Plot

A divorced woman strives for success after experiencing several difficult ordeals.

Joo-Young (Seo Young-Hee) is an ordinary house wife who takes care of her mother-in-law, husband and son. For her hobby she takes cooking lessons. Her only complaint is that her husband Tae-Kyung (Shim Hyung-Tak) is so busy he can't spend enough time with their family, especially their son Chan-No. Tae-Kyung then promises to take his son to a soccer game. On the day of the soccer game, Tae-Kyung doesn't show up and they can't get in touch with him. While Joo-Young is taking her cooking lessons, Chan-No keeps calling asking her to take him to the soccer game. Joo-Young rushes out of the cooking lessons. While leaving, she bumps into Woo-Bin (Ji Hyun-Woo) who is just walking out of the elevator. Woo-Bin drops a chinaware dish. Later at the office, Woo-Bin, who works as a sports agent, discovers that the chinaware is broken.

Joo-Young is able to make it to the soccer game with her son Chan-No. After the game Joo-Young and her son happen to meet Woo-Bin again and he asks Joo-Young to pay for the broken chinaware from earlier in the day. They exchange phone numbers and go their separate ways.

During this time, Joo-Young's younger sister Joo-Mi (Kim So-Eun) sees her sister's husband Tae-Kyung hug and kiss another woman. Joo-Mi calls her sister and tells her what she saw. That evening Joo-Young confronts her husband about what her sister saw. Tae-Kyung replies that the woman in question is a crazy client and he can't do anything about it. In actuality, Tae-Kyung is having an affair with the woman who is named Joon-Hee (Lee Ja-Young).

One day, Joo-Young runs into Joon-Hee at a coffee shop. Joon-Hee confesses to her that she is having an affair with her husband. Joo-Young becomes numb. During this time, Woo-Bin calls Joo-Young to have a meeting about the broken chinaware and also an autograph of a famous soccer player he promised to give to her son. Woo-Bin senses something is wrong with Joo-Young.

Meanwhile, younger sister Joo-Mi bumps into a man named Woo-Jin (Ryu Jin) while jogging. Since that moment Joo-Mi can't forget Woo-Jin. One day, Joo-Mi meets Woo-Jin again at a coffee shop. Joo-Mi is thrilled to see him again and she goes up to him to say hi, but Woo-Jin is cold to her. Woo-Jin happens to be cousins with sports agent Woo-Bin.

ToniaB I love the movie,'twas touching

sara It was awful indeed,That was unreasonable

Aj Still another KDrama that starts strong with terrific actors, develops interesting characters and two great couples; then hauls in the stereotyped evil doers (incredibly stupid and vicious in this one); loses focus on the wonderful leads, and with it all the sparkle...ending in a pathetic whimper. What a disappointment--again.

AexLayXoXo Yoon Doo JoOn B2ST !! i like this drama...especially WooMi couple ! Hehehe ^^

pepai Actually, I haven't seen ep 45-50. But what I gathered from comments is that, it begins with tears and ends with tears. huhu. Where's justification? It is always said that Good always triumphs over evil. And that there's always bright tomorrow after dark clouds. In this drama, I can not see it. That's why a lot are disappointed with the last parts of this drama. However, the actors and actresses did their acting so well. Congratulations!..especially to Jang Woo Bin and Woo Joo-Young.

Paulene I remember myself always wanting to finish the drama even though I had lot of things to do. I had delayed all the work I need to finish because I really wanted to know what will happen on the last episode. Unfortunately, the ending was unsatisfactory but anyway kudos to the writer.. I can say I loved it as it left me with so many positive impression that I can relate with. This was the drama that made me love Ji Hyun Woo the character Woo Joo Mi. Joo Mi and his husband are quite cute although in reality they have a huge age gap.

I love it.

William Skelton I just finished watching ATK and was left wondering why it is titled "A Thousand Kisses". There were probably only 10-15 kisses. Is this an allusion to the 1000 cranes and a hope for life? I am not Korean, so I had trouble understanding why Woobin didn't marry Jayoung. He seemed like such a wimp to me. I would have married her without hesitation had I been him. Cha Hwa-Yeon was superb in her role...undoutedly she must have a lot of acting experience. Ryu-Jin and Kim So Eun, however stole the show. Both were geniunely believable and "real". Thank you both for your excellent acting. The best scene in the drama was when the mother, son, and daughter embrace and Ryu-Jin says that he loves his mom. Do Koreans never say, "I love you"? I kept waiting for the Chairman to say it and he never did. How sad that he never expressed it verbally. I hope Korean couples aren't that repressed and sad.

sushi12 Honestly, this show is great but Nam Ji Hyun (Soo ah) in here makes me want to slap her real hard. Lol. Princess without her manners and i don't get why nobody make some sense in her during the show. -.- Frustrated as it seems, overall great! :)

Gladys does anyone knows where their shooting location was? esp the resort with the monorail :D thanks..

Nkolika -Nigeria First, let us rename the drama appropriately. It should have been captioned A Thousand Tears. Secondly, the drama gave a lot of kudos to the very bad and wicked characters thereby giving the impression that what they did should be emulated. I wonder who the lead characters are, because the drama at a point gave more sir time and story line to the elderly characters, Jumi's mother and father-in-law(Aka Chairman). The ending for the lead charact6ers were rather shabby and unsatisfactory. It was a good story but messed up with the ending where the good characters were ra5ther punished while the evil ones were rewarded. A drama is meant to infuse us with some virtues. It should show that it pays to do what is right, but that was not so with ATK. I am also joining to ask the question,Why does Korean dramas end sad? Hardly do you come across any Korean drama you watch and go away satisfies and Happy with the end. Is it a deliberate action on the part of the writers? or does it mean that Koreans by nature are sadistic and unhappy people. That is why Brilliant Legacy continues to be my best Korean melodrama. The script was well crafted and the ending superb.

JCCJ Such a GREAT drama. It was sad for the most part but those joyful moments made it worth it. Pretty well structured, great actors and locations. Also Chan-No and Woo Bin were just cute....

Eghonghon I need somebody to explain to me why Korean love stories end up sad..I hated the ex girlfriend,I hated soo ah .the punishment given toji sun was to much for me to handle.I was sad about woo bin trying ti treat yoon Kung nice after causing trouble ..I think we deserve better endings in these movies and dramas they are so long after staying up late to watch them wr should be satisfied with the ,movies please...I truely hate it when they make good women very weak ....I love Korean movies I don't want to stop watching them becous of too many sad endings..

smk910 The drama should have been called "A Thousand Tears". It is mostly a sad drama with little joy.

hanny Like ji hyun woo and seo yong hee, watch for 2 times still like it much, the ending for woo bin and joo young too simple and too short ending for joo young and woo bin

maria i dont care what others say but it was one of my favorite dramas...good job everybody!!!

S. One of the worst dramas I have ever watched. Spoilers ahead!

The decent women in this series are completely spineless. And the ill-mannered and nasty women get away with just about everything. Are you telling me Hye Bin's short but incredibly powerful and wealthy husband was supposed to be punishment for her bad manners and nasty ways? She only has to live with her in-laws for two years - big deal. And am I supposed to believe that Soo Ah gets away with causing Joo Mi's miscarriage? Above all, she was the one characters I wanted someone to slap and teach her some manners! Instead, everyone pampers her fits. Unbelievable!

Over and over, the enduring women are abused, forced to suffer and never even are written in a way to defend themselves or put the terrible women in their place. There is no resolution, no real sense justice. The ill-mannered go on with their fabulous lives with barely a bump. Yoo Kyung isn't even caught doing the nasty things she did to Joo Young, how nice. Woo Bin's mother should have started to grow as person long before the end and she, too, wasn't truly punished for all her wickedness.

Ji Sun ends up dying a terrible death after being abused and put through horrific pains of divorce and mistreatment all around. Her crime was adultery, which is terrible, but she was damned as if she had murdered infants in front of their mothers.

Joo Mi and Woo Jin were the only sweet part of this for me but even they grew dull and tiresome when they began to grow spineless in the face of Soo Ah. Overall it was unsatisfying and too ridiculous. And dragged out beyond reason. Not worth even a second glance.

hrtbrkgrl i started watching 1000 kisses because of Ji Hyun Woo. started really interesting but when the episode where Woo Bin and Joo Young had to break up..i got really disappointed :( would have been better if they stayed together and damn the rest especially the bitchy mom... or would have been much better if Joo Young was the one who got pregnant from that night, then the bitchy mom would have no choice but to accept her as Woo Bin's wife. love Hyun Woo's acting and his smile....:)

Leela I loved this drama and I had hoped that it would've stayed on the couples more and less on the mama. The ending could've been better too. Still love this drama and Woo bin is my numero uno!!

Sally Anyone else feel completely and utter ripped off? (some spoilers from here on) I watched the whole last 10 episode waiting for SOME sort of resolution between Woo Bin and Joo Young, and *poof*, here we are at the last episode. I'm still cursing the b*tch of an ex-girlfriend (honestly? She DIDN'T know that Woo Bin WASN'T in love with her? Shocker...), we get no conclusions from the ex-husband's family (not that I needed that; their entire story bored me), everyone else is off in lala-happy-forgiveness-land, and all I get for my Woo Bin/Joo Young love is a 30 second shot of them smiling at each other through a window. Granted, I appreciated the glimpse of the rings on the chain (the romantic in me was waiting for it), but seriously! The show was supposed to be made up of their's (as well as Woo Jin and Joo Mi's) relationship. And yet, here we are, a marked difference after the warning, and 10-20 episodes to the ending arc with nothing. Yet another example of a series that started off so very strong, and ended with marked disappointment.

James I loved this drama at the start, but halfway through as Consus stated, they changed the focus to the mother (Cha Hwa-Yeon, a wonderful actress with a thankless part) and it became episode after episode of how much can she be tortured, and how slowly can she die. And stupid new characters added in such as the con man in the ex husbands house. the increased focus on the evil ex girlfriend, and the short suitor of the sister did nothing but waste time and bring down the show, giving extreme short shrift to the main characters who virtually did not connect for the last half of the series and came together at the end almost as a not believable afterthought. Was the writer forced to change the focus due to lower than expected ratings? If she did, then it didn't work. The two leads should be given a follow up series just to resolve all the unanswered issues from the first half of this one. Extremely disappointing.

Consus I liked the beginning of this drama. I was hoping they would stick with the two main couples to keep the story surrounding them. Then in the middle of the drama, the story line went into a totally different direction and it wasn't very good one. The only thing that kept it going for me in the second half were the talented actors that carried it along. I always like Lee Mi Young and Kim Chang Won in dramas they are so fun to watch.

Sunna This drama got boring along the way, the more they dragged it out, the more fustrating it gets. You would think to NOT be like other drama's and drag it on, i mean, how many of use have seen this in other drama's??? Seriously wrap this up and get with the happy ending's already! Lol

jena This drama is getting tiresome. I really want to see Woo Bin's mom run over by a mack truck over and over and over again. I really really want to see Woo Bin's Fugly psycho stalker ex get eaten by the monster that lives in the river that runs around Seoul that I saw in that one movie where it somersaults underneath bridges and into the sewer systems. I'd dearly loved to see the most spoiled rotten youngest half sister get the serious smack down that she needs so she stops whining so my ears stop bleeding. And I want that cold fish shriveled old fart to keel over and die. And I'd really like to see the mom STOP ACTING LIKE A VICTIM. It's insulting to the intelligence of women globally.

aicy when it comes to this drama's rating,i don'tknow which channel gives the correct or accurate ratings per episode.other website ranked it first among the top 25 for several weeks now.and it still does.which is which then.but i like this drama.i just tried to watch the first episode to check whether its worth it or not,and here i am,already hooked and continues watching since yesterday.i just can't wait to finish til the end.staying up late just so to catch up with latest ep.i hope it would give us a happy denouement.

ZitaViki It will be nice to read around the net the LDBP Team and also the IDs of our subbers in every single hardsubbed video that is made with Viki softsubbs, thanks. Asking Oppa Ahoxan to release the sofsubbs even 2 weeks later won't be difficult as it won't be difficult to just don't delete the credits on the softsubbs... right? This team can even go to STRIKE... just because people don't show gratitute to our subbers at our own site.
