This is the best film I have ever seen about film-making. It must have been a daunting task for the director and cinematographer, competing with the clips from films Li Pingbing worked on, but the documentary segments hold their own visually.
The film is a warm portrait of an enormously appealing individual, and does a very effective job of conveying his artistic philosophy, his devotion to his art, and his regrets about the reduced involvement in family which have resulted from this.
