Plot

Mei-ling is 28 and pregnant with the child of a 21-year old. In spite of the storm brewing within, she slowly comes to terms with herself while getting to know and falling in love with the father of her unborn child. Unlike Mak's previous work, beside(s,) happiness is told in a traditional, linear narrative that proves effective in telling a bittersweet, relatable film about love, responsibility and wising up.-- Singapore International Film Festival
