy his acting…so come on producers, don’t leave a cliff hanger.

Elle Mar 10 2024 9:21 pm I'm currently on episode 3 which is a surprise to me because I almost stopped watching during episode 1 when the scriptwriter/director/actress decided to have the character throw herself onto the floor of the rooftop out of embarrassment. Not to mention the way she acts or is directed to act, her facial expressions, etc are in general not believable even in a slapstick way. Also, the 12 inch height difference is laughable when the walk side by side.

Gary Smith Mar 10 2024 5:15 pm I was impressed with the show and the cast. I am familiar with Chae Jong in his other great shows but Yuri, really fit well with him it was a perfect match. I was kinda shocked at such a short series hopefully you will add more at a later date loved the show and the way yuri could hear what people were thinking bout it reminded me of the movie with Mel Gibson another good movie

She has the same expression which you couldn't understand if feeling happy, shy, surprise or just constipated..especially when she stutters. I think I saw her latest on Woman: My Children My life, she suits with this kind of character only. But not for cheesy romantic type... there's no consistency.

Contrary to the male lead and supporting characters which are very suitable to their characters. The story is quite interesting anyway.

For those who curious if jeonghyeop will speak Korean or japanese, he kinda do both but mostly in Japanese. His japanese sounds good to me (no, I'm not japanese nor fluent in it. Just based on my opinion ^^). I really love the first episode, can't wait for the next one!!
