University students Yoon Jin-Myung (Han Ye-Ri), Jung Ye-Eun (Han Seung-Yeon), Song Ji-Won (Park Eun-Bin), Kang Yi-Na (Hwa Young) and Yoo Eun-Jae (Park Hye-Soo) share a house.

Jin-Myung is busy supporting herself financially and studying. She suffers from lack of sleep. Ye-Eun is devoted to her boyfriend, she is clear about what she likes or not. Ji-Won has a bright personality and likes to drink. Yi-Na is popular due to her beautiful appearance. Eun-Jae is timid, but she has an unique taste for men.

Park Min May 04 2024 7:26 pm There's an obvious case to be made around the exploration of the ups and downs of being a young adult, but this drama was an excruciating exercise in superficiality, offering nothing but a hollow shell of what could have been a worthy experience. From its cardboard characters to its cringe-worthy dialogue and moments, the drama failed to maintain an attractive hook, opting instead for a glossy, saccharine portrayal that felt more like a caricature than a digestible imitation. The stories were equally pretty shallow as well, its attempts at drama fell flat, overshadowed by its overwhelming lack of substance, conviction and commitment between most of the characters, relationships and dynamics. Its surface-level approach with everything left no room for any proper investment to be had. By every metric possible, the 2nd season was a significant downgrade to what was an already struggling piece. Yoo Eun Jae was undeniably the weakest link in season 1, recasting her actress to someone who's struggling to play it, made things 10 folds worse. The replacement was trying really hard to mimic the original while the actress facial expressions, fluency and intonations were the polar opposite. It doesn't take a blind man to be appalled by the comparison, not like the original was any better. Unfortunately, things got even worse, her continuous story, background, conflicts, motives, and character writing were a nauseating concoction of utter literary incompetence and creative bankruptcy, a slap in the face to anyone with even a modicum of taste. To be fair, both Ye Ri & Eun Bin brought a much needed improved performances into the 2nd season, their characters as well had a better fit. Overall, the drama was a disappointingly bland and forgettable entry that failed to leave any lasting positive impact. If you care, streaming services like Netflix cut off any inner songs/tunes/humming/reading-lyrics-out-loud, the first episode is +3 minutes shorter than TV.

Jung Ah Jung May 04 2024 9:45 am Ye Ri's boss, (the restaurant owner). This isn't really a spoiler and you can decide for yourself, but I don't think I ever hated someone in a drama as much as I hated him. Whether they are a bully or whatever. He is 100%, a total loser!!

Jung Ah Jung May 04 2024 9:29 am I think Park Hye Soo left to do My Shy Boss. Season 2 was so hard to watch without her. She was so awesome in Season 1. IDK where her head was at, but being in Season 2 would have been great for her acting career My Shy Boss was not even 'All That'. Does your company maybe give you advise or what? A bad decision IMO.

Meaningful and effective intros to the various episodes. The themes addressed are interesting and profound, and the actors are very good. As always, Park Eun Bin was a cut above the rest. Of course, the usual unbearable Korean dumbness also showed up in this series, but fortunately it was compensated for by other positive aspects. My rating is 95. Greetings from Italy

Song ji won's really mood maker, but sadly her story in first session's too short. I like the whole story of all main characters, especially yoon sunbae and yina for session 1

Oreonion Aug 17 2022 9:55 am OMG! I only need ±3 days to watch this drama for 26 Episodes (Season 1 & 2) ha-ha, then what? That's not the most important thing. I'm watching it in 2022! But the plot is still very fresh and exciting. It's really worth watching this drama, I don't have a problem with any of the characters. They have their own charisma There are ups and downs, but it doesn't make me upset or sad for a long time. In every episode there is a quote that we can take and not be too pushy. Very smooth quote and very cool.

lilly Apr 21 2022 9:39 am I feel like I’m the only one who didn’t really enjoy this series. I found most of the characters really annoying with the exception of song jiwon which made most storylines boring for me to watch because I just didn’t care about the characters. I think it might be a preference for me because the characters were very realistic and flawed and I guess I just wasn’t in the mood for such realistic storylines. I didn’t except this show to tackle serious issues I thought this was just going to be a cute college friendship series so it took me off guard. I also didn’t really feel any genuine and deep friendship between the girls tbh. (note: I’ve only watched season 1)

Kikkoman Mar 31 2022 1:28 am Song Ji-Won is the best character in this show. Park Eun-Bin absolutely nailed the tomboyish role. I enjoyed season 1 but didn't really care for season 2 because too much has been changed. Out of 5 girls, only 3 remain in season 2(Yoon, Jung, Song). Yoo Eun-Jae is there but a different actor is playing her role and she feels like a different character, often annoying at times, in season 2. they should've just changed the character instead of hiring a new actor TBH.

Ye Eun insecurities with Yi Na is realistic while Yi Na being intimidate to Jin Myung is also understandable.All the main leads done well on their characters/personality. The mystery was also great not too heavy to handle but afterwards there's a lesson that's y I prefer also this season but season 2 is also good. I don't need season 3 if the mainleads won't be the same. season 2 os not so cliff hanging unlike this season.

I even cry at the 1st episode when Eun Jae is trying to fit herself in the new environment although I shouldn't :P It's interesting to watch 5 women with different personalities live together, having conflicts and their own secrets, but they managed to get along. They even touch sensitive issues like menstruation, euthanasia, LGBTQs which are not talk much in drama. There are some things that are not solve directly, rather it's a subtle hint that you may lose, if you skip some parts. I've finished both season, but I still can't figure out about the ballerina, the relationship of Eun Jae with her father, Eun Jae's mom and step father are suspicious, like did her mom try to kill her father for insurance? Ye Eun too had conflicts with her mother because of her twin sisters? There are so many unexplained things, I'm not sure if we should still hope for season 3. This is the only drama that I would consider to re-watch for a better understanding.

Age of Youth lovers Dec 02 2020 10:24 am please show the third season . I really want to watch because I'm curious about the end of the film Age of Youth where the five characters have their respective partners. In the previous season, the plot made me have constant curiosity about the love relationships and life problems of the five characters. If I had that curiosity, I would be very aggressive towards the series and couldn't even sleep out of curiosity. So please show the third season. Please.

Anyway i am so sad that SK still doesnt make another female friendshop drama and movie like Age of Youth and Sunny until now. Look at China. they produce more this kind of drama. I hope SK produce another Age of Youth and Sunnyy in next year.

S Sep 26 2020 10:04 am It would have been great if Park hye su still in Season 2. It creeps me out whenever the new actress who portray eun jae has a screen time. Especially in the episode where she’s trying to be cute or “Aegyo”. The interaction between Eun Jae and her ex BF is not so realistic at all. Too far from the one they show in Season 1. Really disappointing. I’ve been trying to finish the season 2 for quite sometime already, but still I couldn’t finish because they have alot of screen time. Everytime the they will appear i feel really sad. I don’t have anything against the actress Ji woo, she’s okay. But this characther is not just for her. I hope JTBC will give us all a proper closure by producing the 3rd Season with the original Cast in it: Park hye su as Eun Jae & Ryu hwa Young as Kang Yina and the rest of the crew and ofcourse I hope sunbae Yoon Jong-yeol played by Shin yoon soo will be there as well!!!

Pala Jul 25 2020 5:01 am Today I finished watched the season, which I am sad but I will definitely look up the cast and watch other K-Dramas. Overall I really appreciate this show because it showcased the importance of friendships and all the hardships that people go through. Which I wish I had surrounding me. I loved how that at first no one knew what each of them were go through but through out the season, a snippet of which individual was go through came out and everyone had each-other’s back and helped them go through it ! Thank you for creating this show !

Ingrid Jun 21 2020 2:53 pm It annoys me that 1) the "reason" the ballerina moved out was because she got pregnant and then everyone acts like that isn't true including the ballerina herself. There are hints when they say she got pregnant that it's just a fast easy way to move on to another topic. 2) What the heck happened to the burglar in the beginning of season 2 where the girls get lost?? It's a shame in an overall good show that there are so many loose threads.

BMR39 Aug 02 2019 6:56 pm I have watched both series, The original series is so much better: it is sharp, warm, very human and very enjoyable of the problems of growing up as a modern young woman in today's Korea.. The dialogues are often very good and sharp. This is not a shallow series.The start of the original series is initially a little slow and confusing, but the story soon falls into place and unwinds in interesting ways .

The characters of the five young women who are sharing a house are eventually well drawn out. These five bright women who are attending a top school have very different characters, but they must find practical accommodating ways to cohabit peacefully in their share house. In an interesting Korean way, age and school seniority plays a role.

Each student in her own way appears to be facing inner struggles coming from some significant burden in her past that she tries to face in her own way..

Each one of the five actresses is excellent in her own role.

Park Eun-bin as Song Ji-won the talented, hyperactive journalism major in is very intelligent, fast on her feet , and has a very impressive range of acting - and amazing dancing! She stood out for me. I thoroughly enjoyed her collection of dresses too!

Yoo Hwa-young as Kang Yi-Na the relatively older young lady who dropped out school and lives for the day by seducing rich men is also excellent in her role. She deliver her lines in a beautiful and powerful way. She is also impressive and magnetic.

Han Seung-Yeon plays Jeong Ye-Eun, the nutrition major who cannot resist food radiates warmth and cannot help smiling at everything.. Actress Han herself has a sunny and warm personality. She has a winning smile on screen. Among the five roommates, Jeong Ye-Eun is in love with love and let's herself be used and even abused by her insecure and insincere boyfriend Ko Doo-Young.

Yoon Jin-Myun the poor, stern, older student who is taking forever to graduate because she is holding three part-time jobs to pay for tuition and help her family is also very well acted in a different way by Han Ye-Ri by as a highly disciplined young woman who is always on the edge of a financial crisis, for reasons that she is keeping to herself.

Four of the five actresses continue to play their role in Series 2 in reasonable way.

The big exception is the character of Yoo Eun-Jae the very young, shy, innocent, withdrawn and struggling first year woman who is a psychology major. In the original Series, the role of Eun-Jae is played with considerable depth and weight in by Park Hye-Soo. Her shy, tentative and barely articulate interactions with her roommates at home and her cool, kind psychology senior Yoon Jong-Yeol (played by Shin Hyun-Soo) are a fun to watch. I had already found Park impressive and successful in her role as young Shin Saimdang in the beautiful series of Saimdang, the Diary of Light.

 The reasons why Park Hye-Soo dropped out the repeat series 2 are not publicly known. One reason might be that the character of Eun-jae that was the major axis of the original series becomes marginal in Series 2.  Or is the mediocre acting of Park's replacement that renders Eun-jae marginal? She is a shallow and forgettable actress. Her interactions in the warmed-over boyfriend story with Shin Hyun-Soo as Sunbae Yoon Jong-Yeol are flat. The Director's role of guiding the actress playing Eun-jae  may have been a factor.

Dresses as means of self-expression are often very interesting, Even T-shirts with lines in English, French and even Arabic are fun to read.

Night Phantom Jul 29 2019 4:08 am Awesome drama, Not too cute/fluff, and shows reality of the world unlike may other k-dramas, I highly recommend watching it. The plot of the story is, AT FIRST, confusing, but When you progress through it's actually super good.

Once I watched season 2, she’s not that bad at all :) Season 2 rocks!m! I mean both season 1 and 2 portrayed deep, beautiful emotionalism and hilarious comedy! It's a MUST WATCH!!!!

Court Jul 24 2018 11:29 am This was an absolutely great drama! I originally didn't want to watch as I thought it was going to be very cheesy, however it was deep, intimate and funny. I was very disappointed that they replaced Park Hye-Soo in season 2 and I watched the first episode of Season 2 and cringed the entire time and havent been able to pick it up since. The music was timed perfectly and fit each scene. The scenes with Han Ye-Ri and Yoon Park were excellent!

I started the second season and just could not finish because I was so upset about a different actress portraying her. But I will eventually go back and finish season two and I expect it to be as good as season one was!

ddua Apr 05 2018 12:57 am This drama is one of the best I've ever watched. It depicts a lot of life events that many young adults go through. I was able to relate a lot to Eun Jae, the timid girl, because I myself was like her when I was a freshman in college. Not as crazy timid as her but lost and worried about making new friends because of my timid/shy personality. But not just with Eun Jae, I was able to sympathize with each of the female characters on certain aspects. Each character is so unique personality-wise with different life events but they mesh together very well together as friends. I'm not sure if I want to watch Season 2 though I heard it was good..I just can't picture how a new actress replaced the original Eun Jae lol. I think Park Hye Soo was just so perfect for the role with her innocent, big eyes and pure personality. Anyway, this drama really heals you and teaches a lot of life lessons for people in/around their 20s. The characters are so loveable and this drama just hits you everywhere in the feels. You laugh, cry, scream, get angry, etc..it makes you feel a lot of emotions haha please go watch if you haven't yet! I promise you won't be disappointed.

oof Jan 10 2018 1:08 pm i was a bit skeptical at the first episode, i thought it would be a typical k-drama with just boy drama. and yes, there is boy drama, but there is a lot more. all five girls have different stories and they all kinda tangle together into a very good show. their friendship is really cute to watch. i don't think it's possible to pick a favourite character out of them at all. not even a least favourite. i love them all.

I really wish for a season 3, but with everyone united. I mean, if you start together, you end together right? I petition for original Yoo Eunjae and Kang Yina to come back, so everyone can end together the way they started!!!!!!!!!!

Her character brings the protective instinct toward her housemates...like in episode 10...she's willing to pull the hair of ye-eun friend who pass malicious text towards her....with her on the show she brings so much adventure together with the girls...

Her character with add more spice in the story...

Yeongji Oct 16 2017 4:03 pm I would not consider this drama as one of the best ones out there, but I like how it is different from others since it is more realistic and tackles issues that are oven overlooked. The drama may not consist of the most popular actors and actresses, but the chemistry shared between the characters seemed so real that it almost looked natural. To be honest, it would be a shame if they weren't that close behind the scene and did not remain in contact after the season ended, especially for those who are not in the next season. Overall, it is a nice drama since it is not that uptight and it sure made me laugh and produced some tears for me without it being an emotional roller coaster. Last but not least, it was cool to see the real life chef play from "Heart Signal" play as a chef in the drama!

I leant a lot from it and I can relate. It good for people in thier youth as it helps u develop yourself and teaches u a lot. Good job to the crew, actress and the writer, they did a good job. Furly Pink Jul 18 2017 11:15 am Seriously, this is the best drama I have come across so far. It touched my heart and it makes so much sense about our everyday lives. I really recommend those who have not watched to support this drama. I didn't know it was so good, it literally just brings me to tears in episodes because the characters are well-potrayed. I cried when the drama ended, but thank god Season 2 is coming out in like a month after I finish watching Season 1. Thank god I have some good dramas to watch next month.

Scott Mar 24 2017 5:34 am I'm well past the age of any of the characters in it. But Age of Youth captured me. So happy I tripped over it during a search on Netflix. Sometimes serious. Sometimes funny. Sometimes silly. But done with delicate insight and a sense of mysticism. The soundtrack is perfect. And I hope all of the actresses can return. I will still watch if Ryu Hwayoung doesn't continue. But it will definately take away from my enjoying it fully. These days the nature of things in this world kinda' have me feeling down. This series entertained and lifted me. And it has me looking for entertainment in a whole new direction.

So happy there's Season 2! Love each and every episode. Though I'm past their age, I 'see' life unfolding before me in this drama. Each girl's story is so believable and can happen to anyone. Each family's trials and hardship, though may be 'unreal' to us in the modern world, can be so real in terms of the 'secret' or challenges as a family, as a person. must watch and pls make Season 2 even longer.

Being a supportive friend makes me interested in her. When JYE going to a trip with his bf, she cheer on her wholeheartedly even though she herself doesn't has bf. And when YJM cried saying that her nail peel off, she's the who one hugged her! She also gave good advice to YEJ. Even though she has a random and shameless personality, but she is very kind inside. I really wish that the ghost story wasn't made up though! I keep wondering about that from one episode to another episode,, until she said that it just a lie,,, Well, the writer probably wanted to make that she also had a dark past too. p/s: she is quite pretty too and I love all her clothes actually XD

I love that there's grand gesture in the story, and nothing's too epic but more on the realistic side of things. If you expect miraculously saved situations, and amazing love stories, well this not it. Really really good quality :)

All the actors were amazing especially Han Ye-Ri whose emotions really got to me, in one scene I was literally bawling with her.  I am truly hoping for a second season with all the unsolved mysteries that were left.

I don't know why, at first I only watch this because I've got nothing to watch and feel bored, but after I watched the first episode, I can't help but to fall in love with this drama. The story is so simple and realistic, which is I can relate it very well, because I also a college student. Besides, I like how the writer create each character different from one to another, it feels so real. At first, I like to watch Yoo Eunjae because she is so innocent and cute. I like how the other tease her. But, then Kang Yina get my attention. Even though her character a little bit "wild", but I like how she cares so much about her housemates. Especially when Jung Yeeun frustrated because of her boyfriend and almost ruin her life with some bad guy in the night club. She looks like she doesn't care but at the end she can't stay still knowing that her friend like that. And then, after watched episodes 9 and 10, suddenly, Song Jiwon steal my attention (Again). I become so interest with her because her easy going personality. I like how she always become the mood buster in the house. But, as I watched episodes 9 and 10, I like her more. Especially whenever she had scenes with her male friend, Sungmin. I find them cute together. And don't know why, I feel like actually Sungmin has a feeling toward Jiwon, not as friend but as man and woman. Even though he is not show it, but I can see it. Remember when they had party in the house and he can't make it. The next day she met him in the campus, the way he answer her question is kinda different, it's looks like he is deliberately did not come because he knows there are must be many guys, and he looks kinda disappointed. Another proof that make me think that way, is at the end of episode 8 when all the males cast be interviewed. Besides, I also think that Kang Yina's friend, Dongjoo also has a feeling toward Yina. The way he look at her is kinda different,especially in the episode 10, when Yina suddenly sell all her bags and shoes. He looks worried about Yina. Well, I don't know whether it is true or not. It is only my analysis about the drama. And sorry if I comment too long. I just want to express my opinion about this drama because I like it so much that make me so excited yet sad to wait the next episodes because it will be the last 2 episodes this week. I feel like everyone has a little bit of Jin-Myung, Ye-Eun, Ji-Won, Yi-Na and Eun-Jae in them (well I know for sure that I do anyways). Age of Youth is a beautiful piece of art that I don't think I will be able to forget. It is one of my most favourite Korean dramas and I'm gutted there's only twelve episodes. This drama tells the story of each girl and the sad reality they are living behind their smiles. I relate to Yoon Jin-Myung the most. She bottles up all her feelings whilst putting up an emotionless facade. When she finally explodes I cried. I found it difficult to watch her because her reality is my reality. In one of the episodes she says that sometimes she wants someone to see her cry so that they can tell her everything is going to be okay. And that is how I feel sometimes. She pushed away the guy that loved her even though she loved him back because she was scared. She was scared of looking weak. She was scared that he was going to break her facade, making her look vulnerable. And I pushed him away because of that and also because I was scared of getting hurt. I love this drama and I will be re-watching it once it finishes.

k Aug 20 2016 5:07 am i think this drama has a good writer...i follow yoonjin character and i think the writer has succeeded in creating this character and her story...so touchable...yoonjin and jae wan 's love is so beautiful and pure although it's with pain ...the way they understand eachother is so touchable ....the ugly truth in this world and how unfair this world is but yoonjin try to be strong...i almost cried because of her in episode 9 when she broke because of that restaurant manager unbearable behavior and the real world is so much worse than this drama show us....i hope yoonjin and jaewan have happy ending and i think their character is beautiful

It's everything I want in a drama: relatable, mature yet not too mature, funny, romantic, realistic(maaaaybe except for a few things bUT mainly it is realistic). The main characters are all great. They play their role well and each have their own story and/or personality. I really enjoy the interviews at the end. The whole layout is perfect imo. Each episode has something different. I love the morals as well. All around it is just great. Sad it has only 12 episodes. I really want to see more! I wish I could find more dramas like this. Age of youth is definitly already one of my favorites even if I haven't finished it yet XD.

Bao Bao Aug 06 2016 1:10 am I'm not quite sure why people keep on calling this drama sweet or simple? Right from episode 1, I know there is more to it than what meets the eye. I might have thought it was going to be a total melodrama, because of the new girl's serious pilot introduction but I'm glad I kept on watching. I can't wait for the rest of the roller coaster ride. I'm not sure why but when I watch this drama, it brings me peace. There is this very calming factor about the realistic aspect of the show, for a second it felt as though I was intruding onto someone else's life. I'm glad that this is the cast, this is mostly for me, but having this ambiguity to them helps me fall into their characters and get rid of any preconceived notions. I didn't plan on writing so much, nor was I aware I was opinionated over this drama, but it creeps on you. Give it a chance.

Jewels Aug 03 2016 3:13 am It's a nice slice of life drama. This drama does not keep you at the edge of your seat but it's sweet and simple. The storylines are predictable and the characters can be considered obnoxious. However, the ambiance of the drama is very charming and subtle. If you're looking for a nice drama to pass the time then I recommend this one. It's actually relaxing to watch and I'm not bored with the series. The acting is pretty great. (Watched the first 4 eps so far).

Episode 2 is a kind of Episode that you want to stop watching but you can't because its kind of intriguing that you want to watch it more, and you kinda enjoy it..

Episode 3, a typical problem, arguments, excuses, lies, annoying conversation but when you still sit back and watch... You'll get Goosebumps all over your body, and you don't know if you feel disgust or not, but for it's really funny..

-- Most important is, i need the behind the scene of Episode 3, and i want to know HAN SEUNGYEON's Reaction...

yx Jul 31 2016 3:30 am i think that the 5 girls are all the main characters in this drama. from ep1-5 they are probably focusing on different characters' story and life, but not sure from ep6 onwards how will this drama be like. The title is 'age of youth' but isn't the storylines abit too dark?? XDXD Anyways, i think that this is a really nice drama to watch. :)

All dramas these days are trying to be unique and full of suspense (which isn't a bad thing), but sometimes you just need a break and watch something real. It depends on where you're at in life, but I feel anyone who watches it can find something to relate to in this drama. It is about life. That's why I like it. Shame it's only 12 episodes.
