Plot
Crimes are today involving increasingly clever tricks and techniques. The police and crime laboratories must respond to these crimes quickly and with scientific knowledge. And it is the crime laboratory known as “the lab” in prefectural police departments that plays an important role in solving these crimes. The lab must deal with such diverse tasks as analysis of hair, blood type, DND, voice pattern and handwriting, as well as polygraphs, reconstruction facial features and superimposing. Those who work at the lab remain involved behind the scenes, and never take the spotlight such as the moment of the criminal’s arrest.
The lab forms the main stage for this drama, which follows a female lab agent as she goes about her work. Mariko Sakaki(Yasuko Sawaguchi), the main character, practices forensic medicine at the crime laboratory of the Kyoto Prefecture Police Department. With the complicated relationships involving a professional detective who makes light of the crime lab, the detective sergeant who is Mariko’s ex-husband and his new lover, the show unfolds as both an exploration of the cases and a human drama. -- TV Asahi
