Pil-Seung has been hiding to arrest a criminal but he only ended up got his gas-gun stolen and is ashamed. Yeon-Wook happens to be around is arrested with other bad students. She is angry at the policeman and tries to make fun of Pil-Seung by stealing his handcuffs behind his back. Sang-Joon happens to be at the place where he was brought because he was involved in a fight during his ice hockey match. He sees Yeon-Wook yelling and complaining to the cops and think it's cute. Yeon-Wook has her own hands caught in the handcuffs while fooling around. She has no other choice than to come to Pil-Seung to have her hands freed. Yeon-Jung tells that she is willing to marry Pil-Seung. Yeon-Wook is not so happy with it. Yeon-Jung has been both sister and a mother to her she can not think of letting her go to a man. On the day Yeon-Jung is to introduce Pil-Seung to Yeon-Wook, Pil-Seung prepares himself to be liked by the sister of Yeon-Jung. When they come across, they both remember the night of the nightmare at the police station. Yeon-Wook, as if she's on the revenge for the embarrassing night in the police station, she keeps making him embarrassed the whole evening. After coming back home Yeon-Wook yells at Yeon-Jung and complains why she has picked such a stupid man. Pil-Seung keeps coming to Yeon-Wook and do her a favor to make up for the relationship buy Yeon-Wook only treats him naughty to make troubles.

Three years pass since Yeon-Wook announced that she will not go to the college. She graduate the high school and moves on to the police academy. Going through the tough training, she only awaits for the future to encounter Pil-Seung. Sang-Joon happens to be on a plane. He sees a name pad on one stewardess(Yeon-Jung) and realizes that she is the sister of Yeon-Wook. Yeon-Jung then hears how Sang-Joon likes Yeon-Wook. Later, Yeon-Jung tells Pil-Seung how he thinks about Sang-Joon to be the boy friend of Yeon-Wook. But Pil-Seung does not seem to be quite satisfied with him. Yeon-Wook gets one day free from the training and she directly comes looking for Pil-Seung. She happens to see the scene where Pil-Seung captures a criminal and she is fascinated by his promptness. Three of them have a little party that night. While waiting for Yeon-Jung who was a little late, Yeon-Wook and Pil-Seung gets toasts and drink. Having drank too much, Yeon-Wook could not help herself kissing Pil-Seung for a brief moment. But when Yeon-Jung arrives, she feels sorry and leaves the place leaving Yeon-Jung and Pil-Seung together. Wondering on the street being embarrassed, she encounters with Sang-Joon. he is happy to hear that Yeon-Wook has enrolled in the police academy. Next day, Yeon-Wook goes back to the academy and she says that she will never come home again until all the training is completed. During the training, Pil-Seung plans to make a visit to her training camp to see how she is doing. Yeon-Wook hears that a male guest has come looking for her. She thinks of Pil-Seung and rushes to the meeting place. But she sees that it's Sang-Joon, not Pil-Seung. After a while Pil-Seung also arrives to the training camp. Seeing that Yeon-Wook is already with Sang-Joon, he turns his feet away.

Yeon-Wook and Pil-Seung are not somewhat comfortable with each other but Yeon-Jung does not realizes anything. After the graduation, Yeon-Wook is transferred to a police department and earns her first monthly pay. To celebrate, she invites Pil-Seung and her sister to a dinner. Yeon-Jung is late due to the flight schedule and Yeon-Wook and Pil-Seung have to have dinner together. Yeon-Wook jokingly calls Pil-Seung 'honey' and Pil-Seung is uncomfortable. Pil-Seung suggests that she is now old enough to move out to live on her own. But this suggestion makes Yeon-Wook upset and she runs away from home. Yeon-Wook, having nowhere to go, calls Sang-Joon and he takes her to his office. Pil-Seung, being worried about Yeon-Wook, finds the address of Sang-Joon. But at his place, Pil-Seung sees Su-Jin (Sang-Joon's girl friend) and warns Sang-Joon not to fool around with Yeon-Wook. Pil-Seung apologizes to Yeon-Wook but she is stubborn insists that she won't go back and will live on her own. Yeon-Wook drops by to pack her things to move out. Yeon-Jung tries to hold her saying that she is pregnant but Yeon-Wook leaves away. Pil-Seung somewhat misses the fun times when Yeon-Wook was staying with them. Time passes and Yeon-Wook has build up her career to be qualified as to work in a department for the violent crime. There she encounters Pil-Seung but they are somewhat uncomfortable to each other. Pil-Seung advices her against working in a felony section because it's too tough for a girl. And Yeon-Wook breaks down and cries that she has been lonely.

Pil Seung, already uneasy about Youn Uk's behavior, gets angry when she calls him 'darling' and she says she was just joking. Feeling uncomfortable with everything related to her, he tells her that it's time for her to be independent, so he would like to see her leave his house. Shocked by him, Youn Uk immediately leaves the house and looks for Sung Joon. Pil Seung goes to Sung Joon's place and takes Youn Uk back. Pil Seung tells her that he made a mistake, but she says that she doesn't want to rely on her sister and brother-in-law and that she has already found a place to live in. Youn Uk expresses her true feelings towards Pil Seung for the first time, but he cold-heartedly ignores. Time has passed, and Sung Joon is still in love with Youn Uk regardless of her cold response, and Youn Jung has given birth to a son named Joon Young. Youn Uk, posted to where Pil Seung works, participates in special investigation. One day, Youn Jung is surprised when she delivers food for Youn Uk and accidentally witnesses Pil Seung and Youn Uk fight in front of the front door.

Youn Uk visits Pil Seung's parents' house to see Joon Young. She enjoys staying with Joon Young for a while, but when Pil Seung's older brother tells her not to come home any more, she feels as if Joon Young has been taken away from her. When Pil Seung learns that his brother has told Youn Uk never to meet Pil Seung again, Pil Seung goes to Youn Uk's place to soothe her. Upset, she refuses to listen to what Pil Seung says. He hugs her to soothe her. Sung Joon spots them, and punches Pil Seung. Youn Uk slaps Sung Joon. To settle the case, Pil Seung slaps Youn Uk. Youn Uk asks Sung Joon to leave her, blaming him for slapping her brother-in-law, whom she loves. Entangled in the relationship between Youn Uk and Sung Joon, Pil seung feels wretched. Feeling bad that he slapped Youn Uk, Pil Seung tries to calm her down by saying that she can meet with Joon Young. But Youn Uk is still hurt. She feels pity for Pil seung, who's getting all the blame. Youn Uk is resolute that she will break up with Sung Joon, and he's anxious to see Youn Uk do it. The two decide to break up finally, but Sung Joon still has feelings for her. When the two break up despite all Pil Seung's efforts, he scolds Youn Uk. Sung Joon's father submits a petition saying that Youn Uk and Pil Seung are not honorable civil servants. Pil Seung's seniors summon him and rail at him. He assaults them, and is detained.

Youn Uk is sad to see Pil Seung detained. She goes to his seniors and begs them to forgive him, kneeling down before them. Judging by his facial expressions and voice, she suspects that Pil Seung has the same feelings for her as she does for him. Sang Hee supports their relationship. Youn Uk feels more confident. She decides never to budge again from now on, goes to Youn Jung's grave, and begs her to forgive Youn Uk for loving him. Though Youn Uk tries to make Pil Seung show his feelings for her, he hides them. Youn Uk, Pil Seung, and Joon Young gather to celebrate Joon Young's birthday. Youn Uk asks Joon Young to let her live with him, and Pil Seung, enraged, storms out of the place. Since Pil Seung knows well that if Youn Uk comes to him, her life will be unhappy, he goes to Sung Joon, and confirms Sung Joon's feelings for Youn Uk. Sung Joon says that unless Pil Seung accepts Youn Uk, she will return to Sung Joon since she doesn’t want to be alone. Pil Seung admits his feelings. When Sung Joon says that he still can't believe Pil Seung, he kneels down before Sung Joon. Sung Joon is all the more angry because he can see that Pil Seung truly loves Youn Uk. Pil Seung gets a three-month suspension for the assault, and is transferred to Kangwon Province. Pil Seung spreads lies that he's remarrying somebody to help Youn Uk forget about him. When Pil Seung says that he's getting married, she says that if he's getting married anyway, then why can’t she be the one to marry him.

Pil Seung introduces the woman he's going to marry to Youn Uk. Youn Uk is speechless before the woman, who is kind and pretty. Youn Uk leaves, weeping. In fact, the woman is Pil Seung's cousin, who also feels somewhat uncomfortable. Sung Joon is still anxious. Youn Uk decides to keep her feelings for Pil Seung forever, and not to even consider Sung Joon. While checking those who drink and drive, she gets dragged by a car, and ends up in a hospital. Pil Seung even changes his mobile phone number to sever his ties to Youn Uk. When Pil Seung hears that Youn Uk is in a hospital from Kang, he gives Kang Sung Joon's phone number and tells him to call Sung Joon. When Sung Joon gets a call, he runs to Youn Uk, but on the way, he realizes that its no use and returns home. Still concerned about Youn Uk's conditions, Pil Seung sends his cousin to where Youn Uk is to see how she's faring. Sung Joon, still concerned about Youn Uk, once again heads towards the hospital, and happens to overhear what Pil Seung and his cousin are talking about. The remarriage plan is all fake...

Youn Uk can't contact Pil Seung no matter how hard she tries. She all of a sudden feels extremely lonely, and is mired in a deep sadness. Sung Joon comes to her. He fails to tell her about the fake remarriage plan, and goes to Pil Seung. He aske Pil Seung why he made up the fake plan, but Pil Seung asks him not to tell Youn Uk the truth. Sung Joon can't decide if he should tell Youn Uk about it or not. Eventually, impressed with the true love between Pil Seung and Youn Uk, he tells her about the fake plan. Sung Joon now gives up everything. He hopes that Youn Uk will be happy. Youn Uk rushes to the gym where Pil Seung is. Tired of hiding his feelings for Youn Uk, Pil Seung says that he loves her. Youn Uk is happy to hear it. However, when Pil Seung says that he hates himself for loving her, she says she will leave him if he continues to feel so bad. Youn Uk disappears, and Pil Seung looks for her. After having denied his feelings for Youn Uk for so long, Pil Seung now decides to be honest about his love for her. Pil Seung finds Youn Uk at the mountain villa where they once stayed together, and hugs her. He tells her to go with him to see Youn Jung to be tried before her. Youn Uk, feeling as if she's dreaming, is happier than ever.
