Plot
Based on the true story of Hamako Watanabe, a popular Japanese singer befor and during World War II. After the end of the war, many Japanese soldiers were tried for war crimes in the Philippines. In 1951, one of these imprisoned soldiers wrote a song expressing hope for their release and sent it to Japan, where Hamako Watanabe sang the song on the radio. That song became a bit hit.
Hamako Watanabe then traveled alone to the Philippines to visit the remaining 108 imprisoned soldiers and attain their release.
