Maia I really like this drama and I've watched it many times. Not for the acclaimed filming or whatever. I just thought the chemistry with the two leads was off the hinges. I mean Uhm Tae Woong was so intense, especially in the last ten episodes. And the Princess portrayed her role so well. I really was rooting for them. I know the drama got a lot of negative feedback, but I still say it has re-watch value which is more than I can say for other dramas in the genre. Very grand and sweeping non-romance lol.

isaac Thank u some much 4 the drama i though the end was so annoying.

isaac Hello thank u 4 making my day through your drama but am not happy about some of the korean serie how it end, can some body respond 2 me why the main character dies off at the end yet they are the core of the subject mater?

J d00d, the costumes look so chinese

song-yi I have to say this is one of the worst dramas I've ever seen. I started it off for the male characters, but by the middle of the second episode I dropped out. It was extremely dull; the lack of dialogue, the slow motion happenings and the idiotic silences were the things I hated most. Really, really bad.

carmen Thank entire team of “The blade and petal” (scriptwriter, director, soundtrack composer, cameraman, actors and all other) for making a movie so full of tenderness and delicacy.

John Flez b Jun 10 2014 7:26 am I don't understand the message of the film, because the people that are suppose to die are the ones that survive the ones that are suppose to survive are the ones that are killed. please make me understand

//Story is fiction, but some people in this series are real. That's why they don't die.

dodo I think this drama has a good set of characters but its unfortunate that the plot of the story is not well written. The actions/portrayals are very slow and there are some points that those actions(particularly the facial expressions) do not tell the viewers what those mean exactly. There was also parts which lack of feelings and emotions and I would say that there were instances that the acting wasn't natural at all. But there is no question about the casting, maybe, it would have been better if the plot was made in a way that it would be unpredictable, more spirit and emotions.

Moreover, it was not convincing that Yeon Choong did not know the princess after she disguised herself as a man. Physically, it is very obvious that a body and face of a woman is very different than the man's.

MariusZ. I've only watched the first 4 episodes so far, but I don't know if I'll go on with it until the end. I mean... the princess is very beautiful and all, I'm also a fan of Uhm Tae-Woong and Choi Min-Soo (I think the latter was awesome in Warrior Baek Dong-Soo), but still... Everything happens way too slow. This drama is very predictable and badly written. It's a pity because the story has great potential and the cast is really good. I was expecting something else...

Dawn I watched this drama over the weekend and I will say it wasn't the best except for No Min Woo....I DON'T CARE WHAT ANY HATERS HAD TO SAY....No Min Woo rocked. He played crazy really well...when he first appeared in the drama looking all gentle and sweet, nobody would have guessed this boy would off his ancient med's. I loved his part only. The princess chic made the whole story worthless....I mean seriously, if you were gonna be in love w/the dude and forget the reason people were dying for you and you jilted father...then why start. She could've stayed in the woods and let the merrybandids fight it least it would have ended how it was suppose to...the plot of this dramaa basically sucked....but No Min Woo's part was the best....and all of you who watched. Know I'm telling the truth.

Eghonghon I have never gotten angry about any Korean movie...if princess knew she was going to end up like this why did she allow so many deaths..I hate then last part of this drama.....can't even stand watching it again..too many deaths for no good course,

zahrar.l.p this film was very beutaful .l crying for in . this was full of meaning.l not happy for finish

SaMa This Drama is a great drama ... romantic .... awesome !!!! i love it too much ....

Aponglar This movie is one traditional movie i love the most. Its awesome!!

Rhiannon What is the title of the song title of the guitar/vocal song in this drama?

nori how can you make for episode rating ?

Karine' Kaplanian Samaan Such a terrible and melodramatic ending. In the West the good always wins over the bad. So disappointing in this drama. I'm not watching Korean drama again. It seems the director forgot that this is just entertainment after all, to have such an ending.

LWin The director ended all the tensions by killing the main two actors. Acting of Kim Ok-Vin is so good and she is pretty. Uhm Tae-Woong's acting is excellent as usual. About the show ??? It is so slow.

Faye Nedenul...Please calm down. It's not reality only a drama and that is how actors do their job and earn money. If you hate that guy so much, it's the more reason he gets an award for such superb acting. Don't get worked up and just praise the guy you hate so much for doing such a job that her deserves more money and award because it's working it's magic on your emotions my dear....okay, don't be like that just enjoy.

nedenul UTW and CMS are really great. They should get lots of awards and praise for their acting. Ohn Joo Wan and Kim Ok Bin are pretty good too. However, a big NO to NoMinWoo. A very bad actor. I want to punch him whenever I see him. If he ever gets an award for this drama, I won't respect drama awards anymore.

kaede Choi Min Soo commands attention, really! He looks so fearsome as Yeon Geseomun, and he is really loathesome! All the more that he should receive accolades later during award-giving ceremonies. Another that commands attention is No Min Woo. He has that flower boy look that makes him so lovable, but makes for a haunting look of a bloodthirsty deputy chief of Jo Ye Intelligence. Kim Ok Bin has always amazed me even during "Hello God" days. UTW? He looks older, waaaaaaaay older. But love knows no age. I also applaud at the actor portraying Yang Moon. He really looks good with his poker face/bored face acting.

Park Soo Jin... Why does she always get to play b***** second leads? LOL. I am kinda sad at Lee Jung Shin's role because he was supposed to be the "shadow" of the princess, and in previous news, he was supposed to be someone who had a secret crush on her. How come that was only evident in the first episode? His part after the regicide was to save and protect the princess from Yeon Geseomun's hottie henchman, but about his little crush, it did not seem to exist. At. All. And in latter parts, Shi Woo was just shown asking his father about the princess. I wish his role will be clearly defined like Soo Jin's character.

Karine Hagop Samaan Thank you for the clarification, much obliged. Well, then something should be done to get this drama at the top of the charts with a better rating. GOOD LUCK!

Tari While I love the historical drama, the actors - Uhm Tae-Woong and Choi Min-Soo in particular - and the emotions they are able to transport by just a mere turn of the head or a single look, you need to pay more attention to some little details. While most of the furnishings seem historically correct to me, the gear of the horses surely is not. Saddles and bridles are modern stuff, and so are the profile rubber soles of some of the actors' boots (clearly to be seen in episode 10 which I just watched). Please, improve this! Is it really so hard to put traditional gear on the horses instead of modern dressage saddles and snaffle bits? Otherwise, keep up the good work. I'm looking forward to every Sunday morning when I can watch the next 2 episodes.

nedenuleyn @Karine Hagop Kaplanian Samaan Uhm Tae Woong announced his marriage in November 2012 and got married on 9 January 2013. You probably misunderstood it.

Karine Hagop Kaplanian Samaan This work, as a massive portrait of human love, is a culmination of perfect combination between different aspects of drama production. Awesome job director "Kim Yung". YOU succeeded as a teacher educating fellow humans in this beautiful Korean version of "Romeo and Juliet". However, one small comment, it was a disadvantage to let the lead actor Tawong announce his mmaraige before the end of the series, it definitely affected your rating seeing him in a different role in real life. Blessings, Karine'.

Lena Nvm! Hehee! I found the answers to my post I made about shi-woo. Choi Min-Soo, is he the "HUNTER" from Running Man!? If it is, DAEBAK!!

gwen Choi Min-Soo is utterly awesome in this drama. He steals every scene. I can't take my eyes off him. His portrayal of General Yeon is so commanding. The way he walks, sits and a mere turn off his actually believe he's a fearsome warrior. I started to watch the drama because of the hero but his role seems to be just gazing soulfully at the princess. Then the General walked in and I was entranced. Choi somehow makes me root for the general. He puts power above everything else even his secret love for the slave. Not to mention the general looks very macho. The only other actor who stands out is the princess. Just the right mix of capable head prefect and gumption.

Lena Anybody able to clarify what happen to Shi-Woo and Ho-tae? Did I miss some scenes or so? Anyways this drama is spicing things up!! Can't wait for ep 13!!!!

Jenny I watched for Kim Ok-Vin and On Joo Wan but I discovered the whole cast is awesome! Did they have to chose Uhm-Tae-Woong as the princess love interest though? Come on, he's like 12 years older haha, still a great drama, I really hope they won't stop it because of the ratings...

Paul everything about this drama is awesome..cast,musics,setting....

UTW and KOV is a great couple..both pro and great actors.

JULIE Uhm Tae-Woong.. please open your hair ........please i need to fall in love again.....

JULIE I looked forward to and waited today what!!!!!!!!!!!!!! disappointment What a pity...

1. high level photographer < 2. greatest directors< 3.Problematic scenario XXXXXX

How it got into trouble like this............whyyyyyyy!!!!!!!

I do not want to continue to see

I am happy that i had the opportunity to know Choi Min-Soo. the great ........i really fall for him

and of course first time Uhm Tae-Woong.....

Alafe Like seriously, directors of this drama should get their heads together and think of more productive scenes than just wasting viewers time on mere facial expression and slow pace of conversation... The 10 already made episodes in this drama could easily fit 5 in any other good drama for crying out loud. The quality of words, scenes and story is really average. However, it boast one of the best cinematography and cultural setting qualities than other historical dramas

LWin1123 Uhm Tae-Woong is my favourite but he is not looking nice with untidy long hair here. I am agree to CICI. It is too slow and I feel like fast-forward. I am only at episode 3. Hopefully it will be better in further episodes.

eli Strangely although there are some awkward scenes, i still keep on waiting for the next episodes.I really like watch each scenes where there are UTW and Ok Bin. Their chemistry is over flowing :)

Paul WOW awesome! :D it's a work of art! that scene choong saved young from carriage was AMAZING!! first ep was great cant wait to see more... \^^/

Paul cant wait to see UTW awesome acting again..hurry up KBS2! :D

Ojik Episode 6 is nice :D cant wait for episode 7!! This drama is nice.

L I am enjoying this drama immensely! They have gorgeous directinging. No, I meant drop-dead gorgeous. Seriously. I, personally, have never seen so much quality put into a historical drama. It has movie quality characteristics. Literally, just opening doors is PRETTY in here!! Lol. And trust me I've seen lots of Korean Historical Dramas and this one takes the lead when it comes to cinematography. And yes, the story is very cliché. But I always say this about cliché storylines: If it's done right, it could be a great drama. And so far the cast and crew is doing this one justice. It's the perfect example cliché done right! Seriously though, please start watching. I believe it's worth watching. Every single bit of it.

maddiemann16 It is the start of this drama and it might get better.

maddiemann16 I actually really like this drama even though it is typical

ola Why are there so many Korean melodramas these days: shark, empire of gold, ihyv, cruel city, and now this one????? But in my opinion, if uhm taewoong is playing the lead, we will see nice twists and turns .... I'll give it a try....

CICI @alex... What drama sites don't have comments starting from the beginning favorable or not? The same goes here too. Please stop telling me what to do, what to say, how much to say and when I should say it. If you prefer to comment at the end, fine. I believe we all have the freedom here to give our personal opinion on the DRAMA whenever we choose. So, I stand by my previous comments right here and right now. Peace.. and you have a nice day as well.

ojik The movie is kinda slow. Music too long. But then i still like it. The actor (uhm tae woong) and actress (kim ok bin) is a very nice couple in here. I recommend this drama to anyone who likes historical drama. The story line is nice and i love it. First 2 episodes were awesome! :D

alex CICI,I understand when you strung a series of hkdramas that had a big succes.I want to remeber you that every drama is a succes or not according to the people who watch this and give their opinion. But that dosen't mean that this drama is left outside or something like that! You've made your opinion and that all.It not neccesary to strung more than one comment and tell that this is my favorite and this one i don't like it.Every drama is beautiful on it way and doc.! In my opinion this drama looks primising and I will tell my full opinion when it OVER! But until then have a nice day all!

CICI I have to add, if you look above, the ratings have this drama at NR. How many dramas have NR for their first TWO episodes? Not any that I've seen. So, I hardly think I'm alone in my opinion here and I'm not going to waste my time on a hkdrama that I already don't like, hoping they Might get it together down the line. I'd rather watch Tree With Deep Roots again or another GREAT historical Kdrama.

CICI In response to JY, I have seen several Historical Kdramas. In fact, they are my favorites I would hardly say this is the "forte" or compare this to The Great Queen Seondeok, Gwangaetto The Great Conqueror, Jumong, Kingdom of the Wind, Chuno, Tree with Deep Roots and The Princess's Man to name a few. In reference to the US movie Bill & Ted adventures, I was referring to the silly 80's guitar music as background music for a historical drama along with other music that seemed off. And actually, that wig that Uhm Tae Woong is wearing looks like it may have been worn in some 80's movies to. I liked him in Resurrection and Queen Seondeok but he looks distracted and acts like he just woke up and is being fed his lines. This drama appears very unprofessionally done compared to the epics that i've seen. You don't have to be insulting just because I gave my opinion on the drama. I thought that's what we do here.

juliet So far this drama is awesome ! Although some people may not like it, i still recommend this to all historical romance fans out there looking for a drama that looks beautiful and will bring out a lot of emotions ! Can`t wait for episode three!

alex Seriously guys....You should all learn to judge a hkdrama(historical korean drama) when it finished. Now...I understand all of you try to tell their opinion but first let the series go on we are only at episode 4 what the heck:|!

soysuva The drama seems typical and not that interesting to make me want to watch it. The only thing interesting about is the colorful korean culture in it. The plot is cliche and very typical for a revenge-love drama. I've seen many love-revenge drama's and honestly most of them weren't that good as they went in circles of revenge, then love. I'm also a historical fanatic of drama's and comparing this with the drama's I've seen, this isn't the type of drama I would go for. I honestly think Queen Seon Duk was much better than this. She was also taking revenge, but it wasn't out of love, it was to get her rightful place in the palace and the respect of her people to become queen.

JY Response to "CICI", yes this is a historical Kdrama. That's their the way there filming. If it bothers' you that much, then watch "Bill & Ted".

CICI I'm sorry, but I think this is terrible. Too much staring without any dialogue and too long of a wait time when answering back between the lead actors. The most distracting thing is the music. This is a historical kdrama guys. It feels like Bill & Ted are gonna show up to go back in time to Goguryeo. This is the absolute worst historical kdrama I've ever seen and I've seen many.

K the first two episode is amazing! it seems I am watching a great movie.,

PYJ I want to watch this drama for Kim Ok Vin come back!!!!!!!

Nas yeay, jungshin oppa~!!!! but being as second hero who have one sided-love is such a saddest thing ever :(

dore kim young chul :D

tv aaaaaaaa isn't yoona. i'm so glad.

vf ahh, so glad that yoona isn't casted in this drama i think she isn't suit the role of Moo-Young and her acting isn't enough to become UTW's partner

helios Aaaaa yoona not play drama sword flower! :( :(

Ryo <3 Uhm Tae-Woong :-D
