Plot Synopsis
Kim Sam-Soon gained 7kg after having her heart broken. She is a 29-year-old single who has an average life. She didn’t go to college. She doesn’t have her own apartment or a car. She doesn’t have a boyfriend. Although she has baker’s license, she got fired last Christmas Eve. She is one of us.

This is my favorite K-drama. It is the first drama/movie I watched and I have been hooked on them every since. I have watched this drama few times and always find something I had missed. There are some very funny parts. Some posters said they didn't like the ending and at first I thought the same way but as I watch more K-dramas/movies I have a better understanding of the ending. The ending in this drama was quite clearly defined and ambiguous too (I am not giving it away). Some K-dramas/movies have ambiguous endings and it leaves it up to the viewer to use their imagination to decide. Others have a message based on the fate of the character. Or both.
I like Kim Sun-Ah and find her quirky and funny. I think with MNIKSS she was type cast in to similar roles. I think she is trying to break out of it. She did a good job in "Fighting Spirit" which is much different "Scent of a Woman" although both deal with terminal illness. I wish she would do a romantic comedy with Gong Goo they are so good together in the movies.

at the end love is not the winner in this drama. and it is not supposed to be either. the drama is about life itself so at the end life just keep going. i guess kim sam soon is really unforgetable in this drama so all people remember her like that. she has acted in similar characters in others. but it gets boring and i think thats a shame of her because that make her seem that she cant act different charecters maybe thats why she acted in scent of a woman but it was no good. to be honest it was disapointing. lee dong wook is not that good either...

For me, it was very good. Balanced. Iconic, indeed. I admit its ratings surprised me a bit - is it really that good? O_o Perhaps, I'm a bit shocked because those two are not in my personal top 5 Korean artists... Although Kim Soon-Ah's worked wonders for her role, didn't she? :) Anyway, the drama is amazing: it's funny, and light, and down-to-earth which honestly is sometimes better than many princess stories. I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to spend some time smiling and feeling generally good "just because".

Undoubtedly one of the most iconic K-dramas of the 2000s and nearly unprecedented in popularity, MNIKSS has a special place in every K-drama watcher's heart as the endearing Korean version of "Bridget Jones's Diary."
It's a heartwarming, gut-wrenchingly hilarious, and absolutely relatable story, and Kim Sun-ah effortlessly made it come alive with her trademark everyday-girl charm. The drama is a standard and a must-watch.

This was the first drama I ever saw. So it has a place in my heart. Cute, funny moments. Who doesn't love this drama?
