Nam Se-Hee (Lee Min-Ki) is a single man in his early 30's. He has chosen to not marry. He owns his home, but he owes a lot on his mortgage.

Yoon Ji-Ho (Jung So-Min) is a single woman in her early 30's. She does not own a home and envies those that do. She has given up on dating due to her financial struggles.

Yoon Ji-Ho begins to live at Nam Se-Hee’s house. They become housemates.

I've loved Lee Min-ki since Spellbound and Jung So-min since Playful Kiss(hated Oh Ha-ni tho lol) They did Amazing here. Also shoutout to the other two couples as well. Their relationships were also interesting. Anyways 10/10

christina Apr 09 2023 1:34 am It's one of those dramas with a name that doesn't attract. I mean the English name. When it comes to comedy, it should be 8.5/10. Storyline is 9.5. In the midst of all the funny and at times, crude dialogue, the writer presented so much social issues. I do agree that the presentation(production) as a whole can be better, as in fewer episodes. Lee Min-Ki fitted the role of Nam Se-Hee like glove. Worth watching.

Maybe everyone will get angry with Ho-rang, but in real life she is so make sense. that's how real life going. instead, I am getting so pissed of with Ji-ho when she decided to leave Se-hee. she is so selfishhhhh. Really, how could she left someone but then came back again. she left him eventhough she knows that Se-hee is going to propose her. (????)

but overall i love the drama, i love Jiho (and jung somin) so much she is the reason i watch this drama. I Really Love Se-Hee Bcs He Is So Cuteeeeeeee!!!!! I want husband like him (in better way).

Haemin Mar 13 2023 8:07 pm I mean, it's a lovely drama. No quarrel about actors either. My problem is that the last few episodes are not only extremely drawn out but also seem completely unnecessary. Like there was no need for them to make things so complicated. I would recommend watching for sure but definately one that is hard to reach the end of. Likely to be a skip-to-the-end kind of drama after like, episode 13.

You really go through all of the emotions watching this drama. It starts off on a more comic note, but don't be fooled; there are some very heartbreaking moments as the episodes go on.

Enlargment wen't wrong and each scene with him, his lips were drawing attention more than his acting. Other than that I have no other complaints about that drama. Ep 1 is perfect, but ep 2 turned into boring melodrama

Lee Min Ki is not a good actor, so boring, but he shined when he's wise and during that wedding scene. I think his character is an aspie, that's why he doesn't have expression.

Either way, no chemistry between the leads. The 2 female friends are unnecessary, no chemistry with them as well. I always skip them

Jung So Min has best chemistry with the moms and dads (senior actors), and also Jeon Hye Won.

Every scene with Jeon Hye Won in it, it became an interesting scene

I enjoy throughout the storyline except I get fed up on ep14. Very draggy but lee min ki save the drama with his acting. Every single character in the drama makes me tired because they're unnecessarily annoying but they're real life character. But anyhow, this drama is good.

old drama wather Sep 09 2022 12:03 am Ugh! I loved this drama at the start -- and it was absolutely phenomenal for the first 12 episodes. But the plot was stretched out so needlessly it is not just bad -- its actively maddening!!! At first, the philosophical and literature references were all very nice and fitting but then the actions of the female lead became so frustrating!!!

For the first 12 episodes, I was recommending, practically begging everyone to watch this drama but oh god I can't even watch the last 2 episodes on 2x speed it is so frustrating and slow and unnecessarily convoluted. The writers tried to put a Lot of meaning where there was no need just to stretch it out and create a picture of "prefect romance" and "fate" when all this is very bad communication skills, worse social skills, and the female lead thinking she can control people's emotions. If I was the guy I would actually hate her.

I’m 6 episodes in, and I’m along for the ride. This show relaxes me. It has a nice, easy going flow, with a little bit of humour, and good sub plots.

The choice of the guy with the biggest brightest KDrama smile in juxtaposition with a guy who can't muster a smile!!! Spectacular! The family wedding with the traditional gowns for the moms!! So precious! (I fell in love with South Korea when I lived in Koreatown in Los Angeles and saw those gowns at celebrations there!) This is a show I will watch more than once! So, I came to the conclusion that Se-Hee fell for Ji Ho since the very beginning, at the bus station ep.1. He's been showing it before they got married, just never expressed any emotions back then, because he was afraid (as Ma Sang goo said in ep.11).

When Se Hee came home from the wedding and his alarm rang for blind date, he started typing a message, and than he said to himself "what's the point if she arrived home safe?"

When Ji Ho asked him why he doesn't want to marry, he said he proposed to her because IT'S HER! When she was leaving for Namhae he went to the bus station intentionally to give her back the scripts. And when she proposed him there, he asked if she likes him, Ji Ho says no, but he didn't look releived. He had somehow sad look in the eyes, as someone who's just been rejected. The look in his eyes when she said to his father she loves him. He was jealous of Bok Nam, angry/hurt when Ji Ho said she doesn't have a boyfriend infront of him, just to hurt him and he was always waiting for her to go home. And last before expressing his emotions... the smile on his face when she arrived at her parents's house.

He loved her long before she loved him.

That's why Se Hee looks distant. Because he did not portray a usual kdrama male lead that we see in the rom-coms.

I was different here, more realistic how people in their 30s live, society perceptions on marriage.

Going to watch all his dramas on Netflx . Need to see him more and more . All the best to him - wish he gets all good roles.

Jung so Min is also a very good actress they were really good together. Will watch more of her shows.

Having an arranged marriage is so common in India where to some to know each other and their strong and weak points and grow to love and respect each other - it was very similar . The points picked were good - each couple portrayed and acted very well. I give it a full Thumbs up.

The male lead personality is almost like watching paint dry. The entire show, he never likes her and the minute he does one thing, she acts like he’s the world. A complete waste of time.

i think se hee is the most saddest mc story i ever watch in kdrama history(i watch alot drama). and ji ho chara is amazing too, failure her dream, her first love is hurting so much and won't let her in. but still fighting the world. meinnn

It is like a good book...you read it and sink deeply into it and when you are finished, you place it on the bookshelf. Later, maybe months later, it calls out to you, and you read it again and it is even better the second time.

This is my second time, and I can honestly see myself watching this again. Lee Min-Ki is magnificent in his role. Indeed, no one else could have pulled off these roles as good as the actors and actresses in this. Kudos to each and every one of you. YOU are at the TOP of your game!

Maya Melody Feb 13 2022 1:21 am Many people are asking what happened at the three year mark. Were they married? Were they not? First of all, Se-Hee is 38 years old, not in his early thirties. He is almost ten years older than Ji-Ho which one can see in the occasional generational questions posed throughout whether by Se-Hee, Ji-Ho, Sang-Goo, Soo-Ji's mom, Jung-Min, Se-Hee's father or Ji-Ho's brother.

Before they had their ceremony, Ji-Ho and Se-Hee were prepared to have a simple paper ceremony by applying for and registering their marriage. Once they applied for the marriage license and had the ceremony, they decided to NOT register the marriage to simplify things because they knew it would end within two years. Divorce can be complex and expensive and leave a mark on the female's personal registration card. Because of why they'd gotten married, their divorce was as simple as a mutual agreement to tear up their tenancy-marriage contract which they do together sitting at the dining table. That was their act of divorcing.

When they decided to get back together, while still at that rooftop room enjoying what is truly their honeymoon of being in marital love, they choose to finally go register the marriage they'd applied for before their ceremony. They didn't need to do anything else. They had literally just taken a two-month break from one another by testing up a lease agreement, and then filed their marriage when they decided they lived one another!!

Ji-Ho's brother, on the other hand, applied for a marriage certificate, filed it, moved his girlfriend into his room while Ji-Ho was away on a writing assignment. But he and his wife never got around to having a ceremony. They went straight into their honeymoon and having a baby. Partly why Ji-Ho was homeless to begin with. Remember, it was her deposit, registration, and job which purchased the apartment in which her brother was living as her roommate. Her brother had been living in HER apartment. But her father asserted that because he was the son, he would get first dibs over it even if it was in her name.she didn't have the heart to throw him out once she found out he had gotten married and was technically on their honeymoon! She hadn't even been informed he'd gotten married while she was working. Not even a text!! When she came home to find fancy lingerie in the wash and a girl in his room, she thinks he is a jerk with a hook-up when she finds out the naked girl in his bed is his wife!! She just takes off. She can neither sleep not work under those giggly conditions. Confident she'll be gainfully employed continuing with the same production group, she leaves to find a short-term room rental in a decent area.

This leads me to question the fact that besides obliging her family, Making a morally astounding decision to get married fakely instead of forcing her brother to find his own home or moving back to Namhae with his wife, she steps back and marries Se-Hee in lieu of exercising her rights of ownership. She was an empowered enough woman that when it came down to marrying for a room, or going to Namhae or kicking her brother and his wife out, it was between Namhae or Se-Hee. Towards the end of the series she admits that she had actually fallen in love with Se-Hee long before the bus stop kiss, but only realized she felt something compelling towards him while at the bus stop. She had actually agreed to marry Se-Hee with the hope that he would come to love her before the two years was over. And that she'd rather have even the smallest thing with him than not at all. She had ALWAYS believed in love and the destiny story of the love she was meant to have. She believed she had met her soulmate when she met Se-Hee. She just didn't know how feelings and love were meant to unpack and flow. But she kept trying!!

Despite Se-Hee trying to express himself by asking to sleep in her room again, her hurt and fear finally take over. It had taken him THAT LONG to show her any interest and then the first love of his past life shows up. Because he never expressed himself verbally or clearly, Ji-Ho decided to go sort her pains and angers towards him and see what she would be left with, resentment and more pain OR, love and longing. It turned out to be the latter. So she returned, learned to bake Se-Hee a complex cake as a sweeping gesture. The "wedding cake for their first day as an actual, in-love, married couple!! She was actually a HUGE risk-taker on love. She believed that true love happens only once. She believed it was Se-Hee.

Back in high school her dream was to find her soulmate. It wasn't about writing. It was about finding the love destiny and her life's destiny meant for her. Even though initially not the romantic love she'd wanted, she eventually realized that her life and other dreams, her parents' and brother's lives, her friend's lives and all their hearts became better and happier after she married Se-Hee.

And the home they live in at the end is NOT owned, but leased. They discuss BOTH names being on the lease There is a good chance they bought it with his parents' monies and live there while his father owns it. They BOTH earn A LOT of money by this point at the end. The photos In their home show their travels, with success for both having started three years earlier. Se-Hee's salary doubled when they got an investor plus receivables had increased phenomenally!!

This series is so beautiful and so well-done. Thank you, KDrama, for showing some of the ways true love between sincere people evolves !!!!! ??

I still haven't figured out if they were married or not in the end." I thought both he and the girl were so linear and insulated as to both be on the spectrum. It was nice to see the smiles at the end. I think the other two guys with their zeal and their all-in non detached way of communicating gave a nice contrast to the staid emotions of the lead couple. Glen, they showed photos spanning time at the same time the voice over said 'married 3 years' and they were in a newer home with amenities of having more income (like the massage chair). So I assume they married and we were seeing 3 years later which could have been easy to put on the screen like in other shows, but the writer was more philosophical in this screenplay which I did like very much. It was good to analyze what marriage really could be, not should be. I get the title in the last scene but I think Room 19 could have been a good title too, a more layered title, because that concept could have been woven more. What is my room 19 and who do I let in to it....very interesting. And the cat. Wow! Great job cat! and cat trainer!! Love the bus....was it an inversion to the reference to the movie The Graduate and it's sad bus scene. I think so. Also I love who had the baby first of the 3 couples. Such joy!

glen Jan 31 2022 6:26 am I liked this drama - not to keen on the other couples though - when you have three couples it makes less time for all of them to develop. I absolutely loved that cat - what a beautiful calm creature. I thought See-Hee might have had a mild case of autism or Aspergers. He was a great kisser though!! I still haven't figured out if they were married or not in the end. See-Hee said they were divorced and to figure out an alternative to marriage so as he could be her guardian. Yet the voice-over said that they registered their marriage three years ago. Can anyone clarify that for me?

I don't normally rewatch Kdramas, but I find myself turning this on when I'm sad or having it in the background while cooking. Despite its exceptional merits as a work of art (of which there are many), I mostly come back to it because it's very relatable for me personally, and I always find a piece of new wisdom in it. I can imagine that it's not the most exciting drama for younger viewers and even though it's a romcom, it approaches relationships from a quite different point of view than others in this genre. I'm 33 and a lot of romantic dramas don't appeal to me, I guess I'm old for teenage romances and I certainly don't see relatonships the way I did 15 years ago. So along came this wonder, and I couldn't belive what a gem I found.

The main achievement of this drama is that it presents several different perspectives on love and relationships and all of them are equally mature and authentic. The premise of a contract marriage between a house owner and his tenant may sound weird, but actually, that also strikes as very realistic. When the female lead asks who would get married for a house, the male leads asks back, "why do you think people get married?" It's such a simple interaction that goes very deep. In this drama, two people get married because it mutually benefits them but they are also very open and honest with each other, work together perfectly, respect each other completely, and try to help each other grow and do better in life. And all of that happens before romantic feelings are ignited in them. It's a really mature look at relationships, because it shows that they have all those things that make up a healthy companionship and romance is just the cherry on top. Such a refreshing take, compared to all the larger-than-life romances and grand gestures of the romcom genre in general. The thing is, in real life, compatibility sometimes comes before romance and no matter how exciting undying passion looks in movies, real love often grows from tiny moments, subtle gestures, and a deep bond that needs nurturing. At the wedding, the male lead tells the female lead's mother that he cannot promise making the female lead happy but he can promise not standing in the way of her dreams. And the mother says, how could a person make another one happy? Letting her be herself is a lot more important. No matter how many times I watch that scene, I end up tearing up. It's powerful, raw, exceptional, perceptive writing. The main couple's relationship is such a beautiful, healthy look at the way love really works.

The drama also circles around the theme of marriage through the eyes of the other female characters, one being against it and one wanting it more than anything else. Both views are challenged and both characters grow beautifully throughout the episodes, going deep into their own feelings. It's such an incredible drama with excellent writing that make you cry while also being full of laugh-out-loud moments (omg, the kimchi making scene). I don't know how they did it, but the balance between drama and comedy is just perfect in this one, and the romantic aspect is the most realistic I've ever seen in any drama. And of course, we all fell in love with the cat.

(As a footnote, I'd just like to add that the song "Marriage" is one of the most beautiful Korean songs for me, I'm a sucker for Kdrama soundtracks but they really knocked it out of the park with that one.)

Very courageous to explore ways in which people/couples find their own meaning of love/marriage. The acting was first rate; appreciated the nuances involved in the relationships and how they changed. most happy to have experienced this story.

An amazing story, light romantic but not cheesy at all, funny, emotional, relation analyses, lessons of life, love, happiness…. An excellent performance of all the characters, really bravo to all of them! The lead couple, wow, just Top! I really really enjoyed their powerful acting, their chemistry in a special way. Lee Min Ko, an A+ actor, i hope to see more of him. The same goes for Jung So Min!! I really recommend to watch these series, you will enjoy it from epi 1 till the end!! 10/10 ❤️

I feel like the main focus isn't really romance . This drama analyses some interesting questions about life : marriage , love, the standards of life, hapiness...

We see how the life of 3 women in their 30ies is, their struggles, their thoughts, their boldness. And women are reaaaaally inspiring in this story. In here, they are not defined by their love interest, but rather their dreams and decisions. It treats subjects that promotes women problems and empowerment : sexual harassment at work ( and how to break free from it), finding work for women in their 30ies is difficult, marriage shouldn't be the final goal for a women to be happy buuut it is ok to want that too, the dynamics husband-wife and how marriage life shouldn't be and how it should be.

I really loved this story because it is realistic . It is also comforting because the advices given to the characters ,you feel like they are adressed to you too , that's how relatable and close I felt to the story.

I also liked Won-Seok and Ho-Rang's relationship but I kinda hated their break-up. Though in the end, I understand that it was necessary for their relationship to grow. The ending of the drama was also pretty good.

It was such a wasted opportunity that we didnt get to see much of them when they finally decided to start a real relationship. I might get hate for saying this but I felt like Soo ji and Sang goo’s love story was a lot better and interesting. I was frustrated with the last two episodes because there wasnt any content to it. The pacing was so slow that it made me bored but I still finished it because I wanted to see how it would end.

Have rewatched this drama like 5 times now. Romance between main leads developed so flawlessly. Althought male character is a bit too stiff as people said, i think that is the exact reason why this drama is so interesting! You will see character development in him, and what makes it better that his feelings towards female lead was reason why he changed. Such a good example of romance story, it brings more weight to the story. Cinematography wise is also good. Background music is also good. Especially editing work in this drama made me contemplate--nice editing really brings great impact on a show. Especially i really like how it really helps comedy scenes in this drama well delivered to the audience, as comedy in this drama is so real (maybe without nice editing, we could not see it as comedic scenes). This drama beat Reply1988 as my favorite korean drama. And its still no.1 on my list. I wish i will bump into another great romcom drama or maybe better than BTIMFL. If you still unsure to start to watch this drama, just try one episode and if you find yourself craving for another episode, go on till the end!

Both dramas are giving off similar vibes, and the female lead’s characters are strong under calm demeanor with likeable attitude, so it’s easy to find it very relatable.

No nonsense exaggeration.....Really good romcom that will keep you smiling throughout the 16 episodes. The chemistry between the leads is superb. The cast team did great job acting. Especially the male lead.....his acting was great. He managed the character so well. Oh and the cat is so cute. Love how its the life story of ordinary people and it touched based lots of Korean culture and beliefs without overdoing it. Highly recommended.

I've downloaded the series and watch episode 1 to 16 every time i feel bored, i cant sleep , or stuck in traffic jam. It lightens my mood, it makes me feel in love and makes me think over the choices i made and will make.

I love Ji-ho's character for a girl of her age and circumstances. Something youngsters must emulate. refined, modest, behave but she has surprising side that i can relate to.

Lee Min-Ki gave justice to Se-Hee's character. He brought Se-Hee to life and never failed to catch my very critical taste when it comes to men.

The lines are superb, the views, the experiences and how they put it to use, it's as if im with them in every line of the story. Even the supporting stories on the side, they are meaty and full of substance. i hope to find another like this in my lifetime.

I watched it for the first time on 2017, I was waiting for every upcoming episode since it has been a ongoing drama. Just like anyone else, I didn't expect anything. I rarely finish any drama. But turns out I love this drama.

I love the character development, the feeling development between See Hee and Ji-Ho. Especially after all this time they were together as a married couple without feeling, finally See Hee had a feeling for Ji Ho. The chemistry feels so natural. This drama is also filled with fresh comedy that often makes me laugh. The story itself feels realistic (not really realistic, but the situation that potrays the real korean marriage tradition).

Well, I kinda feel empty for 2 last episodes. They spend their time on their own to thinking about so many things until they decided to fix their relationship. But that's okay, in the real life people needs me time to think clearly.

Overall, it's an awesome drama. I enjoy every minute of it hahaha. I would love to recommend to my friends. Definitely worth to watch! ?

It examines issues that today’s unmarried, dating and even married couples I. Asian societies face, whereby the most important ones are being open and communicating honestly with each other. But issues like how young couples are constantly being held to society’s expectations when it comes to marriage (ie “good daughter-in-law disease) and dating (does it mean love?) make this realistic and thought-provoking.

Also the other couple’s story was good, the younger ones, very cute. Lee Min Ki is good at acting dorky characters and weirdos, but he is just too skinny in this, like a long stick. He put on condition for Beauty Inside and looks better, there he acts another weirdo, his forte, but he is brilliant with SEO Hyun Jin. Not sure he had chemistry with Jung So Min, perhaps it was her fault.

Ending was a bit cliche but a good drama. Watched it all. Not much around at the moment after Crash Landing and Something in the Rain.

yvette lune May 11 2020 3:50 am I started this drama with low expectations. Because I'm in need of a fresh, new drama, while waiting for the other dramas to update every week, I decided to give this one a try.

After finishing the first episode, I got hooked to watch more. It's getting really interesting, and, of course, like tons of other reviews had said, not your typical rom-com. It has so many relatable values and quotable dialogues. I love the chemistry between both leads. I fell in love with other characters as well, especially Ma Sang-Goo. I think he's a great person, a husband material, and a very reliable friend who always be there for his friends and help solve their problem.

Do you realize that both Se-Hee and Won-Seok never really help Sang-Goo solve his problems? Because he can solve it on his own. Soo-Ji is also very fascinating. Among the six characters, I feel related to her the most. She's very cool, strong, and independent.

Overall, I must give it 9.5/10. Why I left out 0.5 after all the satisfying comments? Because I felt off with Bok-Nam. Yes, he does play a great role in waking Se-Hee's protectiveness towards Ji-Ho, but after that he doesn't play an important role. When he first appears in the story, I find his character really interesting and would like to dive more into this triangle love story, but I guess this drama is not my cup of tea as they want to focus more on the relationship between three main couples, without the 'real' nor 'important' third-wheel character. Although, I notice they put an extra portion for the accountant who doesn't even appear in the important characters list. I wish Bok-Nam would have a more 'deathly' effect for Se-Hee and Ji-Ho's relationship, that's why I feel a bit disappointed.

But overall, this drama is so satisfying to watch. Thank you writer-nim and producer-nim! And thank you for all the actors!

I ended watching in hoping they would end up together again. But somehow i didnt quite like the roller coaster ride of shouting from Ho Rang. First off all, it’s not your typical rom-com contract marriage type of drama. It’s really funny, not cliche, and realistic! It discuss a lot of social issues in korea, especially regarding marriage. Also, the acting of both ml and fl is so goooddd. I dare to say this is one of my most favorite romcom series, seriously don’t hesitate to watch!

Jung So Min is pretty but not in an unreachable level, which makes her perfect for this. And of course Lee Min Ki, oppa! He has great comedic timing. His character here is like straight out of anime ? I’ve watched too many dramas and there are quiet a few that I could say this. Like Mohyul in Six Flying Dragons, it’s as if they are anime characters made in to live action. This is my second time watching this drama and I rarely rewatch. That neocortex line from the first episode is my favorite. Also “the algorithm of my life should not be broken.” Haha! I also love the reference from Room 19. Rang and Seok’s story is very relatable for longtime couples. Soo ji is a really cool girl. This isn’t just a love story. And can I say the best character of all is the cat of course! Always a scene stealer. This is a must-watch for all the hot young bloods and the late bloomers out there.

Main leads very likable, but also female lead is relatable, she felt realistic and not one-dimensional, and the male lead was not the typical power ceo or quirky toy. Also the secondary cast is very strong - they too felt more realistic and well-rounded than most K dramas and never felt like filler. Best (as in, natural) dialogue I've come across in these types of shows. And of course the acting is fine.

jaynekicks Jan 24 2020 6:53 pm I started watching this because I was curious about Lee Min-Ki being cast as the main lead. He doesn't exactly fit the formula. It quickly because obvious why he was cast. He fits the role so well. Although he is meant to be a weirdo, they gave him a certain wisdom that offset the psycho vibe. This kdrama just snuck into my heart. I binge watched it in 3 days! Nice one guys!

genji Dec 22 2019 3:11 am hmm wasnt a bad story. thought it was slower than the other stuff i though it would me more unique. it wasnt they started to get together pretty late. and it was more drama than anything not just main couple but the second lead . and the way the ji-ho played with se-hee feelings just to be certain of something. tbh i felt bored on last episode not sure if it was cuz i saw it all in one shot. or nah it was still entertaining cuz Ma Sang-Goo and soo-ji couple lol

mira Jun 19 2019 2:39 am actually i really frustrated with Nam Se Hee character, like when is he going to change? when is he going to show his emotion? when is he going to stop talking in formal ways? it was really dapdaphae, maybe because my character is alike with Yoon Ji Ho's. BUT I LOVE THIS STORY LINE SOO MUCH!! It's very different with other drama, really realistic, it makes us think 'differently' Good job to the writers, and the casts!!

It is very romantic but without the cheesiness of other romcom dramas. I can watch this over and over and still feel giddy to see Se-hee and Ji Ho fall for each other. I love all the characters but special mention to my favorites, Ma Sang-goo, Bo-mi and Ji Ho's mom, they are all exceptionally funny...Congratulations to the cast and the writers, the director and the production people, you have done a great job!... I hope to see more Korean dramas in this calibre in the future...

Definitely gonna watch this drama right after I finish watch the Secretary Kim’s cuz i had the idea that they might be continue (as in getting married and had children as in Secretary Kim but then the ending might be sad as Jung Somin died in Secretary Kim).

loved the whole cast and they just had that smoooth chemistry and the whole story had an interesting take on marriage which I haven't seen anywhere else.

im meahri Nov 05 2018 11:08 am hello. i love this drama so much. i love the character of kim min kyu that play a role of yoon bok nam. he has a good charm and a great actor so far. i can't get enough of the scene when ji ho is expecting that bok nam is a dog. i also like when won seok play silly towards ho rang that he said ho rang has a dead skin under her nails but he wanted ho rang to see the ring. the propose are so sweet i hope i can get a propsal like that too. but unfortunately won seok make a biggest decision in his life to breakup with ho rang. ho rang must be so sad because she wanted to marry him but the tabble has turned.

redbeangal Sep 09 2018 1:17 pm This drama is so underrated! I fell in love with the main couple...their chemistry was so good and I loved how honest they were with each other! They aren’t afraid to speak up when they felt uncomfortable with each other and it was quite refreshing in my opinion. I could watch Ji Ho and Se Hee interact all day....their relationship development was great! Not to mention, the soundtracks blend so well with the scenes...Plus, you won’t be disappointed by the kiss scenes ;) The side stories were interesting as well as they also touch on other issues one would face in a relationship. The drama can seem slow to some but I quite liked the pace this drama was going at. It was nice watching this unspoken trust and love form between Ji Ho and Se Hee. All in all, the writing, acting, filmography and soundtracks of this drama were fantastic to me and I truly believe it needs more love! I will definitely look out for future dramas written by this writer! ^^

Lee Jul 10 2018 3:22 pm One of the best dramas I've ever watched. Throughout the series, the growing chemistry between Se Hee and Ji Ho was incredibly natural and emotionally rewarding. The series was also suprisingly reflective--without being cheesy like so many other dramas--and made some genuinely eye-opening comments about life and relationships. I will be honest that the last few episodes were somewhat disappointing in their execution: the female protagonist acted notably out of character for a significant part of the concluding arc, making the ending perhaps a little less than totally satisfactory. All in all, however, First Life was an amazingly funny and emotional roller coaster I'd pay to go on again.

What a masterpiece .. i cant believe i ignored this one for months. i literally ended this show in 1.5 days.... it is soo deep the dialogues are tremendous !! I literally wrote so many of them down. Maybe i was just overly sensitive due to personal reasons but this is the first rom com that made me cry this much... The best thing that can explain this one is.. Its real!!! It freakin real .. It's real, it does not fool you like how any other dramas do, it does not lie to you about the truth. It portrays reality, I love it.

I love how it made me love my life even more and appreciate the little things in life.

I love that the ending wasn't rushed. It's done carefully and sincerely. I'm thankful that the time alotted for the last episode's enough.

Because This Is My First Life is a well written and well directed drama.

Kris Feb 24 2018 1:14 pm All these plot lines how it is hard to live in Seoul even with a degree from SNU. It must be difficult for Koreans to watch. I can’t but wonder why they can’t show more movies and series set outside Seoul. Going to college, working and able to have maybe 3-4 kids because it’s affordable. Answer me 1997 almost did this well. They ended up in Seoul. My little bride was entirely set in Busan with no hint of Seoul. What about Daegu? Incheon? Let’s eat 2 tried but honestly it ended with split families/divorce for those leaving Seoul. Why not a show about a family leaving for Sejong from Seoul and from nearby cities and growingthe family and raising the kids well? What about more series centering around a group of defectors from N Korea adapting to the south over several years.

You get more excited as to how will the characters relationships change. Makes your heart flutter. Makes you cry. Best lines ever! If Here in PH, it's like "hugot" lines.

The storyline isn't forced or cliche whatsoever. I have fallen in love with both lead characters and their acting. The chemistry is fabulous and there isn't a single flaw that this drama has.

sk Jan 16 2018 5:57 pm I can't believe I was just gonna pass by this drama. Storyline is awesome and straightforward. I love the characters' honesty and how realistic some parts of this drama can be. Reality can be harsh and this drama is a great depiction of it. I especially love Soo Ji's character! She's so cool like such a girl crush. Ho Rang and Won Seok were often frustrating to watch but I realized that many couples are probably like them in real life.

But i think, what makes me watch this drama 2 times in a row, is that somehow this drama reminds me of how me and my spouse start our relationship. It reminds me the flutter heart of having a first love in your life, and teach us to start the love in a clean, honest, right way. Thats why i understand why ji ho took the divorce.

Because this is my first life, although frustrating at times, was a very nice drama. For the most part I did like Ji Ho, although some things she did and some decisions she made was just.. I don't understand them at all... Se Hee was actually very well played and I liked him, Ho Rang was so annoying at first but she grew on me, Soo Ji, ah I loved Soo ji.. she was so cool and put together and such a beauty. I also had a hard time keeping my eyes of Min-bok and his wonderful dimples. Can still picture his beautiful face in my mind after having watched the drama XD. Haha. Ahh, all in all this drama was very good with a nice message, and the soundtrack was top notch! :)

I'm only on episode 4 so far, but I really can't stand Ho Rang's character at all, to the point that its almost putting me off the whole drama itself. I always skip over her parts and the "fights"(which she creates out of nothing whatsoever). She seems to get angry at him for the smallest of reasons and even when she's in the wrong expects him to apologise and its just so cringey to watch. I'm really hoping there is some sort of character development whatsoever ahead. It also bothers me so much that a character as lovely as Won Seok is with someone as petty and manipulative as Ho Rang. Other than that major blip, i'm liking it so far!

I feel obliged to leave a comment after seeing this because I finished the entire thing in just two weeks - very quick for me, as this is also the first kdrama I didn't skip-watch. Some aspects can be discussed alright but this is the first kdrama that I genuinely loved, that made me feel feelings, so I want to thank whomever is responsible for this production! I feel so so very happy right now, I'm glad that this warm, interesting kdrama with lots of introspection and an almost 0 level of hysterical people exists on earth! Watch it now :)

All the characters are so good, u wont be bore at all, U will smile, laugh and cry at the same time. The dialog was so amazing yet meaningful. The cast is the best and i think there's no other actor can replace them, u will love all of them, its just so right. And this drama definitely is the best drama of 2017. Hope u love it too, its worth-watched ?

bh Jan 05 2018 9:03 am A different kind of Korean drama that attempts to find answers to many of life's most difficult questions - the importance of marriage, love, and maintaining the status quo. Very refreshing to see a Korean drama in this day and age that does not follow the typical route of over dramatization and shock factors, and instead focuses on a deep, original and fleshed out story told within the equally well depicted characters' lives that I feel is very much needed in Korean society.

Prepare your tissues ladies and gentlemen.

Ell Jan 05 2018 1:51 am I usually don't comment here over dramas that I really like but this seems to be one of the rare times I would do. I didn't really enjoy the drama as much as I expected to be. I even thought this drama was overrated. I was not really impressed throughout the drama as I would be to the other dramas that I like. It was a decent drama, lovely storyline that made me finish the whole 16 episodes in a day. However, oddly after I finished it, I found out that I couldn't get over the drama. Every day, I'm longing the vibe that the story gives out and how beautiful it is. I ended up rewatching the whole series as I never did before to any other dramas that I find very good. I love the character development and how they interact with one another. It is a really odd feeling for me that never happened before. Definitely, recommend people to watch this and you will deeply fall in love with it like how I do.

Three different stories with three different but amazing endings. It is always pleasant to see the side couple's or couples' stories being surfaced, highlighted, and given proper ending, not just focusing on the main couple's story as if the two main characters are the only ones who are important throughout the drama.

A must watch!

This is the first time seeing lee min ki and he did really good, love to see more of him. As for jung so min I have watched every drama she has been in and she is a really good actress ? I rate this move ?✅ just perfect.

Newbie Dec 30 2017 6:02 am Absolutely loved all of the main female characters in this drama! They all had great character development and achieved happiness that wasn't completely dependent on others (aka a man). I especially loved Soo-Ji's character who is pretty much a badass. I felt like each female character was properly developed as far as personality and storyline except maybe Se-Hee's mother and this is pretty rare in most K-dramas that I have seen. This drama also has a wonderfully refreshing and realistic take on relationships, especially the social pressures related to marriage. It does get a little slow at times, especially Ji-Ho's slow dialogue. Her voiceovers are also kinda TOO abstract and hard to understand and don't really contribute much to a story that already has great characters that can convey the feelings well. And don't worry, it is full of light hearted humor with just enough sprinkling of real emotion to make the story well rounded and touch your heart.

At first I thought this drama would just be a another typical romance drama that the leads will fall in love and blah blah. Its true that this drama is about love, but it has a different way of telling the romance. From the first ep, I was surprised by how thoughtful the drama is because it contains a lot of life lessons. There are some humor factors in here making it more fun. 120% RECOMMENDED

This time too I felt something was lack for the ending episode...

Everything goes very slowly, steadily, carefully and perfectly from the beginning up to the pre-final episode...

Suddenly the final episode came up and everyone urges to the happiness of finishing touch with the idea of happy ending.

In general, Agreements are contradictory to the ground reality but they still making regulations in it... and Still it shows an incomplete contract...

I think It's not necessary to repeat good dramas as good, wonderful, refreshing etc ... as everyone knows obviously...

Se Hee- Tin Man Ma Sanggoo- Scarecrow Won Seok- Lion

Se Hee is obvious so I don't need to explain.

Ma Sang Goo is represented by the scarecrow because the scarecrow "lacks the brain". He may had been the CEO but most of the work is done by his employees and he is seen as something like a fool. However like the Scarecrow, he possesses common sense, quick wittiness, and remarkable insight.

Wonseok is the lion because he was cowardly like the lion. He was supported by Ho Rang for seven years and she basically "raised" him. She always gave him the push in the back. Won Seok always made a cowardly bravado to make him feel dependable when in fact he isn't.

This drama is well written and the special effects were well placed. It's a deep drama as it uses a lot of literary devices and incorporates many phrases from books. Utilizing them, the writers develop a story unlike any other dramas. I recommend this drama as it is a refreshing story compared to others.

I like story about main character rather than another character (harang and sooji) . the story a little bit slow, I thought I should give up at ep 10 but nope I still watching because this kdrama not predictable like another drama. At the end of ep, I always wanted to know what happened next. Recommend this drama. Two drama that make me watch all ep without give up this years (usually I give up watching kdrama halft way because the drama getting slow or boring) the deserving of the name and this drama. For me, this drama better than DOTS and goblin(of course this only my opinion)

Now, I am able to breathe and smile for the entire life. This was a very heartwarming story. The script was so written well and incredibly touching deep to my heart. I just want to thank all the casts whom have been putting their effort in making this drama beautiful and awesome. Thank god we have been gifted with incredibly amazing writer of this drama. Hope to see a nice drama like this in the future.

Kim Dec 02 2017 12:27 pm This drama was pretty good. I enjoyed it, loved that it wasn't those cliche kind of kdrama. It teaches a lot of valuable things in life which is very nice. I do think that this is more suitable for those who are 20 and above. I think I might've enjoyed this more if I were older. However, I really dislike the fact that the characters speak so slowly with pauses. I even had to speed up some episodes so I wouldn't get frustrated and have trouble remembering what their previous lines were. The pace of the drama is also quite slow but I didn't mind that. Overall, I still think this is a good drama. Kim MinKyu is soso cute too ❤

Beyond your average contractual marriage K-drama prototypes, Because This Is My First Life has indeed significantly changed my perspective towards life, love, marriage and relationships. It wasnt just a drama, for what it granted me with was nothing short of perfection. This series, dare i say it was more like an entirely life changing experience to me, rather than a typical romantic comedy one could ever ask for.

Every line mentioned by its characters left me thinking and eventually evaluating how i have been living my life lately. Every single narration got me like emotionally choked with their brutally honest feelings and opinions i used to be afraid of admitting to myself, let alone shouted it outloud or openly discussed it with others.

Not to mention all the books and multiple references used to describe the entire story somehow perfectly conveyed the struggles every single one in the series, if not us, had to suffer from, be it personally or within social context, without losing its elegance and subtle qualities.

I'm utterly BLOWN AWAY by how well this masterpiece articulate love in a way that i've never seen before nor thought of possible to be done. YOU have got to see it for yourself to believe it. Nothing will ever the same again after you're finished with this particular show. Simply SUPERB.

Nevertheless, thank you for the hardwork!

Adore lee Min Ki in this. He potrays the character well, starting to love him now. ㅋㅋㅋㅋ

Nice story plot about marriage and relationship, can tweak the acting part a little bit, but overall it’s an okay show!

I thought Se Hee had some serious problem with his Dad till make him can't forgive what he's done to Jung Min. but there's nothing. Just affection to his son that make him can't agree Se Hee marriying Jung Min.

Anyway, this drama don't have antagonist like another drama (Bok Nam, Bo Mi, Jung Min, Se Hee's Dad, the Accountant can't be antagonist because they're so nice) but still good to watch. The problem was in inside of each character.

It's the real masterpiece!! I want to vote this drama to be the best tvN's Drama instead of Goblin!!

abc Nov 29 2017 4:35 pm The first 13 and a half episodes were brilliant. This drama should've ended at episode 12 or 13 and it would've been one of the best dramas ever made. The last two episodes completely ruined the series for me. Jiho, the main character, did a complete character change and became a selfish unrealistic Mary Sue character who had absolutely no consideration for the other people in her life... and then in the last episode everything turned out exactly the way she wanted in perfect Mary Sue fashion. Extremely unrealistic ending and extremely unrealistic character change for the main character just to fulfill the propagandistic agenda of the writer. I am never watching another drama written by Ms. Yoon.

Along the trip over these 8 weeks of watching this drama, never change my decision and be a bore. The drama introduced me to this wonderful crew, as well as wonderful actors and actresses. The main lead male, I never seen him before, as well as some other actors and actresses in this drama as well. The main reason I watched this and why I watch most of my dramas is because of the main lead girl, and sometimes either a supporting actress and or actor, or even main lead male and female. I really hope that this couple can be a real life couple, if not that’s okay too. I support the director for his decisions throughout the drama and will look forward to great dramas like this from this very specific director. I have never watched a drama based on the director, but this drama has peaked my interest so much that it lead me to appreciating the director, since not only the actors and actresses were the only ones who did the best. Without the director’s vision for this drama, I wouldn’t be writing this comment right now about this excellent work of art. I had also wished that the drama would go on to 20 episodes like others had requested as well, but the way it was wrapped up was very enjoyable. This drama becomes my favourite drama of 2017, well also could be on my top5 favourite drama of all time. Started to watch just because of lee min ki (been a fan since dal ja's spring) but really into it after ep.1. The other casts are fantastic, story and flow are amazing, and many lines are really relatable (that we can contemplate about our life using those lines). I'll miss this drama when it ends on next Tuesday and will still rewatch it everytime I need laugh and motivation :)

I super love this drama (Because this is my first life), it tops my favorite dramas of all time. The storyline is very unique and the actors gives justice to their character. Upon watching each episodes.,i always relate my self or see my friends to each chatacters situation. I learn a lot from this drama, life situation, love and dreams. This drama mends my monday sickness, Im always excited for mondays and tuesdays. I hope it will have extended episode. Im so sad to know it will come to an end.

I don't really know Apink that well but when I saw Bomi I think of Bomi from Apink and was doubting myself if they are the same person because it's rare that a drama will use actor's real name when their character has nothing to do with their real life personality, unless there's something more to her character (which I wouldn't be surprised to find out because of the way she interact with her boss and those above her). Only until I check the Wiki then I realise Bomi is indeed Bomi.

Kang Sung Wook from heart signal is playing a role of sweet guy from dating app meeting Ho -Rang through fate. I wish they end up together as they both want same thing in life. Marriage. Looks like won Seok and Bo-Mi will become cute office couple. Sometimes decision to breaking up and moving on is best compared to stacking up hard feelings towards the person you once loved unconditionally and trying hard to compromise. It is better than that. It is good to see the second couple ( won seok and ho rang )moving on choosing different roads they want to travel.

This drama has really surprise me because there are dramas which youve been anticipating but turns out to be just mehhhh..but there are dramas like these that just surpise you. The slow build up but still catches ur interest in the first eps.

The actors plus the story line are just perfect its ligh but at the same time has depth. It evokes a lot of emotions for maybe people like me. It makes you feel like you suddenly the kind of relationship that See Hee and Ji Ho has.

I liked Jung So Min ever since I watched her in playful kiss but this is so far her best. I think she has become my favorite Korean actress. Hope they giver her more drama.

As for Lee Min Ki, didnt really notice him before but this drama has certainly made me see him in a new light. He has become more lovable in my eyes :* :*

Everything about it is perfect -from the cast to the story line, and the quirky little parts which contribute to the overall effect of watching this drama. The main couple are so adorably awkward yet it's actually not awkward to watch them. They are both so beautifully innocent in their own ways that you feel like you just have to continue watching their scenes.

What I also love about this drama is the fact that the main couple are not always the center of attention, which is good in building drama but also showing other elements too. It's wonderful and refreshing to take a step back and see the other two couples, and it shows how each and every relationship is different.

But what I appreciated the most about this drama is that nearly everything is relatable. It perfectly captures the problems that society and especially young people are facing on a daily basis, whether it's relationship pressures, workplace discrimination, or commitment and marriage. I know these issues have been portrayed in other dramas too, but this drama is able to show them without the cheesiness yet at the same time makes the overall drama so cute and lovely to watch.

Truthfully, i've been watching more than 167 k-dramas and most of them have the same fault, the inconsistent story and flow. Morover, the acting from each casts potray the story well. A sudden event does come up in the drama but it doesn't ruin the flow. A confusion might present at a very few points but it is not a huge mistake.

I recommend this drama 100%

Ohayo Nov 10 2017 8:06 pm This drama is a bit similar to a jdorama i have watched, but the title escapes me atm. The guy was a stiff programmer with a house and the girl needed a place to stay. And they had a set up marriage for convenience.

But thats the only similarity. I like this kdrama more because the characters are more relatable

I love everything about it, the story is 10/10, the cast is superb, the romance is giving me diabetes!I'm in LOVE with Lee Min-Ki (Se Hee), he fits his character like a glove and Jung So-min (Ji Ho) is so pure, I could watch her all day. I wish this drama had 500 episodes, I wouldn't mind even just watching our main couple sit and watch soccer! The script is also hands down one of the best, so realistic and relatable sometimes, and the delivery even better. 12/10 would recommend to watch!!!!!

megan Oct 29 2017 1:49 am Such a GREAT drama! Initially I didn't watch it because the synopsis makes it seem super generic but I started it yesterday on a whim bc I was in procrastination mode.

It is actually so good! Pretty down to earth if anything - definitely NOT a generic marriage contract makjang drama.

Best of all, all of the actors/actresses are top notch! They really really suit their roles and they pull it off so so so well.

If anyone likes Age of Youth and is bummed that 2 seasons are over, I recommend this for you all! It's another down to earth but super interesting drama.

I do not regret starting this at all (so far at least - currently waiting for ep 7).

Ish Oct 27 2017 1:37 pm I actually get to discover this drama because of Kim Mingue (who plays Yeon Boknam) but the storyline got me! Especially the role of Somin. I don’t write as a profession but I write for passion, but I can somewhat relate to her struggles. With a man whom she thought was a lover, a not so perfect job, and a not so good family ties. Also, the fact that Minki and Somin aren’t initially drawn together by infatuation but by the fact that they need each other in other ways, even though Somin has been attracted to him somewhat, makes this storyline more interesting! Another thing is that, this drama is one with a very light story, and something that can make us feel like giving love another chance! Plus, Bomi is hereeeee she’s so cute, isn’t she? I can’t wait to get to know more about this story! Finally a drama that is good-feel. (Also, I’ve been raving so hard over Kim Mingue ohmygosh) ♥️♥️♥️

I like the story, it's kinda different from the other "marriage contract" drama, and the whole drama is not about the contract. The character is also great. If you're doubting yourself whether to watch it or not, I'll recommend this to who like romance-comedy, a little bit of family story, and realistic friendship. And the actors and actresses are great! I hope you won't disappointed after watch this, well, the only thing that will disappoint you is the fact that this drama is still ongoing :(

This has a great plot and I hope to see more of Bomi here haha. I love Bomi's character LOL. Sorry I'm just too happy to see Bomi act in a drama. Se Hee and Ji Ho are so cute and adorable. The OST Part 1 is so addicting since the melody is upbeat. Two thumbs up for this drama ??

This drama alludes more maturity and more chemistry between the characters.The characters also have more of a background, especially the main female character. Seeing the first two episodes, so-min definitely has a charming character that struggles with her dream and her family/friend life. Mainly, her problem lies within her dream not going as she wants it to. I hope to see her grow as a person as the episodes come. I look forward to more character development!

I haven't seen that jdrama mentioned and I don't really care if they are similar or not. I think that little jdrama flavour is sooo on point and I enjoyed :)

Se Hee working at IT company and ji ho who doing chores everyday, and decide to get married. But i think this drama has its own story and focus. I watched first and second episode, the chemistry between the cast are good, and make me excited to watch next episodes.
