Created by Yasuo Uchida, Asami Mitsuhiko is one of the most popular amateur sleuths in Japan today. Many of the novels featuring Mitsuhiko have been made into TV by several different networks with the different casts.
Asami Mitsuhiko is a son of a wealthy family and not-so-successful freelance writer. He is frequently involved in murder cases and acts like a detective. Almost always he is treated like a troublemaker by local police, then treated as a VIP afterwards, because they learn Mitsuhiko's elder brother is the superintendent of Tokyo Police Department. And in the end he gains respect because he solves the mystery.
