The Breath reveals the love to others can suffocate the beloved one. Choking love can be trans gender .What the sculptress do is to teach love which the most complicated relations of among human beings, can make the breathing almost impossible The director of the film wearing glasses is the official of the prison and actually directs the love affairs and make it possible. So I can guess the love between people is made possible by the some invisible hands which we can name it as Providence or destiny but I name it society and hidden norms within the society.
