Plot

Set in the remote mountains at the turn of the century, a story of forbidden love of a wealthy farmer's daughter for a boy whose family business goes bankrupt.

Notes

"The Legend of Sayo" is based on the book "Tōno Monogatari" written by Kunio Yanagita. The book is a record of folk tales gathered in Tono, Iwate Prefecture.
