Plot
Cha Seung-Won plays Kim Bong-du, the Mr. Kim of the film’s title, a young but already slightly bitter elementary school teacher. Cynical about the whole education system, Kim lives for taking bribes from the parents, euphemistically called ``white envelopes,’’ because of the way they’re usually given. For Kim, the envelopes completely dictate his treatment of the students. It can mean absolute loving affection, or his never-ending wrath, which includes special ``drills’’ in P.E. classes.
One day, during a particularly grueling drill, a student collapses and lands in the hospital. In order to quell the mess, the principal orders Kim to volunteer himself for a transfer to a small, rundown school in the country. Though reluctant to give up his envelopes, Kim accepts the position and soon finds himself in a single-class school, with only five students, surrounded by naive but well-meaning country folks.
