Plot

Konno Makoto is your typical Japanese high school student who deals with typical teen problems at school and home. Her best friends include brainy hunk Tsuda Kousuke and happy-go-lucky transfer stuent Mamiya Chiaki (Ishida Takuya). As with the novel and previous movies, Makoto’s world is suddenly turned upside down as she develops the ability to traverse backwards in time (in this case, through a “time leaping” device hidden within a walnut shell).

A great film that does not rely on violence and fighting to be completely engaging, interesting, beautiful, and moving.

Right at the top with the best Japanese animations of Miyazaki and others, although perhaps a little more streamlined presentation than, say, Howls Moving Castle-
more along the lines of The Cat Returns.

I've watched and enjoyed many times.
Highly recommended to all ages, especially adults.

this movie is beyond AMAZING!
The ending actually made me cry!
And it's more realistic than you would have thought. Time really waits no one..
There's a reason why so many ppl loved it. GO AHEAD AND WATCH IT!

All in all, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time is an anime film that tries hard to be smart and while it tends to work towards a certain extend, the film ultimately leaves the audience falling short. Janice has a great voice and provides a fitting characterisation of a pretty carefree 17 year high schooler. Unfortunately a few moments and a fun first half do not make a complete movie. At the end, it is just another case of what could have been – both literally and figuratively. Then again, Neo is probably pondering to himself, what could have been for many things…(Neo 2007)

I rate it 6/10
