    MJ Repar Says:

    Dear Sirs and/or Madams,
    Recently, I had the pleasure of watching your Korean drama series, "IRIS" and "All In". I had never seen a Korean show and it was both educational and interesting to see such talent on display. IRIS was an excellent series, very riveting and culturally interesting. I have read that you are producing IRIS II and that some of the cast from IRIS I will be returning but that others would not. I am sorry to hear that because I do not think the story of Kim Hyun-jun and Choi Seung-hee is done--even though it appears that he was killed off in the last IRIS episode. I hope that you reconsider continuing their story because of the following:

    1. IRIS is basically a love story--a love story of enduring love through crises between the two main characters, Kim Hyun-jun and Choi Seung-hee, and it is the love story of two separated nations and those who would do anything to keep them apart;
    2. It is taking the easy way out to kill Hyun-jun--his story is not finished. He suffered greatly in the series and he gets killed off?.!? That is very unfair to the audience and to his story. He survived many catastrophes and to be just assassinated is a very trivial ending. Yes, life is unfair, but this is the movies and there must be latitude for happiness and continuing vengeance--the audience's investment of time in the series must be rewarded;
    3. The Park Cheol-young and Kim Seon-hwa characters, of course, must return! They are essential to the ongoing fight against IRIS;
    4. We still don't know what IRIS is, exactly, but the truth is slowly being revealed--IRIS has more tentacles than we know--and the next logical step in your series would be to form an anti-IRIS unit, but a unit comprised of both North and South agents, working independently of their governments--and who better to start this unit but Park Cheol-young and Kim Seon-hwa and Choi Seung-hee, with some returning characters, such as Park Sang-hyun;
    5. Is Hyun-jun really dead? I'm voting no. This is what I would do if I was producing the next IRIS: Kim Hyun-jun is gone for the first four or five episode and Choi Seung-hee is mired in sorrow and a deep-seated, growing need for vengeance against IRIS. She goes back to work for the NSS and works to kill those who apparently killed her love, Kim Hyun-jun. Meantime, Park Cheol-young and Kim Seon-hwa, especially, Seon-hwa (who still holds a flame in her heart for Hyun-jun) work to find out who killed him. At some point, these three, Park Cheol-young, Kim Seon-hwa, and Seung-hee join forces, albeit in a clandestine manner, to find out the truth. As they work to dig deeper into IRIS and the people who are controlling IRIS, they begin to understand that IRIS is just not a Korean phenomenon but that its tentacles run deep and wide, extending to other countries and governments.
    6. In the third episode of IRIS II, the murky workings of IRIS are further obscured by another shadowy organization's revelation. This organization is sworn to fight IRIS--and they are concealing a big secret: Kim Hyun-jun was not killed by the sniper's bullet but critically wounded and has been recuperating in Tibet, at their stronghold. He is making a slow recovery and his memory is impaired. He is slowly regaining his strength an his mastery of his warrior craft. He doesn't remember anything of his life before he was shot. He doesn't even remember Seung-hee. (Of course, this will cause complications when he meets Seon-hwa and Seung-hee again!)
    7. Who will arise to fight IRIS? The word IRIS, sadly, has richer connotations than an organization whose main function is destruction and death! In Greek, Iris means "rainbow." The Greek goddess, Iris, was the link between heaven and earth, between the god and humans. Now that there is IRIS, should the anti-IRIS organization also have a flower power name? Maybe DRAGON, which repels evil spirits, might be more appropriate for a anti-IRIS organization.

    Thank you for the opportunity to comment. I hope that nothing I've said is taken amiss. I really enjoyed the IRIS series--it was well done and very emotive and I would wish to see it continued in its inspired path. I hope that you consider some of the comments that I have made. I would really enjoy seeing the story of Kim Hyun-jun and Choi Seung-hee continue!

    I would make one last comment and this is to do with sub-titles: Sometimes they don't convey the sense of the scene. I would urge that subtitles, especially when in English, be done by English speakers who understand the nuances of the scenes, with the aide of a Korean translator well-versed in Korean cultural meanings and nuances. Sometimes, the subtitles read like something out of a dictionary, with the real meaning obscured.

    Respectfully,
