Plot
Nagano Yoshihiro's powerful indie feature Recreation is set in Kyushu, Japan's western island. The exam results (some of them doctored) are posted, school's out for the summer and friends Akira and Kazu have time on their hands. Akira is quite concerned about his future and worried that his parents never have time for him, but he joins in Kazu's games (stealing bikes and scooters for joy-rides) and enjoys hanging out with twin sisters An and Rin. But the friends decide that they need someone new in their group to give it some fresh impetus. And their rash choice for the role is Tachibana, a screwed-up loner with a pet turtle and the habit of flash-groping girls on the street.
